The Cordwainer in Northampton

we went for breakfast over the weekend and had worst expereince. we have been to wetherspoons in multiple other locations across the UK and this was one comes at the bottom. toasts missing in all our breakfast plates. when pointed out it was served with less butter. our cutlery came with cutting knife . then was replaced with unclean used cutlery. porridge was all dried out and stale. no amount of milk could save it. Person serving us was impatient and always trying to run away. when we pointed out these, he would not wait for us to complete what we were saying. 😡😤 I would definitely not recommend this place.

Kind of what you expect from a 'spoons. Catering food ingredients - but well cooked and presented here - what do you expect for such a low price. Staff really friendly and helpful, will use agin

We went for breakfast before work. My wife's food was ok but was missing toast, jam and butter when odrdering toast. My bacon looked like it had been chewed on before it reached my plate, when complained it was quickly replaced with new whole beacon. Hope next time it will be better.

Food had cold dry toast with missing items, replacements did not turn up after asking for them I guess as you have to pay before receiving they're not bothered about service or satisfaction

Pub at a walkable distance from the city centre. Spacious and well maintained. Staffs are friendly as well.

No frills British pub, get served early in the morning if you're an alcoholic. Get grunted at by staff, smiled at if you're lucky.

It is what it is. Beers reasonable price of course but full of the usual Spoons pissed from early doors clientele.

Rude blind idiot behind the bar. Clearly saw me standing at the bar waiting to be served and then he served 2 other customers before me. So I walked out and went across the path to a very nice warm and cosy pub and was served accordingly. Worst Wetherspoons so far. Get rid of that ignorant waste of space!

Despite asking for steak medium rare, it was cremated as was all the other meat on the plate, staff were very apologetic and got us a replacement meal quickly

The staff here are so rude. The guy with the ponytail bought our drinks over and slammed them down with such aggression that they splashed up at us. We went to the bar to ask for a drink as it took over 40 minutes to come and the staff at the bar were so passive aggressive and rude. Worst service i have ever received.

Visited today,in the morning approx 11am ,service was good,selected one of festival ales(8 on sale).Barman said have you tried the pink ale (adnams) and was amazed it was excellent. Was sitting near the bar but when it got busier used the app and service was quick. Also noted that the specials were on the app,even if you missed that option the standard prices for said offers were there(£2 off fish and chips) Only down point language near table 46 bit near the mark.

I was visiting the area for work and in the evening was happy to find a wetherspoons. It was a Wednesday night and very quiet, 1 member of staff was serving and there were 2 customers ahead of me who were ordering food. While I was waiting, I noticed 1 member of staff behind the bar who it seemed wasn't serving another member of staff on the ‘floor’ who had nothing to do. I waited at the bar for 10 minutes before leaving. There is nothing more annoying than watching staff doing absolutely nothing whilst you are waiting to be served.

Spacey pub, with beer garden and roof garden too. Very friendly staff

Brilliant place with outside seating, staff friendly.plenty of space ,food Mazing and reasonable price parking is not great .

A member of the bar staff was quite rude when he asked why I had not responded to his request to what I wanted .I explained that I'm partially deaf he never apologised.

Yeah, it's a Witherspoon's, the Premier Inn of pubs, so you know what you're going to get. It gets busy on match days so it's a great idea to order food and drinks off the app. If the weather is nice then I'd definitely recommend sitting outside on the roof terrace.

Pretty standard wetherspoons, not enough being done to stop begging happening in the beer garden from people walking in from town.

Would never have found thus had I not looked it up on line. Not your usual spot but where you'd expect to find a backstreet dive, which this is not.

Its wetherspoons no expectations but probably one of the better spoons I've been in. Just had a nice cold big breakfast, apple juice was nice though, service hmm served by the walking dead

We generally use weatherspoons while travelling the country..always great ..on arrival no eye contact from the bar staff ..talking between themselves ..when we got served ..if you like three quarters of a pint ..!!..and the eye roll when you ask for a top up ..one member of staff very pleasant and efficient ..wish we’d have got his name ..the doorman just grunts ..don’t think he knows how to smile ..we are closed in a stern manner..10 minutes before they close and repeating this every few minutes then sat by us at 1259 ..they close at 1 ..which we’d already been told as we asked !!..very intimidating ..we left on time..wouldn’t have dared spent a minute longer there !!..very poor service

Cheap and cheerful , what more could you want

I had dinner at The Cordwainer last Sunday around 6:30PM. It was busy but not heaving...the atmosphere was very chilled and relaxed. The food was really nice and the staff were friendly and welcoming. All in all it was a lovely evening...just what I needed after an extremely busy day at work!

