Been here a few times and always seem to regret it when the bill comes out. Working farm is a good atmosphere, nice food, OK staff, eye-wateringly expensive prices to the point you're better off going somewhere - ANYWHERE - else. Decided now won't be going back.

Been dropping here a few years now for brunch, what has happened? This time the welcome and service was terrible, the table we were seated at outside had dirty cutlery and serviettes strewn on the floor (this was a Friday circa 10:30 and only one other table of 4 in). One of us asked for a flat white, our head was snapped off with ‘We don’t do that”, another asked for scrambled or poached eggs rather than fried with the small breakfast “will have to see if the chef has time’!!!! The breakfast’s turned up and were nothing like what was described, chipolata sausages, beans that were over cooked, eggs overcooked.

My family and I were on our way to a festival and wanted a nice breakfast for the start of our journey. Car packed, we rang ahead and ordered so we could eat our food and hit the road. The drinks came out after twenty minutes, so we’d finished our drinks before and food had arrived. After an hour, our toast arrived, and then after an hour and 15 minutes our cooked breakfast to accompany the toast arrived. Burnt mushrooms and measly portions, I was pretty annoyed because my husband said the service was rubbish and I said ‘hey, they’ll have surely sorted it by now!’ And it made me look foolish because it hadn’t been sorted at all. Caused a family barney because we were all hangry. Not cool, not cool at all.

I visited Oakley Grange on an extremely hot date, so wanted everything to be perfect. Let me tell you, it was not. Firstly, there is very poor signage on the road. This caused me to have to dangerously swerve onto the lane, almost causing a crash and killing me and my (hot) date. Next we walked in and there was no-one to greet us. We had to wander around looking for a table and I was very worried my date thought I was a submissive idiot. A lady did eventually show up but she looked at us like we were trash, not like the golden god I wanted my date to perceive me as. She sat us down but made it clear that we were not to order anything other than drinks. At this point I was very worried my date would get hungry. I could feel her losing interest by the minute. Eventually the lady came and stood next to our table without saying anything. We took the initiative to order, but she didn't seem happy about it. After another hour the drinks came out. We were enjoying them until the lady slammed a bottle of table cleaner on our table and announced it was time for us to leave. While initially excited by the opportunity to protect my hot date like a man, this did also annoy me a bit. Overall it felt like they didn't want us there and couldn't wait for us to leave. To be honest I couldn't wait to leave either. 3/5 stars.

Came here today with my mum and 1 year old. We were looking for a table out of the way as I had the pram. We spotted one by a door and out of way to cause minimal disruption. One of the waitresses rudely said to me at the top of her voice that I couldn’t go there as I was blocking the fire exit. She then continued to say that it was their policy even though I hadn’t said anything and was trying to move the pram out of the doorway. Everyone was looking at me! I felt so small and very unwelcome. We decided to go upstairs but kept the pram in the corner downstairs. I completely understood that we were going to block the door but the ladies attitude was disgusting and for a first time mum wanting to take her mum and daughter out for some cake and tea it was inexcusable. I most certainly will not be visiting this establishment again!

Two positive points are that the overwhelmed staff were lovely and apologetic for the slow service, and the toast was really nice. Sadly the negatives outweigh the positives. We went for breakfast on a Sat morning and when we arrived there were 4 other small groups so the place wasn't busy. First we had to wait for 30 mins for 4 coffees and when they arrived the waiter didn't know which was cappuccino and which was latte but a little bit of staff training would have sorted that out. We ordered breakfast after starting the coffees but had to wait 1 1/2 hours for them to arrive which was a completely unacceptable wait. What compounded that is that the food was disappointing when compared to the prices being charged. I paid £12 for the full English which consisted of 2 chipolata sized sausages, a handful of cherry tomatoes, a disproportionate amount of fried mushrooms, 2 rashes of bacon and a tiny pot of beans. Oh and the lovely toast. It looked like something which should cost £7 or £8 rather than £12 even taking into account the organic origins of the meat. Our food also started to go cold as we also had to wait for cutlery as that was delivered separately after the food. The waitress apologised for the wait and explained that they were short of staff due to various part timers resuming uni studies, but judging from other recent and historic reviews, poor staff levels and slow service seem to be a regular occurrence as are complaints about poor VFM. Whilst we were waiting a couple heard us talking about the slow service and decided to leave. I don't think that any business can afford to have people walk out due to slow service and would have thought that a business that must have suffered during the covid lock downs would be going out of their way to provide a good service. If I were the owners I'd invest in some staff training to improve the basic service, get a chef who can multitask and cook more than one order at a time, and review your prices or at least the portion sizes to make them better VFM.

