We popped in for Sunday Lunch after calling ahead and checking the pub is dog friendly (which it is) Partner was really happy to see Lamb on the roast menu and I went for Beef. Good pub lunch, full of flavour and reasonably priced. The extra gravy boat and side of cauliflower cheese was much appreciated. The waiting girls/bar staff were ever so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Very personable service without feeling like they were fussing too much. 10/10 for the service alone. The bowl of water and plate of doggie treats was such a lovely touch. Thanks for a great lunch to all the staff. We will definitely return. You should advertise yourselves more as kicking ourselves for never thinking/hearing about this place before!

Average local pub, not much vibe. Had a revamp but not really improved. Prices are good in fairness. If your looking for a fun, cosy pub with a nice vibe it’s not the one.

We went to this pub last year and found the menu to be varied and the food good. So we returned this year too! Menu is still varied with sandwich, baguette and light bite options as well as usual pub fayre and a great selection of pies! The waitress was lovely and really looked after us. Quite a long wait for the food to say it was quiet but not bad enough for it to be a problem! Great kids meal of Mac and cheese - this should be an adult main option as it was delicious! Food was good, portions were generous and the sticky toffee pudding portion was fantastic! The restaurant is slightly dark and a little tired but it was comfortable and I didn't feel on edge with my 3.5 year old. There was also good colouring and crayon facilities for the little ones. All in all it was reasonable, the food was good and the service is the best I've had in a while. We left with full bellies and would definitely return!

I called in after work for a drink which I do once or twice a week. There was a good selection of four real ales to choose from. Nothing unusual here as there are usually four or five available, switching regularly between light golden ales and darker ales. There is a good range of other drinks too and all reasonably priced. I did not eat on this visit but there is regularly a plate of food on my table which is always devoured with relish and enjoyed thoroughly. There is a dedicated dining area or you can also eat in the lounge area. Friendly staff, good food and drink, well priced so no surprise I will be back again soon.

We visited the Norman Warrior on a Sunday lunchtime. I had the roast beef which was incredible. I like beef to be medium rare and they got this spot on. The Yorkshire pudding was crisp and a real treat. The roast potatoes were cooked in goose fat, I think, I had a couple of beers with my meal which were very competitively priced. The staff were charming and the atmosphere perfect for a leisurely Sunday. Our waitress was Gail. What a star she is. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome. She then kept coming back to us, just to make sure everything was right.

Visited the pub with the family for a Sunday roast after recommendations from friends. It was our first visit and definitely won't be our last. The staff were very friendly and exceptionally helpful towards one of the party who had a food allergy. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere even though it was busy. We mainly all had roasts with one having a Pieminister pie and my word it was all very delicious. Perfect portions and very reasonably priced. We noticed customers with dogs were made to feel very welcome in the lounge bar so we'll be bringing ours next time. Lovely little pub, glad we listened to our friends.

Please avoid this pub, went for a family meal, the food was ok apart from charging me double for the pudding, so decided to stay for a few drinks and a few games of pool, the pub shuts at midnight so tried getting a drink at 11:15 no-one was there to serve the drinks, but finally someone turned up and said that they stopped serving at 11, "last orders went out in the 80s" the owner was a right cock about it, I will never put another pound in his till again,

I booked a table for 4 for Thursday. The Messenger confirmation gave me 7.30 to 8pm. I confirmed we would arrive at 7.45pm. On arriving we were confronted with an obviously long-closed restaurant. The "patron"? Obviously knew people were going to arrive and offered us a very fluffy explanation that there had been a problem in the kitchen. No real apology, no recompense drink, Nothing! Take it or leave it! I did wish him well and hoped when things were sorted, we'd see him again. He told me he'd sent a Message to me, which I hadn't checked. I'd confirmed we'd be there at 7.45pm. The reply was... "The kitchen will be closed by then". What??????Well, we all decamped to the Blue Boar in Oulton and had a lovely meal. Since then the Norman Warrior has cast aspersions on my telling you what they are all about. They are telling me that my review won't mean anything. Well, it's up to you to judge!

