A really well thought out menu cooked to a really high standard. Great value for money. Always a smile and eye contact when you walk in. Monthly Quiz nights provide fun entertainment with family & friends (and dog). All staff are so friendly and make time to chat. Highly recommend a visit if passing or making it a local if you love nearby.

The place is spotless with a lovely atmosphere, the menu is extensive, the food is hot and delicious and the staff friendly and welcoming. Be sure to book because it's very popular.

I have been to the Railway again today with my family. Everyone had a great meal and the service was excellent. Booked again for December. There are always 12 of us and we all travel a fair distance to get there. Thank you Oliver and colleagues for our enjoyable experience.

Second time for Sunday roast, had roast lamb last time, roast beef this time. Great food, great service, and…..I have coeliac disease and require gluten free meals. This place gives me every confidence that they understand what it means and have the processes in place to meet my needs. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Railway Inn…..and we will be back 😊😊

We held our Dad's wake at the Railway Inn because it had always been a favourite of his for a pint or a meal. We are very grateful to the staff for their efficiency and kindness. We had a spacious area, very friendly service and excellent food. Thank you so much.

We had Sunday lunch here and it was great. We received a friendly greeting and were quickly shown to our table. We were served primarily by Harriet who was lovely as were the other staff. We visited the pub on pie night for a birthday party, there were 13 in total. I was sent by email the pie menu and the full menu to choose a pre order. We were seated promptly and food came as ordered everything was great and plenty of it. All the staff were great and polite. Will definitely return. Thankyou.

Went to this pub on a family recommendation for my mums birthday, we had to pre order food as there was alot of us but the menus and form were sent via email and were really easy to use. The pub its self was clean and friendly, staff were lovely and very attentive, food was good pub food, everyone enjoyed their meals! Family member said the steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious! Toilets are a bit outdated but it is a traditional style pub, otherwise would definitely go again! Thank you to the whole team!

Lovely food and great service, huge portions and we all enjoyed what we had. My only request would be for a fish to be included on the Sunday lunch menu. There was only meat, meat pies and 1 vegetarian option available.

We visited today. I had fish and chips and my partner had the chicken and mushroom pie. The food was of the finest quality. Great prices. The service was excellent. There was a big party in but this didn't really impact on our wait time. All good cooked fresh. The decor is great in keeping with the local railway theme. Had a lovely Sunday lunch to Celebrate my Wife’s 60th. The food and the service was very good and we had a lovely time. There were very good vegetarian options and a variety of vegetables to accompany the meals. The only thing to improve on was the Eton Mess which was really just cream with fruit coulis and a sprinkle of crushed meringue, disappointing! The other puddings were well received. The other good factor is that the pub is very dog friendly.

We were a party of 12 who came to celebrate a 90th birthday and the food and service were excellent and we all had a really enjoyable experience. Outdoor recommend going and will definitely go again!

We had a lamb and beef dinner. Mashed potato was cool, roast potatoes was dry and brittle.yorkshire pudding was cold. Waitress was nice and offered to change my meal but I was so hungry I said no,so she brought out more mash, nice and hot.Assistant manager took around £5 off the bill but her remarks were not appreciated. She said everything was fresh and I was the only one to complain. This implies that I'm lying and I felt there was no need for this comment. All other staff were really nice.

We went for Sunday Lunch. We ordered a pie and a roast gammon. The pie was beautiful, lovely pastry and the filling was delicious. The roast gammon was overly salty. The roast potatoes didn't seem to be fresh out of the oven, as they were dry as if they had been on a warming plate for too long. The cauliflower cheese was also on the runny side. The staff were friendly and the food arrived quickly, the pub was also very busy. I would return to this place for food but I think I would visit during the week for a burger etc. I won't be returning for a Sunday Lunch it just wasn't for me, on this occasion.

We like the setting and the building. It's a nice place to eat a meal. The staff are friendly, polite and attentive. We were served mainly by Harriet who was lovely. The food is good and reasonably priced. Our only minor negative was that some of my husband's chips weren't cooked enough. We will definitely return.

I chose the Railway for a lunchtime celebration for my husband's birthday - we went with family and a friend. Having had an excellent pre-Christmas meal there I thought it would be nice to go there again and I wasn't disappointed. The food was delicious - I had the Mallard Burger followed by ginger bread cheesecake. I really couldn't fault it. The staff were lovely and attentive, regularly checking if everything was ok and if we needed anything. Many thanks for making it such an enjoyable experience

Went here last weekend for the first time in years. We had heard good things and weren't disappointed! It was great. Lovely staff serving and the food was delicious. We had Sunday roast and they were really tasty and one of the best we have had in a while. Have recommended this place to a few friends and will definitely be back soon.

We visited here on Saturday and as a coeliac, I have to eat a strict gluten free diet. We rang ahead to check the menu, and the staff were very knowledgeable. There were a few gluten free options, which made it difficult to choose. The waitress checked if I had an allergy before ordering and informed me that they have a dedicated gf fryer. I ordered a gf chicken nacho burger and fries and it was lovely. I would highly recommend this place, the staff were all really helpful and polite.

We visited on 15th December having been to The Railway many times over the years. The setting is nice, the pub is comfortable and nicely decorated and there is plenty of space. The staff are good and attentive. However, what on earth has gone wrong with this year’s Festive Menu! We had traditional turkey dinner. It came with mash, new potatoes (that were supposed to be roasted) and one single veg - sprouts!!! If the same meal is taken on a Sunday - for the same price, then all the rest of the missing veg makes an appearance. To serve a turkey dinner without a selection of veg is just wrong and there’s no excuse. A few peas and carrots and proper roast potatoes do not cost much and should be served as a part of the meal. In conclusion - if you want a festive meal, then go on a Sunday or go elsewhere. There are plenty of places offering a better meal at comparable prices. We won’t be returning for a while until the pub has a rethink with its menu. Disappointing.

Nice enough venue, and helpful pleasant service, but let down on this occasion by the food (previous visit was excellent). We had to wait 30+ minutes for our food. Cauliflower cheese was burnt, cabbage was dry and awful, the sausage -meat was dry. It was redeemed by the rest of the meal, which was fine. It was not bad enough to complain, but disappointing nevertheless.

Xmas get together with friends. You always want a get together to go well; this was great. We all chose the festive menu. The orders were Beef, Turkey and Sea Bass. All cooked to perfection and so flavoursome. Our desserts matched up to the fabulous quality and flavour. Choices Gingerbread cheesecake, Railway tiramasu and chocolate ice cream and panna cotta with Spiced Plum Compote. A really great start to the season and celebrations with friends. Having visited this establishment a number of times over quite a few years now ,we have seen lots of changes ,some good ,some bad ,however even though today's overall meal was as good as usual ,we were shocked that when we asked for more gravy(which is almost always included in the cost of the meal) we were told that it would be at an additional cost ....... the waitress who's service was great, managed to get us another small gravy at no extra cost but really ?? ! I hope this becomes an inclusive part of any meal served in future Thank you
