Country pub & restaurant not far from Hardwick Hall. Perfect on a sunny day. Loads of outdoor seating & grassed areas for the kids. Good service in the restaurant on our visit with the family. Specials were good value, home made pies nice. One of our party opted for the Venison which was well prepared. Can be very busy in the summer & advisable to book in advance for meals. Visited here many times over the years & never fails to impress. The country roads en-route are narrow & unlit at night . Make sure you enter Hardwick Inn into the SatNav & not the Hardwick Hall as it’s quite a trek between the 2.!

Arrived around 1200 without booking and was quickly seated. Food and drinks ordered at the bar with minimum wait. Gammon steak with 2 fried eggs and a Burger Big Stack with 2 refillable soft drinks. Given 2 glasses to dispense own drinks and ice. After short wait our food turned up. My wife's fried eggs were snotty (white still wet) which is not how she likes them. Eggs replaced within a few minutes. Food, drinks and service great, will be returning.

I arrived at the room I booked at night time. It smelt musty, but the thing that stopped me staying the night was that it was cold and the electric heater did not work effectively. The only duvet provided was very thin. I did not spend the night here for this reason.

Called into the Burnt Stump today (Sunday 20th April) for drinks after visiting Papplewick Pumping Station with my Wife and Grandchild, something we always look forward to doing when we've visited the area before and there's never been any problems previously. First of all there is now the car parking issue, noted by others (to their cost) where you have to register your car, or receive a fine........That's going to bring in the punters in isn't it? After registering my car number plate, I went to the bar, which was only moderately busy. There was a Gentleman ordering a meal and drinks, being served by the Barmaid, then a another Fella' behind him, then me. Elsewhere at the bar were a couple of Women talking, with at least one dog with them. They had already been served and at the far end was another person being served by a young Man, who was dealing with Coffees or Hot Chocolates. The first Gentleman was served and then the Fella' next to me, who was just ordering drinks was next to be served by the Barmaid. As part of his order, he ordered a pint of Old Mout Berries and Cherries Cider. He took a couple of drinks and then said he would be back for the Cider, which was being poured under the bar. Then it was my turn to be served. Also a pint of Old Mout Cherries and Berries Cider, a J2O and a Blackcurrant and Soda. Meanwhile the two Women with the dog, had left the bar area and were replaced by another Lady who pointed out that the Women's dog had peed all over the floor. Obviously this wasn't the Pub's staff fault, but a member of the staff had to be informed to bring a bucket and mop, which would have distracted the bar staff somewhat. I was served with the Cider by the Barmaid, which was placed DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME and NOT to the side where the Fella' had just left and was to return. I naturally assumed then, that this was MY drink and his was ready and poured under the bar. As it was a tall, thin glass filled to the top, I drunk the top off to make it easier to carry. The Fella then returned to ask where his drink was and the Barmaid looked at me. I said well it must be this one then, but it was given directly to me and I would give it to him but I'd already supped a bit. The Barmaid curtly said 'It wasn't placed in front of you!!", I said it was. She insisted "No it wasn't, it was placed there!!!", pointing about four feet away from me where the Fella' had been stood originally. Why would I reach across the bar to steal a drink that I would have known damn well belonged to someone else that was coming back to fetch it???!!! Brawls have been known to break out in bars for much lesser accusations. Luckily the Fella' was easy going, although I could tell he believed the Barmaid over me. I should have just walked out at that point, as after asking me again what the final of the three drinks I ordered was (not so sure of herself after all then), I was then charged £6.50 for the Old Mout Cider alone. I won't be making that mistake in a Marston's pub again! Should any staff care to watch the CCTV back to see where the drink was placed, please check on today's footage, Sunday April 20th, at a time between 12.30pm and 1.15pm in the Afternoon (I paid in cash, so can't check the exact time), for me in a dark blue jumper and jeans, at the middle corner of the L-shaped bar, with a Fella' in a baseball cap next to me that came and went and then came back and you will see that your member of staff was very wrong and insulting to a member of the public, who will be thinking twice about going back to the pub any time in the near future!

We did not have a reservation, however, when we arrived a very helpful server, Blythe, went out of her way to accommodate us. The food was good and reasonably priced, as it always is. If you sign up to there web site you will periodically receive vouchers for money off. The kids love it as well. Well worth a visit

Had a carvery here a couple of days ago the food was absolutely shocking. The amount of food they cooked that was just left out was horrendous there was so much food and barley anyone in the restaurant why cook so much food for it just to be left out for so many hours for it just to go cold. It’s just ridiculously. The carvery from here was just disgusting it was un edible the meat was very over cooked , chewy and just out right cold. The food was just cold and basically inedible. Spent a while waiting for a table when booked for a certain time and there was barely anyone in the restaurant. Really unhappy with the quality and the service of the food from this establishment. Won’t be eating here again anytime soon it was horrible.

We chose the Petwood Hotel as it was close to the Lincolnshire Aviation Hertitage Centre which we were visiting and also because of the link to the Dambusters 617 Squadron. We couldn't have chosen better. The location was excellent and the grounds lovely with some surprising finds. The staff were very nice and helpful. We were in room 315 and yes we could hear the bangs etc. from the kitchen which was a bit annoying but didn't spoil our stay which was for 2 nights. We booked an evening meal for the first night and had the biggest steak and ale pie so beware!! but it was lovely. Breakfast was very nice although the staff were a bit fraught as there had been a wedding the day before so had a lot of guests to serve. The second morning was more peaceful and we could choose off the breakfast menu. We loved looking around the hotel especially the bar which has been left as it was during the war with lots of interesting memorabilia. We would definitely stay here again.

Our final visit to the Bonnie Prince before it closes and becomes a Hickory Smokehouse. Great service from the staff as always, especially April. So helpful and makes sure everything is 100% right and everyone is happy. Great to hear we will see her again at the Merlin in the future

Food was horrible. I had lasagne and my dad had the salmon fillet. The salmon was overcooked and dry and the lasagne was soggy and lacking rich flavour that you would expect from a well-made dish. It was asif they microwaved it rather than actually cook it. Disappointing! Don't recommend.
