The World's End in Wellingborough

We arrived at 1pm as a family of 6, the pub was not busy and our order was taken quickly, however, we then had a long wait for our food with 4 of us being served but 2 of us having to wait an extra 10 minutes for the food to arrive. Overall the food was good apart from the undercooked chips. The roast dinner was very nice. We then ordered dessert and had to wait another 30 minutes for them to arrive. The manager did keep coming and telling us our food was coming but the service was very slow.

After discovering this gem we have now made it our favourite place to come. The food is always excellent 👌 hats off to the chef. Plenty of choice with friendly attentive staff. Highly recommended They do accommodation to but we live fairly local.

We arrived early and waited in the bar area for a drink. Promptly called to our table at 6pm. Ordering was done quickly. Food brought to us quickly. Looked appetising. Sadly my lamb shank was stone cold in the middle. I was offered a replacement but had lost my appetite. My friend’s meal was without issue. Staff were apologetic but I cannot blame them as they didn’t cook it. I was given a free drink but sadly the experience did spoil my evening.

Lovely food lovely bar service did not get his name but had a American accent.sych a lovely place the only thing was that when we entered thru the main entrance was not greeted with an hello or anything shame really

Very disappointed. Stayed overnight due to event locally. The room given was not clean specifically with dust along the headboard and the kettle. We had a disabled access room (although not required as no disabilities), this was found to have the pull cords wrapped up in the bathroom & the alarm system was turned off. The disability rails in the bathroom were dirty. The shaver socket was also cracked and didn't look safe to use. After a shower, the wet room didn't drain leaving a few inches of water in the whole room. There was also no shower curtain installed (there was a sign advising to use the shower curtain). The food was ok, although seemed minimal and basic. Poached eggs were over cooked unfortunately. For the price paid for a double room including breakfast (£145) was not worth it. Would not stay here again and wouldn't recommend.

Never been to this restaurant before and it was recommended to us. So we decided to visit there with the family for a celebration, wow what a disappointment, over price meals and certainly not value for money. The food was average, very small portions we all had chips with our meals and on average everyone got 9 chips, the price of the food is very overpriced 8oz Sirloin steak for £28, even a steak and ale pie was £18, two of our family member ordered the burgers, well their burgers were served up on two wooden boards one with a massive split in the board and the other was so dirty it looked like it had just been picked up on the floor. Family members ordered five rounds of onion rings, when the meals were served we only got three bowls of onion rings and these were put onto the table and we were told that the three bowls was the equivalent to the five that was ordered by the server, however after a few minutes a further two bowls appeared hmm I think that one server had not told us the truth and another money making idea. When it came to desserts, what a rip off, most of the deserts are priced £7.50 each, well apple crumble was ordered, when it came out in a small bowl and the apple crumble did not even fill a third of the small bowl served with a small pot of custard, one family member ordered the Eaton mess it looked like a meringue nest that had been smashed on the plate with some cream sprayed onto it together with very little fruit, others family members ordered ice cream, two very small scoops in a bowl was served up for the cost of £5.50. One staff member was so rude when we went to pay for a round of drinks at the restaurant bar, I think some customer service training is required at this restaurant, would we go back no way, we have had better experiences and food served from small local pubs.

Visited TWE on 19th July 2024 as hadn’t visited for years and thought I’d give it a go. Tried to order food at the bar at 6:30 and was told I would need to come back at 6:45 as they had a few orders . Saw somebody else order food at the bar at 6:38 so returned to order food…was told I had to come back at 6:45 . Perhaps they were local ? Gave up at that point and went to one of the many other local pubs which offer much better service. Really poor and no way o would go out of my way to return.

