If a customer asks for the door to be closed because it is cold outside, the answer is not to intimate that the door is open for the convenience of the staff; the answer is to close the door.

In my opinion, this is the best cafe in Dronfield and we've been in all of them. Under the relatively new managers the place is really friendly, including towards children, dogs and those of more advanced years. The menu is a little bit unusual, really well-priced and the chef knows his onions. There are always lunch specials, the recent goulash being particularly good, and everything is served with a smile. They are putting their hearts and souls into this place and it shows. Our only problem is that we are on holiday now, so won't be able to enjoy the food for a while.

On a sunny morning, what can be better than sitting on a patio for breakfast. The service provided by Jade was perfect, with nothing too much trouble. I chose Eggs Benedict for breakfast and when it arrived you could almost see that it would taste marvelous. And it did. Thanks Tim the chef. And it's nice to sit and chat with other couples who have just dropped in for a drink, full English, or coffee and cake.

This cafe has been closed for a while and has just reopened with new owners, so thought we'd try it out. It's my nearest cafe, so I'm pleased to have it back. Ordered eggs benedict for £7 and my friend had a big sausage, egg and bacon sandwich for £4. Both were very tasty. Service pretty quick. We sat outside because the weather is freakishly warm for October, but there were maybe 8 tables inside. All looked clean and the staff were friendly. They brought us out cushions for our chairs. I didn't notice if you did kid meals, but would be great if you have little cheaper buns or gingerbread men etc for kids for after school maybe, with there being 2 schools so nearby. You could entice us in with make your own pizzas or something.

I visited here with my daughter and 8 week old grandson as we knew that the place is very child friendly. As it was a lovely day we sat outside at a table in the shade, but there is plenty of room inside for prams and buggies and a children's play area with lots of toys. The baby needed a nappy change during our visit and my daughter was very satisfied with the changing area in the cloakroom. We both ordered club sandwiches, one of which was the vegetarian option, and they were delicious, accompanied by a serving of salad. I had a cappuccino, while my daughter went for a cooling peach flavoured tea and we couldn't resist a slice of coffee cake each which was also delicious. We will definitely be visiting again with or without the baby!

We love going to this little tea room. The cakes are wonderful and not small portions! The teas are in china teacups and teapot. My partner had the Lady Grey tea which comes in a diffuser teapot with an additional timer to make sure it brews for the correct and ideal time. It can get a little busy and at times a bit noisy with young children who are welcomed and well catered for.

I have been here three times now and came away each time thinking what a great place it is. The food is lovely and reasonably priced. The café itself isn't over crammed with tables leaving room for pushchairs etc. there's a fab little corner with toys to keep children occupied and it's easy to get to and park close by. It's obviously very popular with local mums and their kids as every time I've been they've made up the majority of the clientele, great if you've got children of your own as you don't have to stress too much about the usual mealtime madness that kids can some times create. However I can appreciate that this may be less than ideal if you want a quiet, relaxing drink. I have only been at lunchtime though so this may not be the case at other times of the day.

I visited The Snug today for the first time today, I was with my ten week old son and two friends, one with a 4 month old baby and the other with a four year old. What a great find! It's so nice to be able to take our children and feel relaxed, so much so that I discreetly breastfed for the first time in public. The food was acceptable, not a vast choice but the welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff make up for that. I didn't try the cakes, which have rave reviews so looking forward to trying those next time. I can see this becoming a regular haunt of ours in the future. Only suggestion is that it would be nice to see more hot dishes other than just Panini's and soup, maybe a daily special? However, limited kitchen factilites/space may restrict the menu? Either way, keep up the good work and looking forward to visiting again - very soon!

They even have a children's table and chairs to make them feel extra special! Tables, high chairs, kids corner and toilets always clean and tidy and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. When the weather is warm, bi-folding doors running across the whole of the café open up onto a lovely patio and grassy area which the owners fill with books and toys for children. Lovely touch. There is a great choice of lunch including jacket potatoes, panini's, hot and cold sandwiches - all which come with a salad garnish, all day breakfasts, tea cakes, scones and of course their famous cakes... the chocolate brownie being my husbands favourite which I have to take him home each time I go (at least once a week!!). First off I was surprised by the reviews on here versus my own personal experience of the place. Whilst the coffee was great and It being a good thing that there is finally a local cafe this side of Dronfield I can't help but feel that if there were more competition the food would be forced to improve. I had a chicken club sandwich for lunch and my mum had a chicken and brie panini, both came with a 'salad garnish' which was comprised of one minuscule shredded piece of lettuce, a slither of tomato and a morsel of cucumber plus a plop of some nasty store bought coleslaw and a couple of random Pringles for good measure. No joke but it was the stingiest sandwich filling I've ever EVER experienced, we both had to actively search for evidence of chicken within both our meals, half a layer of wafer thin chicken that only covered half the bread! My club sandwich was pretty much 3 slices of bread with loads of mayonnaise to compensate. Nobody asked us how the food was and just cleared the plates away which is why I felt compelled to share my experience here. In retrospect I wish we had gone to the Co-Op a few doors down instead for a sandwich meal deal. For £5.50ish each I'd have expected way more that these sad excuses for sandwiches especially when I had such a great local cafe in London with way higher location rental rates that charges £6 for 5X the sandwich quality (with visible fillings), home made potato wedges AND a fresh turkish side salad. Feel a bit robbed, still hungry and won't be going back.

I have frequently visited the Snug and have been meaning to write a review for quite some time... so here goes. Firstly, the staff are very friendly and courteous - nothing is ever too much trouble and they are always smiling, no matter how busy it is (and it can be very busy). The food is always first class and the selection of cakes always makes it difficult to resist the temptation. Remember the advert, "naughty, but nice!"?? The coffee, I think it is "Heavenly Coffee" really is... well, heavenly. The ambience and decor is relaxing and the seats very comfortable. All in all, I always wish I could spend all afternoon there, alas, I am never able as there's work to be done elsewhere. I have been to the Snug a few times since it opened and have always really enjoyed the experience, the food is very good and well presented. Today I went with my Daughter and 3 year old Granddaughter, who by the way loves the kiddies corner, this keeps her occupied whilst waiting for the food. The food served was once again excellent but I was really surprised at the general cleanliness of the place. There were only 3 tables occupied when we first arrived but we had a job to find a clean one, the floor round most of the unoccupied tables was left unswept where food had been dropped. I don't know if they were short staffed but the whole time we were in there no one cleaned a table top or swept the dirty floor in fact we had to use baby wipes to clean our table. I hope the owners take the time to read this review and take on board my comments. Having said this I will still visit again because it is convenient and the food is very good.

When looking for a venue for our daughters Christening celebration, The Snug was top of our list. I am a regular visitor to the coffee shop with my daughter; as they always make you and your children feel welcome. The service was second to none, as always, and the food was wonderful and was appreciated by all of our guests. Much effort had gone in to making all the cakes, in particular ones with sugar paste flowers and edible glitter and the scones with jam and cream were such a delight and a personal favourite. Dione and Jill added a few extra touches which make it a day that our family and friends would remember. Thank you for making the day special.

Never knew this place existed as mainly visit cafes in Sheffield - however I shall most definitely revisit The Snug! The food was lovely, and prices are similar to most other cafes...but The Snug scores very highly on service. They responded helpfully to varying requests from a party whose ages ranged from 1 to 75 and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. A pot of tea was served in a beautiful flowered teapot which delighted the 75 year old and the cakes were excellent. There are toys for the children and the entire place is very pretty and immaculately clean. And there is air conditioning which, on a very very hot day like today, was wonderful!
