Wonderful meal, service was great, no complaints. Meals were served hot and in a very prompt time. Would certainly recommend and will definitely return.

Website states it closes at 11 but it closes a lot earlier, actually 9 on a Sunday. Beware.

Really lovely pizzas and good pasta. Generous portions. Friendly, attentive service. Seems a completely different place to when they just opened last year and were a little understaffed and overwhelmed. Massive improvement. We will definitely visit again.

Lovely food, First time i been in The blue Lion and i was so impressed whit my partner. We had delicious food and because I’m professional chef i can tell the food was fresh,the calamari was crispy the risotto and carbonara was just perfectly made. Atmosphere was good and chill whit nice and friendly staff. Definitely will back .Well done.

Really pretty little pub and restaurant. The food was pretty good. However, the risotto eatalia only had one prawn in the whole dish! The flavour of the rice was really nice though. The meatballs could also use a little more seasoning in the meat. We would come again to try different things off the menu.

I really enjoyed our meal, but accidentally left my water bottle behind and when i rang up to enquire about it, I was assured I would receive a call back about whether it was found. Sadly, the phone call never came and although I followed it up with a text message, I still received no response. In the end, I took the chance and returned to the restaurant to find out if the bottle had been handed in. The same waitress was present and popped into the kitchen and came back holding my water bottle. I mentioned that I had rung up about it, but she dismissed my comment, with "I couldn't care less smile" or "Yes, I heard about your call, but chose to ignore it". I thanked her and left the pub, but this experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth. Considering our party spent nearly £200 on the day of our visit, I'm not at all impressed by Blue Lion's response!!

Superb place with top of the line, authentic Italian food, whether on site or take away. The owner Giuseppe is also a really good sport and his menu is very reasonably priced for the quality he provides.

Visited on a Monday lunchtime. We were warmly welcomed in. Had a good sized, comfortable table for 5 adults. Menu is extensive with some standard favourites and a good selection of uncommon dishes. Meals were well presented and well prepared. Vanilla ice cream is a must. Super! Well done. Thanks very much. If I lived locally I would return more often.

A quiet Monday lunchtime for 5 of us....and we didn't realise that on Monday, pizzas are 2 for 1 ! Staters were excellent, pizzas were excellent, and for dessert, the homemade vanilla ice cream is a must....with a double espresso to follow. Service was great too. Highly recommend this place!

The food was excellent here, met friends for dinner and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Can definitely recommend the lasagne and the garlic bread was the best I have tasted in a long time. We have been infrequent visitors here over the years as it has never really lived up to expectation, so after it had been in new management for a few months we thought we’d give another chance, that was certainly a mistake. We called ahead, it being 7pm Friday and booked a table for around 8pm. On arrival we began to wonder, 4 other couples were scattered in opposite corners of the pub, the ambiance was somewhat “package holiday “ dining room, with some annoyingly inoffensive music. Service was timely if a little plastic. The menu was fairly classical Italian, we chose an antipasti platter to start and spaghetti dishes to follow, carbonara and puttanesca respectively. A freshly baked pizza base arrived in lieu of bread for the table, it was nice but a little one dimensional without some oil etc. The antipasti was nicely presented but with the exception of the prosciutto a disappointing mix of supermarket fayre with vaguely Mediterranean association. The chunks of unripe Brie/camembert and baguette alongside thick doorsteps of chorizo and bland brine soaked black and green olives from a jar, made an odd foil for the Italian charcuterie and supermarket pesto!! We grazed for a while (there was a healthy amount on the platter mind) until the waitress came accusingly to ask if we wanted our mains, mildly shocked we accepted. What arrived was not the most aesthetically pleasing plates of spaghetti you could imagine, spread flat on the plate and barely hanging on to any “gloss” they may once of had. We were hungry and shocked so just tucked in. ( At this point I feel I should mention that my wife is first generation Italian British born and both her parents are fine cooks, I myself am a sometime chef publican, hotelier so we both know at the very least what we should expect.) The pasta was attempting to be al dente, it was not quite that cooked! The sauces were, well I have no words, we managed 20% and sat dazed waiting for service. We asked for the bill and no comment was made of our obvious disappointment, in fact all staff avoided any further eye contact, I paid at the bar and expressed our disappointment with the pasta and was offered an apology but nothing else, I dislike confrontation so we quietly left and we find ourselves here. Sadly we will never return and I would encourage others to avoid at all costs.

