The best restaurants serving British food in North East Derbyshire East Midlands

This seems like a nice wee place with lovely people. I would have given 5 stars had it not been for the fact that my food was handled at the same time as handling money, with no hand washing or sanitiser. Sadly my food went in the bin after I left.

I had always been a regular customer & was so sad to find it has changed ownership. The quality of baking was always so good the bread cakes fantastic ,my husband always enjoyed their breakfast sandwiches.

We went here for my daughters baby shower. Wow, what a venue for the occasion! Beautiful private room and the afternoon tea was fabulous. The staff couldn’t be any more accommodating, they really looked after us! Highly recommend!

So, in April this year I cycled there 3 weekends in a row (~80 mile round trip) for brunch/lunch...think that tells a story to how good it is! I've had the pancakes with berries every time (it was so good the first time its hard to not order it!) and also sampled the tofu & bean salad bowl, vegan rolls, vegan breakfast with smoky beans, some cake, and iced + hot lattes. All amazing Disclaimer - I'm also not vegan/vegetarian - but the food isn't lacking one bit (the pancakes just taste like great pancakes and the veggie sausages and vegan rolls are better than most meaty versions). So meat eaters don't be put off by the vegan/vegetarian tag of the cafe. Oh, and the staff are fab!

Still good food but the price has gone up and didn't feel it was as good value. Such a shame as it's one of our favourite regular spots.

We got a takeaway from here on Friday night with all the family, we had a mixture of cod, chicken and mushroom pie, chicken nuggets, sausage and chips and all of course a chip shop curry sauce! The service was good but it gets very busy very fast. After you have ordered you get a fob that buzzes once your food is ready. It is a very good idea as you can wait outside so it doesn’t get too crowded. The food was 10/10 and well priced. Highly recommend if you are wanting a chippy tea!🍟

Great poached eggs on toast really fresh delicious eggs My husband had the little tickler breakfast really enjoyed. This included x2 hash browns, toast, x2 saugages, mushrooms, baked beans, eggs and hit tomato sauce.

Haciendo un descanso de dos noches aquí, y realmente impresionado por todo. Los estándares son altos, desde alojamiento, comida, limpieza, personal y mantenimiento en general. Es obvio lo mucho que los propietarios se preocupan, recomendamos encarecidamente y sin duda nos alojaríamos de nuevo

Very helpful staff who are willing to help. Food was hot and didn’t take long to arrive. Nice calm atmosphere. Reasonably priced.

My husband and I are regular visitors to The Snug Cafe, as you could say it's our local. We sometimes go for breakfast as my husband loves their full English. We are always made to feel welcome, the decor is nice and comfortable, and in good weather it's lovely to sit outside.

We first visited this little gem last year to watch a friend of ours in a band. We got a friendly reception from the lovely landlord and landlady. We found a table, got some drinks & were then joined by some locals who were also very welcoming! We had a great night, we chatted, laughed & enjoined the music so much we’ve been back lots since! The pizzas here are legendary, and there’s nothing nicer than a cold beer in the garden in the summer! It’s definitely one of our favourite music venues now.

Solo comimos una vez allí, pero habíamos jurado que si estuviéramos en el distrito en el futuro sería nuestro lugar al que ir. La comida en nuestra visita estaba bien preparada y bien presentada, y esperamos volver. Qué vergüenza para ellos.

Un gran pub tradicional con una bienvenida muy cálida. Visitamos el domingo por la noche para el carvery - a pesar de que llegamos al final del servicio, la comida todavía era fresca y sabrosa. La carne en particular era delicioso. Una impresionante selección de verduras también. El chef amablemente preparó salchichas vegetarianas y salsa para alguien de nuestro grupo e hizo un gran esfuerzo para ayudarla a disfrutar de la cena. El personal es muy acogedor y amable, son un activo enorme para el pub.

Stayed one night, the hotel is excellent and charming in an elegant stylish way, old fashioned attention to detail with a friendly atmosphere goes a long way. The breakfast is outstanding, again the attention to detail is second to none. Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in this area. Thank you

We have used the tea room quite a number of times in the past,we went there on Saturday afternoon about 1545,picked a table and food and went to order,2 adults and a child afternoon tea,it was now about 1550,and was told sorry,we stop taking irders at 1530?!?,at this point I said thank you very much and left with my family. Why are they open until 1700 and stop taking orders at 1530?!? It wasn’t as if we had asked for hot food,which I could understand! Was very disappointed,on the up side we found a very nice place on the way home who did manage to do a very nice afternoon tea for us,so all was not lost!👍🏻
