Just called in for a pint with the dog, very friendly staff 😀 👍

I initially asked if there was take aways to which she said yes. Only for her to charge me full price without the peas or condiment for the chicken and chips. For anyone wanting to get take aways, they don’t have even a bag for it or do they have the plastic for condiments. Avoid if you don’t want to dine in

Arrived late at the Salutation. We were hoping to get a meal before a theatre visit but hadn't booked. Wilson who greeted us was really apologetic and honest that he had already got 45 minutes worth of orders ahead of us so there wouldn't be time for us to have a meal. We settled for a coffee and a bag of crisps. Wilson later brought us over a bar of chocolate each as an apology. How kind. I have to say the food looked lovely and the atmosphere excellent. We'll book next time!! Thank you.

The Salutation in the hiden jewel of Ipswich. From the outside you could easily walk by and not give a second look. Trust me when I say, you must pop inside this pub. The landlord is a chap named Wilson. He adds humour and a caring attitude to his customers, which he shows in abundance. I originate from the east end of London, Wilson, with his charm and caring attitude would fit in perfectly. The chef is an absolute diamond of a chef. She is like everyone's mum, the food is cooked from fresh, and it tastes amazing. The toilets are cleaned to a very high standard, in fact the pub itself is so welcoming and that's thanks to Wilson. This place is a disgrace. The service food and atmosphere are below par. I will never be returning.

Clean and vibrant pub in the town centre

We had the Christmas meal it was lovely food and plenty of it. The service was fantastic too. Highly recommend.

Why in prior to a show at the Regent Theatre. The pub was warm and welcoming, the bar staff friendly and helpful. The place itself was modern, clean and inviting. Popped back in after the show for a quick drink, was a shame it was so quiet, but again the service was very good.

One of the first pubs I had a beer in and I have been a frequent customer ever since. Always clean and drinks are always flowing and always has a friendly atmosphere

A very nice bar and good food. Friendly service and a wide selection of beers on tap. Just stopped in for a refreshing drink in the small, but very tidy garden. Worth a visit if you are passing.

This place has really gone downhill! Long wait for very poor food. Will not be returning

Very disappointed with your scampi and chips meal. £13 for only 8 pcs scampi, not enough chips and a token gesture of peas. Total rip-off. Overpriced meal. Should be £10.50 max and served with 10 pcs scampi and more chips and peas. Catering chips and peas are super cheap and I felt ripped off and I won’t recommend you or return 😡

Visited before going to the regent, pub grub, but great pub grub, excellently cooked and presented, staff friendly and welcoming, good vibe, will definitely return

Nice place to eat or just for a drink

Booked a table for 3 for a pre show meal, perfect choice. Tastefully refurbished, comfortable and clean pub with super friendly polite staff. Food was excellent and very well priced. Lovely coffee which was nice and hot and was so nice to have hot milk with an Americano! Will definitely be returning 🙂 Many thanks.

Food decent but lacking atmosphere

Is a local pub w/local business. Get served pretty quick the food is good if you like that thing. Best during eraly stay late leave sort of thing. Not seen a idiot yet so fingers crossed I won't again. Could do with improving in some areas but as this situation has hit us it will hit them a bit too.

First time I've been in since revamp very imprest

This place has been refurbished well, lots of people at 6pm, managed to grab the last table, so not sure if they take reservations as I had tried to book via email. Staff friendly and welcoming. Food was hot (given amount of orders going through the kitchen) tasty and filling and a perfect start to the evening with the show at the Regent to follow.

Lovely quiet afternoon beer, child friendly and good snacks and nibbles.

Staff was nice but when u order a large diet Coke, u don't expect them to pour warm diet Coke out of a bottle. Payed nearly £10 for a malibu and flat Coke and a large flat Coke. Not sure ill go back

We went here for a Sunday roast. Friendly staff, lovely vibe. Food was fantastic and great prices.

Saturday 24th September booked a table for 4 persons arrived 4.30 pre Theatre meal. Ordered some drinks at the bar and was asked to order food at the bar when we had decided. Went to order Scampi, Chicken Burger, Guinness and beef stew was told nothing available, our friend changed to beef burger, I asked for Fish and chips guess non available, was offered chili with rice and Chips! or Vegan dishes not much to pick from so asked for Ribeye steak to be told non left. I couldn't believe it the young lady asked someone else who said some steaks had been served so she checked and came back and said there were two left so I said you best be quick and and save one for me. Then to order more drinks I asked for a pint of Neck oil non available, I then asked for Aspall's cider non available so settled on a lager beer. when our food was served two ladies who arrived later and two more at another table were all served Beef and Guinness casserole. We couldn't believe it when we asked the bar staff why we were told the food list hadn't been updated. We were all disappointed the food we had was ok but not what we had hoped for. This was the first pub we had ever been in where there was a lack of beer and lack of food for a first time visit this was very poor and would not return again if we had just turned up on the off chance of food then I would have understood but not having booked a table a week before hand. Could not recommend .

We went to the Salutation for pre theatre drinks,haven't been in there for a very long time,but good atmosphere,when we came out of the theatre and past the Salutation they had a live band playing music was great,we danced in the street outside.

Great hosts for a private event ! Super lovely staff and a great spread on the buffet ! Would book here again

Very pleasant environment for food and drink. Useful proximity to the Regent theatre. Reasonable range of food with emphasis on burgers and fish and well cooked and presented. Good range of lager beers though real ale less evident . Prices standard for food though beers and drinks a bit pricey I thought. Pint of IPA and a medium Pinot were £10.90 which is steep for local pubs. Friendly staff. Would visit again.

Really nice food and service,great place to go if you're going to the Reagent theatre.

This place was a really nice find, a stone's throw away from the Ipswich Regent theatre. Staff friendly and efficient. They serve food all day - what we had was delicious - the spicy chicken burger in particular! There is a small terrace out the back which we really liked. Will definitely go back if we find ourselves in this area again.

Always been a good pub for a drink food is good bar staff friendly and I met Jim Davidson after a show there 30 years ago is that good or bad?

Lovely venue and great selection of drinks. The bar maid who served us was called Charlie and has amazing customer service.

A placid place, a great taste of homemade 😋 food. The menus options are an excellent value. The dining experience overall is very pleasant. I highly recommend.Deeeeliciousss , high quality plates, selection of wines, and great service.Everything about this restaurant was great. The place was clean and smelled good. What a gem of a place.. found it by accident as the Chinese was closed. beautiful inside. Lovely atmosphere. Food was yummy. I had fish and chips. Highly recommend. We will be back.

Good selection on tap, food excellent. Nice place to be when Ipswich play at home on a Saturday as it is just that bit quieter and more relaxed. Sky Sports etc too.

Just spent the evening at the Salutation having food and drinks. WOW!!!! Amazing food, service and surroindings. Definitely worth a visit! Highly recommended.

Lovely staff very clean and friendly and as I am a fussy eater was sceptical but I needn't have been the food is first class served very quickly and very well presented... Well worth a visit...

This pub is under new ownership so decided to try it as the food was not good before. I saw all the menus on Facebook and was looking forward to my visit. Unfortunately, the menu was very reduced with only basic pub food available. The scamp and chips was cheap and edible but obviously not good quality fish. Would not recommend until full menu was available and would suggest checking first.

Went in here a few days ago with my daughter and grandson. The gentleman behind the bar was absolutely wonderful! There was music playing in the background. He asked my grandson (who is just 3) what he liked. My grandson's reply was power rangers. The lovely man then went away for a few seconds,and on came power rangers theme tune. What a legend 😁 He made a little 3 year old extremely happy! Lovely place, good homely feel to it. I will return, without a doubt.

Fun pub good for after regent theatre

So disappointed today. Love this place and have been on numerous occasions and presented my meerkat 2 for 1. There was six of us and the place was empty. The fella quite honestly couldn't be bothered and said you have to call... Really brother! Rest assured. I will be back back to this gem of a pub that I have frequented for 30 years on and off.

Have eaten here several times recently either early evening or Sundays and the food is very good value. Recommend the Sunday roast

It was okay early evening but too packed later as nobody had the courtesy to move when my disabled Husband was unable to get through the door.

Stopped off here for dinner before seeing OMD at the Ipswich Regent. they have a good selection of real ales and draught beers, plus good value pub grub - the menu is a little limited but it was all freshly cooked, home made and piping hot!We had garlic mushrooms and really good whitebait to start, followed by veggie lasagne with garlic bread and salad, plus scampi with peas and the best chips we've had in ages.It does get really busy so get there early for a table on a Saturday!The staff are really friendly too - a few more food options and it would get 5 stars, but you can't fault the service or quality of the food!

My husband and I had dinner here as it's across the road from the theatre, we have been here several times just to drink it's got a nice atmosphere. We had ham ,egg and chips the menu said it was carved ham but it was from a tin, not nice will not eat here again

Me & my husband came here for dinner before a show.There is a pre theatre menu which is of great value. We didn't opt for that as we only wanted one course.There were many traditional pub items on the menu.The food coming out to other tables sound us looked stunning too.We kept it simple with a Hunters chicken each. Was very tasty & of great portions.The food in general is very reasonable in price & of great quality.The pub itself was very clean & service was both friendly & efficient.We Will be returning for sure.
