Booked a table for a family Christmas lunch on a mid December weekend, specified this as a note on the booking. On the day we were told that you could only have the Christmas menu if you had preordered. At no point when booking online or after had we been asked to preorder and the Christmas menu on the website had not stated preordering was necessary. I had also called pub to confirm booking and hadn't been notified then either. It put a real dampner on a lunch we were all excited for. Made worse by the fact that we were surrounded by other big tables being served from the Christmas menu and with crackers etc and ours was a simple roast. They did offer to add turkey as an alternative to the meat on any of the normal roasts after making a bit of a fuss but the rest of the menu was not avaliable. I love overseas and was looking forward to a traditional Christmas meal and dessert, so a very disappointing visit.

After trying unsuccessfully to get a table at a couple of other places on the way down from Holmfirth, we thankfully stumbled upon the Yorkshire Bridge Inn. The pub is in Derbyshire, not as its name suggests and is located near the long lost village of Ashopton near Ladybower reservoir. We had our cockapoo with us so it was great to see that part of the dining area was set aside for dogs too - and he quickly settled down to sleep under the table. The first thing that struck me was that the lady who I asked was immediately helpful and pointed out a good table and said you can sit here if you like. The service remained attentive and friendly throughout and we tucked into gammon and the appropriately named Dam Buster burger which used local produce. The meals were hot and delicious. We stayed a little longer to enjoy the atmosphere, where I tried a well kept pint of cask ale, with the chap serving me being chatty and friendly too. So a great find and place we will definitely use as a stop off when doing this journey again in the future.

One night stay at The Yorkshire Bridge Inn Bamford. Dinner/B&B all very nice the Inn was very warm clean and comfortable the staff could not have been better and the food and drink very good. And now comes the "but" evening dinner was in the residents dining room, half way through our meal a couple were escorted to the table next to us accompanied by their black Labrador [not a guide dog just a pet], which I have to say was well behaved but we have no wish to have our dinner in the company of a dog. The following morning down for breakfast in the conservatory which had at the entrance a sign saying "no paws past this point" but low and behold another lady customer was shown to a table with a large black dog and had breakfast, as if this was not bad enough when she got up to go the dog put it's head on the table to have sniff at what she had left on her plate. Please, restaurant owners and hotels/B&Bs give some consideration to people who don't wish to spend time in the company of dogs especially when eating. Geoff Davies.

A lovely pub very close to Ladybower & Bamford Edge. We called in mid-walk. It was very busy but we were able to get a table. We both had scampi & chips. It was okay and served quickly. The staff were very friendly.

Price for bed and breakfast at this hotel Very reasonable compared to other peak district locations. Having not been for a few years we decided to go for my birthday. The last time we were here everything was excellent. Expensive but the great quality made up for that. Unfortunately we have to report it has sadly gone down hill. The starters used to be spot on (Bruschetta garlic bread no longer on the menu?). The replacement various breads with balsamic vinegar very average. The main courses again poor in comparison to a few years ago, both in quality and portion size. If something works why change it? The only thing not changed is the prices which are still expensive. Which you dont mind paying if standards are kept up. There are much better places more local to us and we shall now be side stepping the Yorkshire Bridge.

This is the secong time in 3 months we have stayed atcthe Yorkshire Bridge and each time has been special. This is lagely due to the wonderful staff for whom nothing is too much trouble and they are so friendly you feel like one of the family. The food is excellent breakfast is hearty and evening meals superb though be warned not for those with a poor appetite. It did not matter which chef was on the food and sauces were always of a consistent standard something some establishments struggle with not so here. Would we go back absolutely. Would we recommend it yes yes yes! Many thanks to all at yorkshire Bridge for another great break. Allan, Jean & Tasha Warrington

We only popped in for a drink after visiting the Ladybower reservoir which is very close by. There is plenty of parking, but it was quite full, which conflicted with the number of customers in the bar; I sadly think people exploit the car park. We just had a drink- prices were reasonable, service was good, and they are dog friendly. I used the toilets, which were clean. I would return and consider eating there too.

