Love this locals pub. Reasonable prices and excellent entertainment at weekends.

Shame they allow crowds of people to sit blocking the door, making it a very uninviting place to enter

What a welcome! Apprehensively, walking in on my own, I was made so welcome by the lady behind the bar. I was working in the area and called in to get a coffee and to use their ‘facilities’. Thank you so much to The Crown for your kindness towards me. If I lived nearer, I’d be a regular!!!

First time there. Went to take part in a quiz night, which is held every Tuesday. Enjoyed the evening. Friendly. Comfortable apart from being a tad cold as I sat near the door to the outside smoking area. Immaculate toilets. Big car park. Large outside area with tables.

Working away was made very welcome from the start by the landlady. The regulars are very friendly and good humoured. Food is very good. As someone who works away from home, we need more pubs like this.

The landlady has given back a village pub it so deserves. Very traditional. Pub has all the pub sport teams pool, skittles and darts. She caters and sponsors local adult and childrens football teams. Traditional meat raffle every sunday lunch time. Regular entertainment at weekend. Seasonal raffles xmas/ easter. She works closely with local macmillan fund raisers and recently held a James Bond themed casino night with canapes bucks fizz on arrival, entertainment and photographer. Always supporting a good cause. A true village pub for locals and visitors. All sports games shown too

Managed to catch this place open, but wish I had not of bothered. Rudest bar maid I have ever encountered! Felt like I was not welcome and an inconvenience to her day.

Has times for opening but appears to open only when the Landlord can be bothered. This is now the sixth time ive tried to use this Pub at lunchtime. Despite its opening time of 12pm it's been closed.

I was told that this place had improved since I last went here but unfortunately this isn't the case. The service was disappointing and the choice even worse. Travelled 20 miles to go back there. Shan't make that mistake again

I have visited this place for the last year, and the newi(ish) landlady has transformed it. It is now everything a local pub should be. I cant comment on the food because i go there as a drinker. However, the landlady is one of the best i have ever encountered. She creates the right atmosphere of friendly banter, and nothing is too much trouble for her. LONG LIVE LOCALS LIKE THIS ONE.

No food yet but a good place for a drink

Yet another tenant has taken over the Crown. The previous couple only lasted about 12 months. The new ones have dropped doing food, but a third party company are renting the kitchen on Sundays and providing traditional roast dinner. I have not tried one yet. The new Landlady seems pleasant enough and looks like she won't take any nonsense. She told me that Sharps Doombar is going to be the regular house beer and she twill have one other guest beer. The guest ales seem to stay on for several days at a time and Timothy Taylor Landlord keeps coming round, which isn't a bad thing. Previous Tenants have had this beer, but the pint I had today is probably the best I have tasted in the Crown over the years! The pub is now trying to focus on being s family pub. Dogs continue to be welcome. The Crown does have a nice large garden at the back. Better than the Sun, the other pub in the village. The pub had a bit of a makeover soon after the new tenants took over. I hope they will be successful, because it would be good to see the Crown survive and to have some stability. It doesn't have the range of real ales or offer daily food like the Sun, but it does have much lower real ale prices, a nice garden, especially good on those warm days and it does look like the new families welcome is starting to make a positive difference. Give the new look Crown a try.

Went to the pub for a wake after our mother suddenly passed away. We booked part of the pub for said wake. Paid for landlord to put on some finger foods. Landlord was rude, Moody, slamming doors and swearing at other guests. Made us all feel very uncomfortable. Everyone noticed the attitude Will def not be returning again. If your a group I would advise to stay away. Landlady apparently only been working there 6 weeks. Not happy with the service.

Husband and I called in for Sunday lunch. We had a choice of : loin of pork, half a roast chicken or beef. I had the beef, husband had the chicken. The meat came out on steak plates, with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and gravy. We shared a bowl of veg which consisted of fresh carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, garden peas and sugar snap peas. All cooked to perfection. The staff are lovely, nothing is too much trouble. Food and drink prices are very reasonable. The pub itself, is extremely clean, welcoming with a mixture of modern and vintage decor. It works really well. Won't hesitate to return.