Went to the Cordwainer this morning at 9 am for a breakfast with my daughter. Hardly anybody in there at that time of the morning. Ordered our food and got it within 15 minutes. I had a large, full English breakfast, and my daughter had a breakfast wrap. Refillable tea and orange juice were our choice of drinks. For just under £15 you can't complain.

Andre is a very attentive bar tender and has made me and my friends feel more then welcome on every visit. The cordwainer is definitely in my top 3 wetherspoons venues. Highly recommend a visit

Wouldn't know what the food was like, as half the menu unavailable - my friend who did actually manage to get some food ordered some chips which weren't cooked properly. How can you mess up chips?!?! Won't be returning here!

A decent Spoons with some of the best staff I've ever encountered. The great, fair-price beer you'd expect from Spoons, with decent food too, and wine that the wife loves. Lovely outdoor areas for the summer.

My husband and I decided to eat here after being in town on business, only one table available at lunchtime. Went up and ordered two steak meals to be told they only had one steak left at 11.45am? My husband had the mixed grill instead, when it arrived the mushrooms were missing from the steak meal. By the time I could grab someone and they arrived we had nearly finished our meal. Food was lukewarm and not once did anyone come over to ask us if our food was ok. We ordered pudding which after 30 minutes and asking twice where it was, finally came. The next day my husband was seriously ill with very bad vomiting and diarrhoea, never seen someone as sick as this before. He was extremely unwell with food poisoning, was a very frightening experience.

Stopped in for breakfast my partner had the traditional and I got the fiesta brush which was absolutely amazing, perfectly cooked and full of flavour

Perfectly happy with my visit. Staff were polite, asking if my food was okay, which it was. In my opinion, at it's price point, you cannot beat 'spoons.

We went there a few weeks ago, i waited patiently in the bar area until i was served and i saw a few people arrive around the bar area to be srved after me, a man serving behind the bar at the time ignored me and went straight to the guy who came after me and started serving him!! to add it was abundantly clear that he was a regular and that the server knew him, i pointed out that i was waiting first and the server claims he saw the man first but miraculously he claims to not have seen me, which is bizzar considering i was the only person at the bar to start of with before those he claim to have seen first!! We had heated exchanged of words and the customer guy who was served before me starts joining in!! I stood my ground and said what I needed to say!! and as my elder mum wanted a hot drink and was tired I stayed for her otherwise i would have left aftr that treatment, we had hot chocolate which was awful, it was very watered down with hardly any flavour, i wouldn't have minded had I not been treated so rudely to add on top of the watered down hot chocolate!! never again!

Ordered a Jalfrezei, they didn't have any, re ordered spicy Nachos, they had no Guacamole. Didn't bother telling us at the bar, had to wait until other persons food was delivered. Terrible service.

The food was great, the price was fair, and the services were awesome and timely, too. You pay for your meal and get served in a few minutes. Had a lovely time and enjoyed the chicken tikka masala I had there. Will recommend

Went for a drink quickly served by helpful staff. Plenty of good sitting area inside and out. Reasonably priced drink prices

The breakfast was disgusting pretty cooked bacon looked burnt wasn't hot at all whoever is the chef needs retraining to cook as a chef myself it wasn't fit for dogs sorry to say

Central spot for value food and drink

This was my first visit, it was a good experience. Will visit again when I'm in the area.

As Witherspoons go, the Cordwainer is up there. It was one of the best I have visited and I've visited a lot. Koppan, the young man upstairs who served me for food and drink, was an absolute credit to the pub. The chicken melt was very good, and the spicy shawarma had spice but lacked shawarma content. The terrace bar was fantastic, with the weather getting to 26° it was roasting. The outdoor area downstairs was blended into the indoor part of the pub seamlessly... Overall, it was a really nice pub that had the Witherspoons value for money with some really nice visual features that were relaxing and peaceful amongst the roof tops.

A conveniently located JD Wetherspoons fit for anything from late nights drinks to family-friendly evenings.

Ordered a mixed grill the piece of steak I was unable to cut rest of meat was black due to over cooked on looked like dirty griddle pan and food was not hot .would not go back.

