Booked for afternoon tea for mother's day. Took a while sorting our table out for us but got seated and served our hot drinks quickly. However we then waited 40 minutes for the food to arrive which was all ok just not to the usual good standard we've had here before. We saw lots of people waiting a long time for their food or to be seated and you have to feel sorry for the very hard working staff on that day as clearly management had over booked for the number of staff their was to be able to cope with

This is one of the most beautiful buildings in Wellingborough. It sells standard British food, but of a reasonable standard (no complaints like some other reviews). The interior is warm and inviting, good selection of drinks and the nicest, friendliest staff you'll ever meet. The patrons were also friendly and it was easy to spend a couple of hours chatting with an ale.

Good Friday: Not so "good" if you work for The Hind... Understaffed is an understatement and I suspect this meant management didn't have to pay premium rates to too many staff for working a bank holiday. The lass who served us was great... When she actually got around to serving us. Not her fault, big bar areas, busy on a Friday, close to the busy town centre on market day and one person working the bar! Not somewhere I would rush back to but not the fault of the staff on duty, the failings are higher up the management chain and they are due a shake-up... And they deserve it!

I booked to take my family for lunch on Saturday, there were 10 of us. The service we received was excellent from the moment we arrived. After ordering drinks at the bar we were shown through to the restaurant and given plenty of time to decide what we wanted to eat from either the daily specials or main menu. There was plenty of choice including gluten and dairy free options. Everything was freshly cooked and delicious. The staff were always on hand if we needed anything, everyone was very friendly and helpful including the chef who came to check everything was ok. It was also amazingly good value and definitely didn’t break the bank. We all thoughly enjoyed visitng the Hind and would go again.

I stayed for one, night mid-week, the bedroom I had was a lovely modern, clean room, with a nice walk -in shower and very comfortable bed and quiet at night, all the staff seemed very friendly. The Hotel carparking was not available, but advised by staff when I eventually got through via telephone (as not answered on previous attempts to call) that I could park my car in the council car park, as the hotel have an agreement with the council. The afternoon I arrived I tried to call the Hinde to check if I was parking in the right location and again the 'phone just rang and rang with no answer, I arrived at reception very shortly afterwards to see the receptionist talking in the bar area, it was mentioned nobody was answering the 'phone and she just laughed! It's good to see this lovely Hotel is being renovated but the workmen stand just outside the main entrance doorway and smoke, which is not nice for people arriving as the smoke is wafting into the hotel, which is your first impression. The evening meal was fried buffet, didn't look very good so decided to eat out, breakfast wasn't very good either. If I need to stay in Wellingborough again I would come back as would like to see the completed build work, I am sure it's going to look fantastic,

Went for afternoon tea with a group of people. We were put in a really awful, gloomy, room - which was more like a large store room. More effort could be made to make the room more welcoming. The food was ok, but not lavish nor particularly interesting. You expect to be a bit spoilt with afternoon tea, but it was pretty basic. Plenty of hot drinks, but in help-yourself jugs, no waiter in attendance.

The Hind is a delightful old inn dating back to the 1700s and allegedly housed Cromwell and a few ghosts. We did not have the pleasure of viewing any ghosts but enjoyed our thoroughly comfortable room with modern facilities which was down many winding passages. Dropped into the restaurant for a light snack and drink. Food was over half an hour before being delivered to the table. Pouched eggs on toast with chips. All three eggs were stone cold as was the toast and plate. Chips were burnt black to a crisp, looked like they had be left on the side for quite sometime and then quickly dumped into the fat to warm them up. Tried to get the attention of staff but with no luck. Then left standing by the till for a longtime watching other customers being served!! This is not the first time. I don't blame the staff, they as usual in these places were rushed off their feet. More staff required if you want retain customers? Not been too bad the other times I have eaten there. I'm afraid like others have said to me, I will also be looking for somewhere else to eat in future.

Visited here for the first time with friends around 14:15, we were going to eat and realised they had a Sunday carvery on which was perfect as we were starving! We asked the waitress if we were in time and she advised it was fine to go through. We went through to a separate room, part of the hotel I believe and took a seat. No one was manning the carvery table for the meat and the bowls were pretty much empty. A lady came over and gave us a menu, said the carvery comes out with fresh vegetables and the chef will be out shortly to sort the meat out. We waited a few minutes and a young lad came out with various items, plates, meat etc. He was continuing to bring these items out on his own and eventually stood behind the table to carve the meat. We queued up and took our plates (had to swap two as they were dirty). I had beef, they only gave me two small slices, a friend had beef and pork, around 5 slices. I wish I had asked for two different meats now.On my plate I had potatoes, which some were so big they weren't even cooked through, a hard Yorkshire pudding (last one left) a pig in blanket which looked anemic and the last bit of Cauliflower cheese and some gravy.I couldn't eat some potatoes or the sausage and had to leave half my Yorkshire pudding. We waited for our fresh vegetables but then our food was going cold so we decided to eat it. I was finished with my meal before the vegetables were served so I may as well have had them as dessert.I can safely say I won't be returning, nor recommending a roast dinner from there to anyone. It's such a shame as its a local place that should be able to serve a decent meal.

