Nice friendly town pub, a great place to enjoy a drink with your friends. It is also enjoyable for people who like Sports TV etc. All drinks are well priced. Unfortunately, there was no food on offer, but it was a Monday evening. However, you could by the usual crisps, nuts, etc. The ladies' toilets, we're quite smelly, but clean. This is very much a locals pub, but it was quite busy. Everyone is made welcome, even your four-legged friends. The Pack Horse is kept very warm and cosy on these cold winter nights. There is plenty of seating, inside and out.

Went in hoping to get a decent drink of beer as the Packhorse pub is listed as a real ale inn, what a disappointment as there was only one beer and that was John Smith's and anyone who drinks real ale will tell you that John's is probably the last beer they would ever choose so a big thumbs down to the packhorse and will not return, wake up landlord as not everyone drinks lager or run of the mill beer, there are hundreds of micro breweries and a vast number of cutomers who drink their beers.

I can not believe in 2017 that a pub like the packhorse would exist. It really has opened my eyes to society. What I witnessed was scenes from Sean of the dead. It was hurrendous, 90% of them were on another planet and drugged up. Why would any landlord allow this? It doesn't say much about them! To what we witnessed the Landlady was very rude and ignorant. This pub really is abysmal!

A wise man once told me - "Never trust a pub with a flat roof", never have truer words been spoken... The Pack Horse at Royston - what a compete shambles this place is, bad food, worse service, and it looks like it last saw a decorator in the 1940's. The toilets smell like a Portaloo after 3 days at Glastonbury and the staff all look like they've been on Jeremy Kyle a few times at least. We had visited this place a number of times with our aunt that lived in the village for food, and booked it for the wake of her funeral. Believe me when I say this was our last choice, we were made to feel like we were doing then a favour by booking venue in the first place. We were changed £135 for a buffet to feed 8 people. Once we had finished the wake we asked for some cling film to take the left overs and were told cling film was not included in the price of the booking with no apology or even any empathy. The exact statement was "it's on your booking form that we don't provided cling film". We had to go to Asda to get the items needed to take the left overs to St George's Cript. We were even told we couldn't take the tinfoil plates the food was presented on, they were tinfoil throw away plates for god sake..!!! A complete disgrace, I'm ashamed for then to run a business in such a manor. Not the way we wanted to see my aunt off. I'm sad for the loss of my aunt. However, least I never have frequent this utter dive again.

This is our second visit to The Packhorse and again we weren't disappointed. We went with 2 friends, we all had a starter the prawn cocktail was huge. One of us had the mixed grill which came on a board with steak, sausage, gammon, hash brown, mushrooms and a little basket with chips, it looked really nice, one had the chicken with bbq sauce with bacon and cheese, one had lamb chops and one had the lasagna. All the meals came with really nice chunky chips and salad. We were all too full for a sweet. The waitress was really friendly and attentive. The chef was high class. Will defiantly return.

There was a good choice on the menu and also on the specials bored, the prices were reasonable and would suit all pockets. I had the carbonara tagleatelle which was new on the board, was very nice just a little too much sauce. The presentation was good with plenty on your plate. The staff were attentive and helpful even though there was another birthday party as well as other diners nothing was too much trouble.
