The Cordwainer in Northampton

If you are going to Cordwainer Northampton for breakfast I wouldn't bother. Went today and the breakfast was cold lots of people were sending it back. My mates grandson got hash browns that were still frozen in the middle. Yeah it might be cheap for drinks but the food is a lot to be desired

This pub is a disgrace. Went with family 6 people. I asked for plain char grilled chicken. It came with some sort of crusted topping, I think they gave me a herb crusted topping. It was so hard I couldn't cut into it, I had to pull the chicken apart to get to the chicken underneath. Another person had a chicken burger he took 1 bite, he said the chicken was rubbery. So I complained to a waitress, who said "as he had eaten half his meal that she could not give him a full refund", I pointed out that the burger was so small, that 1 bite does not represent having eaten half his meal, they eventually agreed to refund half the price. His partner had the same meal, she ended up having diarrhoea all night. It was my first and last experience in this pub.

On entery to this weatherspoons clean tidy seating good range qe ordered our normal breakfast than we have at our weatherspoons im Wellingborough Food arrived in normal time as well waitress delivered the plates very well and very polite told where to find sauce and whatever else we may need and with that she headed back to the kitchen on the I was so pleased to she she cleared tables on the way back as I've never seen this happen at Wellingborough before I stopped her to say well done as it dont happen at Wellingborough all I see is customers having to clear there own tables as me and my wife have always having to do this in Wellingborough But this place who ever dose the training well done to you and all the staff who do this should be rolled out as a given from head office. Food was really nice hashbrowns cooked to perfection 👌 well done all G&D

Pretty standard Wetherspoons. Decent priced food, OK pub, no complaints.

Staff were polite and friendly. Quick service. Can only give it 3 because the toilets were dreadful. Really stunk and hand dryer was missing.

I saw management dealing with a problem with a food order and I thought the way both the mangers dealt with it was incredible. It's not an easy industry to work in and with more mangers like that maybe youngsters will want to carry on working in hospitality. Hats off to the guys on shift today x

Great beer prices and you can chat without loud music. It's really popular on Friday,Saturdays.

The food choice and price here is really good for the price, there is nothing fancy but food is enjoyable. There is a huge choice of alcoholic drinks ranging from the usual lager and wines to ales and cocktails. There are also various mocktails, soft drinks and various teas and coffees. As is usual with Wetherspoons it lacks a bit of atmosphere. Overall a nice place.

Great crumble fantastic service.

A great pub with very quick service. However, when me and my friend went out to smoke, we were not allowed back in to get our bags and coats to leave because the pub was closing in 20 minutes. The door staff were physically blocking us from getting our bags despite us saying that we had literally just gone outside to smoke. I had to call my friend to bring my things down to the entrance. He did not realise that my hotel key had fallen out my bag. If I'd been allowed to check under the table, i wouldn't have had to pay for a new hotel key.

Excellent pint of fosters, good price and friendly atmosphere. Enjoyable.

the food was nice but they didnt have any jackets in stock i ordered a raspberry lemonade drink and it was made incorrectly

Breakfast was very disappointing.

Cheap beer which is good but food very poor. Ordered triple American cheese burger which was tiny at 3 inches in diameter and burgers even smaller & very dry. Received 12 chips. My partner's Beyond burger same. This is a marked difference from a double burger 6 months ago which was larger with more chips. I don't mind cheap food but the quality and quantity has declined. both male & female toilets disgusting, smelly and wet. Not enough staff as usual. Avoid.

Good prices good beer ok food what more do you need

Absolutely awful breakfast. Cold overcooked eggs anemic bacon to the point of inedible. Just a horrible experience compared to other Wetherspoons I've eaten in. Would I come back, definitely not.

Good modern pub, glass walls on 2 sides and original building facade on 3rd side. Usual Wetherspoon value for food and exceptionally good prices on drinks. Gets very busy at lunchtime so go before 12:30 or after 2pm if you can. 30th Dec 2023: Still just as good, was extremely busy this time round.

