Waterside inn in Charnwood

A great menu, brilliant service and superb value. Really good value for quality food. Seabass was delicious and highly recommend.

Another excellent meal here, staff were great, had a nice cosy table & a really good price. We'll definitely be back

First time at this pub for a birthday celebration. Food was good. But the pub was so cold on one of the coldest nights of the year. (Jan 18th). Log burner full of logs but not lit. Eating food in our coats. Couldn't wait to get home. Probably the next visit will be summer.

The 1st visit of the The Waterside Inn is narrowboat ride and I bought a BBQ 🍗 Chicken 🍗 and Bacon 🥓 Burger 🍔 with chips 🍟 and salad 🥗 and Pepsi max coke with lemon 🍋

Disappointed that there were no full bottles of prosecco available to compliment our meal early on a Friday evening. This was followed today by being let down by having a birthday lunch for 8 cancelled, admittedly due to lack of gas but with no offer of recompense.

Always great service and food and reasonably priced.

We ate at the Waterside Inn on Sat 25th. We had 1 x Stilton mushroom starter, Lasagne and Sea Bass mains. 1 x Roulade sweet. 2 x White Wines, 1 1/2 pints Tiger ale. All the food was well cooked and presented, Service was prompt and good humoured, The bill was for £64:75. We enjoyed our visit and the Waterside is recommended . Paul Reynolds.

Great service and great food. Can't fault anything although coleslaw needs to change as nothing like coleslaw. Also the menu lacks a good curry like a tikka masala.

Had an early dinner here yesterday, 20 Jan. Friendly staff, nice beer and food, thought the price was reasonable compared to other food pubs in MSorrell, Birstall, Rothley etc. We'll be back.

Had our Christmas party there the food was really nice great service to.

Went for meal with the mrs got served about 11 ish to ask what to eat we ordered. Still at 1:45 no food so got up and left will not be returning here again

Just back from a fabulous festive lunch. We were a group of ladies and every one of us have said it’s been the best experience. The food was fabulous, so fresh and beautifully cooked ( one tiny comment was that the parsnips were a bit hard!) You managed to cater for all our requirements. Staff were so lovely and really looked after us. Special mention to Cerise who sorted all the initial booking issues we had, you really did go above and beyond, thank you

Good food and service worth a visit

We just visited as a table of 7 for my sons 19th birthday and we all had a lovely time. The food was really tasty and the service was super efficient and friendly. Will certainly visit again. 😊

Excellent Sunday afternoon meal for 4. Dog friendly area. Efficient and friendly staff and a nice dining atmosphere. It was busy, so we recommend booking. Sea bass was excellent as was the rump steak. The posh pigs in blankets were …. posh!! And the pork belly hit the spot, super crackling.

Busy for a Tuesday lunchtime but we had booked. First impression not great, person at the counter didn't really acknowledge us. However the food was good. We had the lighter lunch and it was a perfect size to be honest. Nice view if the locks, would be really lovely on a summer's day. Car park small and tight.

Lovely food and great service a lovely place to eat .the 2 waitress we had were very friendly and helpful .generous sized portions for meal and pudding would definitely eat here again.

30. Oct. Went last night was very disappointing both food and service time. Had lasagna was burnt in the dish, guest with us had posh pigs these were undercooked and sausages only just cooked in the centre. Pudding came mist of the apple blackberry crumble was on the paper napkin and was just topping. Guest also had the same a very thin layer of fruit and a inch and half of topping which was hard and dry. Complained first had £7.00 off the bill. Spoke with the manager who removed full cost of burnt lasagna and the 2 puddings. Felt the service was slow and could be improved. Disappointing visit would not be going again

Spent 2 hours at my sisters birthday meal here the food was so nice and fresh

Called for a quick bite here prior to seeing a show at the MMC Venue on a cold, dark and wet night. Had a nice welcome upon arrival and shown to our table. There was a good selection on the menu. Only really had time for a main and I chose the Sea Bass which was delicious. All of us had different meals that we all enjoyed. Good food and good service... could not ask for more. Must come again when I have more time.

Very busy, but still excellent food and service

Lovely relaxing place. Over looks Canal. Plenty of parking and flat ground for walking. Kid and Dog friendly.