upon arrival we were directed to the bar area which had sticky tables and floors, gloomy decor and was empty, it was myself my partner and our two sons we ordered two trio Sunday roasts and two kids meals one of which was a kids roast, when it arrived it was barely warm stacked up was 3 cuts of meat covered in watery gravy that soaked the 3 roasts underneath topped with a raw Yorkshire pudding and that was it no stuffing just diced vegetables that were soggy, no flavor at all! Very bland, the meat was undercooked for £20 per adult roast this is just not acceptable so when I was asked by the bar man did you enjoy it I answered honesty No! He then called the manager who was at first quite patronizing rolling her eyes when I was trying to explain the issues with the food, she eventually offered a complimentary meal which I kindly declined as I further explained that I wouldn’t want to return, she then offered a refund for two meals which I accepted, the total for 4 meals came to £87 which is shocking for the quality, she came back with £25 which was not the price of two meals, I suggested what they could do to improve the food but I was met again with a frosty demeanor, the kids didn’t enjoy their meals either, safe to say I would definitely not recommend this Pub we all felt quite ill the day after aswell! Very underwhelmed and disappointed and out of pocket for the bleakest meals.

Stayed on a recommendation for business. 2 nights. Complained on night one I had no hot water in my room. I had to remind staff 3 times. No one came back to me despite asking and after 2 days I had no hot water. Cold showers, lovely. My bedroom window was less than 10 feet from a main road. Super. In addition no WiFi. I'm told 'boosters" so that the WiFi that's in the restaurant reaches the accommodation is physically plugged in in other guests rooms. Therefore if that guest unknowingly turns it off, there's no WiFi. It's 2024. Food was really poor on 1st night. The fish felt frozen (assured fresh) and literally swam in water. Offered a free soft drink. During my stay no member of staff in the 3 days I was there apologised or offered another room. They said its unfortunate and that now I've left they'll bring contractors in to look at the boiler they know is 'a bit iffy'. It's not a budget hotel either. Completely overpriced and shoddy for what I paid.

The Worlds End: 08, 09 & 10th April 2024 On arrival, entering the car park I noticed that the venue seemed well equipped for families as there is an onsite outdoor play area and a park over the wall. The car park is spacious and the building look premium. The area seems quite affluent area and I imagine that there are some good places close by to take a walk in the countryside. Check-in: I was greeted by a polite lady who was thorough and attentive. I was informed of the restaurant and bar opening times and food service was available in both. My room: I chose the standard room tariff which provided me with a spacious room, good sized double bed, tv and the bathroom was well equipped including an over bath shower and curtain. Soap etc included. There was a noise coming from the wall which I reported. The kind lady at reception came to inspect and was willing to move my room but the sound went away and I decided to stay. It wasn’t really an issue although loud at the time, I just wanted to know how to make it stop but it went away and I can always go back should it persist. The lady was very nice and willing to help where she could. Thankyou for that, it was greatly appreciated. The Bar. Meals ordering starts at 1800. I found this out at 5:50 when I attempted to place the order. At the time I was the only person in the bar, although i understood the times I didn’t mind the 10 min wait. I’m currently staying away from alcohol on this trip and was delighted to see the bar serves Appletiser - 1 of your 5 a day (read the bottle sticker) which is my go to anywhere when I’m not drinking. Breakfast (Morning 1) The Full English Situated in the main restaurant the breakfast offers a small range buffet cereals, juice etc. However, the cooked options including vegetarian are made to order which is a great touch and the 4* listing is obvious. The produce is great - Bacon, Sausage (I base all breakfast reviews top marks around sausage) mushroom, separated beans, and black pudding seared and not crozzled. Choice of white or brown toast and although the coffee when i got to it required refilling I was made one fresh front he machine - Perfect. Tomorrow I will try the eggs Benedict. Breakfast (Morning 2) The Eggs Benedict I’m glad I went for the eggs Benedict today although the full English is top tier this also was. Great bacon, perfectly toasted English muffin and the hollandaise sauce was beautiful. Perfect for my long day ahead. Night 1 Food. Main: I decided to try the Wagyu burger although I was very tempted to try the chicken and mushroom pie. The specials are different every day so probably won’t get the chance to try it on night 2 but excited to see what Tuesdays special will be. The wagyu. Burger was Beautiful!!! Incredibly well presented (see photos), served with cheese, bacon or both for slight added extra (£1). I went for plain cheese and it didn’t falter. Goode with lettuce, chunky half Gurkin and a slice of tomato. A. Ice touch was homemade coleslaw. The fries were good as expected and could have been upgraded to chunky chips but I wasn’t in the mood. All in all perfect! Thankyou Chef!! Pudding: I had the special ice cream Sticky Toffee Sundae with Chocolate Brownie pieces, lashings of cream and ice cream with a toffee sauce. Delightful!!! Night 2 Food. Main: Chicken and Mushroom Pie Special My luck did me a good tonight as yesterdays special was still on the menu. I am a lover fora good pie so thought I would give this a chance. It did not disappoint!!! The most beautiful pie I have had at a British pub in quite some time. The chicken was incredibly chunk as too were the mushrooms pulled together in a lovely creamy sauce and perfect meat, veg sauce ration. The short crush pastry was perfect, succulent and delicately finished. INCREDIBLE!!! accompanied with Chicky chips and garden pea I can happily say the pie, any anyone who knows me knows I LOVE THE PIE!!! And this pie is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Wish I was staying for 3 nights now so I could sample the Steak Pie on the regular menu. Thanks again CHEF!! Legend! Pudding: I had the Vanilla Crème Brûlée and Buttery Shortbread. This would have also been my first choice on night one if I had never seen the specials menu offering the sundae so had to give it a go as it may be my last chance to do so being my only time in the area on business in recent years. AGAIN!! The dessert was TOP TIER served with cream, small summer fruit toping perfect caramelised candy crust and the vanilla custard was to die for. YUMMY!! All in all I would highly recommend visiting here if not to stay certainly for food and would love the opportunity to bring my wife and child and maybe stay when an air show is on at the close by historic aerodrome. Thankyou TWE Team, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

