popped in for a few pints on a saturday afternoon . staff were very friendly and knowledgable about the beer . excellent selection including a sour which you don't often see. great atmosphere and friendly locals. my only complaint would be the tinny speakers and music - but that's small issue

A great pub with a friendly atmosphere. The choice of beers was incredible, I am sure anyone would find one they liked here. We booked a table for food and were not disappointed. This week's pop up food was pizza. It was awesome and the pizza topped chips a brilliant idea. Would recommend to anyone who likes to try different beers.

I reviewed the Tap about 8/9 years ago and was quite disappointed *two stars). It's only fair that I add a new review due to the passage of time and massive change to my rating. The beer offering is great with both cask and keg on offer, it belongs to the Derby Brewing Co so expect to see a few of its beer available. Usually some tasty guest beers on offer and a pretty decent selection of cans and bottles too. There are now occasional events such as tap takeovers and tastings. Food offering is pretty basic pub fayre like pizza, burgers, baked spuds and sandwiches but nice and tasty.

I visited The Brewery Tap around a week ago, this review is based on that trip only. Upon arrival I was greeted by the friendly bar team who got me signed in as per Covid-19 government requirements so either manual sign in or through the track and trace app. How we ordered drinks was then explained to me and then I went and sat on the beautiful roof terrace as it was sunny. The Brewery Tap is part of the Derby brewing company and offers a large variety of drinks. There was a problem with the order which was purely due to the barcode on the table being wrong and the barman quickly rectified this. Overall a well maintained pub both inside and out with great beers.

Drawn by the Governments offer of a half price meal, I headed out for the evening to the Brewery Tap. A small simple menu and a good array of beers as you would expect. Food was hot and quite tasty if not very exciting choices on offer, but the staff were all very helpful and explained the new COVID rules plainly. Everything was served with a smile which made for a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. All in all a good night.

We visited the Tap midweek and there weren't too many afternoon customers. There is a great range of beers...the IPA Kiwi and the cider are excellent. Our meals came quickly and there were good portions, if a little overcooked. Unfortunately the tea and coffee machine isn't working...after three weeks. Visited the Brewery Tap on a Friday evening for a meal and a drink. We were eating early as we were meeting friends for drinks later. The place was very full but we found a table in a quieter corner. As many people had gone for a post work drink there were lots of groups talking loudly. With wooden floors and plastered walls the acoustics are bad.The music was also too loud meaning ordering at the bar was very difficult.Aside from all of this there was a great selection of home brewed beer, my husband had the special ‘Super Frank’ and I chose two different ‘proper’ ciders. The food was basket style but great quality and the chips were the best - skin on ‘proper’!We both had burgers. I had a veg & beets which had amazing flavours & my husband had a beef which was very good quality.Well worth a visit just don’t expect it to be quiet it’s popularity speaks for itself.

There was a really excellent selection of cask ale to choose from and a clean and comfortable pub to drink it in. The only reason it did not get five blobs were the group in one of the bars that were swearing rather too often and loudly, but when we moved to the other bar we could see how the pub catered for the community as the local deaf association were having great fun on their night out. well worth a visit.

A group of 4 of us went in on a Saturday evening for just a drink. We sat at a table but as we sat down the waitress came over and said the table was booked from 6pm. As it was 5:20pm we said it would be fine and we’d leave before 6pm. The manager’s attitude was appalling. He made us move tables and ranted from behind the bar in front of all the other customers, whilst not actually serving us. Really poor experience, the DBC chain is in danger of believing its own hype. A much warmer welcome at the Exeter Arms just 100 yards way awaits.

Staying just across the river for a May Bank Holiday weekend and came in here to pass the time away at lunchtime whilst waiting to book in. WOW, what a choice we had. The boards were studied and the pulls looked at before our choices were made and we soon had excellent beer in hand. Whilst supping we were discussing the other beers on offer and decided it would be rude to not try another just to make sure that the quality was consistent. It's a pity we had to meet up with other family members otherwise i don't think we would have seen much of the rest of Derby.

