Went to this Subway in Worksop a few weeks ago, the staff member made my sandwich WITHOUT ANY HYGIENE gloves on. When I asked him about that he was blazay about his lack of hygiene, I sent a complaint to Subways customer service and they were even more blazay, also didn’t bother to reply for two weeks, I had to prompt them for a reply Disgusting service and behaviour. Literally no respect for their customers, DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!!!!

Has anyone else had issues with this pub when arriving without a booking, or was it just our family? We went there one Saturday about 7 pm after bowling to have a meal. It wasn’t planned, but when we sat down and looked at the menus, no one mentioned anything to us. However, when we went to order the food, the lady at the counter, who was quite rude, told us that they don’t serve food unless you have a booking. There was no explanation given, even though many tables were empty and none of them had visible reservation signs. We left and ended up at another pub, where we were welcomed without any booking.

Not that impressed tbf. Celebrating birthday but service was poor. 45 minute wait for main course and 40 minutes wait for pudding, not acceptable, when I spoke with staff member blamed it on staff shortages and other parties, woefully poor excuse, will not attend again for food, very poor..

After seeing this establishment featured on Four in a Bed, I had high expectations. The show portrayed it as a charming, standout venue, but my visit on 19/04/2025 told a very different story. In hindsight, I should’ve paid more attention to the recent reviews — they were far more accurate than the TV portrayal. As a respected food critic, I visited with genuine excitement to experience what was advertised. While the younger front-of-house staff were lovely and did their best to accommodate guests, the positives, unfortunately, ended there. The dining experience quickly turned into a disaster. Orders were mixed up around the restaurant, and the food that did arrive was extremely underwhelming — both in quality and quantity. The prices were shockingly high considering the portion sizes and lack of flavour. Waiting over an hour for my food would have been acceptable if the meal had been worth the wait, but what I received seemed far from freshly prepared. Cold dishes, lacklustre presentation, and minimal effort defined the meal. The only remotely enjoyable part was the sauce — and even that tasted shop-bought. As for dessert — a supposed apple crumble — it was almost laughable. A dry, uninspired mess that even my 9-year-old daughter could outdo with ease. The atmosphere in the restaurant was flat. Other diners seemed equally unimpressed, and staff were visibly overwhelmed. I witnessed guests being ignored by multiple staff members as they tried to get assistance — I even ended up helping another table myself. Constant apologies were being handed out, clearly a common theme that evening. The biggest disappointment, however, came from the so-called “Heads of Front of House.” When a group of guests tried to raise their concerns, they were met with hostility and blatant denial. Voices were raised to the point that the entire restaurant could hear the confrontation, and it became clear that the General Manager had no intention of stepping in — reportedly refusing to leave the kitchen. It was unprofessional and, frankly, embarrassing. Guests were left feeling uncomfortable, even intimidated, as the situation unfolded. There’s a serious disconnect between the image this restaurant portrays and the reality diners face. The younger staff show potential and care, but it’s clear they’re being let down by poor management, inconsistent kitchen standards, and an overall lack of leadership. Until significant changes are made, I couldn’t in good faith recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a hearty, well-executed pub meal.

This was not a very impressive visit. Very understaffed, took ages to be served at the bar and even longer for the food to arrive. Food had obviously been sitting under the warming light. Food was average/poor. Change of management not impressive. Won’t be returning any time soon.

10 of us booked in here for a late Sunday lunch, it was the first time for all of us and I've got to say it was excellent, we were lucky with the weather so had a few drinks in there lovely garden after doing a walk, then went in for food which again was excellent, all 10 of us thoroughly enjoyed what we had, the staff/service was top notch, first class, right from booking the table a few weeks earlier, We all said we'd like to go back there again when we go to the peak district next time and would all recommend it

I came here on Friday night with my partner for the first time and we weren’t disappointed. The Fox is a lovely old pub with a great atmosphere and attentive staff. I ordered the crab and lobster fish cakes and my partner had the venison burger. Both really delicious and very filling. We were sad we didn’t have room for dessert! Thanks so much. We’ll definitely be back.
