We visited on a Sunday for dinner, recommend reserving a table in advance if you're a big group. Some outdoor seating front and back and seating inside including several large tables. This place has definitely seen some improvement recently with a revised menu offering better choices and the food we had was all good quality. We did find the service a bit hit and miss with plenty of people around several asking if our food was okay, but then none returning after we asked for menus or to pay. So service needs to improve a bit but I would still recommend.

Took my mother to the Kings Head for a Sunday roast. We both had the sirloin of beef and it was amazing. Despite booking a table upon arrival no table was available, staff had to ask a gentleman to move so a table near the bar could be utilised. This was not idea as bar was very busy and people were constantly knocking into my chair. Drinks order was taken but no drinks appeared, after about 15 minutes we were asked if we were ready to order but had not yet been given a menu! After another 15 minutes still no drinks or no order taken, we decided to leave. Obviously they were suffering from a staff shortage but we would not have minded waiting if we had been given a proper table in the restaurant section.

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic Sunday lunch at The Kings Head. We shared the homemade prawn crackers with sweet chilli sauce to start; they were served warm and absolutely scrummy. The roasts - one beef, one pork belly - were exceptional. The amount of meat (and gravy) was very generous, and everything was cooked to perfection. The pub is definitely all the better for the takeover by Deben Inns. We’ll be back very soon!

We had a lovely time here. We've often had lunch at the Kings Head but not dinner. Our son was visiting so we went on a Saturday evening. They were very accommodating. Menu was good with lots of choice. Our son had the squid to start with and said it was the best he'd ever tasted. Husband and I shared some bread as we didn't want starters. The bread was delicious - 3 different types and loads of it. My son and I both had steaks for our main course. They were cooked to perfection and really tasty. I didn't have a starter as I knew I'd be too full to manage my main course if I did, but I couldn't manage all the delicious chips as I'd had too much bread! The staff were lovely and attentive, despite being run off their feet. The only downside for us is that there was a band playing, so it was very noisy. The band was good, but our dog was a bit freaked. If I'd known there was going to be a band I'd have left the dog at home and booked a table in the (dog free) restaurant area not the bar. I'm so glad Deben Inns took this pub over, they've retained all the best bits about it. We are so lucky to have this within a 15 minute walk from us

We have had three meals at the pub since it changed hands. The inside is much brighter and very welcoming. The outside area is great for larger groups on a Friday evening in good weather. We think the staff are very welcoming, the food is good and though some drinks might be a tad more expensive than elsewhere we enjoy the very good house wine with fish and chips - especially when it is two 4 one fish and chips on a Friday evening. Customer service seemed satisfactory to begin with today (Fri 3 Nov) and the barman friendly. I ordered and paid for a vegetable chilli and a drink, not cheap at £17.20, sat down and waited. And waited and waited and waited! There were only a few people in the pub, about seven or eight. After thirty minutes, I approached a different barman who had just taken over and questioned where my order was. He didn’t seem to understand the till system and after saying maybe I had ordered a takeaway (where was it then?!!), he proceeded to try to charge me for the drinks second time! He didn’t bother going into the kitchen to see what had happened. I pointed out that I had already paid and that the couple sitting near the bar, both with a chilli meal almost finished, had sat down quite a time after me. His comment was: “that’s the CEO”!! How unprofessional that this pub looks after its staff but not its patrons. Very very shoddy and no skills in how to deal with the situation - I would have expected a full refund as an apology. I have never experienced such behaviour in the other Deben Inns. Some serious training needed rather than the CEO sitting around eating with the staff whilst customers go unserved.

Great pastry, fully-filled with chicken etc, no messing around. Add a great pint of Ghostship and you have the perfect lunch for a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon. Service was friendly and quick, and is a pub clearly favoured by locals for a glass of wine and a natter. This place should be far higher the rankings in Woodbridge. That wasn't a planned visit. We just went to Woodbridge for a change and a nice walk along the Debben. After watching some beautiful scenery we had to find some food so we started heading to the town center without really knowing where we were going to go. After another walk we spotted the King's Head, Adnams pub as expected in that area, and decided to check if they were still serving food. That's the beauty of most of the pubs along the coast, even after 2 pm on a Sunday you can get served. They do serve food on Sunday from 12 to 6 pm, which is really great. As we entered the pub I realised that was the kind of pubs which made me love pubs when I moved to England 17 years ago. This one is a typical classic full of character English one. The interior is beautiful with beams everywhere on the ceiling and an open fire place. It is certainly full of atmosphere. We got to the bar, asked if we could have a table for two for some lunch. We were placed not far from the fire place, but far enough not to get too hot. We ordered the Haddock and chips which came with hand cut chips and mushee peas and sausages and buttery mash which came with lovely red cabbages and an amazing very tasty gravy. The haddock was perfectly cooked, white and flaky. The batter was light, not too crispy. The peas were perfectly cooked. All those served on very hot plates, which again, was just as expected. We had a very good lunch indeed and enjoyed time all experience as much as possible. Could that become one of our favourite pubs? Definitely!

