Yaz is a breath of fresh air, her northern Yorkshire personality shines through, I was hosted and served with amazing hospitality. She was always smiling and couldn’t do enough. 10/10.

Lovely birthday meal for my mum. It was quieter when we went which i prefer but couldnt fault the service. Mums battered fish was as good as a chippy. The seabass was amazing. The loaded fries not what we expected tho. It was loaded with alot of mayo and grated parmeson would have been nicer.

Never been here before, but when we arrived we struggled to even find our way into the pub!! Thought it was closed but you had to go in through the back entrance, a bit random. Can't knock the pub or toilet for cleanliness but unfortunately the ale was flat and didn't taste nice and we had to leave nearly half a pint of expensive beer!! Im sure it would be better on a weekend as we went on a Wednesday around 4 o'clock. But wasn't impressed for a first visit, won't be rushing back.

First time here for a few years and boy we will definitely be regulars now We visited as a family and were absolutely delighted with the service the menus and the lovely friendly attitude of the staff The menu had a good varied selection for all tastes the quality and presentation of the food was first class The friendly staff and their efficiency made the whole time spent there a really pleasant one and we have already booked to come back Highly recommend this restaurant

I went with a large group which included children. I have waited in the past and understand that it can be difficult to serve a large group of families. We were all as considerate as possible and friendly and helpful, however what we received back from many of the waiting staff was rudeness and hostility. At one point one waitress rolled her eyes at me. I was stunned by how openly unfriendly the staff were being. Our whole experience made us feel very unwelcome. If children and families are not welcome, then I would prefer to know that before booking. Needless to say non of our group will ever be returning.

Food was amazing and staff lovely. No gluten free menu but they provide a tablet with allergen listings that are allow the menu to the filtered by allergen! Staff informative and advised that some food items while ingredients are Gluten Free, share a fryer so at risk of cross contamination. Far more spacious inside that it appears on the outside with ample seating. A lovely atmosphere and will be visiting again.

Yaz was brilliant with our intolerances and really friendly and welcoming. We’ll be back!

I've been coming here for years and it's always been a reliable place to eat. The food was lovely as usual. However, on this occasion, the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, which unfortunately affected the service. My order was incorrect, and unfortunately, the staff ignored me when they noticed it was incorrect. I still appreciate the quality of the food and hope for the usual great experience next time!

It was only our first visit but we were not disappointed. Lovely clean pub, nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was well presented and of good quality. The only downside was that the service was a little slow and some of the wine by the glass prices seemed peculiarly high £20 upwards?! Otherwise, the overall experience was enjoyable.

We came with my family for Sunday dinner. The food was presented well but the Beef and chicken were very dry and over cooked. The staff were very welcoming but I will not be eating here again in the near future. Sorry.

Absolutely fantastic place. I’m going to list, prepare yourself…great parking, attentive and polite friendly staff, clean and contemporary surroundings, extensive exciting menu (I love my food), pan fried lamb mwah!😘, rhubarb and strawberry crumble to die for!! Fish and chips were very light and tasty according the husband. We would definitely come back and we’re from Derby so not just round the corner but worth a little drive for sure!! 👌🏻 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This place is good for a drink and the food is good to. I particularly like the cornish ribeye steak and the sticky chicken, sad it got taken off of the menu.

The service was terrible. Despite reminding them multiple times and enduring long waiting times, they forgot to provide us with a starter. The staff insisted that it had already been provided before we left.

Food was excellent. Hot to table. Quick and excellent service. My sever name was will and he was engaging and attentive . Chef Chris cooked just right on all levels. It came close to me licking plates clean. Would definitely recommend and already planning our next visit.

Won't be back anytime soon. Couldn't hear ourselves speak, ordered myself from bar twice (2 large colas and a shiraz £22) Side portions ( M&C a joke?) We feel very let down

Friendly and welcoming pub. Had a very romantic table next to the wine racks. Will’s service was warm and he took great care of us. We shared the camembert to start followed by the belly pork and the duck salad. Compliments to Tim the chef.

Fantastic dining experience for 25 of us for a family birthday. The service from the team was great, plenty of people working and very polite, friendly & attentive. The food was all served in good time and everyone was really impressed by the quality on a very busy Sunday afternoon.

Haven’t eaten here for a long time but cannot fault today’s food and service. Lovely surroundings and comfy environment. Will was our server and he was excellent, attentive but respectful and lovely engagement through our meal. The food was very excellent. Will be returning again.

Diabolical. Extremely slow service, luke warm food, a waitress very almost hit my baby in the head with a hot plate, only didn't because my sister and I stopped her, and she didn't even apologise or acknowledge how stupid she had been. Extremely expensive for a substandard meal. We've tried 3 times, due to family members liking it, and we won't be back. Enough is enough.

I've never been before so didn't know what to expect. On entry you are made so welcome, shown to a table and asked if that was OK for us, the drinks came immediately and so did our food after ordering. I will most certainly be going back there again. I don't know how much my friend spent but it was worth it. Thankyou

It was extremely busy so food was slow coming out however our server was lovely, kept checking in with us and was quick to organise drinks etc. Food was lovely and good sized portions. Main issue was with it being so busy it was really noisy so conversation was hard but not sure what they can do about that other than some sort of decor or furnishings that absorb sound! Will happily go back.