The Naseby battlefields are still there with a visitor centre (located off the A14. The cakes - there were 2 macaroons we. did not touch these. A brown cake with some cream topping was nice enough and most certainly the best thing on the plate. Two almond slices - my daughter ate a bit of one but it was not great.2 scones of very poor quality with only a small amount of clotted cream. The place itself makes you feel dirty - it is in such desperate need of repair that it is painful to look around. My wife and I visited the Hind for an afternoon tea using a voucher deal. The hotel oozes olde worlde charm on the outside but the bar where we ate was bland to say the least - the hotel should create some atmosphere to match the outside. The staff were quite charming, full of smiles and very attentive. The afternoon tea, by contrast, was a little sad. The finger sandwiches were totally uninspired - processed ham, cheese and tuna. The scones with jam and cream were quite nice and the cake selection was also quite nice. Afternoon tea is supposed to be an indulgence, an experience, but ours was alas very ordinary. The hotel does a good range of quite interesting bar menu sandwiches - why not use some of those fillings for the finger sandwiches and ditch the ham/cheese/tuna? We had a good pot of tea and a jug if coffee and these could be refilled if requested, a nice touch. But the hotel needs to make its afternoon teas as cheering as the staff who serve them. Also while we ate, workmen were wandering around to update the speaker system. Hardly something that would add to the overall ambience!!!

Having got that off my chest , The table was beautifully set with a pretty flower arrangement and pretty miss matched china. The tea was presented very attractively and each item was explained to us by the same very helpful young lady. Turkey tasted like plastic and the beef was so raw and tough that it was very difficult to cut and most of our guests left it. The accompanying vegetables were luke warm and undercooked. Did have a choice of pudding and most choose 'boozy trifle' - most insipid trifle I have ever tasted in my life and again most people left it. Cost was £23 a head, not even worth a tenner. The service was abysmal at the bar, staff moaning if you didn't have the right money, and taking for ever to serve you!! Then the 'carvery' was served on stone cold plates , not even sure what the stone cold meat was on the said plate and the vegetables I feel were cooked well in advance should I say?!? When the 'trifle' came it was a bowl of chocolate blancmange with a dollop of 'something' on the top!! Most people on my table refused point blank to eat it!! A lady with grey hair was overseeing the event but made no attempt to find out why this was ?? How can a well established venue go down hill soooo far in just 12 months?? Therefore in her mind she is aware some don't yet failed to ask me. Very rude saying I should tell them I don't eat fish ? Is is having a laugh I did by saying I am vegetarian it's not my issue if your uneducated , considering your serving food and person have already informed you she is a vegetarian an gluten free is it not your duty to check ? Also know the difference between a vegetarian and Pescatarian? . I could not eat anything because I was sure it food was gluten free and vegetarian even though she changed it I was worried if they understood clearly not as Lindsay confirmed she did not know the difference . I felt really sick putting that 's close to my mouth it's only luck I saw some of the fish outside the sandwich before eating it , think it's ridiculous that someone is running a kitchen and doesn't understand the basic principles with serious food restrictions - it's not acceptable and frankly Th staff were very rude and unprofessional

on first arriving in room i thought very basic in need of decor first thought was no toiletries in bathroom wallpaper needs doing, but after exploring the place it comes to mind its having a lot of revamping some of the rooms are beautiful to look at very steeped in history dating back to cromwell times, dinner in the evening was brill and served by some really friendly staff it also has a paronormal feel which amazes me so some of the chats in the hotel bar was brill overall a good stay.

Went here with my daughter for afternoon tea. Lovely selection of cakes which I personally think would have been nicer served on a cake stand instead of a slate. The sandwiches were exceptionally nice. Loved the vintage style crockery.

Nice place and lovely staff. The cakes were a little dry but plenty of them and the sandwiches were good. Nice teapot and tea cups but rest served on a slate - cake stand would have been a nice touch. Overall had a good time - nice natter with friends and would go back but maybe just order a sandwich.

