I ordered a soup and a latte. The coffee turned up within 10 minutes and was told the soup was coming soon. I waited another 30 minutes and walked out without claiming a refund. It is utterly ridiculous to be kept waiting 40 minutes for a bowl of soup. I will never visit this establishment ever again.

Very disappointed, we had previously visited over a month ago and had a bad experience but decided to give it another chance. First we had to walk round the tables trying to find a menu, limited food selection on offer, but we ordered a sandwich, cake, jacket potato two teas and a hot chocolate. Hot chocolate and cake arrived unfortunately the hot chocolate was lukewarm and watery ,teas then arrived which were ok. Quite a wait for the sandwich which unfortunately was incorrect and had to be returned this was eventually replaced. 30 minutes after ordering I was still waiting for my jacket potato my tea was now cold and my friends had both finished. I asked what the delay was as it was hardly busy. The manager did get involved as i asked for refund but no explanation for the delay was given. Needless to say we will be looking for another venue.

We called in for a tea and coffee and had to take a seat to wait , why cant it be made there and then , the wait was almost 20 mins and yes we was told about the wait but for two drinks this is silly by the time the drinks arrived we was ready to leave . This system does not work they need people serving drinks at the counter .

The afternoon tea is priced well at £17.50 bur the egg sandwiches do not have mayo and the cranberry and Brie was a little tasteless, The scones and little cake treats are presented well and staff were very friendly and accommodating. If you don’t want to lay a fortune for cakes, sandwiches, scones and tea then I would definitely recommend. I would return yes

I’m not sure what is happening at The Dutch. It was a wonderful experience to go for lunch, lovely sandwiches, soup with warm rolls, outstanding cakes all at reasonable prices. Now the sandwiches are prepared in advance, very little filling and no changes can be made to your order. This is a joke especially when they charge the earth. Soup is served with bread and butter - seriously make an effort. The cakes taste nice but they aren’t fresh, especially when you can tell they have been in the fridge. I bought a sausage roll from the deli and it wasn’t cooked properly. The cost of going out has increased across the board however we DON’T need to be ripped off with poor quality, pre-made products that aren’t worth the money. People of a certain age will accept poor quality, pre-made products which can’t be changed - ALL OVERPRICED.

My husband & I took a friend for Christmas Dinner today and it was excellent. We were looked after by a lovely lady. The dinner itself was larger than I was expecting and was so tasty. Ripp off menu prices. Won't go again! Why? 1. Toasted cheese and onion sandwich on white bread, cost £8:00 (£7:95) ?? 2. Had to search for the onions in it! 3. The salad bulked up with rabbit food, the lettuce (60-70%) 4. Salad very soggy and lifeless. 5. Coleslaw salad drowned in mayonnaise ! In summary: Ripp off prices Poor value for money Poor quality Probably prepared by apprentices No quality control on the food leaving the kitchen Etc. A recommendation: Dutch Nursery cafe director to visit the cafe at the SUNSHINE GARDEN CENTRE, near Muswell Hill, and to learn how to run and offer better quality and value for money food service. At Sunshine Gardens all toasted sandwiches: Have three different filling choices On brown bread Costs only £5:00 Mature- experienced staff employed

Go to the Dutch nursery most weeks on this occasion turned up at 11.20 waited in the queue for 9 mins ordered my jacket potato and was told lunch menu is at 11.30. I replied that’s only 2 mins away he went out to the kitchen and told me I still couldn’t order before 11.30 which just astounded me . So I decided to seek out a manager who apologised and then carried on sweeping up. What a let done £22.00 a week over at least 40 weeks a year glad you can afford to loose custom like that 😡

Lovely restaurant with fabulous coffee and cake.It was raining heavily today and because we had my dog with us we sat outside. Two lovely members of staff helped us dry the table and chairs and set up an extra umbrella. The weather continued to be terrible and we were still getting wet.The same kind lady spoke to her manager and we were allowed to sit inside.I felt the staff really went the extra mile to help us despite the fact that the usual rules are that dogs do not come inside the cafe.We very much appreciated their kindness. We will definitely be back! Went to Dutch Nursery today to buy bedding plants and popped into the café for a late lunch. Ordered jacket potato with cheese and beans which came with a huge fresh mixed salad. It really was tasty and very filling although we couldn’t leave the café without having one of their home-made cakes. Had a Bakewell slice which really was ‘to die for’ - the best we’ve ever tasted - and having family in Derbyshire believe me we’ve tried many! It was so good we bought more to take home! It’s a lovely spacious garden centre and café with such helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Nothings too much trouble. The farm shop is an added bonus - everything under one roof! Must admit we always leave feeling relaxed after an afternoon there.