The service was unbearably lax, inefficient and slow, although the waiting staff were all pleasant. A simple "quick" lunch took three hours from start to finish, with 45 minute waiting times in between drinks, salad and cake, and catatonic levels of table attendance. We were briefly meeting up and had places to go! Every part of our order had to be chased up several times. We only ordered the salad of the day (we all ordered the same because we sensed the speed on offer), coffee, tea and one cake! A full banquet could honestly have been served quicker anywhere else. The lady behind the till seemed to be the manager, and clearly needed a barista, because coffee and tea were taking all her time. She was rather snappy and cross, telling us she was very busy and we needed to wait. We even stood in a queue for a full 15 minutes just to pay, because she was doing teas and coffees on her own and couldn't man the till as well. The meal itself was unremarkable and badly plated, the croutons in the salad were huge and so hard and crunchy you could only eat them with your hands, and if you had good strong teeth. The salad itself was just some green leaves. No dressing, no tomatoes, peppers, or anything other than lettuce. The goat's cheese was a melted blob of a pat, splurged in the middle of the leaves. We had all driven a very long way to meet up here, and all wish we hadn't bothered. Could so easily have been so much better.

Food is very good, only niggle was the lack of options on eggs. One of our party asked for poached eggs and this felt like a massive issue, in the end we had to compromise and agree to scrambled eggs. If it had not been for this it would have been 5 STARS!

I hate to be so negative but this establishment is just not able to provide the bare minimum of service. I couldn’t work out why it was so bad as there seemed to be enough staff and there certainly weren’t many customers - 9 at most. The coffee cafetière was the worst coffee I have ever been served - if I had to guess I would say it was weak instant coffee! I ordered a full breakfast at £11.95 - the waitress in error changed the order to a sandwich on the tablet she was adding the order to - she did apologise later. After letting her know it was wrong and after another 5-10 mins someone came back to advise there would be at least a 15 minute delay to get the correct breakfast order. I decided to go with toast instead as my husband was waiting to eat his breakfast roll. When he did start his breakfast roll he said the roll was significantly stale and then commented it was probably one of the worst breakfasts he had ever had. Service is incredibly slow and food quality is very poor. They need to go back to basics and start from scratch, otherwise they won’t have a business soon.

I repeatedly had to go inside to find a waitress to be told its table service, then waited another 10mins for someone to appear. Desserts were brought out but main course plates weren't cleared. We ordered a sandwich but when it came were told they were running short on filling so they've knocked £1 off. If we'd known we would have just ordered something else. The pasty was stale. The quiche was nice. Overall I wouldn't return which is a shame.

We used to come here quite often for breakfast pre Covid and decided to come again as it had always been nice. We’d booked a table beforehand but it took a while for anyone to notice us to show us to our table even though there was only one person being served at the till and we’d clearly been seen by other staff. Anyway while seated it took a while for anyone to take our drinks order, surprised they didn’t take this when we sat down. On first glance at the menu was how expensive it was now, £4.25 for a large cappuccino I think is madness - you wouldn’t even pay that for a Starbucks and it was nearly £3 for a single espresso. I wouldn’t have minded so much if the coffee was really good, in fact it tasted like hot milk. Obviously they have limited staff as we’re all dealing in troubling times so they don’t have as much on the menu - for breakfast they have a full english, vegetarian breakfast and eggy bread. I asked if I could have eggs on toast instead but due to the limited staff they couldn’t even though I thought this would be quicker?! The food took quite a while and it was ok, like the meat and eggs are fresh which I think is why we go back there even though the fruit salad the eggy bread was served with was brown, but the service is odd and long and the prices are crazy. £10.95 for eggy bread and £11.95 for a full English? I don’t really understand them and I felt quite robbed to be honest, like I never normally look at prices and understandably were going through a pandemic but this isn’t an excuse to cash in on it, it’s a good job I wasn’t vegan and wanted alternative milk otherwise I’d have had to pay £1 more so my coffee would have been £5.25 - how is that right?! For that reason I don’t think I’ll be back unfortunately.

