Chose the Plough as it was a half-way meeting point between ourselves & our friends. Read positive reviews about Sunday lunch before booking & the reviews proved largely accurate. 3 of us had roasts & 1 had a burger. The roasts were great (even on a later sitting), all seemed fresh, meat was perfectly cooked, lovely big crispy yorkshire puddings & lots of gravy! Burger was good, but not outstanding. The wine list was fantastic & selection by the glass was vast (in comparison with most pubs). Team were really friendly (albeit a little forgetful at times that saw us waiting longer than you might expect for drinks & coffees). There was a nice atmosphere & I would definitely recommend & come back again. Thanks to all the team

Booked online after hearing roaring reviews about the Plough’s Sunday Roasts. We arrived a little before our 14.15 booking, we waited a few minutes before being asked if we had a reservation, which they weren’t able to find for a few more minutes. We sat at the bar & ordered some drinks whilst a table for round for our reservation. We were then seated at a table for two, it did feel like somewhat of a wait to order our main meals. Although, there wasn’t many seated around the side of the restaurant that we were situated at, it felt we were a little forgotten about. We made sure we ordered quite quickly. I ordered a Mixed Meat Roast, which contains Beef, Lamb & Chicken. My fiancé ordered a Mixed Meat Roast & opted for no lamb. We ordered a side of Cauliflower Cheese to accompany our Roasts. Crest where credit is due, we didn’t have to wait long before our roasts were brought to our table. The Roasts come out with selected meat & Yorkshire pudding on a scoop of mash potato with a small jug of gravy & gravy already on the meat. A separate sharing bowl of vegetables; carrots, parsnips, celeriac & cabbage greens. Then, a big bowl of Cauliflower Cheese. The gravy smelt & tasted incredible. A full depth of flavour & richness. Although, I wish I had asked for more. Bigger gravy jugs needed! The Roast Chicken leg was the most flavoursome meat on the plate. It had a garlic & herb flavour, the chicken skin wasn’t soggy but had lots of flavour. I felt a little let down with the Roast beef & lamb. If I’m honest I was expecting more flavour & nice pink beef, plus melt in the mouth lamb. The vegetables were a nice accompaniments with the roast. The Cauliflower cheese packed lots of flavour & was plentiful. The Yorkshire pudding was somewhat lacking, quite tough. It wasn’t a terrible roast dinner but it wasn’t near one of the best I’ve had. I just expected a more up there worthy one of the best roasts in Cambridgeshire. The service was a bit hit & miss, the staff were lovely though. A lovely establishment but the roasts are lacking. I simply mention this as I think to the Plough are able to up their game. The pudding was very lacking. I chose the Camelised Apples & didn’t finish this as this pudding was not winning with flavours. Come on the Plough, I am rooting for you!

We have had a lot of Sunday roasts in Cambridge but this one is by far the best. Excellent service, accommodating our baby and pram and delicious food, the mushroom wellington was yummy, with loads of roast veggies and offering to keep my wife’s plate hot while she entertained our baby, then returning it to her with even more roast veg! A new favourite, we will be back!

I visited the restaurant one Sunday in October. Like most of the other customers, I expected a comfortable roast lunch. I was to be sadly disappointed. The atmosphere in the main dining room was far too busy. Listed here are a few of my personal observations; 1. On arrival to be told that we must leave after two hours. 2. The waitress was unable to take my coat in order to hang it up. The only hooks were between the backs of two closely placed diners. 3. Conversation was awkward due to a lot of hard surfaces and general overcrowding. 4. No wine menu was offered. 5. My pigeon was tough. Really tough. I could have done with a sharper knife and stronger wrists! 6. Staff had to constantly apologise for pushing behind me as they tried to deliver other diner's plates. To be positive, my apple based pudding was excellent. Nevertheless, I shall not be returning to The Plough in the near future .

What a great find. We were meeting friends and this was a fantastic half way point. The food was outstanding, everyone of us enjoyed every course we ordered, highlight for me was the celeric starters, and the salted caramel tart, we couldn’t find fault in anything. Excellent vegetarian options. The Service was attentive but not overpowering and no pressure to leave the table (booked at 1pm, left at 5.30pm) very relaxed atmosphere. Had my 40th party in the Plough’s marquee/beer garden at the start of September. The staff were accommodating as we stored cakes from morning until the party, we went in and out from 2pm with set up equipment for the bands etc and nothing was seen as an inconvenience or a problem. The food was high quality (buffet bbq) and Pasquale brought indoor fireworks for my cakes (I didn’t bring any candles, was trying to avoid a fuss!). A lovely touch. Extremely happy with how the party went. One of my absolute musts was a great beer selection on draught and I wasn’t disappointed. Thank you P and team 🥰

The Plough Cotton is your go-to spot when you need to park your car easily and let the kids loose in a play area while you chill. The indoor seating might have you straightening your posture with its formal vibe, but the outdoor area is where you can really kick back. They're big on accommodating your squad with reservations for large groups and the option to preorder—very VIP. The lamb plate serves up flavor in a small package, so I bulked up with some extra prawns just to hit the spot. The burger and fish n chips looked like they could satisfy a bear coming out of hibernation. Overall, The Plough Cotton delivers a pretty solid dining adventure!

