Solid old-school pub! Good selection of beers on tap and alcohol-free options too. Lose a star for not stocking scampi fries.

Very acceptable, Landlord was pleasantly welcoming. Real fires blazing. Good selection of reasonably priced ales. Locals seemed friendly and we ended up playing darts with them.

. . top bloke; -)

As you face the front, the actual bees in the wall are to your left side near the roof. Busy and fascinating to watch. The pub has two sections to the left is the gossip and supping of drinks with friends, TV and friendly natter from Lori the pub landlord. The right-hand side is the restaurant, seating by what promises to be a very welcoming open fire in the winter !! Food generally served during their busiest times - which I understand is Thursday evening through to Sunday. Best to telephone and book. Up one step more tables for dining. Basic menu, but do not let that put you off. Last week Roast Pork - stuffing me thinks was inside the joint and all the trimmings - lushest roast potatoes (had to have seconds !) We visited again yesterday - Roast lamb and all trimmings. Nice day, others seen there seated in gardened area. The scenic route back to the car took us down brick made steps, through a trellis area which surprised us by opening to a very large garden area and wooded bit just beyond. Beautiful. Marie's food is amazing !! stolen pastry from the gentleman who accompanied me - melted in the mouth ! One downside, the place feels tired but has so very much potential. This is lifted by what seems like many regulars (which I hope we will be one). One gentle suggestion, along and leaning over the path, are the bushes which seem overgrown, this hides the signage and also deflects away from the strong potentiality of passing trade (the beautiful garden cannot be easily seen from the road) unless you know it is there ! Would be so nice to see Lori and Marie doing well. I wish them all the smiles they can muster !! Cant wait to get back there again.

We made a point of trying a new pub every month ad this was my choice in March ... driven past it and looks a good spot. It makes a point I think of being good value and for locals .... its not a gastro-pub , and as such if you are looking for that 'something extra' it may not be the place for you. It was a cold night when we went and the fire was lit but only just... local customers were at the bar and welcoming but the atmosphere was lacking . The food is good value and well presented , beer well kept. I am sure the really nice aspect , and its outdoor garden will make this a pleasant spot in the summer.

In a quaint old Village setting the Bees in the Wall offers home cooked food in unpretentious and friendly atmosphere. The staff are cheerful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The Beer is truly excellent with great choice. There is a large Garden where you can sit in the Summer and children are made welcome. Lunchtime snacks or evening meals are equally good. A fantastic find for a pleasant night out.

I like the Bees because it's just basic and kind of old style. No sticky menus or food served on stupid things; like a chopping board or a roofing slate! They don't do a big menu - I think there were about 4 or 5 dishes last time and pretty standard pub grub like scampi and fish and chips. They were doing Sunday roast which I didn't have but I thought it looked good. It's like going to the pub 20 or 30 years ago and that's what I like about it.

I was tempted to give a Very good overall rating, however I don't believe it its classed as "Very good" Good Absolutely, worth a visit, "Absolutely" Its Friendly Cosy and quint essentially English. Lovely location with lovely little cottages near by. The fish and chips were good, I had chilli and rice, nice. The Sunday lunch wasn't the best my brother had, but again nice. I think the menu is a little limited. Would I come back. Absolutely. Well worth a visit. Will be lovely in the summertime to sit in the beer garden :)

Went for another meal in this cosy pub and once again received a great welcome and started with one of the many real ales on offer. Went for the fish & chips again as has so much flavour in a thin crispy beer batter and homemade chips. Managed to find space for a phenomenonal sticky toffee pudding...yum. Great value for money.

I was feeling lazy. Hubby sent me to Shelford chippie. I couldn't be bothered to drive in, passed the bees in the wall and saw the fish and chip sign, popped in for them to take away. Got a diet coke and excellent service. We both thought it was the best fish and chips we had in years. Well done, next time we will both come in! Thank you.

I came here for a couple of pints of ale with one of my drinking companions. The pub is a very traditional English 'drinking pub' although there is also a restaurant part to the establishment. The landlord was very friendly and talked to us about the local beers. The beer was well maintained and reasonably priced. There is no music and the atmosphere is very convivial, which is perfect for sinking a few pints. The decor is old world and warming.I would thoroughly recommend this pub for drinks and a chat.

Visited this pub on a Friday evening with relations. The menu is very limited ( about 7 items) however the evening we visited two items were not available. We were not told this until after we had ordered. Therefore everything left on the menu had chips with it.The food was hot and well cooked, if basic. The staff were friendly, but struggled to cope with about 20 people in the restaurant and the bar.Our plates were not collected, and we had to tell them that we wanted to order our desserts. The food was not over priced, but they could do with a bit more variety and another member of staff.

Rather than eating at motorway services, we turned off the M11 looking for a pub which might offer a bit of character and a tasty lunch, and we found it in abundance at the 'Bees in the Wall', what a great name.We arrived at 14:00, just as their advertised service finished, but the friendly landlord made an effort and we selected offered haddock and chips, which we were advised was fresh in that day. I think both my wife and I agreed that this was the best fish and chips we had ever eaten out, lightly coated in batter infused with herb the fish tasted delicious. We followed this with home made crumble and custard, delicious. I would recommend this hidden gem to any weary traveller.

It was our first visit to the Willow Tree in a few years. We have always enjoyed the food in the past. We booked a dome for a special family celebration, an early evening dinner booking. We were "greeted" by a wholly disinterested lady (the manager?) and a few young staff who were friendly enough, if a bit chaotic. We were showed to our dome, which was charming and beautiful. One of the servers helped to set up the Bluetooth speaker and then also helped some people who just arrived at another table who kept connecting to ours! It was a shame that the menu on Saturday evening was different from the Autumn menu advertised on the website, with fewer appealing options - no pork belly, no venison, no tarte tatin. The food service was extremely slow, especially considering we were the first diners arriving in the early evening. Nibbles were brought late, after the starters rather than with the drinks. Our starters, when they eventually arrived, were delicious. The scallop dish contained only 2 scallops. The scotch egg was lovely and more generous. The mains were extremely disappointing. The steak (sirloin) was apparently very well cooked, served with fries and an absolutely tiny amount of sauce, no accompanying veg or salad. For £35 this was underwhelming. The herb crusted pork was actually horrible. Two of our party ordered this, and had to scrape off the herb crust - whole cumin seeds and other seared spices inelegantly applied in a thick pungent layer. It was a very, very unpleasant flavour. We wondered whether the chef had actually tasted this creation. The pork loin itself was nothing special, tough and worse than we would cook at home. Three people had burgers, they all said they were just fine. The portions of fries, though tasty, were terribly inconsistent in serving size some people having twice as many as others. Everyone agreed the fries were the best part of the mains! We did raise the concerns about the disappointing mains to the server, who was very apologetic and nice about it and said they would tell chef. Finally, we chose some puddings, and two of the orders came out wrong, the crumbles served with ice cream instead of custard. The crumble looked like it was served in a dog bowl. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious, but very small indeed for £10 per portion. Overall, slow and inconsistent service, very poor & disappointing food, and an expensive evening. Our bill came to over £320 for 6 diners, only two people had alcoholic drinks. We were not offered any deductions for the poor food or slow service. The best part about the evening was the ambience of the twinkling domes and the dramatic willow tree in the garden.

Reluctant to write a review as we wanted to keep this bistro a secret. The bistro really is good value for money. We go for the Sunday Roast every couple of weeks and it never disappoints. well cooked and presented. Lovely peaceful eating area. A special shout out to the staff, really helpful. If visiting use the park and ride car park and follow the path to the Hospice.
