Amazing service from Angel today for lunch with my hubbie. Food good quality and beautiful pub...will be back!

Unfortnately food not great. The chicken breast was so overcooked i only had one bite. The rest of my party really enjoyed there meal

We met up with a large party of friends. Bar staff were on point, keeping everyone supplied. My dish was delightful, my husbands a bit dry. From yhr outside you wouldn't know there is a beautiful setting right by the river with outdoor seating

Amazing place came with family ,very welcoming staff. Chap named Sam went above and beyond looking after my family and making sure we had a wonderful family experience

4 of us went here for a meal at lunchtime. 3 of us had lamb shank shepherds pie & 1 burger meal. Absolutely gorgeous! Left a lovely taste in the mouth. The young lady & gent who served us were very polite and helpful. What a lovely place all round x

Excellent food and service from Logan.

Logan was fantastic and couldn’t be more attentive! It’s a shame the food let it down on this visit! Chips were oven chips that were tasteless and not worthwhile, fully left them as part of my meal.

I recently visited The Britannia in Northampton after hearing about their refurbishment, and honestly, it exceeded my expectations. The place has a cozy, traditional vibe with a fresh, updated feel. Inside, it's warm and welcoming – lots of wood, leather chairs, and even a fireplace. It really feels like a riverside English cottage. The outdoor garden overlooking the River Nene is beautiful and I can imagine it being packed in the summer. Even now, it was a great place to relax with a drink. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. The food was tasty – classic British pub dishes with a bit of a twist. Prices are slightly above average, but totally fair considering the atmosphere and quality. Big plus: it’s family-friendly, dog-friendly (with designated areas), there’s on-site parking, and free Wi-Fi. You can tell a lot of thought went into the redesign, and it really paid off. I’ll definitely be coming back – this is the kind of place that makes you feel like staying a bit longer.

This used to be a great place to come eat. The surroundings are still great. However I have no idea how they can make the food so bad. Generic frozen food heated up (just). The chef needs to give up I’m afraid. Still a good place to come for a drink especially outside.

Absolutely amazing food and was so accommodating with meal changes/upgrades etc! Sam is an asset to the Britannia and is such a fun and upbeat personality! He made our time here so worth it! 10/10 recommend.

So slow serving. No staff. Staff miserable because they are over worked.the chicken was overcooked to teeth breaking and the chips undercooked. Awful. *To add to the reply: I tried. The staff were non-existent (only to bring out food) the bar staff overwhelmed and I did not want to queue with my complaint.

Beautiful beer garden by the river. Lovely place for us to have a drink after I pick my husband up from work.

There's only one word: excellent. From what we heard from customers a lot of staff had walked out, leaving some young employees to run the place themselves and they did an astounding job. Firstly, Sam, our waiter went above and beyond to make the night memorable. Honestly can't sing his praises enough it was my sisters birthday and he had clearly read the booking as he said happy birthday to her straight away and just made the night for her. Then there was Mo the bartender, equally friendly and totally calm when he was alone serving drinks for entire establishment. They should both be commended, promoted and given a raise. I have emailed and asked for details on how to send some form of thanks. Will be returning.

Just popped in for lunch and to check menu for a visit later this year. The staff were great, that’s Clayton & Sam, and the food was very good.

It’s a really nice pub and I think has undergone refurbishment since my last visit. I came to spend a gift voucher I had been bought for my birthday. Had a pint and a main course of fish and chips with mushy peas, sat in the bar area. (I had waited a a few minutes in the restaurant hoping to be greeted and seated there but there was nobody about). The barman was friendly and helpful. Food took around 20 minutes to arrive and it was naff - heated up frozen food, poor value considering the £17 asking price. I am frustrated to be leaving an average review - the food here was, once, excellent. This meal was a real disappointment. It’s a shame because it’s a nice pub to spend time in.

Firstly Mo the waiter was excellent , polite, jovial and gave great personal service. Slight issue with the fact it took 2 reminders to 2 other members of staff to bring over some water for one of our party. Had to chase up our sweet order and finally had to chase up the bill. Apart from that generally very good and will certainly will be back. Thanks to Mo.

Really nice place with terrace next to river. Plenty of seating inside and plenty outside, but on weekends have to book in advance. Free parking, but have to register otherwise will get penalty. Food was nice, we really enjoyed. Recommend

Sunday dinner was average vegetables not cooked or pings in Blankets. Very disappointed , had to ask for cutlery sat waiting for 5 mins then decided to get up and take from another.

We went for lunch over the Easter bank holiday weekend and were served by Sam and Mo. Both servers were lovely and smiley and attentive and the food was great. Sam added extra gravy to my order without me having to ask, going that extra mile to make it more enjoyable

I have very mixed feelings about my visit on 23/3. I was part of a party of 8 with 2 children included, and we all had 2-3 course meals. First of all, our starters came out cold and the soup was just tasteless and awful. The lady serving us, however, was absolutely brilliant and my starter was remade and served hot and the others were taken off the bill. The main courses were all ok (one wasn't a great cut of meat - very fatty) and the desserts were great. The staff seemed friendly and were kind about my toddler getting in the way a little and wanting to explore. So, after a shaky start, I left feeling like the experience was good overall. However, I have just received a £100 parking fine, which I'm so upset about, and I am worried the other members of our party will be receiving the same. Having now looked on Google maps, I can see I completely missed the sign at the car park entrance, but it's not typical to look for charging notices when parking in a pub's own car park. What upsets me, though, is that there was no signage when entering the pub and nothing that I saw inside (despite wandering around a lot with my toddler), and that the staff don't mention registering your car's details. Why would you want your customers to be caught out by this money-making scheme, only to then be put off returning after being fined despite being a paying customer? It wouldn't take much to put a big sign in the entrance and to check that your customers are actually aware.

Crispy squid was undercooked and not seasoned, somehow bitter. Pork terrine underseasoned and did not come with what the menu stated. Crispy pork was overcooked and tiny portion for the price of nearly £20 Shepherd's Pie came with raw cabbage and very little mashed potato on top, which had a "smash" consistency. Canalside beer garden lovely, staff are friendly and helpful.

I had misgivings about visiting this place again at lunchtime, but thought hey ho, it might have improved. How wrong was I ! My friend and I ordered cheese on toast or something similar. Toast needed a sledge hammer. Had to take care not to get a broken tooth. Cheese was almost non existent, a few fries and a bit of salad. I gave some of the toast to my dog - I don’t know why - she had done nothing wrong. Anyway suffice to say will not be visiting again. Awful. Empty food

Food was great but we waited over 30 minutes for plates to be cleared and then another 20 minutes once we had asked for the bill. We then ended up going to the bar to pay instead as it was like our table was being completely ignored by the staff.

Sam was absolutely brilliant and made the night worth it. The food was somewhat below par, but your server, Sam went out of his way to ensure we remain happy. You do need to sort the food out though. The gammon was a strip of burnt leather!