Used to be a lovely pub with great atmosphere and traditional food. Taken over and will he my last visit as they are throwing everything at it- a BBQ outside with the smoke billowing over everyone and so had to move and the rudest staff member who then was picking ar the BBQ food and tyen serving the food without washing her hands- DISGUSTING. Walked in, walked up to bar, bar staff made sure they finished their conversation before serving me. Oh, and...wait for it...£6.60 for a pint of ordinary Guiness!!!! The Yorkshire Bridge is often our go to place for great food in the evening or after a long walk on a Sunday afternoon. We recently visited and were eager to try something from the new menu. With lots of choices, it didn’t disappoint. Theres still some of the old favourites like steak and kidney pie, but it was really nice to see some new dishes. Our starters were well presented and very tasty. For a main, I went for the chickpea curry served with rice and an onion bhaji, which I will definitely have again. The chicken was served with tasty vegetables and our desserts were the icing on the cake, the sticky toffee pudding was huge! The staff were very welcoming and friendly. All in all, a great experience. We will definitely be returning to try something else from the new menu in the near future. Dawn & Chris

Stayed here one night as in the area. Also had booked a table in the restaurant for evening meal. Haven’t been or eaten here for over 25 years so a lot to live up to in my memory. Place has expanded since I was last here. Extensions for accommodation and the restaurant were obvious to me. That’s got to be good as this place is and was always busy due to where it is. We got in late afternoon and checked in. Bar and restaurant was busy with afternoon walkers. Staff were attentive and friendly. Check in was efficient. Room was small but just what we needed for 1 night. Bar service was good. Enough choice of beer. Moonshine was well kept. Returned to the restaurant for early evening and table was ready. Waiting staff were friendly and efficient. Food choice is somewhat limited but still enough choice and specials board bolsters this up. I remember the menu being more extensive years ago but then this place has changed and is a bigger establishment now. Had a good nights sleep with a very good full English breakfast. No complaints and fairly reasonable pricing all told. Would recommend if you are in the area and need a place to stay and be well watered and fed.

Let me start with the positives.. staff are friendly, the place is clean and the food came out pretty quickly and hot. So definitely some positives. But the food itself is only OK at best. There aren't many other places to eat close by and so -- as you'd expect - the one place serving food in such a situation doesn't have to try too hard to make money. So it doesn't. Soup and a sandwich for lunch. Both were pretty bland and the prices were on the high side for what was - after all - microwaved standard pub fare. ( sandwiches come with a small salad.. not fries or crisps which have to be bought separately ) At the time of writing the Angler's Rest a little way along the road was not doing hot food because of some renovations... but that looked to be a pretty promising alternative that we will try next time we are around this area. Or we may just pack a lunch/drive to Castleton which as a lot more choice. If you do have to stop here you won't have a bad experience -- staff are friendly/ there is hot food and drink etc etc... It'll be fine. But just that.

I wouldn’t recommend stopping here if you have dogs with you. We were following a pub walks book with dog friendly pubs at the end so called in as a family of four with our three dogs. From the moment we entered the service was terrible, the staff behind the bar were very rude and had a bad attitude. They were impatient holding out the card machine waiting for payment as if we were taking too long and it was a problem for them. They then asked us if we wanted to move tables because they were worried someone might step on the dogs (pretending to be concerned), we said no we’re okay sitting here thank you (as we were already de-camped with our two kids and moving would have been a lot of effort). The dogs were very well behaved sitting and lying quietly next to the table. The staff then kept making rude comments about the dogs being in their way and giving rude looks. It was actually a chair from another table and a high chair that were in the way - not the dogs. Normally in dog friendly pubs you get friendly staff that will interact with you and your dogs - not here! The staff are rude. The pub isn’t anything special, and because of this we wouldn’t return.