Even longer wait for bottled rinks. Longer wait still for food. Food adequate but poor value. Will not be returning. Oh, and I forgot the access road which is very badly potholed. Don't expect super-smooth ytarmac but a few shovelfuls of gravel would help enormously.

This was my second visit in two weeks and both times the breakfast was delicious. The girl who served us was very friendly and looked after us well, waiting time was reasonable. The first time we sat outside, very comfortable and a lovely view. On the second visit we sat in the cow shed cafe, they had made a good effort post covid, plenty of space, also decorated with lights and plants. Drinks are a little pricey but I thought the food was good value for the money and excellent with fifty percent off deal. The drive up to the farm does have a few pot holes but not enough to cause a problem. Good country farm atmosphere.

I was very disappointed with my visit to Oakley Farm. 1) Seated in a cow shed which smelt and was very drafty/cold. Our table was right next to another with no distancing. Luckily no-one else was using that table during our visit. 2) We waited a long time to be served and the waitress was not very patient.3) The pasty I had was very poor quality with no flavour and the potato wedges were floppy and seemed re heated.4) The food was expensive for the quality. The pasty was £9.95. My families meal was also overpriced (veggie breakfast roll).5)On returning home (and checking receipt) I noticed I had been overcharged for 2 items that had been in a clearance bin (i.e i was charged full price). One was actually out of date and 2 other items my family bought were also out of date. This is wrong from a good health point of view never mind the over pricing.6) When I was in the shop I asked the member of staff serving about a couple of items for sale. Most of the items had no indication either on the product, or near them, to say how much they cost. The member of staff did check the price for me but appeared reluctant, cross and hassled like she couldn't be bothered to check.7) I would not recommend this place either for a meal or to use their shop. I have been in the past and had a better experience.8) Also the entry and exit 'road' is ridiculous. Very potholed and no where for two cars to pass.

I rarely write a bad review and believe it’s always better/fairer to speak up at the time instead of putting it all over the internet. My friend and had booked a table for 1.00pmWe arrived and after hanging around at the ‘wait here’ sign for five minute, we were shown to a table. It was in the cow shed, not the best place but to be honest they had made it quite nice with tables under canopies with fairy lights. We waited ten minutes for our drink order to be taken and when they eventually came our food order was taken. We had a quiche with salad and a chicken and three cheese pie with salad. Both were £9.95 each! A bit pricey but it was a very reduced menu with not a lot of price difference between different choice. Our food took 1hour and 5 minutes to arrive. We both asked for mayo, after five mins the waitress brought one tiny paper pot-full. We asked for another and salt and pepper. Again nearly 5 minutes later the Mayo arrived. She forgot the salt and pepper so another wait. The quiche and pie were very small and salad consisted of some leaves, two cherry toms, two slices of cucumber, two slithers of red pepper and two little rings of red onion. I’d say that’s a garnish, not a salad. I have to say the food was actually delicious but very poor value. We ordered a scone and cappachino each. Ten minutes later she brought the coffees and told us there were no scones. We ordered 2 slices of cake. Both of us had been there many times so knew that you get a lovely wedge of cake. Nope, not today. Each cake was muffin size for £3.95! It came nearly ten mins after our coffee which was now luke warm. The bill would have been nearly £40 but as it was eat out to help out it was £20When we went to pay I asked to speak to the owner (Inger) I said that I’d rather speak to her than write a bad review. She was immediately very offensive.I explained that I thought the service was poor and took far to long as we waited an hour and five minutes for our main. She said, very aggressively, that no meal takes an hour and a half to leave her kitchen. I clarified that I’d not said and hour and a half. She said the waitresses were going their fastest but they were really busy. My thought is that as booking is essential she knew how many covers she has for lunch so why not get another waitress in. The two girls were taking orders, serving and running the till for the shop they have. The owner then shouted at me that we were getting half price food anyway, as if that explained it all away.Half price eat out to help out means that customers can get 50%- up to £10- off their bill which she then claims back from the government. It doesn’t mean she should serve smaller portions of over priced food. I was expecting a nice lunch out, not a marathon wait with a side order of rudeness,I often go to Oakley Grange, as does my friend but neither of us will ever go again. Not just because of the service but mainly due to the owners rude, aggressive behaviour. She told me to email her if I had anything else to say. Well, she can read my thoughts right here.I look forward to see if she leaves a response.