I have visited – today with a friend for brunch, so very disappointed. We went to the counter and asked for menu was told by the girl at the counter. They haven’t been put out yet but you can have cooked breakfast avocados bacon teacakes that sort of thing Okay so we ordered avocado on toast with poached egg. When it arrived I had chilli flakes sprinkled on the top I hate chilli so I had send mine back and ordered another one without chilli flakes. I tasted the avocado it was absolutely disgusting I don’t know what they did to it to make it taste so awful. It was an edible so unfortunately had to turn that too. I spoke to the manager who informed me that the avocado was frozen. I asked her if she had tasted it. Her reply was no because I don’t like avocado I suggested to her that she found somebody who did like avocado and ask them to try it, it was horrendous it didn’t even taste like food. I was so cross and just walked, out on another note. I was informed that if I checked the menu correctly I would’ve seen that the first dish had chilli flakes sprinkled on the top and then went on to tell the manager that I had tried twice to get a menu, but was informed they hadn’t been put out ??!? so I wasn’t able to read them. totally unbelievable such an awful experience. I will definitely not go there again. The ironic thing is that ten meters away it was possible to buy great avocados in the company’s food store!!! Also they should teach the cook how to poach an egg!!! Don’t get me started on the poached egg 😫

Restaurant I had lunch with my husband in May. We ordered different ingredients on the panini, side sale and skinny fries (£8 - £9 NOT cheap) The panini were good, however not grilled very well as half the ingredients was not in the actual bread. The fries were great. Unfortunately the amount of fries on both plates were very different. The kitchen staff said this is normal and we should be thankful as previously they only served crisps. I’m a regular customer at the Dutch however i will not be having lunch in the restaurant.

I nipped here for breakfast with a friend. My food came with an eyelash and other debris on the top. I was not offered a replacement by the wait staff, nor was the manager promoted to drop by l, as I finished my hot drink, to apologise or make any amends, despite knowing I was unhappy. My food was refunded (when I asked for this to happen) but the level of customer service generally, and particularly from the person running the café at the time, was appalling. I will return for a cuppa as I’m local and it’s a handy spot to meet friends, but I will never order food again. So disappointing.

Have often visited here for a coffee break but today decided to try lunch. It was absolutely packed (which is obviously good for business but not for the customers). One poor lady seemed to be the only one running around and serving people - she was great as she kept her cool and was very helpful. I ordered the Macaroni Cheese which was 9.50 and pretty tasteless - can only think they use very mild cheese. It was accompanied by a bit of garlic bread and a tiny salad. My sister had the spinach and cauliflower soup which was virtually stone cold. She took it back to reheat and had to chase it up about 10 minutes later as nothing had been done to it. I then made the mistake of ordering a sweet - lemon and sultana sponge which took at least 30 minutes with a chase to be served. The custard was stone cold but by this time we couldn't be bothered to go back to the counter anymore so just ate what we could and left. Sadly we won't be back to eat here.

Was also hacking the cauliflower to death...poor training! Another one wasn’t even trying to hide his phone, I had to stand there till he had realized I was waiting at the till for him to serve me. Such a nice little break from supermarkets (all be it very overpriced) and ruined because of poor hiring.

Visited the cafe with my mum for Sunday lunch. We chose the ‘roast of the day’ which was either pork or chicken. We both chose the chicken. When it arrived there was only a tiny splash of gravy and no option given for more. The meal was tiny and although others had come out of the kitchen with a Yorkshire pudding, neither my mums or my meal had one.My mum had to go back to the cashier to ask for more gravy, which we did get.The chicken was pink, the cabbage was tough, no condiments were offered, there wasn’t any stuffing and the meal was small for £10.95.For dessert mum and I shared a salted caramel brownie. This was disgusting!! We basically had a mouthful of salt which overpowered everything. Incredibly disappointed and very unimpressed. The total was 27.95. Total rip off.We will not be visiting again.

There was a great opportunity to make it a touch above the cafes at the chain garden nursery ., but the menu seems to of gone downhill along with the veggie choices . The salads are iceburg lettuce a couple of bits of tomatoe and cucumber . No lovely Italian leaves etc . The fish cakes were pretty disgusting ,thin ,overcooked and salty and clearly out of the freezer . If you want a jacket potato ,sandwhich or cake then that's fine but it's such a shame that they had the opportunity to have a nice restaurant . If only they could get a decent Chef .

They all looked very nice and good sized portions. When our sandwiches came they looked and tasted very nice. The bread was very tasty and they were not mean with the filing. I really like this place. The food in the restaurant is nice but you do normally have to wait. Not overly organised but I know that so wouldn’t dine there if in a rush. The food hall I adored when it first opened, the veg section still good and reasonable. However, my last few purchases at the butchers have been so disappointing. The butcher himself is very accommodating (not the owner, not a negative comment just have dealt with the butcher on more occasions). You need to keep an eye on the sell by date. So, the last few times I’ve bought steaks, don’t know if they hadn’t been hung long enough or been hanging around but we’re so tough. This is constructive criticism as your steaks used to be very good and reasonable, now seems more expensive and less quality. Btw, not my cooking regarding the toughness, am a trained cook. Please bring back the quality.