Up for the footie , friendly wetherspoons pub, nice balcony area upstairs, would be great in summer. Staff polite and friendly. Would come again

Lacks enough staff at the bar food comes out cold

Absoloute dump, staff are incredibly rude and surprisingly selective about who they have inside. Rude, poor service and will definitely not be coming back again.

Full of very drunk people at 5pm! One meal came out wrong took ages for them to bring out the correct meal by which time my partner had finished their meal staff didn't seem to careless! Ladies toilets dirty and stank of stale pee disgusting!

Lovely place to eat and it's cheap

I ordered the Christmas special burger with cheese and maple glazed bacon, when checking the burger the salad on it was old ( and if I'm being honest it was hardly worth the effort ) and there was no bacon. I mentioned to a member of staff the bacon was missing and he kindly offered to get me some; which he did....stone cold ( must have come straight out of the fridge) needless to say I didn't eat it.

Weatherspoons Looking dated and tired already

I have never been in such a terrible place ! People literally eating mayo off their hands and licking the sauce bottles! The ladies toilets were a disgrace they stunk like a fish market ! Everyone one going in was commenting on the state of the loo! On my first visit to the toilets I informed a member of staff about the stench my next visit to the toilet was just as bad! Sort the loo’s sort the patrons it was shocking ! To anyone attending DO NOT USE ANY BOTTLE SAUCES ! We did inform staff about this particluar man to be informed he is a regular !! Be AWARE

Not liked at all dirty food cold no atmosphere

I guess you get what you pay for. Really cheap drinks. Really cheap food, but totally inadequate standard of food. The last three times we have sent the food back due to poor quality, not fresh and stone cold. Only for them to bring out a "fresh meal" for it to be the same food and still cold. Cannot fault the front of house staff, the kitchen staff however is a different matter. This venue is best for cheap drinks. If you want food, best go to McDonalds. It's run by students, caters for students, says a lot.

as far as spoons go the cordy slaps pretty hard, which is weird because its in Northampton. ive been to some pretty abysmal spoons tho ngl.

I was in a group having breakfast last Sunday - each having different meals My vegetarian breakfast contained at least two uncooked items and the rest being mostly inedible. A friend had a bacon sandwich that "tasted of petrol" while another's was described as "minging". The tea was nice. It is fair to say we shall not be breakfasting here again.

I work away a lot and quite often end up in a wetherspoons, pub. Unfortunately my experience at this one was not the best .ordered the American triple stack burger and it was probably the the worst I have ever eaten .the food was so cold it was emediately returned and the replacement wasn't much better .I don't expect gourmet quality food but at least hot would be good .

Spacious pub with all the usual quality of Witherspoon's. What stands out is the choice of real ales. 12 in all, with every style catered for.

As I travel extensively with work I always look for wetherspoons for my first meal away from home, as always, I don't expect anything special something vaguely warm and a nice cold pint. After visiting this pub the pint was fine because you can't really go wrong with a cold San Miguel, but the food on the other hand was a terrible disappointment everything was cold ,colder than the beer.!! Large mixed grill ,chips Bearley cooked peas just thawed and onion rings that cold that my tongue became frost bitten.!! It's a real shame because the meat was very tender which I can only put down to be rested for 2 days (also cold).worst one to date. No real point complaining because normal excuses follow. So if you can,go somewhere else. You may pay more but at least they might care. Happy travels.

Ordered breakfast, and it was cold when it arrived.

The people went to the Cordwainer weatherspoon. They people order food breakfast . But the staff was very slowy bring food look for the table number. They keep saying, "Wait, wait too long, wait ." Beaskfast was not nice 😕 bean was cold bacon not cooking 😒. 😒 is not nice Beaskfast

Waited 30 minutes for food , when my friend went to the bar a different barman possibly manager was really rude. So we decided to get a refund and go

What a lovely place to be the staff are so friendly and polite ..can't fault them and my friend and myself ordered food .. he had fish and chips with peas .and he recommended this meal as the best he's had in a long while ..and my chicken strips were good too. ..well done to the chef and staff ..keep up the good work we will be back..