I had never been to this hotel/restaurant/café before, and only visited after treating a friend to Afternoon Tea through Groupon. The hotel feels a little like a hostel when walking in.... very basic, and some interesting characters nearby. The staff seemed friendly and although we had to ask constantly for things - they were attentive. The sandwiches and cakes tasted really very nice, and I was pleasantly surprised by the vintage looking tea set and plates it was all served on. The only point I would make, was that we ordered a prosecco afternoon tea, and although we were asked if we would like the prosecco first, tea was never given to us. We waited throughout eating most of the food, before I asked her about the tea - I would have thought tea could have been served with the Afternoon Tea.For £17 for two people on groupon, I couldn't grumble - I just think I was expecting a little better service for a 'hotel' and perhaps a nicer atmosphere. But for £17 it was adequate and the food was nice. Before you go, check out parking, as it is extremely strict around there - lots of parking tickets on cars, but I think they do have a small car park.

Been to Cromwell's inside the Hind Hotel several times since it moved from further down the road when it was called Ollie's. Each time our visit has been so so but the food is generally ok. Last time we visited had a minor issue with the food and we put it down to new location bedding in. Today we ordered a panini and I had chicken and bacon salad. Whilst we were waiting for our food, the couple on the table opposite were refunded their fish dish and we hoped ours would be OK. When our food arrived, the panini was excellent but the salad was dry, I had to ask twice for the Dijon mayo and even when it came it had no taste of Dijon, pure white mayonnaise and was the smallest tea spoon sized portion for a whole chicken breast. The salad was very tasty but I wanted what is ordered to spice up the salad. The food here is generally good, but I think the front of house staffing and attention to detail is letting the cafe down and needs to be addressed. We both preferred it in the old location as a cafe rather than in the bar. After several visits to new location and not having faultless service, I think we will give it a miss next time.

I booked a Groupon deal for afternoon tea and this was my first visit. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We loved the afternoon tea, the warm scones were delicious. Will definitely be back again to eat as the menu and specials looked good and very reasonably priced. Saw the fish and chips come out and that looked yummy. The comments I heard around me were all very positive as guests enjoyed their food.

80th birthday meal, I was allowed the cavaliers room for free, and could decorate it with banners, photos, balloons. The hind decorated the table for free. Brill room, oak beams, antique furniture, I had asked about music, so we brought our own speakers and had Sinatra as background. The food, service, and drinks were all delivered on time, tasty and every one was so impressed with having our own room, it was like an evening at a stately home, surrounded by family and friends. We will all be back. Fantastic night. Anyone thinking of group night/special event look no further.

The Hind hotel offers a three course menue for there carvery on a Sunday afternoon. There is a mixture of traditional soups and soups with a more exotic flavour as one of the choices for a starter. These are well presented with a pleasant taste. The carvery itself has a variety of vegetable dishes that are again well presented and cooked to a soft texture for those who prefer their vegetables soft to the bit. They were all very tasty and I would heartily recommend them especially the courgettes and the cauliflower cheese. The roast potatoes are just like home made ones the best roasties I have tasted. The meat is cooked to perfection it melts in your mouth, is succulent and tender. Over all this is the best carvery I have tasted so far. There is a variety of desserts we chose the Lemon posset which was very rich maybe a little less lemon would have been preferred for our taste buds but was none the less a very tasty treat and one we would be happy to try again. The service was great I did not feel at all rushed the waitressess were friendly and helpful as was the manager. The over all experience was delightful, good value for money and I would recommend this restaurant to others and will certainly use it again myself.

Booked a separate room with a large table (delightfully set) for a group of 20, where we all agreed both the food and service were excellent. A member of staff was always in attendance, that meant we had no reason to go 'find and seek' when we had a query. We ensured that our various lunch requirements were booked prior to attending, which was efficiently served; no-one having to wait. Various foods had been ordered, including lamb shank, lasagne (2x beef, 1x vegetarian), Hunter's chicken, steak & ale pie, scampi & chips and everyone made positive comments. We shall certainly we visiting again, either as a couple or large group.

Popped in here for a drink on a Saturday night and it was empty. I feel this place is now showing it s age and falling behind the times. The bar doesn't serve cocktails and didn't even have any prosecco. The toilets haven't been updated since I was a teenager. It's a real shame as the building is special and this place is of historical importance but it s really in need of someone getting hold of it and finding it s true potential. I know the clientele for this place is niche but I still feel it s lacking on so many levels. Co petition in Wellingborough is now on the up so please don't let this place fall behind any more than it already has ! Some one do something ...