After having been to the worlds end previously suggested a dinner with some friends. Starter: fish grazing board was ok, but I had the fish and Chips for Main which was sadly very bad. Coated in oil with the chips looking overcooked but soft and very greasy. 3 of the 4 of us had chips and left them all saying the same- awful! Creme brulee however was great. Such a shame as have had some great meals previously but won’t be going back in a hurry. Serving staff vet friendly so gave a tip for them.

This is an excellent restaurant, the food is very good as is the service. There is a lunchtime 2 course menu with the main menu available all day.

A welcoming friendly hotel. Clean rooms, fresh food and smiling staff. Full English breakfast starts the day well! Would recommend

Pros: - Managed to book for Sunday lunch the night before - Dog friendly - Highchairs available for children - Nice decor - Reasonably priced at £19.95 for a roast dinner - Food arrived quickly - Roast dinners were delicious! Roast potatoes were lovely, large Yorkshire puddings and lamb cooked nicely. The star of the show was the gravy and we were kindly given an extra jug for free when we asked for a little more (it's not stingy to start with, we just like lots of gravy on our roasts!) Minor Cons: - One member of staff was quite abrupt, which was a little off putting. At the time we thought that perhaps he was having a bad day but I think it's also been mentioned in a few other reviews. - We were asked if we'd like to order dessert and said yes but eventually had to go up to the bar to request the menus, as the member of staff forgot to bring them back to our table - It was not explained to us at the start that we had to order our food at the bar, so we did end up waiting a little while, thinking that somebody would come and take our order Overall, I'm glad I didn't read all of the reviews on here before visiting, as it may have put me off. The food absolutely won it for me and I would definitely go back for another roast dinner

Staff are very friendly & professional Food was outstanding, we had starters and mains and both were very tasty, generous portions and lovely presented. We haven’t been for a little while but we really did enjoy all aspects and will be returning soon .