Me and another family visited the pub yesterday so was 4 adults and 4 kids. There was a few people playing pool near us and one man in particular was rude and confrontational. It got to a point where he threatened a 16 year old girl who was in his way apparently to shove his f ing cue up their arse 🤷‍♂️. This so called customer had very young grandchildren in situ around 5-8 years old. Been going to this pub for the last 16 years as my local but the landlord just came over never apologised for us being threatened. Yet decided to inflame the already tense situation by pointing out there was an unopened packet of nuts on the table that hadn't been purchased from his premises. We later realised that the foul mouthed bloke who threatened us was a relative of the land lord so obviously can say and treat customers how he feels. Will not be setting foot inside that place again. And suggests the land lord goes on a diplomacy course in how to treat customers. Especially ones that have been threatened in his own premises 👍

I took my Mum out for a pub meal to celebrate her 87th Birthday and we had a very enjoyable meal. We could choose from the normal menu or the festive one...but there were only starters on the festive menu, none on the normal menu, which was a little odd. Mum thought the 'prawns and Marie Rose sauce' on the normal menu was a prawn cocktail, but it was just one of the baguette filings available as a light-bite. However Mum loves her prawn cocktails, and despite it not being on the menu, as they had all the ingredients they made one up just for Mum - and it was gorgeous. Mum said it was the best prawn cocktail she had ever had, which speaks volumes as it's her favourite starter. The only down side was that the prawn cocktail was so big it filled her up, so she struggled to eat her main course (which was also huge - scampi and chips with a large pile of chips, 15 pieces of scampi and a salad bowl). My wife and I ordered from the festive menu although I avoided the obvious festive options, instead going for garlic mushrooms on toast as a starter, steak chasseur as a main course, and profiteroles for desserts. All the food was delicious, the beef was so tender, and the profiteroles were good. Service was friendly and the staff went the extra mile to make sure Mum had the meal she wanted. The prices were also reasonable, with real ale at £3.50 a pint and the festive menu was £13.99 for two courses and £17.99 for three courses. The portions were large and the food served hot. Just puzzled why they don't have starters on the normal menu...but otherwise a very enjoyable meal and good value.

I had a apology and wasn't charged for them but it shows me how little pride and respect the chef has for sending it out in the first place. I visited the Norman Warrior with family for my Mum's birthday. The restaurant was busy (it was a Saturday night so booking ahead was essential) but we were welcomed by friendly staff who were very accommodating and took special care in moving the tables back to give extra room for my nephew's hearing dog. Service throughout was reasonably paced, acknowledging they were busy, but always very friendly and cheerful. The food we had was tasty, hot and plentiful and decent value - they had a lovely selection of hot pots and pies as well as various meals on their festive menu, which they were happy to mix and match with the standard menu options. They had some nice real ales on tap, but as I was driving I didn't get the chance to sample them.Overall the experience was very nice, enhanced by the positive attitude of all the staff that served our group, and I would happily return.

We walked to this pub from South Beach via Ness Point but it was well worth the effort. We found it in the Good Beer Guide which is not surprising as the beer was excellent. All the staff were very friendly and our dog was welcomed with water and biscuits. We both had cod and chips which was great and good value. We discovered that the pub was on a regular bus route so we whimped out and caught one back to town. Will certainty visit again.