I eat in here and Derby Brewing Company establishments more frequently since they introduced proper Gluten Free options on existing menu items, rather than some salad off-cast that prevent you from having a proper meal. I salute DBC for this, I slice of GF bread is better than a bun if it is GF. Burritos in other DBC establishments in Derby are a true delight. So I was looking forwards to a Chicken and Chorizo burger in a GF bun, what could be nicer! Of course it would be accompanied by DBC Business As Usual, despite the fantastic range of beers on offer, this is one of my staple and stable diets, no change here. I ordered food and was advised that the dinner menu was off, but my choice was on the lunch menu too, no problem here.

If I told you a pub could be all things to all people you may not believe me. Modern surroundings, friendly atmosphere. Themed nights for different drinks. As popular with students and tourists as local workers for after-work drinks and regular pass-through. Overlooking the river Derwent and it's famous Bridge it is a sight to behold, but has no agenda or false promise. It's simple Derby hospitality from local folk.'The TAP' really is a place you really should visit. They have locally brewed ales of the highest quality, supplemented by 'trays' of Gin, Whisky etc. Excellent food with Gluten Free/Vegetarian options. Theme nights offer a chance to sample different foods or drinks from all over the globe. There is no single group or demographic here. Old pub meets modern Derby's needs with a style that is hard to define. Trendy people mosh out with studentsand local council workers. Derby Brewing Company and their knowledgeable and professional bar staff know how to make you welcome and ensure that you will want to visit again. The closest thing to a local I have!

We visited on a Sunday when there was an open air concert at the Cricket Ground nearby later in the evening, but unfortunately I don't think the owners had done their homework because they seemed a bit overwhelmed by how busy it was, to be honest (suggestion: keep an eye on the Derbyshire Cricket website!). Having said this, however, we managed to find the very last table, and enjoyed some good craft beers. The waiting time at the bar was long, to be expected given how busy it was and another member of staff came in later on which certainly helped. The wait for food was a lot longer than normal, but when it arrived was very tasty. Overall I'd thoroughly recommend it but if there is an event down at the cricket ground get there early for a seat!

We were seated in the main bar, somewhat noisy but a good atmosphere. We were told to order from the bar so our group set about making selections. To cut the next 15 mins short essentially large parts of the menu were not available and our orders casued more items to run out. Only 2 of our group got their first choice and 1 poor person from our group had to settle for her 4th choice. Apparantly it had been a busy day, but they had run out of even the basics - steak, fish and chips, oh and no Merlot and no tonic for gin. I would recommend eating here, but checked first what they have in stock before you get your taste buds going !

Thought it would be useful to compare the Tap with other places in Derby. Gotta say I'd rather go to the Exeter Arms few yards down the same street. On the positive they have a huge selection of beers and lagers but food menu not vast. Although food is good to be fair.

Bar staff are absolutely amazing, Corrigan served me this afternoon for my 17th birthday and she is honestly the best person I have ever been served by, so bubble and chatty which is exactly what you need. Had the best birthday and will certainly be returning with my uni mates. Cheers Corrigan!

Visited 12th jan with a friend. Greeted by a lovely young woman, had both of us laughing, decent music and cosy pub. Never seen such a huge drink selection, spoilt for choice. Will be in over the weekend thank you corrigan for a good afternoon.

This has become a regular location for drinks with colleagues after work. The beer choices are amazing and the food excellent, you honestly cannot go wrong here. Not cheap but excellent value for the money.

Top pub with loads of different drinks too chose from. I had the full rack which is 5 glass of beer, each glass is 1/3 pint. The rack comes with a cheese selection too. Keep up the good work.

Came here on 20/12/2016 for a quick drink around 5 15 was going to see a film at the Quad so just ordered a bowl of sweet potato fries and a bowl of chips and salad. When they came after about 25 min wait they were disgusting swimming in cold oil. We could not wait for replacements as we were short of time. We got a refund and left, also the wine served here is of poor quality at a high price. A pub to avoid if you want a decent drink and edible food. A pub to go to if you want homemade beer at premium prices.

Our final visit to the Bonnie Prince before it closes and becomes a Hickory Smokehouse. Great service from the staff as always, especially April. So helpful and makes sure everything is 100% right and everyone is happy. Great to hear we will see her again at the Merlin in the future

The member if staff was quite rude I had to ask for another latte as the one i got was cold I even put my fingers in it to test an was told we don't make it too hot in case it burns you I also had to ask for a spoon that seemed to be to much trouble I got a hot coffee I haven't been in there for awhile but its really gone down hill lucky I had a spare serviette in my bag as didn't get one of them either I will not return
