Popped in for a bite to eat and a few drinks this evening and had a lovely time. Edward took amazing care of us, and the food was delicious!

Took the piss had me waiting an hour for my starter finally got it then half an hour for main course then over an hour for pudding ended up just getting a refund

Disappointing. Ran out of bacon for the burgers and the Eaton mess was just cream swirled on a plate, not even in a sundae glass, with 1 small piece of meringue and chocolate buttons at the bottom. Felt like they had made it up and was not worth the £8

Went for a little birthday treat with a friend , I couldn’t recommend more . The service was great with friendly faces and the food was even better . I will definitely will be going back

So much better with new management and team,back to good food and service . Just a note the salt/pepper dispensers are really difficult to use. Sooo m7ch salt comes out when you try to shake it to pepper !!!

Went for lunch. the service was great from Megan and Joe. The food was great, and I mentioned this to Megan and asked for the Chef's name. The food was cooked by Rob and Joe. The pub is warm and welcoming, very quirky with lots of nooks and crannies, and a proper fire. Ample parking. Would encourage you to give it a try.

Came for a birthday Sunday lunch - we were delighted with food and speed of service. Lovely atmosphere and will be returning!

Popped in for a drink with family, decided to have one of the stone based pizzas to take away when we were all done catching up and it was delicious when I got home! Staff were all very lovely and friendly as always!

The lovely Sian left her meal to serve behind the bar bless her, her food went cold .We had bar snacks which were delicious. Thanks Sian wonderful customer service give this lovely lady a wage rise or bonus xxx

Did not receive our starters. Drinks did not arrive until after we had started our mains. The items in the plate were not as described in the menu. For example, honey glazed carrots, they were not. The roast potatoes were barely warm. Yorkshire pudding was so overcooked or stale it was very difficult to cut through the crust, I had to saw it! Pie of the day looked anaemic and undercooked. They did offer us complimentary desserts (without us asking) as a good will gesture for forgetting our starters which we appreciated but otherwise it was not a good experience and we won’t be returning.

Waited an hour for table and food in total ..food awful tasteless and supermarket standard .. drinks expensive for what they were ..

Unfortunately this place has gone downhill!! Chicken curry served with cheap warmed up packet chicken, absolute joke. Temperature of the place was really cold, kept my jacket on. Waitress placed a noisy group next to us even though there was a whole floor of tables. A real shame, won’t be going back.

Visited today (Sunday) with family for lunch. The restaurant was clearly very busy and I feel a little short staffed. However the food was lovely and the service was good. We raised a small issue with a lovely young man who we believe was called Callum, who explained it was his first day here but dealt with the matter swiftly. Well done

The bartender who served us was very polite and welcoming, not sure on her name but we were in around 5.45 - 7.15 and she was very friendly. The food itself was amazing also and the pub was very warming and a lovely place to sit and refuel before our journey back to Yorkshire. We also got a 50% off all main meals as they have a deal on during January where you get 50% if you get the app!! Amazing

Food was colder than expected when it did arrive. We had arrived ahead of the supposed lunchtime rush and by the time we had ordered and received our food the kitchen must have been busy. The meals were tasty but not as good as we had expected. We didn't raise this with staff as they seemed both short handed and busy.

Staff are helpful, polite and chatty. We all had different dishes and they were lovely. It's a super cosy little place to eat on a Sunday. They even lit a fire. I Brought my cousin from Australia for lunch. He remembered it from last year when he visited it was so good!

The worst choice I could have made to go out for Christmas Day dinner, charging over £70 per person. Chaotic and clueless staff, I have seen more organisation delivered by a set of clowns at a circus. Wrong food delivered despite pre-ordering (work that one out !!) vegetables delivered after we had finished our food. Absolute disgrace of a place

Saturday 28/12/24 - Food was nice, but not venue very warm - there were two log fires in the bar area but nothing in restaurant

The crooked chimney holds a warm and welcoming atmosphere and all the staff are friendly and helpful. However.. we were very disappointed with the food. We all ordered a roast and every meal was cold. The gravy, veg, meat and pretty much everything was stone cold. This was a disappointing experience as well as the price that comes with it. Food needs to always be hot.

Had Christmas dinner at Crooked Chimney, cost £80 per person , food was very poor with extremely slow service. Christmas diner supposed to come with veg, but was forgotten. Complained to staff but took ages for them to bring veg, we had eaten our dinner by time it arrived. I had beef wellington which was dry and served with no gravy. Won’t be going back there anytime soon.

Christmas lunch: menu, food, drinks, staff and service were all excellent

We just had a Christmas lunch at the Crooked Chimney . The service was good and friendly , however , a tiny bowl with 4 small scallops covered in cheese sauce , a main course of a small (but well cooked) piece of Haibut and a 'rare' venison that was leathery and overcooked , a small bowl of soggy cabbage , carrot and broccoli , finishing with an unremarkable chocolate dessert , at £158 for two and drinks of 3 glasses of red wine and a cider costing over £56 , our Crooked Chimney experience was expensive and disappointing . It was nothing more than a standard , 30 quid a head pub grub . We won't eat there again , nor will we recommend the Crooked Chimney for food .

