Needed somewhere that did a pint and didn’t charge a fortune. The hotel we were at was RUBBISH. So tried here. Small car park. Beer garden was full of people enjoying the sunshine. We sat in and watched the olympics on the tv. Friendly staff. Good pint, small choice of alcohol free lager.

Walked in to find a guy being ejected by the landlord for assaulting a woman by licking her face. The landlord was telling this guy that the woman had over reacted but he should leave. Very cowardly. The woman had been assaulted in a disgusting and lecherous manor but the landlord didn't have the backbone to tell him. I say again, he's a coward. I went to the bar to order a drink, only to be told I had to drink outside as my dog was scaring people. It was 0 degrees outside. Everyone around me in the pub had no idea what he was talking about as my dog was very friendly and well behaved. The solace I get from not being able to ever go back there again is that he won't be landlord for long as it is clearly evident that he is losing grip on everything and will surely not last there as the proprietor. Such a shame as it used to be such a great pub

We visited for a work lunch but unfortunately several of the food items and drinks were unavailable. We ordered and then waited a long time for food and when it came some of it was very disappointing. The meat feast pizza could have been great but as it was served we were told that they had cut the corner off as it was too burnt!! The other edges and a lot of the pepperoni were inedible, black and burnt to a crisp! My scotch egg would have been delicious but again was very over cooked with the egg yolk being rock hard. The chap that served us was a nice chap and as we had waited so long for the food and were already really over-running we just got on with it but sadly we would not go back and I absolutely would not reccomend to any other local companies as a business lunch venue!

We booked a table before our family of three adults and two children, went to watch the football at Histon FC. on new Year's day 2022. The reviews we read and the website text paint a very different picture from the one we saw. The outside areas are shambolic and delapidated, the so-called conservatory where we dined, had filthy window frames with damp mold and dead flies. The furniture was old fashioned and the biggest problem - many of the reasonable looking menu's items were not available. We made our orders from the limited menu and then saw the waitress running to the shop for supplies (bread buns for the burgers). To be fair the food, when it came about 30 mins after ordering, was quite decent, hot and tasty. This pub seems to rely on its sports bar in the main. It is not a wholly pleasant dining experience.

I would like to say thank you for the great food we have experienced this week. I like to choose food I do not get at home and the menu is big enough so that I will beable to very my choice. My parents went for the first time for lunch and had the belly pork Tuesday. I had the duck confit with girlfriends at lunchtime Wednesday. I saw the Squid tapa so visited after Pilates Thursday. Then mum, dad, my brother and I celebrated my mum's birthday Saturday lunchtime! Firstly the food is fresh and delicious but also there is plenty of parking, it's right by the guided busway or like me it's a 12min zoom on the bike from Chesterton! Each time we all had friendly and attentive service no matter the time of day or who was serving. Looking forward to the Chiver's Jam Festival at the end of August. Considering the bands that are playing at the pub I'm presuming 'Jam' is a play on words!! 😆 It's how I explained it to my dad anyway!

We were overnighting at the Cambridge Holiday Inn (HI), and hadn't been impressed by the lunch food there - so decided to seek out a local alternative pub/restaurant - within walking distance of the HI. Found the Railway Vue on Tripadvisor - so decided to try it. This is no way a "destination" pub, it's not trendy - it's a typical town/suburban pub. We went there in the evening for a meal, where we received a friendly welcome, drinks (brought to the table) etc. Decent choice of dishes on the menu, and I selected chicken caesar salad and a side of triple cooked chips. I do like caesar salads - and this was one of the best I have had, certainly one with the most chicken ever. As for the "triple cooked ships" - these were fantastic - big, crispy, but with soft fluffy potato inside. My wife ordered prawn/avocado salad - which was great - but a bit lacking in prawns, but no worries - I had so much chicken I was giving it away!! So that's it, the Railway Vue - nice pub that sells good, decent, reasonably priced food. It's interesting to read that reviewers have found a miserable/nasty person running this pub. May be they exist - but we didn't encounter anybody like that,

We were staying nearby and spotted this pub on the map when looking for somewhere local to eat. When we first arrived our impressions were that it appeared to be a sports bar as there was a busy outdoor seating area with a big screen TV showing a sporting event. Inside the decor was slightly dated and the place was virtually empty but we had a very warm welcome. There was a wide variety of food choices from traditional mains to tapas dishes. Our party of 4 ordered 2 mains and a selection of tapas dishes. Potion size was large and the quality was good.

