I often visit this pub but after this evening I am so disappointed . I have a dairy allergy so ordered the side salad from the menu which is stated to be vegan to ensure that no dairy was in the food. Upon receiving my salad there was a small pot on the side which had some kind of dip in it . After inspection ,myself and other people on my table came to the conclusion that this unknown dip contained dairy . I called over a member of staff to ask about the dip and she said “well it’s not vegan “ and then she walked away . EXCUSE ME ?!! It states on the menu that this is vegan . If it’s not vegan then it should not be stated as vegan as so many people die because of allergies !! It’s 2024 this really needs to be sorted out immediately as this is not acceptable.

Update aug 24 - went last night at approx 1945 for a drink and experienced the worst customer service ever, the guy in the photo served people who came after us and then had the audacity to argue the point with me, he then made a comment to the other barman who chose to be funny with us too. To top it off the Stella was off and tasted terrible, we got them changed but even they were bad. Will be avoiding this place as the customer service is terrible and the Stella not right. Also people singing loudly in there - what a shambles of a place.

Very rude member of staff who is very unprofessional. Shes got black hair glasses and big eyebrows. Found her very unwelcoming the past 2 times ive came.

Toilets are disgusting. My husband vgas a stoma he trys to join but 9 time out if te the Toilets upstairs are out so it only leaves the 1 disabled downstairs which everyone uses as no one checks really bad xx

One of the nicest Wetherspoons pubs in the area, with lots of tables to sit at. The service is always really quick and efficient, and the prices aren’t bad either!

Nice pub ..Great atmosphere friendly staff ...food not so good Ordered at bar ..sat down 10 seconds later food put on table ..burger cold ..took away 15 minutes later still no replacement ..called waitress arrived 5 mins later burger cold on the outside but red hot in the middle ..waitress said used thermometer and at temp. Probably was in the middle ...won't eat here again unfortunately 😕

Very spacious Spoon provides some small rooms and also a beer garden. Very good beers and much to choose. Cheap prices.

If you still have a little of self respect, don't get any food from here. Horrible, cold, frozen, testless, clearly old and questionables ingredients.. Especially breakfast!! Stay well away. After some good months, I decided to have a breakfast in town centre and as I was at the Cathedral Quarter, went to the spoons. The only thing I could eat was the egg, everything else was binned. I have learned my lesson. Food here, never ever again. (A drink is still doable when the place is not full of teethless idiots).

Nice pint of San Miguel here for £3.99. Beer garden very nice. The only downside is the bar service, even though it wasn't too busy at the bar, took a while to get served.

Had a great time. Beer was good and cheaper enough. Went it in the garden was a fun time.

Breakfast DO NOT BUY We both opted for a small traditional breakfast with extra black pudding. It was awful. The food had obviously been left under a heat lamp or hot plate maybe microwaved. The food was not fresh and possibly precooked and heated. Everything about it was dry and hard. Especially the blackpudding it was like a hard disc and I’m sure I could have skimmed it across the room and watch it bounce. I also had to ask for a cleaner cup the one I was first offered had numerous rings around the top. We wont be having breakfast here again thats for sure

A great pub for Derby, atmosphere is great food is nice and its right in heart of city centre. The area is surrounded but lots of other good places and food at this place is great. Very well priced. They have also got open cabins where you can sit and chat.

We were in Derby for my granddaughters graduation and called in the standing order for food which was delicious and drinks . I was pleasantly surprised to find Crackendale a Thornbridge beer which I had never had before but will be hoping to find again . The staff are really friendly and hard working , unlike at some Spoons as soon as a table is vacated it's cleaned for the next customer .

Ask a member of staff to clean table he said to me to busy the table was full of glasses and plates of old food terrible customer service.

Great Wetherspoons pub, use to be a bank years ago, the style of this magnificent building has been nicely preserved. Beer excellent, I drink real ale. Tried food here and that’s good too. Price’s brilliant as you’d expect from Wetherspoons. Cleanliness good including the toilets. Staff nice, well recommended 👍

As ever the staff leave trolleys full of dirty plates and stinking food waste in the pub right next to tables where customers have to see and smell them. Who decided this was a good idea

The reason why it is called the standing order I found out as you are always standing and as well the staff are not knowledgeable in their ales and or products.

It's spoons like it's gonna be decent

We went for breakfast yesterday we waited a long time when it arrived it was absolutely dire the bacon well all fat it was nearly cold and we thought they'd counted the beans plus the drinks were nearly cold then you couldn't find anyone to speak too at the time NEVER again.

