I just popped in here for a pint after a long walk. Very good barman, excellent ham cob for only £2.50! The regulars were really friendly and helpful too.

Venue was amazing for the birthday party plenty of room for a DJ and dance floor plus a food table and all the guests. Land lady very easy to get hold of and answer any questions you may have. All bar staff very friendly. When setting the venue up the bar staff kept checking in asking if all was ok even bought us drinks in the back room. Defo highly recommend

This is a lovely pub but seems to have been hijacked by Charnwood Brewery in their attempt to grab the whole of Leicestershire. 3 beers on, and all Charnwood Brewed, is this the choice you want to give your customers in a wet lead pub which is essentially a free house? The sign outside advertises a specialist ale house, when actually it's a charnwood ale house, which is odd when one considers that a mile down the road is a Charnwood Brewery micro pub. I reiterate, a lovely pub, with good staff, but come on Billie, what happened to the choice in your other venues, let Charnwood brew your Billie Bitter, but don't clog your pumps up with their other rubbish available just around the corner.

A fantastic village pub with great beer and friendly professional bar staff. The locals and Jack the pub dog are also very friendly and welcoming. If only every village had a pub like this. There is plenty of space and outdoor seating and the COVID precautions are still in place with staff wearing masks and lots of sanitiser. The landlord must very proud of his pub and we need more pubs run this way.

Shocking landlord!!!! Went for drinks with two friends and although the pub itself is lovely the landlord is atrocious!!!!! He rolled his eyes in front of me just because I asked for lime in my lager!!! REALLY!!! He was curt and aloof with zero people skills and just looked like he did not want to be there!!!! Please god avoid this terrible man and go anywhere else for a better pint !!!!

The pub itself is a lovely, quaint establishment. However landlord (Clive) isn’t such a nice chap. Very rude and pompous. What’s more the sign outside states free room for parties and meetings. The room is actually £30 which isn’t made clear, false advertising...? Not according the the bald chap behind the bar.

Having visited a few times now I can honestly say I love this place. It is quaint with little nooks and crannies that you can be on your own in or with friends. There it's a good selection of beers on at a reasonable price. The landlord is very friendly and knowledgeable. Toilets are scented and clean. Would highly recommend for a quiet drink

I don't understand the two people who call Clive, the landlord rude, he has a dry sense of humour, but in my experience is very friendly. The bar staff are also all very friendly and its a great pub to visit, both child and dog friendly.

One of the only pubs left in the village now, the Horse & Trumpet is a nice, cosy pub. Good for a drink, has outdoor space to sit and is dog friendly. Also has a great function room for parties.

I have been to several Steaming Billy pubs and have enjoyed them all, until that is I came across the Horse and Trumpet in Sileby. This pub let's the whole chain down simply because of the landlord. Having been there 3/4 times for a drink and to try and give the landlord the benefit of the doubt, everytime I have been met by a curt, condescending and frankly arrogant man behind the bar who I have since learnt is the landlord. A shame as without him ruining the atmosphere the moment you walk in it could be a really nice pub. He simply looks like he doesn't want to be there and is the last sort of person you would want to be the landlord of a village pub. Won't be rushing back.

The very least I expect from a landlord is courtesy. I'll except slow service and dithering, almost anything, but I will never except rude behaviour and arrogance. If a landlord can't be respectful to a customer he is in the wrong business. If I had been on my own I would have walked out, but the landlord's behaviour had upset my partner and I didn't want to make her feel worse. So we left as soon as we had had our drinks, and we will not be going back.

Popped in for a drink while taking the dog for a walk. Nice pub. A Steaming Billy pub it has good beers on offer. Beer garden to the back. Nice rooms round the corner to sit out of the hustle and bustle of the front of the pub. Dog friendly. They have a jar of dog treats on the bar, so you can grab a few for the furry friend while having a pint.

Do not book the function room / or back room as he calls it, it might be free but he has no loyalty or good management, let's it out to all the pub even tho you've set up & he promised it would be locked til you arrived, absolutely a shambles & disgrace to the Steaming Billie name 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Our group of friends dropped in for an early evening drink and found a a warm welcome. There were a fine selection of real ales on offer (which were well kept we discovered as we worked our way through them!). Discounts on Steaming Billy beers are available if a Steaming Billy card is held. The pub has a collection of nooks as seating areas within the pub so it was easy to find a spot to suit us all away from the bar (as we wanted conversation between ourselves rather than being engaged in the locals conversations -as they were happy to include us in their chat if we'd wanted to.). We weren't there for food but signs indicated it is done here.

This pub is local to us and since Clive the landlord came and it joined the small Steaming Billy chain, it has become a favourite. It's a pub where you can pop in for a drink any time and get good service and find yourself a place to sit and relax. They have lots of evening themes and bands too which is great, but overall it's just a great place to have a nice pint and relax. They're a dog friendly pub too which is great and you'll see often see a well behaved dog there. Highly recommended, pop in when you're next passing. It's ideally situated by a bus stop and the train station too, so you can leave the car at home!

The title of the review says it all really. Nice place for a stop off when walking, or passing through Sileby. As good as Free Trade. Nice to see good pub model yielding dividends. Welcoming and friendly as other reviewers suggest.

Many a time we go out with our dog and find it really difficult to find some where to stop and have a drink and bit to eat. Upon recommendation we tried the horse and trumpet last Saturday and my big labradoodle was made very welcome. A quaint little pub in a little village serving good ale and nice coffee. Didn't realise they sold food but would have happily sampled the menu. Next time. ....

For many years this was an unpopular pub in need of a bit of TLC and some nicer customers; then along came the Steaming Billy Company with their unique offering of nice surroundings, quality beers (including their own brews) and great staff. The landlord, Clive, is very experienced, very professional and, well, he's alright actually.his is a pub where you can come along on your own for a quite drink or a chat with a new friend, because if you are alone someone will soon talk to you.

Been here a few times and always seem to regret it when the bill comes out. Working farm is a good atmosphere, nice food, OK staff, eye-wateringly expensive prices to the point you're better off going somewhere - ANYWHERE - else. Decided now won't be going back.

My husband and I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone at the wheatsheaf for making our day so special. We got married on the 20th September and hired the room upstairs for a big table of 20 and had our wedding meal here. The pub has such a lovely welcoming feel and the staff and food are amazing. Everyone is so accommodating and service fantastic! We definitely will be returning. Highly recommended. Thank you again to you all. Mr & Mrs Marshall