We had no food just drinks bit slow serving only one barstaff but everything else was excellant

Busy, but no delays. Food and drink was okay and good value. One minor issue was a rare instead of medium steak. No problem with children and families, unlike Wetherspoons in Barry which i visited a few days later. Turfed out hungry at 8.20pm with no food or drink. They said no children after 8.30pm. Based on my second experience, i wont be visiting any Wetherspoons again, despite a good time at the Cordwainer in Northampton.

They do not let in elderly people without ID, who clearly look like adults

I realise it is too late to complain now, but ordered American Breakfast and coffee. Was waiting nearly 15 minutes for cups. American Breakfast arrived. 2 pancakes, maple syrup water, 1 rasher of bacon, 1 egg, 1 sausage, 1 hash brown. Thought nothing of it at the time, just thought it had been reduced in size to keep costs down. How wrong I was! Only half the correct amount of food on the plate! Crooks!

Poor to say the least!! 84th birthday and the food was not being served until 16.00 due to kitchen refurbishment. We had been drinking from 12.00 and expected food to be available. Due to the lack of food we fetched sausage rolls only to be told we couldn't eat them. Then we were faces with inarticulate staff that said the rules are the rules. And the faced with a perfectly civerlised response and argument told us to leave. Ignorant grunts running the place and people with limited understanding of situations making the rules. I will NOT be back!!

Lunch with the kids in the 🌞 food is no thrills bit cheap...get what you pay for...so can't complain

Good modern pub, glass walls on 2 sides and original building facade on 3rd side. Usual Wetherspoon value for food and exceptionally good prices on drinks. Gets very busy at lunchtime so go before 12:30 or after 2pm if you can. 30th Dec 2023: Still just as good, was extremely busy this time round.

Every time I order always never get enough cheese if anyone have problems with cheese please guys you know better than that’s you need more cheese on nachos

It's okay for a cheap drink but it's the only spoons where I have experienced inconsistency with the food. Literally had more chips with the burger where it said 329kcals than with the large fish and chips where it said there was 609kcals of chips, had a curry arrive literally frozen still and they microwaved the whole plate instead of just the curry when I said etc

My time at this branch didnt feel like a trip to your local spoons but felt more like an experience!!! All thanks to the wonderful waitress Sarah, she was a genuine joy to speak and her charm and wit made my day eveytime she came over to help me out, 100 out of 10 time thanks to them couldnt ask for a better person representing spoons!!! Only issues i had was that there was an older gentleman on the bar who kept on accidentaly exposing his bum crack!! Please if he happens to see this please buy a belt!! it was rather off putting but did not ruin my time there! An extra special thanks to Sarah again for being such a shining example of what good service is!!!

One of the worst Wetherspoons for food but great availability of real ales. No strong cider or scrumpy like Old Rosie available like in other Wetherspoons pubs.

Barman nice run raged, waitress do t k ow what she doing, food took ages to come and burnt sent back then food was cold and was not busy

Horrible service. Came for breakfast, everyone’s food came out and when bringing out the last plate they said they didn’t have what I ordered. I said I would take extras and make do of what they did have. I was then waiting for over 25 minutes for my plate when everyone had finished eating by this point. As I went to the bar to ask for a refund he handed me my plate, it had nothing on it from the meal that I had ordered. I still requested a refund as it wasn’t at all what I ordered and I had to wait for ages, and he asked me to stand and wait whilst holding my food… No manager came and I was standing for longer than 5 minutes, holding my plate? I went to sit down because I wasn’t going to stand like a pigeon. After everyone finished eating I went up to the bar when I was greater by a rude small boy with the turtleneck top, he was complaining as I didn’t stand and wait with my plate in hand for 20 minutes for his manager to come and give me a refund. He explained that someone had came and spoke to me, which didn’t happen at all, he claimed that the manager had spoken to me but he did no such thing. After waiting a further 5/10 minutes for the manager to come over. I was greeted with nothing but attitude, lack of understanding for the lack of communication and service for me as a customer. The problem was only the fact that it took so long as well as the lack of what I ordered and the response I had gotten was beyond rude and disrespectful as a customer. I also didn’t get my refund because he didn’t ask my details and gave it to the wrong person. Won’t waste my time coming here again. Very disappointing.