Typical place in Derby. A very large and beautiful pub inside. Recommendable. Lots of variety of beers

Cheap and nice place to go with friends, went around lunchtime Friday, bar was pretty busy three women trying to keep up, the young lady (brown ponytail) that served us had to deal with a few negative comments from customers about the speed of service but she stayed happy and speedy and served us quick, managers could definitely do with getting more staff poor girls were all very rushed and flustered, definitely would come again

Went in at lunch time expecting we wouldn't get a seat. But the place is huge! We found a table, placed our order at the bar and were presented with our food will within 10 minutes. The food was delicious and this place is great 👍. I'm going back with the Family on my Birthday 🥰.

It's a wetherspoons. And we visited on a Saturday lunchtime. Good value food. Noisy. Didn't even bother trying to get served at the bar. Thank heavens for the app.

This has really got to be the nicest wetherspoons I've ever been to the refurbishment of the building is outstanding!! Great service good food all at a very cost effective price as all wetherspoons are but this place is the best with an amazing beer garden at the rear with plenty of room to boot. Definitely worth going to if you're in Derby it is more than worth the visit as I say the decor to maintain the heratige in the building is outstanding to say the first time I entered I was actually very shocked at how nice it was 👍

Great selection of beers, really friendly service & a really nice environment to enjoy a pint or even a night out, the place has benefited from an extensive refurbishment and has made the world of difference. Definitely recommend.

Waited 10 minutes for some one to be on the as there were staff moving around but couldn't get there attention the to my surprise somebody came and I said are serving and said yes so I ordered my drinks and then someone who looked like the manager and and I said I been waiting 10 minutes for services and replied to my surprise shockingly it's not my problem.i said I wouldn't run a bar like this and his response was did I want his job said not really I came in for a drink not a interview and I said I wouldn't run a bar like this shocking I wasn't looking for this response more like a explanation.

Quick bite to eat after attending Derby Cathedral.

Brilliant bar staff were super friendly. Especially Sophie who was brilliant. Cheap drinks and food that were all very good.

The only thing that lets the place down are the toilets. And I don't mean the mountain expedition to get there.

A very nice and unique pub setting in an older building, which used to be Nat West Bank. The usual menu is available and loads of booths for a quieter and less intrusive hideout. Lovely breakfast as usual.

The service in the standing order in Derby is shocking, no table sevice, the bar staff totally unaware of who is next to be served. Waited 10 minutes for first drink not even busy, gave up on ordering food I might as well be invisible not a very good experience at all.

The standing order is a great pub / restaurant that is located in the heart of the city of derby & it's building has a very grande interior , that was once a bank many years ago & it has been very tastefully renovated & modernised very sympathetically to retain it's many architectural features , such as the beautiful ornate plasterwork & wood panelling & the like , there are also some antique portraits of it's former owners & some local industrial pioneers , plus some artwork features that pay homage to Derby's very own lady of the lamp Florence nightingale all are tastefully displayed throughout the premises . The standing order is a pleasure to visit & offers quality food & drinks at reasonable cost , & although sometimes busy I have always received my order with minimum waiting times & I must say that the quality of the steak dinners are particularly good value , especially with the options to add on a drink of your choice included in the cost & upon my visit the steak was cooked medium as I ordered & perfect to my liking , so much so I did thank the chef personally . This wetherspoon pub really is a great place to eat & drink in comfortable surroundings , & always a pleasure to visit , & it's grande interior is truly amazing , plus Wetherspoon's prices are reasonable , so you can eat & drink in the city without breaking the bank ! . WELL WORTH A VISIT ! .

Very sloooow service, alot of staff seem to be doing anything but wanting to serve you????, Also you tend to get ignored, or they serve someone who has just turned up, rather than those who have been waiting several minutes, Alot of people have begum fed up and left, the app service seems to be the favourite and fastest choice of service.

Went here on the Sunday night for drinks and cocktails good atmosphere and cheap drinks as always at wetherspoons. Service was average and a lot easier to get a drink by ordering in the app than at the bar. We then returned for breakfast the next day served quickly and the food arrived promptly but was barely warm. If it had of been hotter would of been a great breakfast but cold fried egg is just awful

Very busy place, bustling through out the building, meals are good and reasonable prices, coffee is where you pay for a mug and then you can refill for free, good variety of drinks, it's a lovely architectural building inside formally a bank.

Dirty outlet with lazy couldn't care less staff.

Saturday night and the place was busy, but the staff made sure everything went smoothly and speedy. Greet choice of ales at fantastic prices.

Always busy it seems, no matter the time of day, old men drinking in there from like 6am, crazy. Food is okay, it's not the Ritz so don't expect anything too amazing. The prices are cheap though. The building its in is an old bank and its quite fabulous. Some right bokkers in there at times but it is what it is. Doesn't detract from the good food and drink.