A lovely setting, inside and out. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was presented beautifully and of a high standard. We also enjoyed the variety of wines. I had previously looked at an online menu and I believed there were more gluten free options but sadly not on the night I visited. The 'while you wait' Olive dish was wonderful and it had so many other little extras in it. My partner enjoyed the majority of his meal but he felt that the leek was undercooked. I enjoyed my starter but I expected a mousse and it certainly wasn't any kind of mousse. Not sure what that was all about. My main was good. The lamb was cooked beautifully, for me, and of good quality. My only quibble was that the dauphenoise potato was undercooked and the gravy was very rich and salty. All in all, we had a lovely evening and we were very satisfied.

A wonderful country village pub turned gastropub, just outside of Cambridge. Easy access and good parking for businesses, families and locals. There is also a large playground for children. A bonus for romantic couples AND businesses is the 4 eating areas. Private dining for up to maybe 20 staff, then a romantic area for couples, plus a very nice eating area around the bar, as well as a relaxing outside beer garden for sunny days. The food was superb, the staff efficient but a little lacking in personality, and the music didn't suit. But I am looking for faults at this point. This is a top pub and restaurant. Unfortunately the place is not what it looks or prices to go by! I had the stuffed ratatouille pepper with cous cous, which I have to say was not too bad. However, other meals included steak which the person who had said it wasn't great(definitely not worth £28) , a burger and chips which the portion of chips was about 9 chips. The pork belly bites.... Hmm.... I took a bite into one and it was just pure fat, no meat at all and I do mean zero meat! My partner said one of his was the same. It made me feel very sick and made me gag putting me right off having anymore. The service wasn't up to much either to be honest. None of the waitresses appeared like they wanted to be there. All very abrupt answers and not smiley. Four of our dishes came out ages after (2 of these 4 came out about ten mins after the other two) Outside seats are very uncomfortable. Then to add to it....... 15% service charge added. I'm aware this is optional but many people don't realise this(two of my party didn't know this). 15% is steep. We asked for it to be removed as it definitely wasn't worth £24 service. There was barely any interaction with us and when serving us it was as if they couldn't really be bothered. Definitely won't be hurrying back. Definitely nicer places.

He is obnoxiously rude, looked at his watch when we were late (we called ahead to let them know) made a face and let out a sigh. We were one person short, but I didn’t know that was going to happen. We usually love The Plough and have been dining here for years. Recently, the prices have increased, and I was disappointed to be paying £19 for an under par duck salad with hunks of unshredded meat and a very oily, unappetising dressing, which had been recommended by the server as the best salad on the menu. The tiny sliver of lemon meringue dessert (£9) had soggy pastry that looked like it was pre-made mass produced, alongside gloopy meringue. The service was great, but unfortunately, we weren't asked to comment on the quality of the food until after we had paid. I will think twice before booking again.

The food is not 'bad' as such, but just harks back to the standards of the 1970s. The fish tasted microwaved, either that or it was overcooked, and was just all so terribly bland. Frankly a microwaved supermarket bought meal would have been for flavoursome. Honestly, if the bill had come to £50 I would have let this lie, but I do object to paying £125 (for 2) on bang average sub-par cuisine. One positive, very nice waiting staff, but that alone is not enough to get me to return.

The only thing I wasn't keen on was the potato that came with the pork - compared to the rest of the food it seemed really sad and maybe needed a little more. However, the pork was amazing. Not only was the food delicious, the staff were extremely accomodating and made sure i was looked after throughout the course of my visit. I would recommend the Plough to anyone wanting a pleasurable dining experience and without will be coming again!

This is more a restaurant than it is a pub. However, the staff were extremely helpful and we sat on the pub chairs next to the fireplace. The Plough is a lovely place and the staff are very attentive. The food is expensive but this is not standard pub food. I had the fish and chip and paid more than elsewhere. I do have to say it was impressively fast service. To the extent I thought they had brought it to the wrong table. Also it was just perfect. The food was just superb. Yes I would go again but not call in as a pub. This is more a restaurant and in that sense I would call back. Wonderful

Great lunch at the Plough, Harriet really looked after us, I had the chicken Caesar salad which was nicely prepared. Great spot especially when the sun is out.

Beautiful old English pub with an amazing Italian flare, serving the best pizza this side of Naples! Can’t recommend highly enough. We have become regulars here due to the wonderfully authentic Italian menu, all freshly prepared to order. Also serve the most amazing Sunday Roasts and have an extensive take away menu. Always a warm and friendly welcome and there is a pretty garden for Al fresco dining, and plenty of free parking.

My wife and I went to this lovely pub with our dog for dinner. We booked a table in the bar area which is a real cosy bar. Everyone in the bar and the bar staff were so friendly. We sat there for a couple of hours having a drink plus dinner. The food was great, especially the home made pie. We will definitely return.