Great standard of cleanliness. Nice staff, clean and spacious dining area. The toilets were spotless too. I always recommend using the app for you orders for ease and time saving.

Worse breakfast I've ever had plate and food were cold I've always recommended whetherspoons for a great breakfast but this was disgusting

I when in here for lunch to day and when I got food it was frozen cold I did send back the replace with piping hot food which was good. I’m not sure why the food was not piping hot in the first place when the place is not that busy. Staff did not apologise.

Usual Spoons fare, quick service using their app, outside and inside seating. Down a side street from the main town.

My friend and I both popped in for a quick bite to eat before we went to a show. The service was excellent, the beer was great, the food quality was good enough, but the portion was very small. In defence of the place, though... you get what you pay for. A meal and a decent pint for less than a tenner. Can't knock that! 👍

Dreadful service and food. Don't expect much from Wetherspoons as you pay for what you get but I do at least expect to receive what I ordered and that it is hot. Ordered an Ultimate burger and American cheeseburger. My friend's Ultimate burger arrived as expected although not very warm and did not have any cheese or bacon (as listed on the menu). Had to chase my American cheeseburger after a 10-15 mins wait. When it arrived the burger and chips were cold plus no cheese. Sent it back but just got the same plate back with a slice of plastic cheese added but even colder. Had a couple of chips and a bite of the burger but it was so bad I left it. The worst meal I have had in years

Really good service but the coffee machine was broken, good location and clean.

It's been almost 4 years since we had been in UK, this pub used to be a our favourite place for great quality and value for money drinks and food. And I'm so happy to see that it's still one the best places for service, quality and value for money. We had a pint and a glass of wine, and surprisingly that cost less than the price of 2 coffees somewhere else in town. Highly recommend this place for traditional English pub visit.

Was hanging out, chilling out of the heat for a bit in there. Had a Pink Lemonade drink. The place was very busy. But still got a table in the garden section easy enough.

Cheap & cheerful. The outdoor seating area is better since the refurbishment, however they got rid of the dance floor. Food could be better.

Lots of choices not available on the menu. Came with a friend who ended up eating alone cos she had already ordered and there was nothing available of the 5 options I tried ordering. No good reason given either, Saturday night and nothing in stock. Depressing.

Miserable pub and a miserable off hand manager. Both times I've visited kitchen not working, so no food. Place is a dump. Won't be back and I've spent a lot of money in various Wetherspoons over the years. Avoid

Nice Wetherspoons with a small garden at the rear and a second floor with balcony.

The lady who delivered our drinks, she was lovely and sorted us out with an ordering mistake. She went above and beyond! Breakfast was great as per usual!

Absolutely appalled by a member of staff whom I later found out is management!!! By the name of Mia. She speaks to staff disgracefully, shouting and even swearing at them!! This is not professional and no way should management be speaking to staff in this way. Poor staff, feel very sorry for them!!

So good old cordys, my date didnt show up because he ended up in a hospital on the way to see me haha don't worry he is alive! But I've enjoyed some g&t with a friend instead and lovely atmosphere of guys asking me out, so... never let down by you guys to save the day! Will be coming back for sure, maybe for that date that didnt happen as well haha

Husband went to order steak special night. Bar attendant asked ‘anything else with that?’ Husband thinking she meant side orders said ‘no Thankyou’ so she charged full price and walked away. When questioned about the drinks included in price she said she’d asked ‘anything else with that’ and because he said no Thankyou that meant no. She was not going to give in until I and another lady who’d had a similar problem kicked up a fuss. To make matters really worse husband’s steak was inedible. Husband complained about that & male bar attendant said he’d ‘tell them’. We waited half an hour with the plates still at the table and nobody came to check. Wish I’d thought to take photos. Really really poor service. Won’t go back.

Large, modern Wetherspoon. Spacious, light and open. Large bars on ground and first floors. Open air seating on first floor balcony. Usual dependable food and drinks on offer. Huge selection of real ales!

Would have scored a 5 if the heavily advertised manager special was on! Sea fury is a fitting beer name seeing Bob Cribbages reaction.

Love going here for good value coffee!