Joined 30 or so former work colleagues for lunch. There was a good choice of reasonably priced food on the menu and specials board and for real ale drinkers a decent choice of beers

First class real ales on tap... excellent as always. Have visited this pub several times when seeing family in lowestoft and have always received a friendly and warm welcome. Whilst the pub was very quiet during our mid afternoon visit I'm reliably informed this is a popular venue. Always a selection of six real ales available

Another visit to The Norman Warrior, lovely welcome, hot meals which were all eaten and enjoyed. Various beer to try and enjoyable soft drinks. Puddings on the special board, made it hard to decide which to choose! All in all..... Fantastic, keep up the good work.

visited this pub on a tuesday after a family bike ride. at first we went to the restaraunt but the place was so outdated and foisty we decided to sit in the garden, tripping over the rucked up carpet on the way out...the garden was very nice, things for kids to do and very spacious.we ordered 4 meals, 2 of which were childrens. the food arrived quick, was hot and simple pub grub, would like to see a few more healthy options for kids.when ordering at the bar, the staff were quite slow and not all that cheerful. a man who i think was the manager was drinking at he bar and did not seem welcoming at all. i presume he was the manager as staff asked him a few questions but i would not have guessed his positionfrom his manner.food was averagely priced but drinks were quite pricey compared to other, much nicer establishments.overall, good quick pub grub but seriously out of date appearance and rude front of house staff.

Decided to go here on the spare of the moment for my daughters birthday. Had heard the food was good. Was put off at first by the appearance on entering the restaurant as looked a little shabby. However, I could not fault the service or the food, we had a lovely meal would definitely return again.

Just popped in to see what the food was like and was very impressed . The chicken hot pot had all gone but the cheff actually quickly prepared another one for my wife and it was absolutely lovely! I had ham , eggs and chips . which may sound simple to do but the eggs were perfect ! I wanted the yoke to be runny but not un cooked so when our dinners arrived the first thing I did was to check my yolks and they were spot on . It was just a mid week lunch but I will make a point of definitely going back on a regular basis.

On holiday in the area with our three hounds, luckily chose the The Norman Warrior as a stop for lunch. We couldn't be happier, so hound friendly (dish of biscuits) and our food was great. One of us is a vegetarian and was very well catered for. The staff are very friendly and caring.

We were staying nearby in Oulton Broad and noticed this pub on the Internet We went for an evening meal, and thoroughly enjoyed.I had the lemon sole and my husband the gammon. The portions are not for the small appetite. The food was really very good. We enjoyed it all. The service was quick and the waitresses and pub owner very friendly. A really good pub meal.

Ok a 2 hour wait is totally unacceptable! On ordering I was told that delivery would be an hour, so ok great know, they’re busy, but happy they had told me this. After hour and half called and told , oh yeah your order is here on table, will be there in 5 minutes……….after the initial call, 2 hours later our order arrived, I think a free dessert would have been a great gesture. Our food was delicious though, roast dinner and a burger were tasty but this 2 hour wait needs addressing!

Had to wait 3/4 of hour for a breakfast. No mugs available. Staff clearing trays away handing dirty crockery and table numbers then going to food counter to touch people's plates without cleaning hands first.food left on serving counter for ages before being brought out, people then sending it back because it was then cold as ours was,not as good as it used to be

This could be a gem of a pub. Fantastic location & looks great from the outside. The beer was ok but not great. The red wine was awful. The toilets are so tired & by the looks of the dust in the corners of the cubicles, haven’t been properly cleaned for a while. Overall disappointing & there are much nicer pubs nearby.

6 of us dropped in for a drink after the cinema at 22.05 today . Totally deserted except for one customer at the bar. Waited over 5 minutes before the customer offered to find the bar staff. Empty glasses on bar and tables so obviously work to do but no staff. Young lady eventually appeared and promptly said we've finished serving. No apology. I am amazed bars can afford to turn away 6 customers let alone without an apology. Also strange on 2nd July to read Christmas menus displayed around the walls. No idea if these are very early for this year or left up from last year? I've worked in hospitality much of my life and the golden rule is 'never turn away a paying customer' Unfortunately a no stars review wasn't an option. Very disappointing.

Lovely food, lovely wine, charming friendly service, especially when our waitress said "really enjoyed serving you' Right, now a slight whinge - NOT aimed at the Crown alone but at ALL restaurants that add service to the bill, even discretionary. Why are they adding service on the VAT???? Happy to pay service on the net of VAT amount but NOT service on the Tax as well.
