This is not the nearest pub to us but has become our local because of the amazing food, great atmosphere and attentive welcome and service from Colin and Amanda, who are great hosts. The Black Horse is very dog-friendly as well (award-winning in fact!). Worth booking in advance for food to avoid disappointment and help give this great family-run business some idea of numbers. Highly recommend!

Love this place! It's in the village next to mine but it's just a short walk away. It is verging on pricey, but it is worth the price. Colin and Amanda (owners) are wonderful with guests and they always have a smile on their faces, even after a busy shift. With a sizeable beer garden out back and a few tables in the front, it's perfect for a drink in the sun or in the shade if you get too hot. It's a small solid wood bar with a generous choice of beers, ales (always one made locally) and gins or just a cup of tea. They also have a delectable selection of homemade cakes and sweet treats

After seeing a great menu on line my family book a surprise 60 birthday meal me .we arrived at 5.45 and then had to wait the pub to open in the car park ,the landlord turned up and said we open at 6 and left us outside .Once we found a way in through a back door the smell of the toilets hit us ,not in a good way .we were then shown to our table in the back room which was very cold and left the older members of the group leaving the coats on .Colin then brought us the menu's out to which there was a choice of 3or 4 starters and as many main courses. I choice ham egg and chip which was £12 and when it arrived was no bigger than my starter which was 5 calamari rings for £6 .it looked like a child had cooked it .not impressed with the pub or the food .Will definitely not be going back and would not recommend this place until they had sorted these issues.

I heartily endorse a visit to this establishment for a splendid outing. The ambiance is quite refined, with meticulous attention to the minutiae, all kept in tip-top condition. The fare is delightful, with the wraps and cappuccino being particularly commendable. Do try the mozzarella cheese and cakes as well. The proprietor, Collin, is most amiable and hospitable, making for a most agreeable afternoon.

This is a tough one to post about. Mixed feelings..... They happily accommodated our booking for a family lunch. On arrival, the place defiantly look shut, with no signs to the car park, we parked in the road and walked to the first door, which was shut. The other front door was not obvious so we eventually found our way in via the rear door. The staff were friendly but service was slow. The feeling, was this was either a hobby pub business, or they were inexperienced and giving it a go, so full marks for that. The food was average and unexciting. Could have done better at home. Overall, they deserve better, but on this occasion our expectations were not met I'm afraid.

Went there for a quiet lunch under recently changed management. It was a Wednesday lunchtime so very quiet and a chance to chat to the landlord who was very friendly. It's a listed building which has been very nicely refurbished. They sell beer from a local micro brewery and home made cakes. The pork pie and the fritata were both excellent and the prices very reasonable. Leaflets on the tables advertise special evenings that include live music and quizzes. All in all a very enjoyable experience to be repeated.

Well you talk about a sleepy village pub with a bit of a reputation as a yo yo pub....Not any more...! Just had one of the best Italian meals outside Italy...lie not! Simple ingredients,no frills no arty food this is simple wholesome Italian food at its best, and it's a plateful! Fabulous pasta and chicken dish matched with a cracking red wine at a very reasonable price. Great atmosphere, easy going friendly staff. I was back in the Italian countryside where I spent a lot of time near Torino and Modena when I ate here tonight...that good. Worth a visit trust me. And....you must try the Lemonchello milk drink.. It's a family secret....and ...I have only had one this good in Modena. This a little bit of good old fashioned Italian cuisine and hospitality in the Cambridgeshire Countryside and its bloody fabulous. Return we shall...

We brought our two children on a whim one early lunchtime on a Saturday in December, knowing that it was very much a gamble whether we would get a table without a reservation. As we arrived just before 12.30 they kindly fit us in before a 1.30 reservation. This gave us plenty of time to enjoy the excellent fish (accompanied by only ok tartare, curry sauce and crushed peas) and chips and burger. The children's pasta and pesto were less of a hit, appeared unseasoned, though this may be a bonus to very health conscious parents who don't give their children salt. I bet the decorations with miniature Christmas trees throughout looks even nicer at night. All in all a pleasant experience.

I remember visiting this pub over 30 years ago when it was called the red lion. Really nice to see that they have kept the old fireplace, on a cold winters evening it was great to be able to sit near a real log fire. The Dome was toasty and warm, staff were really friendly, serving excellent cocktails. The full moon was out so we had the magic of dining under the moonlight in our dome.