Decided to try out the Cafe at The Dutch Nursery after recent works. On previous visits, we had to wait ages for our food order. We hoped with the changes, that the service would have improved. Unfortunately, this is not the case. After waiting nearly 30 minutes for a bowl of soup and a panini, I decided to find out what the problem was. I was told it was on its way and we received the food. When I went to get a spoon, I was confronted by the male waiter, with my order receipt, who told me it was only 20 minutes, not half an an hour. As I pointed out to him that the order was taken at 39 minutes past the hour and it was now 10 past the next, that made half an hour. I was very surprised that the staff member confronted me, rather than apologise for the delay. The food was very nice, but the delay and behaviour of the staff member was unacceptable

Lovey café/restaurant clean and modern, great selection of food at very reasonable prices and next to a new food hall. More than just a garden centre

Fairly standard eatery attached to a garden centre. Wide selection of cakes, drinks and snacks. Staff member was polite and toasted croque monsieur came quickly enough. Scones slightly hard and probably not fresh on the day. Would visit again if ever have the need.

Had heard about this garden centre on what was an appalling wet day. There was lots to browse from food, books, pet supplies and clothes to name a few. We stopped in cafe Dutch for lunch. We both had a cold sandwich as we had a young baby to feed too. It was brought up with crisps and a side salad. It was all delicious, coffee was lovely. Good value. Staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. Nice little fruit and veg stall on the way out too. Two little moans - car park, too small, too few disabled bays and uneven. Also highchair was very dirty! We had to clean it before we used it and of course after use. All in all though a lovely place to browse, shop and eat.

I love the nursery here and the staff are so helpful. Parking is plentiful and it's quite near to my home. However, the food is quite nice but it has more of a canteen atmosphere and often looks like an average nursing home at lunchtime. Not very pleasant

Simple food, very busy on the Saturday when we went, had to wait in in a queue for a while. Lots of seating area inside and out. There is also a farm type shop, and good variety of gifts. Average prices, possibly expensive if compared with Dorset Prices. The roads are terrible around Hatfield, full of pot holes and I found the car driving a bit aggressive in this part of the country. So going to this cafe was a good place to chill out and the food was quite good.

Lots of parking. The nursery restaurant is bright, service is friendly. Food is o.k. Though I had one dish that was not a success, I mentioned this. Usually jacket potatoes etc. Quite nice. Coffees and teas good. As it attached to the nursery, it is nice to walk amongst the plants to buy, also there is an extensive gift section and some clothing for sale. Just a pleasant place to meet friends for a chat.

Visited as a family of 6 on a Sunday lunchtime. 5 out of the 6 meals were very good and value for money, unfortunately the 6th was very poor but when we asked to speak to the manager the customer service was excellent, a meal refund and offers of drinks. Have been regular customers for some time and found the food atmosphere and service to be good.

Really airy cafe and lovely staff members with a great selection of pastries, cakes and snacks with your tea or coffee. However, I find the prices a little on the high side. Would probably visit more often if it was a little more reasonable.

My mum went on an organised trip for Christmas lunch from the warden controlled home she lives in, so it was all pensioners.she said that the lunch was £29 and that she dud not enjoy it what so ever! Reporting that the meal was cold, the Yorkshires were under cooked, the turkey dry and when thus was mentioned to the staff the reply she got was "oh" all in all a very bad show!!

This is another nice garden centre with friendly staff and a nice café where you can get a decent cup of coffee. They also serve a nice selection of cakes. For those with bigger appetites they serve good main meals too.You have a choice of sitting in the café with lots of artists pictures on the walls which are nice to look at and available to purchase. Or you can sit outside on a nice day and admire the plants and just relax and chill.

We always enjoy going to cafe Dutch as the staff are so friendly and helpful, but recently the food seems not to be so good as they seem to have got cheaper suppliers and so the food isn't as good but still quite expensive.

The drive was nice with view of the country roads. On arrival rooms are very basic not much to view apart from the Pods and fields. Unfortunately, there are no facilities at the hotel e.g. spa, gym, etc just a bar with small sitting area that closes at 12am. As your in the middle of no where you literally spend time in the room & go dinner then back to room😮💨 The hotel doesn't offer any other food e.g. Breakfast apart from the dinner which you pay for in the stay which is also overpriced. Personally, Food & drinks overated it needs to be reviewed as you can get a better variety of quality food in other places especially local vendors on your high street. The building itself is historically beautiful for private hire as you can utilize the grounds but waste of money for travel, dine & stay. You can better value & quality in Holiday Inn! Recommend to visit Pods in London instead more to do for a day & night trip.

Sunday carvery very disappointing. Beef was raw and pork/turkey was sliced wafer thin. Not good value for money. The veg was fine. Staff were lovely and nice warm atmosphere. Just need to sort out the meat. I should have taken pics.