Went with a friend and the food was so over salted and bad we sent it back. The first time either of us have ever returned food. The waitress was barely interested. It was a Sunday evening and we were the only customers which probably sums it up.

This restaurant is very much open, now as an authentic Italian run by the wonderful and friendly Giuseppe. We went as a family of six with grandparents on a Sunday and had a mixture of Italian food and Sunday roast which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. My meatball starter (polpette) and creamy tomato pasta (gallo) were so tasty. Everyone else sent back clean plates too! The food is plentiful and good value with an array of options. The interior of the pub has retained the olde pub charm and the ales were just as good as ever. I understand that they will shortly add a few more “pub classics” to the menu, but there’s currently a great choice of Italian food. I strongly recommend giving it a try under the new owners.

Went here for dinner on Wednesday evening, not overly impressed, had chicken which was OK, potatoes not very chrispy and swimming in gravey. The gentleman serving us was pleasant but came to take our plates before we were finished, so had to ask for a bit more time, maybe it was because we were the only ones eating? We've been here before and had a lovely lunch, bit different this time.

I don't know where to start, I booked a table for a family occasion for inside, and on arrival I was told it was fully booked inside, lucky enough it was a nice evening and eventually got a table outside. We ordered a starter after a hour of waiting I went to ask where our food was and the waitress was very unhelpful and rude it ended up that another table had got our starter, no apologies. Eventually got our main meal and she wanted to bring our starter as well, food good but service very very poor, spoke to the manager/owner and got know response. I always try to support local businesses but this is one i will not be supporting again, very disappointed.

It has changed hands recently. We had two pizzas they were very good. We will be back.

Very disappointing Sunday lunch . Ok but no sauces with the meat . We had pork and when we asked for apple sauce they looked as if we had asked for the world . Most places have sauces as standard even if it comes from a jar . Apparently not here and this is letting them down as cannot recommend .

We had a very good meal. Service was prompt and food was served hot and it was reasonably priced. A good range of Italian food.

You can't take take away orders from the beach in Italy. Order messed up, despite giving them an hour and forty minutes notice. Staff actually in the pub blamed busy kitchen and owner not knowing what was going in in the pub. Have gone elsewhere.

Went there for a family birthday took a group of family we booked When we got there no table was set up for us so there had to push tables together not a good start. We had a drink in the garden first we saw a steady flow of pizzas going out on takeaway. When we got inside we ordered our food the waitress took our order with no comments. She then came back and told us that one order was not available so one person had to select another option. Then she came back a second time and told us they had only 3 pizza bases left so one person had to select another main also they could not give garlic bread with another meal. Felt like they forced us to have a different main because they must have known they had a limited number but was ok to do takeaway. Then two mains did not turn up with the others had to wait for one main they tried to turn put on the table after all the rest of us had finished. So 2 meals did not come out with rest.😩 We wanted some parmigiana on our Italian food only to be told they had run short and was keeping it for the kitchen 😒 Then we tried to order Diet Coke to drink again only to be told run out again. We were never offered a desert felt like they just wanted to get rid so they could shut up. Not a way to run a business and want repeat customers. Will not be returning.😩😩😩

Saw the adverts that the pub had band on so thought we have a evening out, when we got there went in to order only to be told no soft drinks and 2 of the 3 lagers were out. Second visit and second time this has happened.. What was meant to be a enjoyable dinner listening to a bank with friends ended up with us leaving early. Very dissapointed won't be visiting again

This is the 2nd time we have been here and won't be going again. Last time there was no lager this time no lager except anstell.. no gas for soft drinks so no coke or lemonade. There was a band on which brought out a lot more people so the pub should have made sure there was enough drinks available for this occasion.

