Hobby Horse in Charnwood

Bizarre post but certainly worth my time. We broke down on the way to Warwick Castle and managed to limp the car to The Hobby Horse car park. We were made so welcome. The car was fine to be left how it was (across the electric charge bays) until the AA arrived, we were given the OK to eat our pre-prepared picnic in the bar after ordering a drink at the bar and was even offered to hold onto our car keys while waiting for the tow company (special mention Gary!) Eventually made it Warwick half a day behind schedule but arrived stress free due to the kindness and generosity. Thanks again

We went today febuary the 14th for lunch I placed my order and then went to use my bluelight card only to be told I couldn’t use it as it was Valentine’s Day and there for the company had decided it couldn’t be used today as it was a special day I’m sure like me and meny others it was just a normal Friday … I did happen to mention this to who I think was the deputy manager ( sorry I didn’t get your name ) who said he was sorry but out his hand 🙁but anyway our food was very nice and it was piping hot … after we had eaten the person I spoke to came up and said do you like chocolate cake and gave me a takeaway saying he was so sorry we couldn’t use the card such a nice thought … THANK YOU 😊😊… plus all the staff seemed very friendly even the manager

Went in for Sunday carvery with a big family party (10 of us). Really busy but staff were really helpful without exception despite being extremely busy. Really pleased with the experience and cannot find fault with any of the staff. If I was asked for a criticism I would say the play area could be expanded a bit to provide more entertainment for kids (eg soft play rather than coin machines).

Went for the carvery & it’s never disappointed us Always beautifully cooked & a good choice of vegetables. It’s SO good! Mash & roast potatoes always perfect!

The waiting time just to order drinks was long.. and then even longer to order food. And ridiculously long to order coffees afterward. The food was good, carvery excellent. Just the system for ordering and lack of staff behind the bar was awful.

The perfect start to Christmas with a family meal for 11 of us. Perfect venue, company, food and drink. Staff were wonderful, especially Jake and the lady waitress who served us who both treated us as if we were the only guests there. 10/10!! Excellent breakfast with Santa this morning. Really good value at only £10 each. The Santa was great. The pub was beautifully decorated.

Carvery Sunday lunch with 4 adults, a 4 year old and a baby...could have been tricky. It was lovely. The children were entertained, there was a bit of a wait for the carvery but that's to be expected and the service at the bar was frankly - exceptional. I asked the name of our server because her attention to detail (on 2 occasions) was second to none. Thank you Georgia!

Kept getting emails about cake & carvery for £10 so thought I'd give this a go. My hubby & I went at 6pm on Thur 23rd Oct and the only meats were gammon and beef. As a Hindu I don't eat beef (understand that's not the pubs fault) but by 6pm the poultry was already finished...no extra chicken/turkey cooked?! I wasn't even offered extra gammon or pigs in blankets!! I had to settle for more veg, but there were scraps of cauliflower and broccoli left in the pots...did they run out of boiled veg too!! Just not acceptable. When ordering/paying we had to choose our cakes, so looking at the opulent display I fancied carrot cake, only to be told there's only brownies, choc fudge or millionaires! What's the point of having variety on display, sharing offers/deals to potential customers only for them to look forward to a meal but with limited stock! Not a very nice experience and if you cannot maintain food levels do not bribe people in with offers.

Great location, clean, pleasant atmosphere, hot food, nice staff. Very nice place to eat at for Roast Dinners and the breakfasts.

Had 2 carvery’s as per never had one as bad meat was lovely yorky pud was bad tough old same as roast pots boiled potato all veg was overcooked by a long way will not be back again

It used to be one of my favourite places in Leicester to eat out with my toddler on Sundays. Everything was great, maybe apart from some minor issues understandable in such a busy pub. However all those minor faults were escalating until today, when we had to wait over an hour for food, which for the end was served just lukewarm. If it wasn't for a sake of very hungry toddler, everything would be returned to the kitchen. Definitely didn't enjoy that experience and I think it was our last visit for a while

Good prices and good carvery food. Generous with either gammon, beef or turkey. Kids eat free on school holidays. Very busy and the staff were very kind n helpful

Had a lovely evening here with my brother for a birthday treat, was served by Jack, he was very efficient and has great customer service skills.