Decided to stop here for lunch after a long drive back home. Food was really good, the slow cooked pork belly with scallops was excellent and my partner said her oven cooked monkfish hit the spot as well. After such brilliant food we could not resist having a dessert as well. It's been a little while since we've dined here and this time around the Old Bulls Head did not disappoint.

Possibly the worst pizza we’ve ever eaten, bases was like cardboard and not much toppings, 2 people had fillet steak 1 was O.K. The other was tough but the dog enjoyed it. We ordered a round of drinks which didn’t come until we chased them. The gents toilets we’re disgusting 2 urinals were taped off and the other 3 were like swamps under them.

We came here for Sunday lunch and it was a lovely experience! The menu had plenty to choose from and the roast dinners were lovely. We ordered and had time to enjoy a drink before eating. The service was excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive. Also, the toilets were modern and well kept - always a good sign. A great experience, would definitely recommend :)

For a party of 8 there is always the risk that the service might not be up to scratch with meals being served in waves but this was not the case for us. The service was excellent and the food meals arrived all together. The menu is extensive enough to please most diners and the quality of the food was excellent. It is a lovely setting and very comfortable. A bonus was having a table to accommodate the whole party and not having to raise voices over too-loud ambient music which meant we could have good conversations throughout the meal.

We had the Valentine’s set menu last night and we’re really impressed with our overall experience Zara looked after us very well . The £40 add on for a bottle of Moet champagne was a welcome addition to our evening

This pub is in a wonderful location and not far from Beacon Hill. The interior is welcoming and it looks nice. Had a few drinks at the bar area before being shown to a table. The food should really be coming out hot. After a couple of mouthfuls the dish was luke-warm. Ordered garlic bread but it only came out halfway through the meal. The desserts were nice and tasty but overall it was quite an expensive meal. Staff were good and helpful.

We hadn't been to the Old Bulls Head for many years and fancied a return visit for a date night. I was very pleased with our choice! The restaurant has a higher end look and atmosphere which made it feel like a real treat. There were plenty of vegetarian options for myself, with the veggie burger being delicious. My husband was particularly appreciative of the option to have three small versions of the desserts, meaning he didn't have to choose! It was just the right amount of busy for a Saturday night - not devoid of atmosphere but not overly crowded either. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be returning.

considering you were super busy on sunday lunchtime our waitress looked after us quickly and efficiently, and took time to check one of our partys allergy requirements, food was of a good standard and hot, so much so we ordered starters mains and desserts bill was just over 200 quid for 4 and i left a tip!

After a busy day with the kids shopping, rather than eat some average quality food in the city we decided to head back to our local where we know the quality of food is always exceptional and the service and atmosphere is 10/10. This was a quicker visit than we normally do and the choices we made were all brought out in a timely manner and as always the quality was amazing. Will served us doing an exceptional job and the chef Chris nailed it again. Well done to Dan and his team again.

Service was great, we were seated in an alcove and the atmosphere was pleasant. All staff catered for drink orders and food was served promptly. Thank you.

The Old Bulls Head in Woodhouse holds a strong reputation, but our visit left room for improvement. On arrival, the bar was cluttered with empty glasses and plates, which was disappointing for such an esteemed venue. While it’s a busy time of year, first impressions matter. However, the food was served promptly and met expectations, and the table service was attentive and professional, maintaining their high standards. With a little more focus on presentation, they’ll continue to thrive.

We went for a family of 8 boxing day meal and the service was very poor. When arrived we stood waiting to be seated and I had to.ask someone to attend to us..... We were.seated and left. We had to ask after 10 - 15mins if someone could take our orders for drinks. We had to ask 3 times if we could order food. We had the Festive 3 Course Menu. The soup starter was nice but we had no butter for the bread on the table. Then we had to wait at least 15mins before anyone cleared the table. The Pork Belly was the fattest I have seen and the crackling was to hard to eat! The steaks were nice and the Sea Bass. The Turkey Dinner was very small and came with literally 2 wedges of carrots and very little of anything else. I then had to ask a server if we could be attended to for ordering the desserts Desserts, the chocolate brownie was not good, they had ran out of Christmas Pudding - which is crazy for the time of year! What was supposed to be a lovely family dinner out for the first time it turned out to be very costly and very poor! And we just wanted to get out of there. I have to say it was a major let down as I had said how good the food was as I have been many times before but this time has changed my views

My boyfriend and I had lunch here today after visiting Beacon Hill, and it was a delightful experience. The food was delicious, and we particularly enjoyed the festive Christmas decorations, which added to the cosy and inviting atmosphere. The pub looked absolutely amazing. Definitely somewhere we’d visit again!

Thank you so much for such a wonderful christmas eve. We were promptly sat in a lovely area and were very pleased with the atmosphere our party of 10 (originally 11) we sat near to the bar in the restaurant area and were happy to not feel cramped or squashed. about only small thing was that our drinks took quite a while, but we can appreciate it was very busy and our lovely waiter (we didn’t get a name unfortunately!) chased them up for us without us asking. His spectacular service made the night, so thank you to him! Everyone enjoyed their food, and the steaks didn’t even need a steak knife. Food was massively overpriced for what was on the menu. I had line caught cod that was horrendous- must have been caught by mistake!! A few chips and small pot of pea purée for £18 - never again !!!!