We stay here for valentines. On arrival the lady was very nice and booking in was easy. Room was clean, but no usb points to charge the phone. We book a meal, starter was amazing, but it all went down hill after, waitress offered us a free drink which we accepted as our main course took an hour to arrive, main course arrived the steak and ale pie was burnt and had turned to mush inside, my salmon was so dry, and the potatoes burnt, think they had left it under the hot lights....... went back to our room, slept very well bed was good. Breakfast was very good and plenty of it. Got home to check out how much it all cost.....bit suprised to find we had been charged for out FREE drinks!!!!!!

The restaurant is spacious and welcoming, as we're the staff. But it's very poor for this type of establishment to have no real ale, no tomato juice and no ginger beer. Good was ok

We booked for the Valentine evening. We arrive and the restaurant was virtually full, often a good sign. Clean modern interior, very pleasant indeed. The chilli and garlic muscles were devine followed by the steak ale pie. Excellent food, served well, although we did notice a couple of othe diners were left waiting......not us though. Lovely young staff flitting across the floor silently....would defo return.

Very disappointing, I took a friend for a birthday lunch, we ordered two lime and soda's and without question he poured two small ones with ice, normally you would ask small or large and do you want ice, these two small ones were £3.! Then he disappeared to come back with our cutlery stinking of cigarettes, obviously had popped out for a quick drag , I dont think he had any idea how he stunk our eating area out, needs to be had a word with. Then we both ordered fish and chips, I wish I had taken a photo the chips were soggy and greasy and the fish had more batter on that fish and well overdone, I wont be going back here again

First time here and from the reviews a bit apprehensive - but the building was well kept and grounds very tidy. The 2 course menu for £16 was very good value Wine list was standard fayre, reasonable prices and covered all bases. The Pate was ok and the roast lamb leg was served as lamb shank off the bone. Would have been just as good to leave the bone in and described that way - but tasty. There were a few mussels in the starter that should have been removed before serving! And the wagu burger tasted too processed like a booker fresh or even frozen burger! The gents toilets in the bar were extremely in need of a refresh! But all in all a nice lunch out, would visit again

Stayed here many times. Always been pleased with the staff and the service. The liver was so enjoyable. It's unusual to see this dish on a menu these days. Had it before and will do again. I don't get to enjoy it it at home.

Ordered the pork belly and it was tough! Seriously tough! Definitely do not recommend. The attitude when I sent it back was pretty poor.

Went here for Christmas Day lunch… starter arrived within 15 minutes after being seated which I thought good start. It then went rapidly down hill from here. 1.5 hours after walking through the door we got our main dinner. Everything is pre ordered so this should have been quiet quick and painless. I work in hospitality and have served tables of 10+ people Christmas lunch throughout December and if they had waited that long I would not of blamed them walking out, we were just a table of 4. Dessert took another 20 minutes to arrive, coffee came quicker but with no mints. A table that came in after us had their food before us and left. Then to top it off, the bill was placed on the table before we had finished coffee with £38.00 service charge….. the windows were then opened obviously to try and get us to leave which was not needed as it was freezing with no heating on. I was really looking forward to going out for Christmas Day as I work in hospitality but it did not feel special at all and was a let down. If you cannot get the staff for Christmas Day it would be advisable to not operate Christmas Lunch.

Three meals went back as Luke warm .the mashed potatoes were full of uncooked garlic.vegetables were full of uncooked leeks.the chicken and bacon was warm on outside only. As compensation they kindly didnt charge for the three meals not eaten and the coffees. If a chef cannot even reheat a meal then that's really poor.

Been a couple of times before and were please but not this time was awful won't be back! It was -2oC out side but the had no heating just 2 tiny fan heaters which were useless was so cold we had to keep our coats on. Were meeting family if had just been us we would have left at that point! If have a problem with heating at least buy a few more heaters they only cost about £10!!! Food - have had the mushroom starter before but this time we only got half the portion we have had before only about 3 mushrooms chopped up which is bad enough considering the price but even worse when we know they used to give a bigger portion!!! Then took nearly an hour for mains to come out sitting in freezing cold! asked twice where our food was when it came had obviously been sat on hotplate for ages. The sauce on the salmon had completly dried up!! Plus the chips where under cooked and the mash was cold. We had waited so long and were so cold we just couldn't face sending the food back and waiting even longer for them to fix it. Wanted desert and coffee but just couldn't sit in the cold any longer and risk having to wait for an age for it to arrive so ended up going else where for that!!!