Do not go to this pub! the owner of the pub is a nasty piece of work even her own staff seemed terrified of her, she was screaming at people who were not wearing masks at the pub but her OWN STAFF including her weren’t wearing a mask! The owner then went over to one of my friends table and sat herself down and started smoking a cigarette whilst speaking to my friends who all looked very confused and worried as to why she just say herself Down which is also breaching covid. Drinks were half full when we ordered them overall the staff wasn’t great besides one of the waiters who asked me and my friend if we were okay and apologied about the awful experience we had with this woman who claims to own the pub, her name is lauretta. Never going here again she either must be a alcoholic or have anger problems as she was so rude aswell as very hypocritical in what she was saying as none of her staff or her were even wearing a mask. It’s one thing telling someone to put a mask on fair enough but the way she was shouting at us and being extremely aggressive was not on.

Friendly, attentive service and we were made very welcome. We had the fish and chips and it was truly excellent, far superior to the usual pub fish supper. We had a family gathering of 31 people at the Holiday Inn Cambridge last weekend but AMAZINGLY they couldn't manage to supply us all with an evening meal !One of our party found this pub within walking distance and they said they could feed us. It was all arranged in advance of course and we had sent our meal requests in advance. When we arrived they had set up tables in the conservatory, arranged so that we were all together. Incredibly, all the meals ALL came out in a constant stream so that we were all more or less eating together. The quality of the food and the value was amazing and everyone had what they ordered. I can not compliment the bar staff, kitchen staff and chef enough on their skills and professionalism.I would highly recommend this pub to anybody

It was our first visit to the Willow Tree in a few years. We have always enjoyed the food in the past. We booked a dome for a special family celebration, an early evening dinner booking. We were "greeted" by a wholly disinterested lady (the manager?) and a few young staff who were friendly enough, if a bit chaotic. We were showed to our dome, which was charming and beautiful. One of the servers helped to set up the Bluetooth speaker and then also helped some people who just arrived at another table who kept connecting to ours! It was a shame that the menu on Saturday evening was different from the Autumn menu advertised on the website, with fewer appealing options - no pork belly, no venison, no tarte tatin. The food service was extremely slow, especially considering we were the first diners arriving in the early evening. Nibbles were brought late, after the starters rather than with the drinks. Our starters, when they eventually arrived, were delicious. The scallop dish contained only 2 scallops. The scotch egg was lovely and more generous. The mains were extremely disappointing. The steak (sirloin) was apparently very well cooked, served with fries and an absolutely tiny amount of sauce, no accompanying veg or salad. For £35 this was underwhelming. The herb crusted pork was actually horrible. Two of our party ordered this, and had to scrape off the herb crust - whole cumin seeds and other seared spices inelegantly applied in a thick pungent layer. It was a very, very unpleasant flavour. We wondered whether the chef had actually tasted this creation. The pork loin itself was nothing special, tough and worse than we would cook at home. Three people had burgers, they all said they were just fine. The portions of fries, though tasty, were terribly inconsistent in serving size some people having twice as many as others. Everyone agreed the fries were the best part of the mains! We did raise the concerns about the disappointing mains to the server, who was very apologetic and nice about it and said they would tell chef. Finally, we chose some puddings, and two of the orders came out wrong, the crumbles served with ice cream instead of custard. The crumble looked like it was served in a dog bowl. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious, but very small indeed for £10 per portion. Overall, slow and inconsistent service, very poor & disappointing food, and an expensive evening. Our bill came to over £320 for 6 diners, only two people had alcoholic drinks. We were not offered any deductions for the poor food or slow service. The best part about the evening was the ambience of the twinkling domes and the dramatic willow tree in the garden.