Ordered a vegetarian option of cheese and potato pie, waited 30 mins before queuing up for another 15 minutes.and when I got there the pie wasn’t ready. I’d finished my dinner and they still hadn’t brought the pie out so I basically had a plate of vegetables. We won’t be coming back again.

It's was crazy busy when we turned up (table of 6) we got told it would be 2 hours wait. We understood and went to wait in the bar area. This is when we met David, he is a credit to your business. He's so funny professional and the attention to detail was immaculate. We ended up getting a table in 15 minutes instead of the 2 hours and when we went back up to get desserts we met David again and just the pleasantness and decency of him to ask how our mill was. Our day was was amazing.

I regularly visit for breakfast at 8am on weekdays, excellent service, free wifi and unlimited free coffee refills. Staff always welcoming and friendly. New rapid electric car chargers due soon too, so even more reason to visit.

The service was brilliant, and great value for money. The experience was made better by Ashton at the bar who was amazing!

Lovely visit to the hobby horse. Me and my partner came for a carvery late Sunday evening and the lady manager on the door I believe as she was in normal clothes was very helpful with letting us know that there was only beef left so we opted for main menu and it was delicious! will certainly be visiting again!

Amazing service as always. Staff friendly, helpful and go above and beyond. Would advise ordering from carvery or menu. Don’t forget dessert!

Excellent value for money. It is also busy there but that speaks for its self. Bar and restaurant staff are great. Unlimited coffee a bonus

Be Mindful when the waitress drops the drinks on the way past with them landing on you and your hair, leaving you a little wet and sticky!! Expect nothing other than a serviette and be left to it….. Not even an acknowledgment from management or a check in from staff to see if you or your food are ok? On your next visit I suggest you look forward to and expect to receive nothing less than absolute zero service, as this is what is on offer!! Nb: Food was just ok!!

Some say that we can all be designers of insightful moments that deliver pride, elevation and connection … and that’s what we found this afternoon at Hobby Horse Farm. Bravo!

We go to this restaurant every Sunday for the carvery and it is always brilliant. The staff are always friendly and efficient. For the last few weeks, we've had the lovely Leanne looking after us at our table. The chef carving the meat is always friendly, efficient and courteous no matter how busy or how long the queue is.

Went for breakfast with friends on Saturday morning. Sat at an unreserved table as there were other tables which had reservations. Just finishing our breakfast and the manager comes over and asks to move because we were sitting at a table which was reserved for a party of 12. The dad of one of the party of 12 thanked us for moving when we finished our breakfast but the arrogance of the manager was untoward! Local pub which I won't be using again

Visited here quite a few times but this time the service was by far the best by Clare who was very attentive and had a great sense a humour (I think it was anyway lol) After a horrible reception at The Willow we decided to stick to what we know and went hobby horse. It my Nana’s birthday and Clare made she we were looked after and had everything we need - my Nana really enjoyed the afternoon there so thank you Clare ☺️ the vibes and atmosphere was so lovely and welcoming with the buzz of people and music playing. Just had 2 take out meals. Both meals had ingredients missing and were stone cold. Description was 2 chicken breasts in each meal but were more like the size of 2 thighs, handful of chips and the pot of salad was just lettuce and onion. Not worth the money,

We were one of the first people to be served on Friday lunch 12 o’clock we arrived earlier had a drink and noticed that the Yorkshire puddings were on the hot plate at 11.20am. Wished I’d of gone with my instinct and not had the carving. It was stone cold at 12 the meat was cold cauliflower cheese cold potatoes cold gravy lukewarm. So I thought I’d mention to the waitress didn’t see one not one person came over cleared our plates asked if we were ok nothing , pots / crockery was everywhere totally overwhelmed by the 20 or so people who turned up. No temperatures are obviously taken or the hot plate doesn’t work. Something is definitely wrong you may be serving a lot of people but serving cold food is not acceptable- we were not the only people saying this and the table next to us mentioned it to a waitress and her response was ok !!!will definitely not be going back
