The Priory in Wellingborough

We decided to come here for a birthday lunch. The table had been reserved which we strongly recommend if you are visiting during the weekend. We decided on the two cocktails offer and two large carvery’s. We we both wished we had chosen the standard size. There was a choice of beef and gammon with the usual trimmings and plenty of vegetables to choose from or try all. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. The meat was cooked perfectly and the Yorkshire, roasted potatoes and parsnips, cauliflower cheese, mash, green beans, cabbage, stuffing and gravy were all perfect. Highly recommend at £8.99 for a standard and £10.99 for a large, it was exceptional value. We will definitely be back for the carvery.

We visited today. I had fish and chips and my husband had sausage and mash, for meal deal of £13. The food was very fresh and hot and served quickly. The staff were pleasant and asked during the meal if we were enjoying our lunch. I regularly meet friends or have meals with my family here as the food is very good value and always, in my experience, served hot. Thank you to the staff at the Priory!

I am absolutely appalled by my experience at your restaurant. I booked a table for breakfast from 9:30am-10:30am, only to have my food cleared away and someone else seated at my table when I briefly stepped away — all before 10am! This was an outrageous waste of food, especially in times like these, and to make matters worse, there wasn’t even an apology from any member of staff. The restaurant was nearly empty, so there were plenty of other tables available, yet it was clear that there’s no communication or basic organization among your team. This complete disregard for customers and their experience is shocking, and the fact that no one took responsibility makes it even worse. A total waste of my time and money. I will not be returning!

The food my partner and I had was extremely overcooked and inedible. Other food witnessed leaving the kitchen smelt and looked burnt. Extremely disappointed. Will not be eating there again.

I was able to get decaf coffee from the coffee machine which is unlimited A bonus as not been drinking caffeine for a while.

Our waitess ‘Lana’ was so helpful and made our experiance so much more enjoyable and had super fast service.

Really lovely visit with family. We'd ordered for delivery a few times but this was our first time actually visiting. The staff were friendly and helpful, very proactive too when it comes to serving, communicating and clearing. The food was excellent and great value for money. All the dishes came out together in good time (not too quick, not too slow). It was easy to order through the app too. The facilities were clean and tidy (including the toilets!). Very happy with our visit and would definitely recommend! Would also advise to book at table as it seemed to be quite busy on a Saturday evening!

Good, but could be much better with attention to detail and a better cleaning regime. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The menu is large - possibly too large? My partner had the Mega Mixed Grill. All the meat was cooked well, but some of the vegetables were lukewarm or quite cool. I had the tandoori chicken with sizzling vegetables and skin on fries. My vegetables were obviously hot, as was the chicken (which was delicious). My problem was with the fries - stale, reheated and really didn't taste pleasant but I took them back to the bar and they were replaced immediately. Our drinks (we both had passion fruit mocktails) were lovely. However, the loos need a deep clean.

Great first time experience. Food was delicious, staff were very attentive and overall had a great meal with my family. There is also a funhouse nextdoor which was free for us, and the children really enjoyed themselves. Will definitely visit again.

We took the kids to fuzzy Ed’s and what a great venue it is! Kids are easily able to be seen whilst we sit and have a coffee which is refillable!! They host birthday parties, do theme parties and the team are fab! Marcella was great on our visit! Explained the play passports to us and generally was fantastic! We will be back!

What's not to like.... great food... reasonable prices,and nice helpful staff

I'm a bit of a review veteran and do not like to leave harsh reviews however I feel it necessary on this occasion. We visit The Priory roughly 6 to 8 times a year for breakfast and visited at about 9am this morning, 14th August. After we paid for the buffet and 2 pints of coke, £17.50, we sat down at a nearby table and moved due to how messy the table was moving to table 42 near the entrance. The buffet was awful I promise you all, eggs were rock hard and had been sat for a while,3 trays full of them yet there were about 6 people in, and in previous visits the choice has been very good. I think today there was sausages, bacon, fried eggs, beans, which had obviously been sat a while, and tomatoes.... I do not know what the potato like items were but I left them. I normally eat 2 plates but left after 3/4s had been eaten..... It really was awful. As I stood to get up, my arm actually stuck to the table which had obviously not been wiped down from the night before ( picture supplied). Please do not cook too many items as you had an empty restaurant and stood food spoils. I'm very sorry to leave this review but my experience with you was dreadful and I will never return. Visited at lunchtime today. Ordered Hunters chicken and a chicken burger with onion rings and coleslaw. Food not very hot - the only thing that was were the onion rings. Second time now that we've been where the food wasn't very hot. Very disappointing.

Just had an amazing Christmas lunch today. So well organised and such value for money. The staff especially Albert were fantastic.We go there often and always have good meals.

Can't speak for the rest of our group, but my mixed grill was excellent ( why you would try to up sell rump to sirloin on a mixed grill was a baffling but meh) the jalapeno chips were really good, a bit crispier and would be perfect. The only down side to our day was space or the lack of. 6 adults and a child was a squeeze in a booth on a hot afternoon, couldn't move much. There was a small empty , not reserved function room 5 feet away from us which we were told we could not use! The use of it would have made things perfect .

Service was great.Sharon always works hard and stops for a chat. Staff always friendly. Breakfast great 👍

Place could do with a deep clean very busy when we went food was alright bar staff were excellent if it had been just a drinking pub it would have been better the average food offerings and unclean tables put a dampner on it but a family with small kids on a budget are their target audience so know your market

We liked this place but it's now borderline with the price being on par for a carvery and other breakfast providers, especially with the blue light card not being accepted for breakfast. UPDATE 7/24 Enjoyed our visit today . Not crowded and very helpful staff. Otherwise same as usual.