Fantastic value for money, food was ok. What was really good was the service could not fault it. Also get the App before you visit it make ordering so much easier

If you are going to Cordwainer Northampton for breakfast I wouldn't bother. Went today and the breakfast was cold lots of people were sending it back. My mates grandson got hash browns that were still frozen in the middle. Yeah it might be cheap for drinks but the food is a lot to be desired

Went here for lunch with friends,varied menu,resonable prices for food and drinks,bar staff were a little slow but overall good experience.

We ate here a few times over the last weekend as we were staying nearby. Food was always good, served in a courteous and timely manner. All at a great price. We will be back.

Just had a morning coffee staff friendly and good service.

Had a double burger and chip's I found a nasty piece of some sort of grease proof paper in the last bite . I told the waiter who took my plate away and did not receive any comeback from him. This morning I been on the toilet most of the time. Thanks, weatherspoons .

This place is exactly what you pay for. If you need to just have some hot food in the middle of your day out shopping, or just want a couple of drinks with your friends, and if you don't care about the quality as long as it's cheap, then this place works. Should you want food that isn't bland and lacking, then this is not the place for you as I'm quite sure the vast majority of the menu is premade/preheated and the issue with that is that it's obvious. The service is okay, nothing too special. No one greets you at the door or anything but when using the app to order the staff are just okay. Ordering from the bar is not good, the service is slow and they seemingly have minimal staff on shift for how busy it can get. In addition, the staff in general look absolutely miserable, every single one of them, and I hope that they are being treated better behind closed doors than their faces let on. Overall, not the worst Weatherspoons but really just horribly average.

Absolutely appalled by the supposed manager Gary. After travelling all day we popped in for food to be treated like complete scum. Gary who said he was the manager treated my children as though they where something he'd just trodden in. A hideous creature of a man he was. Other than him all other staff where really friendly and very helpful. Gary let's the whole place down

Don't really eat in here anymore from previous experience on numerous occasions there was always something wrong with the food,come here for the stella it's cheaper than other places and it's friendly.

The steak is delicious, had it twice and it is seasoned beautifully. Staff are friendly and helpful. However, the experience was ruined by a 'homeless' man walking around asking people for money and when people said no, told them to go to a cash machine. He asked us twice and nearly caused us to leave the restaurant all together. Understandably, the staff said they'd kicked him out twice but he kept coming back in.

Visited the Wetherspoons today after previously visiting yesterday. The food was delicious and the service really friendly. Unfortunately it was ruined a bit by a guy asking people for money and then telling them to go to a cash machine to get some for him. We asked the staff and they said they’d already thrown him out twice. So not really the places fault but worth noting.

It's a weatherspoons pub. Food is good value, but not gourmet. Drinks are cheap, but creeping up in price. All in all OK

This pub is a disgrace. Went with family 6 people. I asked for plain char grilled chicken. It came with some sort of crusted topping, I think they gave me a herb crusted topping. It was so hard I couldn't cut into it, I had to pull the chicken apart to get to the chicken underneath. Another person had a chicken burger he took 1 bite, he said the chicken was rubbery. So I complained to a waitress, who said "as he had eaten half his meal that she could not give him a full refund", I pointed out that the burger was so small, that 1 bite does not represent having eaten half his meal, they eventually agreed to refund half the price. His partner had the same meal, she ended up having diarrhoea all night. It was my first and last experience in this pub.

Good for a cheap drink. That's all.... Toilets don't get cleaned, half as much as they should be. Food I wouldn't touch. As it was 1st and last time I ate here, the burgers... was very cheap meat, the bun was hard. The salad was brown and off, and the chips were not cooked. And it was cold. A chimp could cook better and could tell what's off and what's good. Then There cooks.

Called in for lunch after visiting from Cardiff, before returning to Cardiff. Enjoyable meal,and friendly staff, would definitely call in again if I ever returned to the area, Peter and Susan Jenkins From Cardiff.

Quick service, reasonable prices

On entery to this weatherspoons clean tidy seating good range qe ordered our normal breakfast than we have at our weatherspoons im Wellingborough Food arrived in normal time as well waitress delivered the plates very well and very polite told where to find sauce and whatever else we may need and with that she headed back to the kitchen on the I was so pleased to she she cleared tables on the way back as I've never seen this happen at Wellingborough before I stopped her to say well done as it dont happen at Wellingborough all I see is customers having to clear there own tables as me and my wife have always having to do this in Wellingborough But this place who ever dose the training well done to you and all the staff who do this should be rolled out as a given from head office. Food was really nice hashbrowns cooked to perfection 👌 well done all G&D