Distinctly average - nothing homemade about their bread, straight out of a packet, and insanely salty risotto. If you want an authentic Italian meal go to the Pergola in Harston. But staff were kind and helpful :-)

Very disappointing!! The ambiance was awful, the room was chilly and we were seated next to a large fridge. It’s hard to get a G&T wrong but even that was flat. The food was mediocre at best with many dishes off the menu. The bruschetta was served on large, soft white rolls which had gone soggy. Awful! Service was poor and the whole place has a neglected feel. Will definitely not be repeating the experience!

Oh dear Blue Lion ...what happened?? Not been here for many years but as I had no reason to suspect it wasn't as good as its always been, I booked a table to take my friend out to lunch. What a disappointment, the conservatory wasn't clean, glass roof covered in detritus and bird poo, cobwebs inside and leaves on floor. As previous lady reviewer said one ladies toilet no lock also toilet paper/ hand towels not replaced appropriately. My friend and I both ordered pasta. Normally pasta would arrive in bowls ( to preserve heat) but both of these dishes came on overly large plates, meaning food didn't retain heat. Spaghetti bolognaise wasn't nice, meat was an odd brown colour and distributed within spaghetti ...my friend commented her pasta was rather more than ' al dente '. We didn't bother with desserts or coffee preferring to take these elsewhere. I believe now that this pub has changed hands...sadly nothing like the Blue Lion of old !! Would not recommend 😕

I had the Pollo AI Porcini which was tasty (a touch salty) but was let down on presentation, the mushrooms looked more like button mushrooms than porcini to me, and the beans hadn't all had their stalks removed. Of the two waiters, the younger one was friendly and helpful but lacked training, the other seemed rather grumpy and curt. Neither made a check-back during the meal. Perhaps overworked\under staffed. Only two of the desserts were available, which was a pity, so I can't comment on that.

Food in the garden with a cold drink was good. The inside is a little bare, not much atmosphere . Ladies Toilets light didn't work, and neither did one of the locks. Would go back when visiting family in the area .

We were really looking forward to our Anniversary dinner and we were wanting to try our local pub as it has recently been taken over but our experience was TERRIBLE!!! Husbands bread was burnt my calamari had a hair in the batter the waitress did take it away and said it had been replaced did apologies but no offer of a drink or discount 😕 took my son to the toilet and out of the two toilet's one didn't have a lock and my husband said that the other set of toilets the ladies had to use the gent's. The cleanliness was appalling we sat in the conservatory table cloths were stained the floor had not been swept also lots of cobwebs on the ceiling. I regret not taking any photos to put on here. We will not be eating there again!!

Went with family and small dog (who was made welcome with water and treats). The staff were friendly and the Italian food was delicious including several choices for the vegetarians in our party . New review since change of management. Was 5 star, now 2 star... 1 star for food. In so far as the cooking this does not come close to the previous owners. Garlic bread, not good. Lasagne, not good. Meatballs, not good. It's funny that 1 mile down the road is probably the finest example of Italian food in all of Cambridge. Nice staff. Really nice premises. I wish them luck in this competitive Italian restaurant market.

I've been coming to the Blue Lion for many years and I really enjoyed our latest visit with the pub under new management. I love Italian food and will definitely be back.

Booked a table for four and requested a quieter area for a business dinner. On arrival we were greeted by a young lady, I said we had booked a table. I was not asked under what name, no welcome, no smile. Shown to the main dining area. The menu cards were really tatty and did not instill us with much confidence. The description on the website was home cooked food. We ordered a variety of starters and only two mains as we were not confident in the food we were going to get. I suspect that the risotto was heated in a microwave as the plate was extremely hot. The Gavi wine we ordered was good. The staff are very young and inexperienced, unfortunately with no guidence in place to help them. The restaurant filled up in all areas so many people must enjoy eating here. Unfortunately we will not be back.
