Excellent service, very friendly & professional. Something for everyone on the menu. Good availability of wine by the glass. Our food was delicious. Particularly like the mini dessert/hot drink option.

Good parking, nice decor, lovely food, friendly staff. Also good for anyone with mobility issues as no steps to enter the main entrance. Disabled toilet also near the entrance

considering you were super busy on sunday lunchtime our waitress looked after us quickly and efficiently, and took time to check one of our partys allergy requirements, food was of a good standard and hot, so much so we ordered starters mains and desserts bill was just over 200 quid for 4 and i left a tip!

After a busy day with the kids shopping, rather than eat some average quality food in the city we decided to head back to our local where we know the quality of food is always exceptional and the service and atmosphere is 10/10. This was a quicker visit than we normally do and the choices we made were all brought out in a timely manner and as always the quality was amazing. Will served us doing an exceptional job and the chef Chris nailed it again. Well done to Dan and his team again.

Service was great, we were seated in an alcove and the atmosphere was pleasant. All staff catered for drink orders and food was served promptly. Thank you.

The Old Bulls Head in Woodhouse holds a strong reputation, but our visit left room for improvement. On arrival, the bar was cluttered with empty glasses and plates, which was disappointing for such an esteemed venue. While it’s a busy time of year, first impressions matter. However, the food was served promptly and met expectations, and the table service was attentive and professional, maintaining their high standards. With a little more focus on presentation, they’ll continue to thrive.

My boyfriend and I had lunch here today after visiting Beacon Hill, and it was a delightful experience. The food was delicious, and we particularly enjoyed the festive Christmas decorations, which added to the cosy and inviting atmosphere. The pub looked absolutely amazing. Definitely somewhere we’d visit again!

We went for a family of 8 boxing day meal and the service was very poor. When arrived we stood waiting to be seated and I had to.ask someone to attend to us..... We were.seated and left. We had to ask after 10 - 15mins if someone could take our orders for drinks. We had to ask 3 times if we could order food. We had the Festive 3 Course Menu. The soup starter was nice but we had no butter for the bread on the table. Then we had to wait at least 15mins before anyone cleared the table. The Pork Belly was the fattest I have seen and the crackling was to hard to eat! The steaks were nice and the Sea Bass. The Turkey Dinner was very small and came with literally 2 wedges of carrots and very little of anything else. I then had to ask a server if we could be attended to for ordering the desserts Desserts, the chocolate brownie was not good, they had ran out of Christmas Pudding - which is crazy for the time of year! What was supposed to be a lovely family dinner out for the first time it turned out to be very costly and very poor! And we just wanted to get out of there. I have to say it was a major let down as I had said how good the food was as I have been many times before but this time has changed my views

Thank you so much for such a wonderful christmas eve. We were promptly sat in a lovely area and were very pleased with the atmosphere our party of 10 (originally 11) we sat near to the bar in the restaurant area and were happy to not feel cramped or squashed. about only small thing was that our drinks took quite a while, but we can appreciate it was very busy and our lovely waiter (we didn’t get a name unfortunately!) chased them up for us without us asking. His spectacular service made the night, so thank you to him! Everyone enjoyed their food, and the steaks didn’t even need a steak knife. Food was massively overpriced for what was on the menu. I had line caught cod that was horrendous- must have been caught by mistake!! A few chips and small pot of pea purée for £18 - never again !!!!

Went for a quick drink with my better half on Saturday afternoon. Atmosphere is immediately welcoming and their Christmas decor is classy and inviting. Bar service was snappy and seating very comfy. Drinks prices are average for area. On this occasion didn't partake of any food but will certainly not the the last time we visit.

Food was cooked fresh and arrived at the table nice and hot! Really nicely decorated inside and staff we're all very welcoming.

What was supposed to be a lovely anniversary meal turned into a very awkward night due to staff. We had booked the table online and were excited to go because of the great reviews. We chose the Christmas menu 3 course meal in the restaurant. When we arrived at 7.30pm the table wasn't ready which was understandable because it was a busy evening, so we had a drink at the bar, the woman at the bar was really nice and the drinks really well made. When we returned to the server to ask about the table at 8pm, we watched her scrambling to set a table in the area near the bar with two other tables. We were a little disappointed as we wanted to be in the restaurant area and the table felt like the bar area. When we ordered the server seemed very unsure about how the 3 course deal worked, we were told we could have red wine as the drink but later told we couldn't. We ordered all three courses at once but the server left the table before we could order the cocktail that came with it. The starter came out super quickly, we both had scallops, the food was amazing! We couldn't fault the food throughout the night. After the mains we were told the deserts we ordered 1 hour and a half ago had suddenly ran out even though we saw other tables recieve the same desert they had ran out of. I was so disappointed as we had ordered it at the start of the evening, I would understand if we were told when we ordered it it had ran out but not an hour and a half after ordering it. We both ordered the white chocolate creme brulee and given large desert spoons which seemed wrong for a small delicate dish. At this time we asked about ordering the cocktails and the waitresses looked bewildered and went to ask who we assumed was the manager which she had done several times on our orders that evening. It was at this point we started to feel unwelcome. After we recieved our drinks they were quick to clear our deserts, all other tables around us were empty and it was about 9.30pm. We watched the staff flap about with getting boxes of Christmas decorations out and watching the manager loudly instruct staff on what she wanted doing. We watched in disbelief when they started dragging tables around us and organising set up for the next day around us. We felt incredibly in the way of them setting up and the nice relaxed vibe was killed by the very hectic rush around by the staff to move tables and set up for what we figured out was breakfast with santa the next morning. We rushed our drinks and paid the bill to get out the way and in the time it took us to leave our table and sit in the bar they had already started moving our table about which confirmed the feeling of the staff wanting us to move. We felt really rushed and unimportant, what was supposed to be a special night for us was ultimately ruined. We left and had a much nicer drink at the pear tree where we received a very warm welcome and lovely service by their staff, even 15 minutes to their closing time they were far more accommodating than the appalling service we received from the bulls head. I had sent this review to their review system and asked for someone to contact me regarding the situation but it has yet to be resolved after a week. So disappointing.