Great place would recommend for any occasion

Went for a school reunion lunch here and everyone seemed to enjoy the food. There was a bit of confusion over what was a large order, but all was sorted in quick time. All staff were pleasant and attentive. If I have one moan it was there was only one zero percent beer on offer. But that is a definite 1st world problem.

Just home from a most enjoyable lunch. This was pre booked for our walking group. Praise to Dan and Claire or excellent customer service and to the staff backstage for providing tasty meals with very little waiting time. We will return ! Thank you 🙏

The carvery is excellent and worth the price. Get all three choices of meat and is a help yourself system.

The Waterside Inn is a nice traditional village pub. There is a good selection of beers lager and cider, including two hand-pulled cask conditioned real ales, which were in excellent condition when i visited. There are no bar games, The pub is more of a restaurant. It is very popular for meals. i haven't tried the food, but the menu looked very tempting. There is a large outside covered seating area and tables overlooking the river. It's a nice pub worth visiting.

I ate here on my own before a gig at the MMC venue and had a lovely katsu chicken and malteser cheesecake. Beautiful location.

We ate here as a group of 4 in December and really enjoyed it. Visited again on Saturday and a completely different experience. Arrived early hoping for a pre dinner drink but got rushed to our table. Friendly waitress came to take drink order and we asked what real ales were available. She went to bar to ask and returned to let us know there was a session IPA which we all ordered. When arrived was more like lager and lime. It appeared on the bill as lager!! Food order placed and arrived very quickly. All ok. Mains arrived 2 fish and chips and 2 steak and Stilton flatbreads. Skinny fries with flatbreads cold and chewy. These were quickly replaced and very hot. Meat cooked ok but flatbreads were crispy and broke apart and no flavour. Fish and chips ok but greasy. When asked what we thought of the beer we said wouldn’t have again. Everything was so rushed we were bought our bill less than an hour of arriving. Although staff friendly and efficient would not go back. Very rushed and overall poor food. Not sure if has changed hands but a very different experience.

They don't do food here but the staff are friendly and it's not expensive

Visited today a sunny Sunday, pub had 2 bouncing castles outside loads of benches great atmosphere. Sat with family n kids ordered few different dishes for us to all share highly recommend.

Had many meals here and they've always been great. Good service. Friendly staff. Nice food. Varied menu. They also take dogs in the bar area and during the summer they have bouncy castles for kids

Maddie was a wonderful waitress, very quick to take our orders and very polite. A real credit to the Waterside Inn. The food (chicken flatbread and cheese bacon burger no gherkin)was cooked beautifully and the onion rings are the best we have ever had.

We come here several times a week and the staff are always so accommodating and friendly. Service with a smile always, and the food is always amazing. Maddie was particularly helpful today! Very busy canal side pub, lovely surroundings and beautiful to sit outside. There's ample garden space plus parking. Comfortable and cozy interior with a good choice of drinks available. Full and varied menu, the onion rings were amazing!! Huge battered homemade style, accompanied with chunky cut chips. Would definitely recommend and will return. Staff were friendly and polite. Lucky to have been born and live free in the UK so we can go to places like this. Lovely pub great food and today it was involved in the Mountsorrel festival great.

Visited with family for a casual birthday meal. Seated quickly and drinks ordered, slight issue with drinks but amended quickly and gracefully. Food was to a high standard, big portions and absolutely delicious. Only downside is medium rare steak came more medium well, but not fussy! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, one of our favourite places to visit in Mountsorrel. 5*

Good place to have a motorhome stop over. Excellent quiet location. Good walks along the canal for the dogs. Busy family pub but quiet during the night. Large flat grass parking area. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good food, a little expensive but with a free stopover it was still good value. The carpark gate is locked overnight and open about 10:30 am. so fine unless you need to leave early. Recommend.

Went for a meal here with a friend, the starter was only warm and when the main came out it was cold. It was taken back to the kitchen where it was obvious it was warmed up in the microwave, I would have expected a fresh meal to be provided. The waitress was lovely and did give her apologies.