I have visited this venue once with a colleague. We decided to have a coffee in the area downs stairs and were both given dirty cups with rings round them. My shoes stuck to the floor and it smells musty. The toilets are filthy and stink. I do not know who would eat here or even sleep here. Absolute dive! The entire decor inside and the hum of urine is absolutely off putting. This place could be so much better with some investment of ££££ , rip and gut the place, change the staff also. As they seem to be resurrected from the dead!, no motivation or foresight, come on this place needs a revamp! Time for a clear out all aspects.

We were a party of 18 and booked in for Sunday lunch at 1pm. We went to table soon after but orders for starters were not taken for about 25 min, and not served for another 15 min. They arrived but were not as described on the menu. For example, soup was supposed to be served with ciabatta roll but only standard sliced bread (as per supermarket) was offered. This had to serve as "toasties" for the prawns too.We gave up waiting for the table to be cleared and went to the carvery after 2pm. The roast beef was raw in the centre so not an option for many of us, having to settle for dry turkey and luke warm vegetables. This had to be eaten among the dirty dishes of the starters.Desserts were also a problem: staff seemed surprised to be asked for crumble though on our menu! Presumably we were supposed to choose from the cakes displayed on a counter next to a coffee machine without cover or chilling - despite their cream content. Not only unhygienic but surely unsafe! Most of us gave up.Even paying was a shambles: when we went to the place as directed, we were asked for our "ticket" - but nobody had been supplied with a "ticket". By the time "tickets" were supplied, another 15 min had passed. We were told the hotel was under new management and had improved. The new manager swanned around in scruffy baggy jeans. When told of our dissatisfaction, he apologised saying he would pass on our comments to the restaurant manager - but showed no interest in the details of our complaint. The staff were not trained, and simply unable to cope with the number of people booked in (200 we were told). Never again.

The Hind is a charming historical pub on first impressions but the rooms need refurbishing as the carpets are worn and the bathrooms have stained sealant. Room 101 is directly above the kitchen so at 5.30 in the morning I was rudely awakened by the kitchen staff and it was impossible to sleep after that. That said - the staff members were very helpful and the breakfast was lovely.

In the absence of anywhere else to take my 10 year old granddaughter for an after-school dinner we found The Hind. When we opened the door to the restauant I felt like I'd been shot back into my vague memories of visiting a pub in the 60's as a small child. Having said that I do like the retro/vintage feel of places and much prefer a good old-fashioned pub but I actually don't think she place had been updated since the 60's!!The menu was varied, my granddaughter ordered tiger prawn skewers, I had BBQ chicken breast and we decided to start with Nachos. However it all arrived together and was a LOT of food. The Nachos could have fed two easier, disappointing though were the 'tiger' prawns which in fact where microscopic shrimps and the coleslaw on my dinner was...odd, bone dry - no sauce whatsoever. We waited over 25 minutes for the food to arrive but the waitress was a very charming young lady and you really could not fault her efforts to please us both. All in all I could not rate this place badly, there were just a few snags that some may fine more irritating than others.

Sunday lunch with hubby and Mum, clean well appointed restaurant very traditional setting. Lovely carvery with a choice of three meats and fresh veg. Generous portions lovely and hot , well presented. Very helpful waitresses as I had to get Mums first and go back for mine. Extra steamed veg delivered to the table with the offer of extra veg and gravy nice and hot well cooked.Desserts choice of two cakes or a cheesecake, would have liked a hot pudding with custard or an ice cream/ fresh fruit choice. We opted for Victoria sponge with fresh strawberries (came cooked in a coulis) served with cream , huge portion too big really.Very traditional style, clientele was mostly older, I wouldn't have felt comfortable bringing children here as it was all a bit hushed .

Didn't do breakfast as had to get on the road but the menu (king prawn skewers, special burgers with special Hind slaw...) I visited Hind hotel on Saturday 18th For lunch, we booked a table, as was not sure how busy it would be however there was no need, as was lots of space. We ordered hunters chicken, beer burger (x2) and steak. The food was freshly cooked food, chips were not out of a packet, can tell had been cut and fried, and chicken was so soft. We had slight issue with steak, as was asked to be cooked well done, and came out bloody, however this was quickly changed, and offered the meal for free. The service took about 45 minutes from ordering to food arriving, however this is expected when it is fresh cooked food, and not microwave heated that you get in other places. The time was not an issues to us, as was having a catch up with family, however be aware if you are on limited time. The food was reasonable priced, between £8 - £11 for a main meal. The owner also came over and apologised personally for the steak, which was a lovely touch. Great food and service, even though we had a slight issue it was addressed quickly and resolved, have recommend to others to go for lunch, good to see a local busy improving and great to have home cooked food, and not processed microwave food you appear to get so often now in chain restaurants.