Found this lovely pub whilst on a day out in Woodbridge with my boyfriend. We were greeted by friendly, welcoming staff behind the bar and served two great looking pints. For lunch I had the venison pie with mash, which was amazing, and my boyfriend had 'Dave's delicious mac n cheese', which was indeed delicious! A great experience, everything you could want in a traditional, English pub. Will definitely return.

When we arrived the staff were smiling and were very happy to take us to our table, I had one of the homemade pies and it was delicious, the beer was also very good and average price for the area, all in all a very nice pub (and the doggy menu was a very nice touch)

The food was absolutely awful. Tasted like school dinners. We hardly ate anything and has to eat mints in the car to get rid of the awful taste.

On the basis of the recent excellent reviews we booked a table for two on saturday 15th. When we got there they claimed they had no record of our booking, even although it had been made no more than 90 minutes beforehand. They were able to accommodate us a bit later which suited as we were happy to have a drink before our meal. However, once we got our table and had ordered we did not expect to wait an hour for our meal to arrive. We weren't the only people in this situation.Another couple seated next to us had similar experience. When we returned to our hotel we found other guests there who had also waited a very long time. When the food arrived it was good but we were no longer hungry.

Called into the King's Head this week for a meal and couple of beers and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. An Adnams Pub which does a good range of there ales including a Blackshore stout and a very nice pint of Broadside which were both well kept.

Best pub in Woodbridge by far. You can feel the friendly vibe as soon as you walk in and the staff really cannot do enough for you they are so friendly and helpful. We went on a really hot day no seats free at the front of the pub but it didn't matter as with front and rear doors open a lovely breeze blows through. This pub has so much character with its mismatched furniture and lots of room inside it is full of charm. The beer is well kept and the food is really good as well, reasonably priced and really wholesome. Cannot fault this pub one of the best i have been in for some time.

Went in here this afternoon for lunch , had fish and chips my wife had macaroni cheese and my son had chicken . Food was very good , service was quick , drink prices were quite expensive but it is a touristy area so reflects this . All in all would recommend

Popped in last week for a quick lunch. Only a handful of people in the pub so service was nice and quick. We opted for sandwiches with chips on the side with salad enjoyed in the summer sun at rear of the pub. Nice portion sizes, good ingredients including the sausages. If you are in Woodbridge, definitely pop in for a drink and a bite to eat. Oh, and there’s parking at the rear too. Cheers!

Went back to this pub last weekend and enjoyed our food but charged £8.1o for a large glass of Sauvignon wine.By far the most expensive glass of wine in Woodbridge. No need for it Getting greedy for sure these pubs Are you serving your best wines without asking your customers if they want house wine or just serving the most expensive wines hoping people do not notice and just pay the bill and walk away.Hope to visit again as we are local but need to review your pricing

Nothing too much trouble for her. Clear and sympathetic communication with us about a complicated family dinner involving children with severe food allergies. Flexible, thoughtful and efficient. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you!

We stopped here for a few drinks whilst we stayed in town and it has a simple but nice vibe to it. Lots of Adnams beers on tap and lots of history all over the walls. A great large fire burning to keep you warm and people bringing their dogs in to enjoy the relaxed vibe too :) I liked this place a lot so would recommend.

A proper pub, good friendly service , well kept beers with an ever changing guest ale, no food just good conversation in a pleasant environment. If you long for a traditional well run pub serving good ale the Old Mariners is for you.

Very disappointed with the sandwiches, bread was very dry and the smoked salmon bagel was frozen! BLT contains cold bacon rashers. All in all - an expensive, disappointing lunch. Will not frequent the cafe again .

We were a table of 9 plus 2 dogs looking for brunch on bank holiday Monday. We phoned a few days previous to book a table to be told they couldn’t accommodate us in the dog area indoors but we could just turn up and get a table outside (which couldn’t be reserved either). We travelled 30 miles to come here, paid the parking fee and easily found 2 tables together outside. It was just before 11am as we were told on the phone previously that breakfast was served until 11.30am. The waitress gave us the breakfast menus and asked us to order at the bar. We made our choices quickly but when we tried to order at the bar at 11am another waitress told us that she couldn’t take our order as the kitchen was overrun because it was a bank holiday! This was despite not 1 single table inside the pub being occupied and us easily finding a table outside. We explained that what we were told but she refused to take the order. This was very disappointing considering our previous phone call and having 2 cars travelled a round trip of 60 miles. We were told to order from the main menu but we couldn’t order for another hour as it didn’t start until 12 noon. The waitress was very dismissive and not apologetic. Very poor customer service as far as I’m concerned. We won’t be going back.

Really recommend this place. Last minute dinner booking, with no issues for a table of six. Lovely place and a good menu. The food was really nice and came promptly. What made this place though was the service from the two ladies who waited on our table. They were extremely kind and friendly and I'd go as far as saying they probably provided the best service I've ever experienced anywhere.

Just popped in for a lunchtime meal , Limited menu had beef lasagne with a side salad and garlic bread. £10.50. The lasagne had been reheated it was dry and very crisp and hard in places and not hot , basically I left most of it and told them it wasn't very nice at all. Just before I left a member of staff approached me and gave me £5 back and said she was sorry it wasn't good. So if it's not good don't serve it to customers.... Not Happy!.