Food is really quality cold and not worth the money , knives and forks thrown at us (literally), service was awful and definitely not worth the money. Absolute joke. And we’re still waiting for our drinks

Very large place with usual tap beers and real ales available. Nice looking building with an enormous high ceilings. Guinness was very good. Staff were friendly and polite. Very busy place. Enjoyed my visit.

Only went in for a drink before heading home, drinks were cheaper than I was expecting which was nice. Not many people in but it was Sunday evening. One barmaid just walked straight past us and then served someone else so had to wait for someone to serve us. But it ok.

Recently refurbished, so it's impressive on the inside. A good selection of beers at very good prices. Popular so service can be a little slow so would recommend trying the app as most of the time this works fine. Only three stars for service as it's a mixed bag. On a previous visit the guy who served us was warm and friendly and gave excellent service and yet on this visit the young girl was rude to my wife for simply asking a question. More often than not it's fine. Would still recommend

The staff were friendly and efficient, there's always a friendly atmosphere in wetherspoons pubs. The only thing that let it down was the beans on my breakfast were not very hot.

We have been in Derby several times in the last few weeks for work and have often come here because the price, performance and ambience are really good

This pub is finished . This Spoons used to be brilliant. Service was always slowish but still a good pub. Now, you cant get served at the bar and I had to install the app to get drinks. These took 25 minutes to come in a not busy place. Two drinks, 25 minutes. People come in and walk out without being served.

Cheap and simple Used the app to order so we didn't have to leave the table It was ok if you want some cheap drinks Cheap drinks means lots of drunks, I especially love the women shouting at the top of their lungs for no apparent reason.

On this day there was a very limited menu and so I couldn't get the food I wanted but the food I had was cooked well. Every time I go in though, I just wish there was music. Overall though, the perfect place to catch up with friends and have plenty of conversation without having to raise your voice.

Basically a standard pub like everywhere else. Tasty food and pleasant prices. Great choice of beer and cider. Very nice building both inside and outside, interesting to read the history of the city. Very many different memorable stories throughout the restaurant. One of which I will attach below for example.

Nice pint of Guinness. Quick service at the bar and next drinks and food ordered via the app. I've eaten here before, but was disappointed with my burger meal this time. It was served very quickly but looked and tasted bland. No salad.

Went for breakfast yesterday. Ordered 2 American breakfasts for us both. Mine came with no Bacon at all, took 5 minutes to get a waitress to come over, she took plate away & when returned had some rashers on which were STONE COLD - but she had already walked off. Used to come for breakfast but will NOT be visiting again. Extremely Disappointed ☹️☹️☹️

Beautiful building. Good atmosphere but shame about the meal. So tiny it didn't even fit the plate. Sad really. Chicken meat was pink. To me that's off putting.

I know it's a busy Saturday evening, but still waiting for food for an hour. Simple order of a pizza and chips. Went to check at the bar and told to check with another section. They can't help because I ordered at the bar. Other than that it's a busy time. Also have watched employees step over or step on a menu on the floor, no less than 10 times. Lazy workers also unhelpful. Just went to the area where the food comes out. Nice person checked on it and said it must've been delivered to the wrong tale and they can redo the order. Will be out in 10 minutes. Menu still there stepped over, around and on by staff.

Such a shame that this beautiful building houses one of, if not the worst pubs in Derby City Centre. Honestly shocking.

It's a witherspoon you know what to expect

Great food and drinks at a reasonable price. Friendly staff and large seating areas. We went after another pub nearby and the bar bill was half the price. The food was great which included a drink which is great value for money. The Standing Order is a JD Wetherspoon pub located at 28-32 Iron Gate, Derby, DE1 3GL. It offers a variety of real ales, craft beers, and freshly ground Lavazza coffee. The pub serves breakfast until noon and the full food menu is available until 11 pm. This venue, which was once the Crompton & Evans Union Bank and later a NatWest branch, has a rich history and now provides a welcoming atmosphere for its patrons.

No real atmosphere and if drinks weren't bargain prices would probably be empty. I know that's their business model but it's not for me, prefer some music and a sound of laughter and enjoyment.

One of the most outstanding pubs/ restaurants that Spoons have developed. Beautiful interior. Multi types of seating areas. Didn't visit the loos, but as per usual they're upstairs, except disabled loo ofcourse. Exceptional value, one of the best pints of real ale I've had, price, fractionally over £2.00. For a change of venue, try the famous live music pub around the corner, namely The Flower Pot.

Lovely venue, massive compared to others we've been in, the food was fairly standard for spoons prompt hot but never exciting. Service was slow when the pub was quiet, 6 staff at least but only 1 serving, but quick service when it was busy,