Excellent staff, excellent food (especially the Steak and Kidney Pie) and nothing is too much trouble. The landlord is a great guy with the patience of a Saint since I couldn’t handle the idiots twenty deep at the bar (a group) all paying separately for their own drinks and meals with a variety of cards, phones, watches and probably voodoo trances if they could! Get out there and have a great time and remember… it’s a country pub so have some respect.

Being a regular walker in the Peak District I always call off for a quick drink before heading home. Yesterday I called in The Yorkshire Bridge and was very disappointed. Obviously, during the pandemic you need to make sure you are safe and Covid restrictions are in place. The beer garden to the rear of the building was empty, the patio at the front had one table occupied and the tables at the side of the car park had one table occupied. As per the instructions I went to the main entrance to check in using the NHS app, that was the easy part. A lady came to the door and I asked if I could have a drink and checked if they were still doing food. I could have a drink but no food. That wasn’t a problem, it was mid afternoon on a Monday and quiet, so understandable. She asked if I’d like to sit inside or outside and told me to scan in the VR code on the table to order a drink. I said I’d like to sit outside, double checked I didn’t need to download an app to order, and headed over to the patio where one couple occupied a table and the rest were free. Another staff member saw me and came over. I noticed there were cards or something similar on the tables and I asked if it would be okay for me to sit there or were they reserved. She said they were reserved. I headed over towards the tables at the side of the car park where a small family occupied a table and realised the table I’d gone to had a cross on it saying it couldn’t be used due to social distancing. I moved to the next one and the staff member said “You can’t sit there I’m cleaning it!” It was at this point I realised this was going to be hard work, I left and went to The Millstone. While I fully appreciate times are difficulty and rules are in place they were so unhelpful and the attitude of the staff needs attention.Normally it’s a happy place... just not yesterday.

Staff were pleasant & welcoming but service was slow, however this is understandable in today’s climate. As a vegetarian I chose the Sweet Potato & coconut curry in which I was very disappointed, huge mound of rice & hardly any curry, the sweet potatoes were totally uncooked & Rock hard & the lime pickle was put in the curry instead of as a side dish. Had the veggies been cooked & the rice / curry ratio been better it would have been quite tasty & my friends enjoyed their meat dishes. We had intended to order dessert but nobody came to ask & in the end we went to find someone to ask for the bill. Overall the place is nice but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

Today was our first outing for a family meal since the Covid restrictions were eased. I was quite nervous if enough safety measures would be put in place and if they would be implemented properly. However I need not have worried. The tables were spaced well apart with clear screens separating tables. You might think this may seem imposing but it didn't at all. You hardly noticed them there and they made you feel alot more protected. There was also plenty of room. The staff all wore facemasks which I think is much better than face visors. There was also plenty of hand sanitiser around. I felt the safety measures were really well thought out and were maintained by staff and other diners throughout our meal. The meals we had were fantastic. Very tasty and generous portions. Special mentions to all the waiting on staff and in particular Chris behind the bar, who had us in stitches with laughter all afternoon. Last Sunday the 10th of November 2019, was forecast for a really good day and though we didn’t quite get the wall to wall sunshine promised it wasn’t a bad day at all. My erstwhile rambling companions decided they wanted a trip out to Ladybower reservoir in Derbyshire; to see the giant plug holes, which didn’t disappoint as they were in full flood. The weather was really very good for the time of year and though it clouded over in the afternoon the sun came out again as we arrived back at the dam, after walking to the end of the west arm of Ladybower and then up through the enchanted forest and along the old Roman road to Win Hill Pike, then back to the Yorkshire Bridge Inn below Ladybower dam, in time for tea and medals. The pub was warm and welcoming as usual, with its excellent selection of fine ales and a small but excellent selection of single malt whiskies. As it was getting late in the day; this time we only stopped for drinks; however, we enjoyed our Christmas dinner so much last year that we went twice and are awaiting this years Christmas menu with eager anticipation. A further visit is definitely scheduled for next month.