Came for dinner with my wife for my Birthday started with the calamari, and it was tasteless and uneatable, so chewie then went on to the fish and chips. How could i go wrong but how wrong was it was honestly the worst fiish i have ever had at a restaurant i really struggled to eat it left more than half service was slow second drinks never arrived we paid £57 and it was just a big waste. Really really needs to be better.

I recently had the pleasure of hosting a Christmas wreath-making workshop at this wonderful pub, and I cannot speak highly enough of the experience. From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to help make the event a success, especially Meghan and Louise. Their support in organizing everything was truly invaluable, and it made the entire process so much smoother and more enjoyable. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect. The roaring fire and festive Christmas music created the most magical, cosy setting! It was ideal for a creative and social gathering. The pub itself exudes charm, with its traditional English character and welcoming vibe. It was clear that this pub is more than just a place for a drink. It’s a hub for the community, where everyone feels welcome. I’m so grateful for their hospitality and hard work in helping bring this event to life. I’d highly recommend it to anyone, whether you’re looking for a cosy spot to relax or a venue for a special event, it’s truly a gem. Thank you The Crooked Chimney for everything!

Disappointing. We waited 1 hour for starters. 2 hours for our main courses. Table of 4 and it wasn't particularly busy. Nobody cleared our plates so after 45 mins or so I put them on the bar as I didn't want to look at them any more. Starters of prawns and scallops had 3 prawns and couldn't find scallops in a poor and very floury sauce. Smoked Fish cakes didn't seem to contain any fish though tasted smokey. Bar girl was pleasant but oblivious to any problems. And no-one came to ask us if all was OK. Very amateurish.

Every time I visit this pub the atmosphere is lovely and friendly, staff are very helpful. We had tasty food and enjoyed every bite.

this country pub is a very friendly pub we enjoyed the food with great service also it was nice to see in the bar area that people can bring there dogs as well I wouldn't hesitate going back to a very friendly atmosphere the stuff are very good at what they do

I had had the absolute pleasure of attending the wreath making workshop at The Crooked Chimney recently and want to say a huge thanks to the whole team for such a lovely start to Christmas! The festive nibbles were delicious, Veronica-the lady that ran the workshop-was friendly, helpful and bought with her an extensive variety of personally foraged foliage for us to use and all washed down with a lovely glass of rosé…thanks Crooked Team, and a very Merry Christmas 🎅🏼

The three of us had ordered from the Christmas menu. One of the loveliest Christmas menu' I've ordered from. We all had different dishes, all enjoyed. Will definitely revisit.

While we only came for drinks...and not the first time.....it seems that bar staff can go missing.....you almost have to go and find?? Food looks however I'm unable to comment on the quality or value!!

I recently took my five friends to dine at this pub, drawn in by its historical charm. Unfortunately, our experience fell short. We faced a long wait for our meals, which were chosen from a set menu, and several dishes were unavailable. The staff were hard to find when we needed assistance, which added to the frustrations of the evening. To make matters worse, when I settled the bill discreetly at the bar, we were abruptly shouted at on our way out about not having paid for our food. The young male waiter didn’t apologise and simply walked away, which was incredibly disappointing. Given the reviews of pub's great atmosphere and history, I expected a much better experience, especially with the service. I hope they can improve in these areas, as it has the potential to be a wonderful dining destination.

i went for the wreath making on the 7th of dec it was so good, a special shoutout to sean, louise, fin and megan, they were welcoming and kind and chatty, would recommend

Awful food, we had ordered the roast turkey which was dry, reheated in a microwave with a selection of frozen vegetables. The combination of all sort of roasts was the same and awful taste and bad quality of food. The seats were so dirty I placed some cushions on the seats with the hope that they were cleaner to prevent my clothes getting dirty sitting.

We visited The Crooked Chimney while we was traveling by and I'm so glad this is the place we stopped at, the atmosphere was calm and inviting, the food.. Delicious and amazing prices and the service was the utmost best! Louise (the deputy manager if I remember correctly) is the most lovely lady! We was all very happy with our experience and will be back again!

Great food great atmosphere great staff ,love that you can donate money to buy a homeless person a hot meal .We did this great idea 💡. I would like to have improvement on the choices of non alcoholic drinks only had a few beers 🍺🍺🍺😔.There is a huge choice of non alcoholic beverages so I would like to see a better choice here .Apart from that a great choice of wines and beers and spirits .Food was hot and great congratulations to the team .

Decent food but a long wait, again. We had to hurry up our server and at least 3 families who were in before us had still not received their food. Previously ........So we returned to the CC last week. Friendly staff as ever, but again, a long wait and disappointing food. Our friend's burger and partner's fish looked up to scratch; however our Hunters Chicken was lamentably small portion and my own, small pizza seemed to have constituted chicken and bacon cubed pieces on it rather than real meat. What has happened to the Crooked Chimney? Previously .......... Food is reasonable but not notable - Sunday roast adequate but a steak disappointing. Triple cooked chips hard. Staff are friendly. We had not come here for a while due to very slow service previously - sadly this was no different - over 50 minutes to wait for a Sunday meal.

From looking at other reviews my expectations weren't that high for this restaurant but i was proved wrong. Alisha was a lovely server and was very nice to talk to. The roast dinners were exceptional.