A lovely village pub with great food, shame they run out of both fish specials. Service was very friendly but slow.

The issues experienced are all issues anyone in hospitality can face and therefore rectifiable but the food was terrible tonight if I’m being totally honest. Our three person party thought the Festive menu sounded like the best value and upgraded to the drinks package. Two of us ordered the scallops for starters which had a strange charred flavour. This is a first and the fact is my drink couldn’t wash the taste away. I wasn’t going to say anything but did because they charge premium prices for their food. They were replaced and the new scallops were more delicately cooked and still tasted burnt. The steak was average and again I could taste the same char which is not totally unwelcome when it comes to steak. It does need some kind of sear but it led me to believe the problem was with the pans the kitchen were using. There were no mushrooms available as per the menu and we were not offered a choice just replaced with half a tomato. Chips were just frozen chips which again at the price I would expect fresh potatoes. This experience is contrary to my previous chateaubriand experience which was incredible. This however was a £200 nightmare albeit for the drinks, desserts and table service! our main server from Watford was very good. When it came to taking payment of the bill however his colleague's took a lifetime. Not sure we will be back which is so disappointing as the building inside and out is fabulous. I’m really wanting to finish my summary on a positive and recommend the kumquat Christmas pudding from the Festive menu which was fantastic.

Had a lovely meal to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary, on the spur of the moment decision to have lunch. Had the festive 3 course and must say it was the best meal ever. Lovely place, lovely staff, really lovely food, well presented. The whole experience was perfect. We will be returning for sure. Thank you for a really nice time

We had a wonderful meal here on Sunday, shared a Sunday sharing board, absolutely plenty for two people. The chocolate orange martini went down well also. Will definitely visit again.

Great food and drinks. Service was great at times... Bit chatty amongst themselves on others. But it didn't detract. Had a great time and the server was really great with us and the wee one. Lots of food.. And all really tasty. A recommended place for restraunt to pub grub plus level food. Good bar atmosphere and dog friendly too.

Another birthday meal at the Old Bulls Head. Rebecca looked after us so well and the birthday lunch was delicious. We'll done to the kitchen team who coped so brilliantly with our mish-mash lunch order! Even though the restaurant was busy, the food arrived hot and within half an hour of ordering. We'll done, we'll be back!

We recently enjoyed the three-meat Sunday dinner and were very impressed. The customer service was excellent—friendly and attentive—and the food arrived quickly. While the menu mentioned 21-day-aged sirloin steak, it seemed more like a slice of beef rather than a traditional steak, especially compared to a similar dish we had at Miller and Carter the week before. Additionally, we weren’t asked how we’d like it cooked. That said, it was still very tasty and satisfying. The atmosphere was lovely, making for an enjoyable dining experience. Overall, we’d highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning!

Came here to do some work on the back room ceiling aswell as other areas across the pub. Some fantastic staff work here... I didn't get all their names. But I'd like to send praise to Emma, Amanda and all of the ladies working in the restaurant and to the chefs who were extremely helpful during my time on site yesterday. The food coming from the kitchen looked stunning and also working in the back of house I could see the chefs took a real pride in the food they were preparing and sending out to happy customer. The old bulls head is a traditional country Pub / Diner very tastefully decorated with a roaring real log fire. Photos show its lovely and clean, it's very well presented and the tables are set to add a little elegance to your dining experience. A big thanks for looking after us during our visit guys... 🙂 (D)

We held our annual club gala meal at the Bull’s Head. Considering we were a big group service and attentiveness was 10/10. I particularly like to mention Tom, who was super friendly and helpful. Food was also very good.

I had a lovely time at the Old Bulls Head on Sunday evening. In particular, my northern waitress- Megan. She was so lovely and patient with my deaf grandpa, as well as making sure all our needs were met. She is a credit to the company!

New Lunchtime menu. Chef - Chris, Server - Alex, service attentive, food very good, new menu appears more limited for vegetarian choices but good overall.

Booked a table in the bar (dog friendly) for Sunday lunch. Really nice inside and we have been before but only for drinks. It was exceptionally busy when we arrived (2.45pm).. there was queue at the 'host station', but there was no host, so we waited for 10 minutes to get our table. Nice table in the window out of the way of the crowd.. we both ordered the beef roast. It looked nice when the waiter set it down but he was so quick to leave, we then had to find someone else for salt, pepper, mustard etc. Sadly, it was very poor.. it was 'tepid' at best, the beef very fatty, the yorkshire puddings were soggy, roast potatoes seemed to have been cooked for hours and we were served a very small portion of greens to share.. for £20 per head, this really should be each. It was almost impossible to catch a member of staff, it was so busy... and nobody came back to check how our meal was. we felt it was a case of "pack them in" at the expense of quality. The staff were clearly ran off their feet and under a lot of pressure. We left feeling deflated, disappointed and hungry...

Great Service today. It was incredibly busy but staff handled it well. No long waits and great food. We had the beef Sunday roasts which were cooked beautifully by Sam and Rebecca was absolutely charming.

Had a great roast with the family we were served by Will who helped us with allergies and very lovely chatting about Loughborough Uni. We’ll definitely be back!