Después de comer en el Crown varias veces en los últimos meses puedo dejar un comentario honesto, de la comida y el servicio. La comida es preparada fresca porción tamaños son perfectas a mis hijos les encanta la pizza y los postres caseros. Es hermoso asadas los precios son muy razonables. Siempre nos saludaba con una sonrisa. Anunciado como familiar, este no parece así cuando visite. La comida era muy grasienta. En más de una ocasión que no tenían comida, que era indicada en sus menús y que era sólo la orden hicieron saber después. El servicio no fue con una sonrisa. Espero que mejoren

I took my two daughters in for lunch On a Saturday (18 & 2) they had a very good choice of food on the menu at reasonable price, we chose the tomato an basil soup this was amazing and home made served with warm bread! We then had the homemade steak pie for mains Again this was lovely My 2 year old had a child's fish fingers and chips with beans, After her dinner she wanted to play with the box of toys in the dining room, so this was good at least it kept her happy Over all a very nice family friendly pub that served fantastic food! Will defo return with rest of the family to

La Corona tiene Steve y Joanne como es nuevo inquilinos después de los anteriores eran de breve duración, que no fue ninguna sorpresa. We held our Business Birthday Bash here, the team were so helpful and even donated prizes for our charity auction. The garden is a really good size and we certainly made the most of it - highly recommended

We went on a Friday evening as reviews had been good and the web site menu and images looked promising. However, when we tried to order food we were told,that they were running the menu down; no steaks, no burgers, no gammon and just one Hunter's Chicken left. So, we had the one Hunter's Chicken and a fish and chips. The fish was ok, but certainly not cod as thin and not flaky, it had the taste and texture of Vietnamese River cobbler. I don't have a problem with it, just would,appreciate being told. Perhaps we were just unlucky, but maybe if the menu is being run down it should be mentioned on the web site to allow people to think twice before visiting for a meal.

Had a steak, cooked to how I like it, very nice steak and friendly atmosphere , mix of locals and new customers makes for relaxing atmosphere.

We took my parents for a meal to the Crown for mums birthday meal. I was able to take her cake in prior to taking my parents there . The meal was super and hot , presentation was great , atmosphere was welcoming . The staff were very friendly and professional and the locals were very friendly .

Went for a meal here at the weekend, was welcomed by very friendly bar staff, the bar itself was relatively busy with a good mixture of clientele.We ordered our food, but after a few minutes the bar man came back and stated that the starters we ordered were not available, then a female member of staff announced to the bar man that she was taking all the starters off I found this very unprofessional, so instead of three starters we ended up with two prawn cocktails which were ok, but nothing to write home about! We then ordered our mains and I must be honest I am very fussy with my steaks but ordered a blue steak and was somewhat amazed that they agreed to do it, we ordered another steak and a hunters chicken, the mains duly arrived and the steaks were cooked to perfection, the hunters chicken was a bit strange as it stated chicken escalope but turned up as chicken goujons, but saying that it apparently tasted good, the only real negative was that the mains were all served on cold plates, something the staff and the other customers also commented this as well, but I would recommend the food in this restaurant it's good quality food and good service.

I guess we walked in the Public Bar. I'm of an age when all pubs had separate bars and by their very nature public bars were a bit basic. This however takes it to the limit. Large mainly empty space. I asked for an orange juice and what draught beer they had. Answer. None, pumps were not working. The barman then stood and just looked at me. I was brought up in a village in Essex with very little entertainment apart from four pubs. I like pubs, I like to support them so I brought a Fosters and we sat in the garden. Both of us agreed it was a weird set up.Do they want customers? Is it heaving on a Saturday night ? Drank up and left, placing our glasses on the counter, nothing. We then noticed a door marked Resturant. If it's as welcoming and basic as the public bar then maybe bring your own sandwiches.

Went for lunch today. We were advised that there was no beef or chicken which made for a very limited menu. When it got to deserts, they had only a choice of 3 of the 6 options. I had a latte and was served it with an out of date biscuit!The bill was incorrect (they tried to overcharge us)! Very disappointed and won't be going again.

Visited this afternoon for lunch. Was quiet but was welcomed by friendly staff and were great to talk to. Food was lovely, filled us up, so can't complain. We will be returning here again in the near future.