Great location to explore this beautiful part of the world. Perfect for walkers and plenty to explore in surrounding areas within short drive....Bamford station perfect to access Sheffield and Manchester. Accommodation is cosy..basic, but kept immaculately well...and wins for its fabulous breakfasts (as long as you sit at the right table!!!). Restaurant is basic but plenty of choice and very generous portions....always busy as obviously very popular. Steak pie was the star. The team here are all very welcoming and helpful but its definitely a pub first and foremost..with food.

Given some of the negative reviews I was nervous - but no need to be! Went here with friends and children. 11 in total. We booked the day before and were accommodated nicely on a large table in the barn at the back. Given the size of the table we were asked to pre order the day before which was absolutely fine, rather that than sit for an hour waiting for food. After a walk around part of the nearby Ladybower reservoir we headed back for food, which was perfect! The children’s chicken goujon were breast, the stake and kidney pie made with quality meat and the burgers got the thumbs up. No room for pudding as the meals were generously portioned. Served a good range of ales and the bar man very pleasant. Restaurant and bar were busy and the service was friendly and helpful. True, no one came and asked ‘mid mouthful’ if my food was ok, but then again I am in a pub and if it wasn’t ok I would have got up and told them....Couldn’t fault it.

Called in for a bite with the dogs after walking around a local reservoir. The beef bourguignon I had was exquisite as was my wife's 'ultimate fish butty'. From start to finish, I'd struggle to fault the place. Would go again if we were in the area.

Called in for Sunday lunch and we both chose homemade steak and kidney pie. It was excellent, veggies ok but pie stole the show. Others entered after us and struggled to get a seat.

We came in purely for a quick break and a cordial. £4.20 for 2 cordial drinks. Now I know businesses have to make money, but in most places, I could have bought 4 cordials for that price. What a joke.

Stopped in at this lovely place. Lunch was really enjoyable. Food is lovely. Staff are lovely. But we couldn’t stay any longer thanks to dogs. Hubby is allergic to short haired dogs and people came and sat behind us with one. It wasn’t long before his eyes flared up and we had to leave.

We were very disappointed at our Sunday lunch on 18th August. The meat was very tough the carrots were Rock hard and potatoes were not fresh and hot like they had been kept warm.

Lovely cosy pub. Food is always delicious and plentiful. Never had a bad meal here and the landlord is very friendly. I had to wait at the bar for a while whilst the woman serving was messing around chatting with other staff.

We had Yorkshire pudding for starters, whilst it was nicely presented it lacked a little bit of flavour maybe a pinch of salt next time in the gravy. Mains arrived while we were still finishing our starters. Haddock and chips with mushy peas and a Dam burger both were tasty and nicely presented. Nice little selection of Gins, Dandelion and Burdock with lemonade was beautiful.

I visited the Inn with my wife last night. We have been regular visitors for years and generally enjoy the food , drink, and atmosphere etc. We arrived at the bar at 08.33pm and ordered a pint of beer and bottle of wine. I think the wine was a suitable clue that we intended to dine. The barman took the order prepared the drinks and then expressed surprise that we wanted to order food. By this time the chef had appeared by the bar, he had obviously been allowed to clear up early despite a customer wanting to order food ! There was absolutely no give or sympathy that we had driven 20 miles to eat at the Inn. This was made worse by the Barman being really pleased that restaurant orders

Typically busy on a Sunday when the suns shines but we’re lucky to get table in conservatory- you have to be prepared to wait! Great food, big portions well cooked, don’t rush you! Homemade soup was excellent whilst gammon and the steak pie were excellent! If you like cask there’s plenty of choice, recommend Barnsley Bitter, full of flavour for 3.8%. Dogs welcome, tight car park and roadside parking too but with all the walkers it can be tough. Great service too. Recommend it

We stayed for a weekend. Room 5 was very comfortable and quiet. We ate both evenings in the restaurant. It was lovely to eat fresh food all homemade as opposed to processed freezer food often served in pubs. Staff were friendly and very professional. Vegetarian choice was good and breakfast had good options. We would like to thank all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable
