The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

A very warm welcome at this cosy restaurant. 24 hungry Bellringers had just been ringing at the Church in Ixworth and were ready for lunch. Pre-ordered the week before, the food was served quickly and was absolutely delicious. It was also really good value. Would thoroughly recommend this to anyone, but our experience as a big party was excellent. Thanks to all who cooked and served. Liz

Excellent pub. Good food which exceeded our expectations. Great service from the lady behind the bar. Let us order despite us cutting it fine near cut off time just before 2PM and even allowed us to add desert. Warm and welcoming with roaring log fire. Ideal if you are visiting Hickling Broad nature reserve at the end of the road. We look forward to going back in the future.

Had a great experience! Sarah was a fantastic waitress—super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious too. Definitely recommend!

have been before but today was special as it was a celebration of mine and my daughters birthdays which are just few days apart went with family and a couple of my grandsons friends who despite working nearby didnt know it existed everything was perfect all the food was delicious and the service excellent even the childrens meal for my 2 year old great grandson .. and there is a play area outside for small children

Having dined here many times this visit was a huge disappointment. We ordered 2 lattes which were quickly dispensed and ordered our lunch, mine was Brie & Cranberry Ciabbata and my husband ordered battered cod and chips. The food was served quite promptly and looked to be good. My ciabbata was lovely with a nice side of chips and salad so no complaints there, my husband however, whilst the cod looked nice and crispy, found that it was dangerously hot and burnt underneath! The batter was rock solid and totally inedible. He returned his meal and asked for a refund which was given without hesitation. The lattes were sadly not good, bitter coffee and more like americanos, certainly no frothy top to them. Such a shame, hopefully just a blip from the chef.

The place was a little run down but the food on the buffet looked nice.

What a lovely couple! And a really nice tea house. We particularly enjoyed the coffee, hot chocolate, and bagel with egg and paprika. Also Kim’s home-made cakes. They are, by the way, very dog friendly. As we live in a free country, still, just about, I hope, and because Kim and Paul have different, but in my opinion quite reasonable views on a number of issues, some reviewers have been pretty nasty. Go elsewhere then! is my response.

Delectable, delicious food. I love vegetables, seafood, fish etc. Great coffee and dessert. Fantastic chef; scrumptious Sunday lunch menu. Super management. Excellent service especially from Phil, whose customer care ensured special dietary needs were accommodated and made our meal outstanding. He is always very attentive to everyone. Thank you so much, all staff.

Very poor. Over an hour before food served. Three meals were cold. All day brunch had cold chips, came back warmed, but egg was like rubber. Had to chase for the two burger meals to be returned! Could see them sitting on pads for few minutes. Two burgers with cold chips came back luke warm and burger dried out! They were not even busy when we ordered. Not great. I doubt I will eat here again!! Very disappointing

Good quality fish and chips cooked for you.

Three night stay at this hotel. We had a large room on the front but were not bothered by the traffic noise. The room was very comfortable and clean. The decor was outdated but they are apparently in a refurbishment programme. Breakfast was super, plenty on offer and hot food excellent. The young girls that run the front of house were very friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Good value for money.

We visited here for a Sunday roast, great value for Money, £14.95 which includes an alcoholic or soft drink. Very friendly & helpful staff, along with a nice selection of real ales.

The carvery and the week lunch time menu was amazing. We had a carvery on Sunday which was all fresh meat, potatoes and vegetables- all of it was delicious 😋 we then had sandwiches and chips at lunch time on Monday before we travelled home and it was one of the best lunches we’ve had in Mundesley where we visit every year!

Great Sunday lunch, great staff and atmosphere. Have already booked again for a Saturday night. Recently moved to the area so will definitely make the most of this very welcoming pub/ restaurant

I cannot recommend breakfast with Santa enough. It was amazing. My 3 year old, myself and my mother were greeted at the door by elves who had an activity pack and breakfast ready for my little one, which was prepared really well and allergy free for him which I'm really impressed about. The adult breakfast came quickly and was really good. Followed by songs and Santa, who I can say is the best Santa we've ever seen. The layout, interaction and every detail was amazing! This is our 2nd year doing this and we will continue every year. Thank you Dutch Marketplace!
