The disgusting smell of bleach is very off-putting. I suggest changing brand to one that is odourless. It is overpowering and makes it difficult to enjoy a pint inside the pub. Luckily for us we have been able to use the outside areas but now that the weather is changing...

The pub signage claims they serve tea and coffee. They don't. They can't get the coffee machine to work. There are intrusive roadworks currently underway that make the forecourt (pictured) a dangerous place to pull up. When my ninety-five year old father and I pulled up and I went in to order we were told the coffee machine wasn't working. So, the barmaid took our order for a white wine instead. When I asked what beers they had she demanded we put on masks. Both of us are exempt. We were going to sit outside anyway. Evidently, this pub forces customers to wear masks even when they're outside! We were so appalled by her rude, dictatorial attitude that we made straight for the car to leave. Given that my dad is 95, we had to make our way back across the forecourt to the car quite carefully. We couldn't believe it when - not content with the upset she had already caused by refusing to serve us - the barmaid then came out on to the forecourt as we were driving away to wave us goodbye! It beggars belief that this pub pretends to be engaged in the hospitality industry. We were utterly disgusted and would advise everyone to drive straight past and give this outlet a wide berth.

The Red Lion is pleasant and friendly, though without any particular character or charm to make it a place I would go out of my way to frequent. Its strongest point is the range of beers, with 3 real ales on tap. When I was in, there was the ordinary but drinkable Greene King IPA, Timothy Taylor's Landlord (which is very popular with ale drinkers) and my personal favourite - Adnams Broadside. So worth a stop if you happen to be in Bozeat.

i visited last Wednesday lunch time with my wife and friends. We are all over 65. It was the first time my wife and I had visited and we were delighted to find a really nice, clean traditional pub with a very pleasant ambience. Service was warm and friendly and the food was really good. Three of us had fish and chips followed by a wonderful apple and blackberry crumble with custard. One person had a very impressive looking and tasty macaroni cheese. It was all excellent quality and amazing value at just £6 per head (plus drinks). We'll be back.

This place isn’t gastro pub but you can get a really good meal at a very decent price. It’s good value for money. Very old school pub vibe but that is what is nice about it. The only fault worth mentioning is that the meat was pretty tough for the Sunday dinner (not inedible but definitely overlooked). Other than that we had a nice family meal.

Popped in on 09/03 & decided to have a bit of lunch. Chose the Hunters Chicken which arrived piping hot & was served with chips & salad - nicely portioned & hit the spot perfectly. A couple of fruity ciders from the current promotion went perfectly with the food. Great welcome, friendly faces & nice place to while away an hour or two. The pub also holds regular quizzes, meat raffles & themed disco nights. Live bands also play on a regular basis. I take great exception to MKsun of Milton Keynes calling us "rowdy locals" & if that is your opinion of a friendly village pub then your statement of "visitors are not welcome at all" certainly applies to you. Perhaps you should call in again, the pub is under new management (since May 2017) & is back to being the heart of the village with its unique character (and characters) - you never know, you might enjoy the company of us rowdy village folk.

I had not been in this pub for about five years but as we had ordered an indian meal from the local restaurant we decided to stop in for a quick drink...we were served in the lounge bar I ordered a glass of red wine but on closer inspection of my glass it had lipstick all around the rim and looked dirty, I went back to the bar but the staff were standing in the public bar and it was hard to get their attention -there was a small bell on the bar so I rang this- the gentleman barman came and looked at the glass took a few others and held them to the light eventually choosing one he poured the wine from my glass straight in. Ok so when I sat down I realised this glass was the same but decided it wasn't worth the bother.

The manager/owner is very dour and it sets the tone for the atmosphere in this village pub. They try hard with the food etc but they need to be more welcoming and cheerful. Tends to be busy at the weekends and very quiet in the week

We've lived in the area for 6 years and only now got around to going to The Red Lion. They have a really fun deal with a 'directors' table' for the World Cup. Hopefully they'll repeat the idea for the RWC next year, when we will definitely take them up on it.There were clearly some regulars there today - always a good sign.We had steak, and we're very fussy about our steak. Very few places know how to treat a steak. Red Lion has been added to our list as one of the few.

Had a lovely pub meal today with some of my colleagues. For starters, the staff were friendly and attentive, which sets the scene for the rest of the experience. The food I ordered arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious (burger topped with goat's cheese, which came in a lovely lightly toasted bun, with some delicious chunky chips, coleslaw and a lovely salad with croutons). I asked for a high chair for my little one and a male member of staff brought me one and cleaned it thoroughly for me (first time i have ever witnessed this btw), which was lovely. As we were enjoying our food, a lady came over to bring my little one a little kiddy pack with stickers and crayons, which again showed the level of attention to the customer. On top of that, the pub is full of character and not at all noisy considering it's close to a busy road. Would definitely reccommend.

We cannot help but feel disappointed after our experience this evening. The main difficulty was the lack of staff. One poor beleaguered member of staff was clearing tables, cooking and serving whilst the other manned the relatively quiet bar. We waited almost an hour for food and when it arrived it was mediocre at best. The best we can say is that the midweek deal meant this was not an expensive mistake. This place is clearly loved by the locals and I wish it well but will definitely not be returning.

Ate here a fair bit under the old management as was hoping the new owners would live up to the previous high standards. The menu is new and the choices are less than before, but, it is a small local village pub and the menu is more than enough to give you good selection to choose from. We took our young children who had sandwiches, I opted for the chilli and my wife a roast dinner (nice to have that as a choice on a weekday!)The food did take a little while to come but was worth the wait, nicely presented, well cooked and good quality. Very reasonable for 2 adults and 2 children including drinks under £30!My only suggestion...The chilli was so good I could have eaten double! (it was a fair portion, I just really enjoyed it!)Will be back to try more..