I feel really saddened about writing a negative review as this Pub/Restaurant has so much potential.Positives:Staff welcoming and Friendly. Clean and comfortable atmosphere. Good menu choice. Nice Pinot. Chicken Tikka was nice.I would rather call the following constructive feedback from someone who has worked in the catering industry for 25 years:If the Chef has forgot to cook side dishes, tell the customer do not say just coming. We waited 10 + mins for steak sauces to arrive by this time our food was cold.Please learn the different cuts of steak - every experienced chef knows Sirloin has the fat running across the top of the meat, Ribeye has the fat running through the middle of the meat, will attach images so you can see the difference. We ordered 2 Sirloin Steaks, were given Ribeye (not very good quality either) and when I questioned the cut of steak was told it was definitely Sirloin.If you want good quality meat, I suggest the Butchers at Booker Cash and Carry you can buy whole Ribeye, Striploin, Fillet and Rump at reasonable prices and in 25 years I have never had an issue. If the meat was from there I would complain.Appearance of staff could be improved, if you want to encourage dining clientele make sure your staff are dressed smartly in a shirt and trousers. A superman T-shirt and jeans gives a poor impression.Talk to your customers if they have waited a long time for food, the table behind us waited over an hour for their mains. They had to keep asking where it was. They should have been approached first and offered a drink for their patience, this would have diffused the situation.I would also like to highlight there were 3 tables of 3 and 1 table of 2 in the restaurant, that's 11 covers, if your kitchen staff can not cope with this small amount of orders I suggest some further training or someone with more experience needs to be in the kitchen.I really hope this restaurant can make a go of things it could be such a goldmine.If they would like any help please get in touch.

We had a birthday meal at the Crown last night.Brilliant food and such a friendly pub.Even the locals joined in Happy Birthday.A perfect local pub for a get together.Food was well cooked and tasted delicious,good portions too.Would not hesitate a return trip.Thank you bar staff for being so helpful.

We decided to give this pub a go yesterday (Sunday 31/01/16) as we were out and about. It looked nice and quaint from the outside and it was just as quaint inside. not a massive pub, the public area had the locals enjoying themselves and we were in the restaurant part. There was an open fire which made the ambiance so much cosier. We had a nice drink, quite a good stocked bar considering it is quite bijou. We decided to have a look at the menu, and it was a refreshing change not to see a carvery menu. With all the pubs and beefeaters and the like around nearby, that all have 'the same menu' not to have a carvery was nice. I ordered a spinach and chickpea masala, my husband and our friend ordered rump steaks. The masala was very tasty, and a good portion to boot, the steaks were apparently 'just like mum use to do', fried not grilled, and for the record, the chips are the best we have had. We finished with a coffee and teas. The price and the whole experience was fantastic and we recommend this pub to all.

The Crown in Hardingstone has recently had a wonderful family whom happen to be locals themselves, take over and have started to make sensitive changes. A couple of the most notable are they have made the front look more attractive adding statement flower decorations softening the huge stone buildings kerb appeal,. The Food menu has a great variety of traditional food offers and appeals to the palette of all age ranges including a children's menu and a wonderful dessert menu with its own signature dish called " The Crown Jewel" I had heard about how great the Steaks were so this is what I ordered having a Perfectly cooked Ribeye with Sweet Potato Chips - Delicious! The Service is attentive and appropriately carried out making if feel natural and not robotic - The family are a credit to the Business and I look forward to visiting again.

I visited the Crown on a Monday evening quite late and the chef was happy to prepare a meal for me. The food was very nice and good value for money. The staff are all very friendly. I have visited the Crown a second time for a drink and felt very welcomed by the staff and the local patrons. I would highly recommend this pub as a place for a family meal or a place to have a quiet drink with friends. All in all the Crown is what a pub really should be.

The Crown recently had new owners, popped in for a meal on a Friday evening. We received a friendly welcome and the food was very good. Will definitely visit again.

This pub needs to get more on the map locally for the food served. Quite a small menu but enough variety,the lounge area is plain but comfortable. We have had several meals there and also Sunday lunch,the meals are freshly cooked and delicious, the staff are always helpful and friendly. several locals use the lounge/restaurant area to drink. Once the word gets round or the Crown advertise more the restaurant will soon fill up.