Peter Easthopevisited on Sun, 28 July 2024 We arrived at 1.30pm knowing that that we had to vacate the table by 3.15. We were seated fairly quickly. Drinks arrived promptly however by 2,15 our food hadn’t arrived. This was no problem as it was a special occasion with members of our closest family,, however we were then approached by a member of staff who was very rude and aggressive and she told us we’d have to vacate the table at 3.00 pm. We were quite offended by her attitude and felt we were owed an apology which she refused. How would we be expected to eat a meal which hadn’t yet appeared by 3pm followed by a dessert within 45 minutes? Consequently no gratuity was left, We have visited the Waterside on many previous occasions but won’t be going there again

Lovely pub beside the canal. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was very pleasant. What stood out the most for me was how attentive the staff were, excellent customer service, well done!

Lovely atmosphere with a view of the boats going through the lock from our inside table. Six adults, three children & one baby in our lunch party. Nice choice of food and drink at reasonable prices. Everyone had a lovely time. Only four stars as it took a fair while to take our orders and bring them to the table. However it was very busy so not too bad in the circumstances.

Visited for the first time 27th July... Called ahead and booked a table... Wasn't sure we'd get one with it being a Saturday..... Food was very nice... Good choice... Service was excellent.... Staff all very polite and friendly.....It was very busy especially outside but did not have to wait to long for food.. It was table service.... This a bonus.. No waiting at the bar to be served... Also very dog friendly..

Half of the Waterside is great , that’s the part that’s been in situation a 100 years. Not so keen on the new additions but it looks good for business.

Haven't been hear for 30 plus years! Has sentimental history to Karen( Wife) and I.I took my Late mum for ger 1st Bar Meal hear 43 years ago and Karen has similar memories with her Mum& Dad. This is an Everards Tena ncy so had a great Drink menu.Food was good.We didn't have starters for mains we had me- 10 0z Rump steak cooked to perfection and came with 2 x Onion Rings and 6 scampi on a skewer served with Salad and Chunky chips. Karen had a Backon & Cheese Burger served with Skinny fries. Desserts lovely,Lemon and white chocolate cheese cake & Rasberry & White chocolate roulade.Irish coffee & Yorkshire Tea

Excellent service and top rate on food.

We booked for 2.00pm and specifically asked for a restaurant table, we arrived, were rudely told we could either have a very long wait as our table wasn’t ready or we could have the cramped, noisy table next to a very busy bar straight away. The Tuxford chicken was dry, tasteless and had a hidden 2” bone in it that I didn’t find until I chewed it, I could have choked. Not happy!

Had a wonderful evening Thursday 11th July celebrating my wife’s 60th birthday, excellent food ,service and special thanks to the lovely young lady that took our order and served us she was a delight, will be back soon 😊

Lovely setting, atmosphere. Staff very friendly & helpful. Food was yummy but the main course (smothered chicken), for what you pay, was small. Would recommend however and would return.

Overall the food was lovely and the prices are very reasonable! The only sight downside was the speed of service considering the pub wasn’t too busy. On two occasions the waitress forgot to follow through after leaving our table (to bring over drinks and to bring the bill).

Absolutely brilliant with everything couldn't have asked for better. The staff were amazing very helpful. Overall brilliant, thank you all.

We went in around 6pm tonight (a busy Friday evening), and we had not book a table. The lady on the front of house sorted us a tablet 20 mins after arriving, the food was very good, definitely 5* for sevice all staff were amazing thank you

Excellent Sunday Carvery. Plenty of other choices on the menu and a separate Gluten Free menu with a decent amount of choices. Service was fantastic, staff friendly and gave us plenty of time to choose our food and drinks and the Gluten Free Carvery was plated up in the kitchen to avoid cross contamination from shared utensils. Will definitely be going back again soon

Wonderful staff, food excellent, would recommend to anybody. Steak probably the best I've had and the staff were faultless.

Food is good quality, if a little limited. They were very happy to make some swaps for the main course. However, 5 of the 6 puddings were chocolate based, so unless you like chocolate or fancy sticky toffee pudding, you will end up without any options for pudding. Having said that, it is highly likely we will return.

We went here after a funeral service there were 19 of us and the service and the way we were looked after was first class I mean really exceptional, the staff were just fantastic, the food all came out at the same time and was delicious hot and tasty! Thank you so much for accommodating such a large group so brilliantly. The location is also lovely we sat and watched the barges go through the locks whilst eating.

Nice setting on the canal. Poor overpriced food. Not worth the money. Steak pie has never been steak the dog turned his nose up at it in disgust. Service good. If you want quality food try somewhere else. Preferably mcdonalds at least you know what your getting and it's considerably cheaper