Absolutely outstanding. The most amazing Sunday lunch . Quality of meats and veg absolutely superb . We went to a restaurant yesterday for lunch at the same price as here and it was dire . Young staff excellent so polite and couldn’t do enough . For some reason living close by for 8 years we’ve never been but that will change and it’s my first point of call for my birthday next month . Thank you for a truly lovely meal and afternoon.

Last minute booking for Sunday lunch but they were able to accommodate us even though restaurant was busy, overall very impressed, pleasant meet / greet on arrival, table was ready for the agreed booking time, service was prompt and friendly and the food was excellent with generous portions, will definitely be returning.

Very slow service, waited over an hour between starters and main course. Lamb was over cooked and inedible. We are local but won’t be going back.

My husband and I stayed at The Worlds End for two nights last weekend whilst visiting a friend in the area. We cannot fault anything, we were checked in by a smiling Stacey, served our dinner by and equally pleasant smiley 😊 Amelia. The housekeepers were thorough and again very friendly. The room was comfortable and spotless. We would not hesitate in booking again. Thank you

We were greeted by a friendly staff member who directed us to the bar area until we were ready for our table. The decor and ambience was very warm and inviting with comfy sofa areas. We were then shown to our table. We were asked to pre-order our food the day before our booking but we asked if we could add a couple of sides whilst we were there. We asked for some Halloumi fries as a side only to be told "they are a starter and we can't add starters"..we reiterated they were requested as a side to then be told "I don't think you understand, the halloumi fries are a starter and come from a different side of the kitchen"......what? We asked for some chips as a side as well which must come from the other side of the kitchen as that was fine. Five minutes later, the 'manager' came back to say we could have halloumi fries, how many portions did we want. The food arrived....with the halloumi fries that were cold and sent back. We ordered some more drinks which took ages to arrive as did the sides of chips. On the whole the food was ok although the battered fish tasted like it had been frozen. After successful desserts we asked for the bill which arrived with a ten percent service charge already added on to it which should always be a discretionary charge in my opinion. We decided to pay the full bill including service charge as there were ten in our party and the service was intermittent as opposed to bad. The food and service was no more than ok which is a real shame as the location, decor and ambience suggest it could be so much better.

Been for dinner and had a mains each and a dessert each. The portions are incredibly decent sized and cooked thoroughly. The staff that were on were very polite and attentive. They couldn't do more for you. The restaurant was also extremely clean. Will definitely be back.

Started off not good. Booked late for Sunday. Directed to bar whilst table made up. Not a problem. Ordered a Prosecco. Could see it was the last of the bottle and was flat. Pointed this out only to have it held up in front of me to show the odd pathetic bubble rising to the surface. Tasted it. It was flat. Took some persuasion to have it replaced with a very fizzy Prosecco. Never had to argue anywhere before. Pubs should offer small bottles to avoid keeping a full bottle open for days? That said. All fine thereafter. Service is a tad slow. We were never checked on after service. We were asked about desserts but no mention of a coffee. Small attention to detail. When served all were polite. £19 for a trio of turkey, beef and pork was fine with me as it was delicious and well presented. Perfectly crunchy veg. Lovely roast spuds. Pork loin was a little dry but tasty. Bread stater was really only rustic in how it had been chopped up. Seating area is pleasant. Bar area has sofas in it to sit and chat on. Plenty of parking. Has a good seasonal menu planned and if it is as nice as a Sunday dinner I’d happily come along to that. Overall we were happy, bar the initial drink reception. (No pun intended!)
