This meal was amazing. The food, 10/10. The service, 11/10. Our waiter Bruce was so kind and even told us a deal on the app to get our meal cheaper that was active on that day. He was so helpful and deserved the tip we left him. Give him a raise and that cheff should be cooking alongside Gordon Ramsey. Amazing all around.

We ate at the Foxburrow on New Year's Day, whilst staying at the Premier Inn on the same site. It was very quiet, but we were given a warm welcome from the staff and we were well looked after throughout. There were notices up about limited stock due to the time of year, and I imagine because the Festive Menu has just finished the day before. However, everything we wanted was available, so that was a good start! I can't remember the names of the two staff who served us, but they were both really helpful and friendly, especially the lady looking after diners throughout the evening. She was really welcoming and helpful and went out of her way to ensure we had a good night. The food was excellent. The selection for Starters was a little limited in that it was almost all deep-fried. I'd spotted a prawn cocktail on the menu in our Premier Inn hotel room, but as we had the reduced menu due to it having the Festive choices still displayed, the prawn cocktail had gone. However, between us we had Halloumi, chicken wings and calamari and all were really good. Then for mains, we all had the Steak Sampler - three different cuts of steak, with the usual trimmings, with peppercorn sauce. All three steaks were delicious and perfectly cooked (we opted for rare and they were nice and pink). The drinks selection was good. We had beer, wine and gin between us, then a bottle of wine to take back to our hotel rooms. We had the Premier Inn breakfast the next morning in the same place, all cooked fresh to order, and all very good. Again, the welcome was friendly and helpful. We would definitely return if staying in the area again.

Oh dear Highflyer Ely. From the looks of your reviews you had a terrible December 2024. Overworked staff, staff that had no idea or direction on what they were doing etc. We attend here for a family meal. While the food was ok the service was appalling. No table service, no christmas atmosphere. Then to be told we didn't opt in for a festive menu so we didn't get crackers! It's Christmas, surely that's a given!. Our seating arrangements were completely messed up leaving myself suggesting I have my meal in my lap! Then to be asked if we want dessert and coffees but only have the table for another 20 minutes really rounded things off nicely! NOT! And should we have the nerve to complain after spending a small fortune the manager comes back with nothing but excuses and puts the blame back on the customer! How can ALL the customers in December be wrong!? With responses like that from management it's no wonder people are escalating concerns to head office!!!!

Such a shame that the Toby have stopped peeling the potatoes. They are jacket spuds in gravy not roast spuds! Everything else is lovely but the most important part of a good roast is the spuds. You may be lucky and get the odd one that has been peeled and they are lovely. It’s the same every time. Such a lazy thing to do. A bit like all these restaurants at the moment not bothering to peel their chips and calling it rustic skin on chips! No you just have skipped peeling them! You cannot get away with whole potatoes though as the Toby now is. Totally does not taste like a roast spud. The thing is I don’t even think they can say oh it’s how we do them because there is the odd one that is peeled! Please sort this out. Every one around us was saying the same thing. All lovely apart from the weird pretend roast spuds. Staff as always are great. Its was not a one off thing either its been the same the last three visits. I had a carvery back in November and they were all peeled then. I just think I was very lucky.

10 members of our family had breakfast at the Beef Eater on the morning of Sunday 29 Dec. We all enjoyed our meals, although we were seated at two different tables due to the volume of people in the restaurant. The tables and seats were clean and everything was well organised. We had the Premier breakfast starting with croissants and pancakes (with honey), and fresh juice from the choice of orange, apple or cranberry. We then went on to the cooked breakfasts (2 of these being vegetarian meals) . The waitron who took our order was polite, well dressed, and most helpful in telling us what our options were. In no time at all our breakfasts arrived, and were exactly what we ordered. We followed the meal with coffees. My only complaint was that the ladies toilets were not very pleasant. 2 desperately needed cleaning, a third had the door hanging from an unattached hinge on the door frame, so it couldn't be closed. Only 1, out of the 4 toilets, only was ok to use. I mentioned this to the person running ‘front of house’ and he said he’d get it seen to. Parking was right outside the front door which made our visit very easy, so we’ll definitely be back.

Had breakfast in Estuary arches many times but never again. Food was very average and at £20 a head with a tea very expensive. White cheap thin bread for toast and some of the food was cold. Charged extra if wanted scrambled instead of poached/fried. One small sausage, one bacon, one hash brown and beans £13.95 plus £1 extra for scrambled egg. Two halves of the worst white bread. Steer clear - there are better places to have a breakfast along there.

Incredibly disappointing. We are regular visitors to Wells having owned a caravan at Pinewoods for 10 years. The Globe was always our go to for food and drinks when in the town and we had always vowed to stay there on day. This was our first time with you and will sadly be our last. The room, the service and the overall experience makes it an easy decision to stay elsewhere next time. A real shame.

We visited the Shorehouse for lunch on a Monday and it was the first time we had been for a few years. They have updated the internal design and everything felt fresh and clean, the salad bar was a little more spacious than before. The staff were really friendly and capable. Quick to say hello and take our order. We had Charlotte who did a great job and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The food was good and the portions were a decent size. Broad menu with options for kids, adults, meat eaters and vegans. The only shortfall for me was probably the salad bar which was fine but always a little messy with everyone before you having dropped and dripped sauces and dressings everywhere. Still, it was fresh and fine for what you pay. Overall a nice cheerful lunch and we would pop back another time.

Extremely disappointed and annoyed to find that upon arrival for our Christmas Lunch party booking, the reserved area for our group which had been booked weeks ago and re-confirmed as recently as a week before the party had not been saved and resulted in us being crammed onto a small table instead. In addition, whilst the starters and the desserts were enjoyed by everybody, the main Christmas lunch course was also very disappointing, not being served hot and with ‘dry’ turkey, plus rock hard roast potatoes and brussel sprouts!