Came here today for the first time. Upon ordering my PINK GINN and ginger ale the barman picks up the standard ginn in which my partner corrects him and points him in the direction of the PINK NOT.CLEAR ginns. We order our starter the chicken platter which mainly tasted of burnt batter well over cooked wasn't particularly nice. Bit similar.to chicken strips you put in the oven and a little bit tipsy and over cook them but eat them anyway cause your starving. Mains came partners had to be sent back as contained relish in which was not advertised on the menu but was also missing cheese we were reassured it would only be 5 minutes in that time I managed to finish my meal which was average. To be fair i left most of it..Partners replacement came out some 10 mins later I asked the server what could be done regarding the bill seeing as I had now finished eating.my partner would be eating alone and we were out for a birthday meal to which he replied your joking and then walked off.. still sat here now waiting to be spoken to about the bill which seems is not happening. I would avoid this place won't be visiting again.

Slightly tired and worn down furniture, food was relatively quick to arrive although not the best. They do cater for Vegans and various dietary restrictions. Friendly service.

Great atmosphere and very helpful staff. A nice friendly place to have a drink and chat or have a quality meal at a reasonable price. Plenty of parking and good facilities.

What a spot on venue. The cleanliness, the speed in service and the amazing food. And to top it all off the staff are lovely, intentive, happy and honest. Ordered a sizzling meal that tasted top noch. Hannah and Sharon stood out for me. Will definitely return.

Popped in for breakfast. Ordered using the app easy enough . Waited and waited for my drink (Wasn't very busy). So I went to the bar to ask how the self-service breakfast works (I was greeted with we end breakfast soon ) .So I collected my own drink from the bar and went to get some breakfast . Poor choice and mediocre ingredients . I know it's pretty cheap but a smile and better service cost nothing . Very sticky tables as well so not very clean . Wetherspoons is miles better for similar money . Sorry should be better .

No notice that the evening will be taken over by a quiz. The menu is deceiving as the food cook in one fryer so dangerous for someone with an allergy. No changes offered to allow a person with an allergy to be able to eat as most brought in ready made not cooked from scratch. The food orded was not cooked properly. Burnt and looked a mess. The chips were under cooked on the inside but burnt on out, so the fat was far to hot when they went in. Also burnt and fried to a crisp were the mushrooms and the chicken strips. The waiting staff didn't listen, tried to take food we were eating, twice from the table. I Asked if they could bring out a birthday cake with dessert and told they could not touch it, they would have to hand it to us in the box , even if we get it out they can't touch it. They can't touch any not prepared there. So this really did spoil the special occasion.

I had my daughters 4th birthday party and it was great staff were lovely especially Sophie and Emily were really helpful with everything I needed

Great place. Staff are very accommodating. Come in for breakfast regularly and it’s excellent value. Sharon is very chatty and friendly. Breakfast is fantastic! Most of the staff work really hard. Lovely staff and a Pleasant atmosphere to eat

Delicious food, staff are happy to help. I came last month on a Sunday I don’t usually have a Sunday roast from the pub. But I gave it a go and I would come back for it. The meat was lovely and a good amount of extras and condiments to go with your roast dinner. They have also recently added pepsi cherry to the menu

Hi, my son and daughter had their joint birthday party at the priory on saturday 22nd july at 10am, I can only say it was fantastic and completely exceeded my expectations!!!!!!!, 100% value for money, being able to hire the whole venue was so good!!!! we had 23 children to the party and some siblings and then all the parents, and everyone said how good it was, how they didn’t know it was here, how they would come again. Emily and Lana are a complete credit to you!!!! they took everything in their stride, made the whole process easy, looked after us, went above and beyond to make my children’s birthday fantastic!!!!! looking after that many children, getting everything ready, that’s not easy, Thank you so so much!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luke has the best customer services. He is very hardworking young gentleman. We have enjoyed our meals and Luke's proactive attitude made the environment even perfect.

Went for breakfast today. Unlimited is 5.49 but refill drinks are more than double the price than they are at other similar pubs. Very dark and musty inside and most of the bacon was rock hard and cold. Disappointing for somewhere that claims to be fully booked most days !

Cheesy garlic bread extremely cool, had to use real energy to tear it apart..! Waffle from the desserts sections very tight and hard..

Breakfast is as expected for the price. Good when not busy, otherwise it’s like feeding time at the zoo. Don’t understand why they charge 99p for mushrooms? Could do with hash browns instead of little potato things. Scrambled eggs would be a good choice too.

Wife and I stopped for the buffet breakfast on a Sunday morning. Excellent value for money and good quality. Staff were attentive even though they were very busy.This must be how they keep the costs down.Highly recommended,we will definitely be returning.

We go for Sunday Carvey. I got to say the Rib Eye beef joint always is cooked brilliantly. Also the service, especially Albert who has worked at the Priory for 10yrs is very good

We were served by two people named Sharon and Danielle. Their customer service skills were appalling. Abrupt, non welcoming, lack of professionalism, and quite frankly rude. No eye contact. It was as if I was paying with their money. I was even paranoid to even eat the food! Felt like walking away! It’s a shame that it felt that there was a racial undertone to this behaviour as it was not extended to people of their own race. Thank you but this is the first and last time I am coming to this place. Service was appalling and disappointing.