It was from word-of-mouth reccomendation that we visited for Saturday lunch. I was told that the people who owned it were Danish, so was hoping for genuine Danish food and bread baked on the premises. The cafe is part of a mixed farm and most meat and vegetablles are farm produce. Another tick. However, the menu shattered the illusion. No Danish specialities, the saving grace was the home made bread. My companion had a chicken pie, nothing like a real pie, a segment more like a crust top-and-bottom fruit pie..I had a ploughmans, traditional but ruined by a very strong chutney. The waiting staff were odviously hopelessly inexperienced. They knew nothing about the menu,, had no idea about service (I was served ahead of my lady companion) and handled wine glasses by the bowl instead of the stem. A very casual, almost offensive attitude to guests did not help. Cost for two including wine by the glass £34.

We took a 20 minute diversion from the M1 to visit this cafe for a speedy early lunch. Their website said lunch started at 11.30 and there was an all day sandwich menu. We arrived at 11.38 to be informed no food apart from cakes until midday. I then asked for a toasted tea cake from the cakes blackboard to be told that was also not available until midday. I then asked if I could go to Deli and buy a sandwich to take out as website leads you to believe this is an option. I was told that although this would not normally be possible they would make a couple of sandwiches for us. We then waited 20 minutes for them to be made. The sandwiches were mediocre. Very heavy on bread but short on fillings. Also relatively expensive as we were charged menu price. Not worth a detour from the M1.

Poor value. Small portion of meat. Vegetables overcooked. Parsnips rock hard. Couldnt even bite into. Mint sauce was bowl of vinegar with half a leaf of mint. Replaced three times & had to scoop leaves out to use. Ordered food just after 1pm & it arrived at 2pm. Passed comments to waitress that meal was disappointing but no apology & told 'well you've eaten it' Definitely won't be returning.

I visited here last month with friends as was taken in by the farm venue. We took a seat, waited 20 minutes and no waitress came to take an order so we went to the till to order the cafe was busy and after waiting 55mins on our food it came(by this point we had already drank our teas and coffee)...the bacon was rock solid(not edible), the eggs were barely cooked and dripping in grease and the toast was cold and hard which was very disappointing. However I gave them the benefit of the doubt as it was busy and decided to give it another go again because I loved the farm venue. However even more disappointing second time round...ordered food again at the till and waited 45 mins before food arrived. I ordered the farmhouse breakfast without mushrooms and only egg white, what I received was eggs in which they had just cut out the yolk so looked more like greasy scrambled eggs, again rock hard bacon, plate was swimming in oil and there was a few mushrooms still on my plate so very clear that they had just scraped them off the plate before bringing it out. At this point I had to say something so advised the waitress I couldn’t eat this and would rather have my money back as it had actually put me off eating here. The manager then came over who was extremely rude and just said she was sorry but it is busy so not much she could do and that if I came down to the till with my receipt she would refund my breakfast. I then went down to the till where I stood for 5 mins being ignored by staff and the manager, I then had to say excuse me where the manager said you will need to give me a minute(seriously shocking customer service) after another few minutes she just said can I have your receipt and said what am I refunding? I said the farmhouse breakfast and she put it through handing my card back and turned round. I have never in my life been treated like that by any member of staff in an establishment like that before and I will definitely not be returning. Avoid this place unless you want to be extremely disappointed and frustrated. Also the food is extremely overpriced and disgusting.

