Not too badly priced and fair presentation. Food is tasty but on this occasion, the portion size was very poor. One of us had a jacket potato which was laughably small. I've seen bigger grapes! Disguised under the cheese and little side salad, it was so over baked so some parts were inedible. However, the sausage roll my friend had was very good.

Whilst having a day out in Southwold we decided to stop for a hot drink at the farmhouse Bakery because of its display of traditional baked cakes in the window. So we came here and sausage rolls were £1.70 I know why now We bought 4 and literally spat it out it was so disgusting and threw them all in the bin No doubt the worst sausage roll I have ever tasted The pastry was undercooked there was no pork in the filling which tasted disgusting I do wish we had bought the ins from across the road Bugger the price I threw away £6.80

Pitstop last Sunday for coffee and cake. Very lacklustre staff and tables not being wiped. Bit of a concern in these Covid times. The blonde girl who served us was pleasant but lacked alot. The other girl (darkhaired) was obviously leaving or having a break as she stood out the back with a roll-up in her mouth (unlit). Not a good look. The cakes were passable but the coffee diabolical which we didn't finish. When water is continually boiled and reboiled it created a horrible metalic taste. Couple that with poor quality coffee, it was memorable. We used this bakery as they had spare tables, we usually have coffee elsewhere. Lesson learned... we will not return nor recommend. Great shame when business and reviews in these difficult times can make or break. I cannot remember the last time i felt strongly enough about something to leave a bad review.

I popped in to this shop today to ask if they sold individual portions of clotted cream, as I noticed that they sold cream, jam and scones as a package - all I wanted was the cream (we already had scones at home). I was sold a 40g (small) pack of Roddas Clotted Cream for £1.10.Seeing the size of the pack my partner suggested that we needed a second one. I was reluctant to pay what I thought was an exorbitant price, but further along the street is The Cornish Bakery. Here I was sold a similar sized pack for 55p - half the price of the Farmhouse Bakery. A check online indicates that catering packs of the 40g size cost around 33p per unit. I find that the price charged by the Farmhouse bakery is blatant profiteering. Readers beware.

If you are looking for a snack and maybe a cuppa, then you would be spoiled for choice in Southwold high street, but the farmhouse bakery is a little gem hiding in plain sight. A tiny shop with a handful of tables it has a great selection of snacks, pastries and cakes. All of it at very reasonable prices, (especially compared to a cafe on the pier charging £2.60 for a bottle of fanta!) The prawn cocktail wraps were just £4 and they were massive. Eccles cake...YUK !! Not sure what the filling was but it did NOT contain currants, very dry. Strange smell inside the shop not dissimilar to stale cigarette smoke. Despite it being a quiet Tuesday morning we had to wait 20 minutes to get three clumsily assembled sandwiches. One (bacon) tasted like cardboard as it was so dry, another (egg mayo) tasted of nothing at all, a thirst was just about OK, all on cheap sliced bread. At over £9, very poor value, a factory made sandwich from Tesco or the Coop, both nearby, would be tastier and cheaper. The only redeeming feature was the server seemed new so may improve but lots of infinitely better alternatives available.

Came in here today as we saw some nice cakes in the window and wanted something sweet to eat while we walked along the beach. My boyfriend chose an Eccles cake which was a good size and seemed good value for money and I had an almond macaroon. My boyfriends Eccles cake was filled with some sort of chewed up paste which looked nothing like what you’d expect in an Eccles cake. Couldn’t even discern what it was supposed to be by taste - all we could taste was cinnamon. My macaroon was fairly tasteless and really dry. I’ve had better from other local bakeries back home. We were both really disappointed with our experience here today and unfortunately won’t be returning.

The bakery probably sells decent bread but the cafe was a real disappointment sadly. Cheap teabag tea served in a mug, toasted sandwich that was small and had an overall unpleasant flavour and texture along with a tiny salad, consisting of literally one slice of tomato, half a slice of cucumber and 2 inches of a lettuce leaf, so not even a reasonable garnish! Lovely staff but well below average food sorry :(

Went in here at the weekend to get bread rolls, the lady who served us was extremely rude and abrupt, not necessary by any means to be like this, she was obviously not local due to her accent, & equally not happy in her job, the rolls have always been good quality and affordable but unfortunately they have now joined the other high priced shops in town, we paid a vast amount more this visit than we did at Easter and I must say the quality had gone downhill no end, the place was dirty, the hygiene from the workers was atrocious, I would think the environmental health department would have a field day in here. There are much better bakeries in town and with the prices not much to compare we will vote with our feet and use the other bake houses, we have always supported the local shops but after this visit we will no longer be supporting this one, some customer care skills are needed and soon.

Started with pork & game terrain & king prawns bruschetta both were very well presented and enjoyable, we followed this with lambs liver, garlic mash, carrots & I had to have some hand cut chips, BBQ brisket of beef gyro, and even managed a to devour a poached pear dessert, coffee mouse c/w hazelnut brittle. Everything was just right, a very tasty from both of us.l

We visited The Crown for a midweek lunch. We had our dog with us so didn’t want the formal dining room. The tables at the front were busy so we found a cosy snug at the back which was almost empty. We had a catch of the day fish and chips, complete with excellent crunchy chips and a smoked fish platter, also very nice. As expected, the full range of Adnams beers were available and in excellent condition. However, what we must really commend The Crown on was the attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. For example, I asked the barman if there was any water bowls for dogs outside? No need to go outside he replied and dropped what he was doing and brought one to our table. We will definitely return when we ext visit Southwold.

6 of us dropped in for a drink after the cinema at 22.05 today . Totally deserted except for one customer at the bar. Waited over 5 minutes before the customer offered to find the bar staff. Empty glasses on bar and tables so obviously work to do but no staff. Young lady eventually appeared and promptly said we've finished serving. No apology. I am amazed bars can afford to turn away 6 customers let alone without an apology. Also strange on 2nd July to read Christmas menus displayed around the walls. No idea if these are very early for this year or left up from last year? I've worked in hospitality much of my life and the golden rule is 'never turn away a paying customer' Unfortunately a no stars review wasn't an option. Very disappointing.

Had to wait 3/4 of hour for a breakfast. No mugs available. Staff clearing trays away handing dirty crockery and table numbers then going to food counter to touch people's plates without cleaning hands first.food left on serving counter for ages before being brought out, people then sending it back because it was then cold as ours was,not as good as it used to be
