The best restaurants serving British food in East Midlands

Not that impressed tbf. Celebrating birthday but service was poor. 45 minute wait for main course and 40 minutes wait for pudding, not acceptable, when I spoke with staff member blamed it on staff shortages and other parties, woefully poor excuse, will not attend again for food, very poor..

Most of our breakfast was cold, sent it back and still cold...get your kitchen staff to make sure food is at least warm, hot if possible

Booked a table for a family Christmas lunch on a mid December weekend, specified this as a note on the booking. On the day we were told that you could only have the Christmas menu if you had preordered. At no point when booking online or after had we been asked to preorder and the Christmas menu on the website had not stated preordering was necessary. I had also called pub to confirm booking and hadn't been notified then either. It put a real dampner on a lunch we were all excited for. Made worse by the fact that we were surrounded by other big tables being served from the Christmas menu and with crackers etc and ours was a simple roast. They did offer to add turkey as an alternative to the meat on any of the normal roasts after making a bit of a fuss but the rest of the menu was not avaliable. I love overseas and was looking forward to a traditional Christmas meal and dessert, so a very disappointing visit.

Please let Reece re write the menus, do tasting nights. He is talented, don’t let him go. He can move ur pub to the next level, then the next.

Had a lovely visit , great service, lovely food, we chose fish and chips, a mixed grill and a gammon grill, all were delicious hot and looked and tasted amazing! Looking forward to returning again soon, many thanks.

Dropped in for lunch. Very pleasant and enthusiastic new manager. Very good pub grub and reasonably priced. Nice surroundings.

We drove past this place for our date night and saw the carpark looked busy after passing a few other places that looked quiet further down the road we decided to drive back. Upon arriving the place was filled with atmosphere and families looking to be really enjoying their meals. A few minute wait sat on the bar stools having a drink and they'd managed to find and prepare us a table nicely laid out nearby a roaring warm fire. The food well and truly exceeded our expectations. My moonshine battered haddock was a real portion and tasted fantastic and my partners prawn linguini looked and smelt amazing, we each had to try one anothers as they were both so good. Service was great with smiling friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend and will be returning!

I came here on Friday night with my partner for the first time and we weren’t disappointed. The Fox is a lovely old pub with a great atmosphere and attentive staff. I ordered the crab and lobster fish cakes and my partner had the venison burger. Both really delicious and very filling. We were sad we didn’t have room for dessert! Thanks so much. We’ll definitely be back.

Very friendly helpful staff, great food, fantastic service, lovely farm shop - would highly recommend a visit, looking forward to next week when we’ve booked again!

Under new management and really trying to make a success of it, family and dog friendly it really is great for a village pub

Last minute booking and didn’t disappoint. Lovely, friendly staff and good value food. We will definitely come again.

My husband and I chose this venue for my birthday meal. I ordered the vegan chicken burger but without the plant based cheese (I’m allergic to coconut and it’s made with coconut oil). When the food arrived, I noticed some cheese on my plate. After taking the burger apart, I saw that there was cheese at the very bottom of the burger. I’m so glad I noticed before I started eating! I’m not sure how freshly cooked the burger was as it was served very quickly?! My husband ordered Margarita pizza. This was very disappointing! Luckily, it tasted better than it looked! All of the sauce and cheese were located in the middle of the base, making the pizza extremely dry! All in all, it was an awful experience and we will not be rushing back! We were in and out again within 30 minutes!

Called in for a coffee was very disappointed with the place. It was dirty and scruffy, doesn’t look as though it’s been cleaned in months. The toilet facilities were disgusting as for the food, was this a Bakewell tart as there was no sign of the usual recipe. It was soft the pastry was disgusting I would not recommend this place as they need to close it and give it a good facelift. They also need Gordon Ramsey on the case!!!!!!

Had a lovely lunch, food was great although I felt that the childs Piza was exspensive as it was just 3 pieces of pizza and was £10 and £6 for his pudding. Drinks were also expensive. However tge Italian brunch was £15 per head and very nice although desert was an additional £8 if you didn't like tiramasu