Shambolic. Incredibly long waiting time, meagre portions, overpriced and bumbling staff. Only redeeming factor is the nice but slightly corny farmhouse atmosphere, but this can do little to rectify its flaws. If you want to wait 2 hours for a £6 cheese on toast, then step right up. If not, don’t waste your time and go to literally anywhere else for a better lunch.

A little bit away from a main road but well worth taking the diversion to enjoy a meal or just have a coffee stop. There is a farm shop attached to the cafe selling meat from the farm and eggs, bread and fruit.

It consisted of 2 pieces of cheese a pickled onion and celery , tomato and loads of lettuce no meat ..I had asked for ham which was extra and was inedible ...they did take the ham off the bill when I asked them to...as we left the couple on the next table just walked out saying we have waited too long and we are going home ...how they cope when busy is anyone's guess ....

We took some friends who were visiting us from Australia over to the Tapas evening last Friday night and it went really well, showcasing for them, another experience of the very best that Britain could offer. The restaurant offers a really good farmhouse type ambience, the service was really good and our friends were really taken with one of the staff (Evie?) and the food was absolutely sublime. I particularly enjoyed the gnocci and the chocolate dessert which disappeared so quickly I was asked if I had inhaled it. A really great evening and one I would recommend.

We went there today for a light lunch, the overall service was very, very slow and also has been before. Certainly don't go if time restrained. The Cheese Ploughmans I ordered was expensive at £9.95 for what you get, bread, cheese and a basic salad, no coleslaw, dressings etc . Shame as a farm cafe should be much better than that.Think the Management there needs to be more pro active and manage customer feedback on poor service and ensure quality is maintained.

The good sized car park provides free parking and there’s a nice sized area in which to sit, amongst beautiful gardens. We chose to sit outside, as we had dogs with us. Whilst I've visited on previous occassions I was extremely disappointed with our visit yesterday. After waiting 20 minutes for our order to be taken I signalled to two of the waitresses both of whom looked at me and both of whom chose to ignore me. Following this I got up and approached one of them and asked for coffee, she was so miserable and offered no apology for our wait. It took another 15 minutes for our coffee to arrive which was placed on the edge of the table rather than in front of us. Again waitress very miserable. Whilst I realise it was a Bank Holiday and could of been busy, at the time we arrived there were only two other couples. We were extremely disappointed with the slow service and attitude of the staff. It's such a shame that this is the service that seems to be the norm at Oakley, it's in a beautiful setting and the coffee is lovely. However not sure we will be returning or recommending to others.

Called in to this cafe on our bike ride today (cold March day) granted on Mother’s Day, we arrived pretty early so the place was pretty empty with plenty of seats available inside, we was asked to sit outside, which isn’t a massive problem as we don’t stop for long! The order was taken pretty quickly however it took over 30 min to get our order (coffee and cake) which in that time we was absolutely freezing outside, then to be served like warm coffee and what can only be described as a slither of rocky road cake would be an understatement!! My advice to other cyclists would be to carry on to find the next cafe available! Poor experience

Been here today. Absolutely stunning setting although it is a working farm and was a bit smelly outside so we sat inside. We ordered 2 teas and 2 breakfasts. The tea came quickly but we waited well over 40 minutes for our food to arrive. The toast did come first and we had eaten that before the breakfast. The toast was rock hard. The bacon was over cooked to the point that it crumbled when cut, the tomatoes were a mixture of over cooked and raw and the poached eggs were undercooked and ‘snotty’. I refuse to pay for food as it was enedible. Won’t bother with this place again even though it’s on our doorstep.

The only down side is that you have to wait an awfully long time for our food. My fiend and I both had Chicken Salad with bacon. That was really lovely but there was a short fall on the vegetables, we could have done more. We had a great amount of lettuce which didn’t balance with lack of vegetables.
