Really nice wedding venue on the edge of the Peak District. Fantastic scenery and only a few minutes drive from Curber Edge. As a wedding photographer its always a good day at The Fox & Goose. Called in on our way back from a hike in the Peak District with the dog . A lovely pub with a log burner very dog friendly which is great . Food was beautiful , staff were really friendly and welcoming a nice pint, lovely foid and a great atmosphere , a lovely pub . Will definitely be back . Thanks so much for having us .

Returned for our anniversary meal on 20/10/24 after getting married here in 2022! We did book to come back last year but unfortunately had to cancel due to the chesterfield flooding so was so lovely to be able to return this year. Such a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere and brought back the best memories of our special day. We had Sunday lunch and the food was incredible, plenty to go at and every bit tasted amazing. All the team were great but a big special mention to Lynne - so down to earth, friendly yet still professional and gives the best customer service (lynne was also our wedding coordinator and I don’t know what we would have done without her on the day!!) Keep up the great work, the Fox and Goose holds a special place in our hearts and we hope to return next year for our 3rd anniversary ❤️

We had our wedding here in Oct 24. We wanted a venue able to cater for a smaller wedding but still feel special. Our day was absolutely perfect and Lynne was an absolute star. I also have to give credit to the chef as the food was one of the best meals we've ever eaten. Highly recommend if you are wanting some unique/ bespoke.

Great location. However, service slow with drinks. Waited 20mins and ended ordering with food. Then they forgot the water. Waitress in VERY short skirt, long coloured nails not a good look. A smart, longer skirt and waist coat would be more appropriate. Staff could do with being a little less austere. Food passed across tables and drinks set down in front of a toddler. REALLY 🤔 Sunday roast was good. Large portions, so go hungry.

We had our wedding Oct 24 here and it was perfect We wanted a small intimate wedding and this venue just fit the bill perfectly. Everything was exactly as we wanted. Lynne was incredibly helpful and soo organised! Compliments to the chef as the food was some of the best we have ever eaten. Would highly recommend.

We held our wedding at the fox and goose a few weeks ago. The day was amazing and from start to finish Lynne and the team were fantastic in helping us with the planning and making the day go without a hitch. We had complete confidence in Lynne from the get go and would highly recommend this as a wedding venue for others.

Me and my husband got married here on 26th September this year and WOW. I can not thank lynne,Craig and the team enough for all the effort and hard work they put in to make our day so special. We truly had the best day. Nothing was to much trouble for them. They kept in touch and was there when we needed anything. The Sunday dinner is fantastic, beware you do have to order mash if you want that though. I am a big fan of mash and believe this should be included as standard.

Went to a wedding, beautiful setting for it. Grounds and pub are outstanding.

We had the most amazing time at the Fox & Goose for our wedding on the 3rd August 2024. The staff were so attentive and accommodating and they couldn’t do enough for us. The views were spectacular, the afternoon tea we had was awesome and the staff were fantastic. I would recommend anyone getting married here or just going for a drink and meal. So relaxed and friendly.

Upon arrival it was very quite for a Saturday night,got served with a few drinks then was told to sit where you want,waitress came dumped menus on end of table and went,no mention of the specials etc. Starter came,pork and beef meatballs,the meatballs and sauce wasn't too bad but shame the bread was stone cold in the middle. Waitress collected and never asked if it was OK. We ordered 8oz fillet next,the steak was so.over seasoned with herbs etc you could not taste the steak..I can go on but we'll won't be going back again,there were 3 couples people in the restaurant whilst we was there on a Saturday night at 7pm. The waitresses were very young and didn't have a clue basically. Not really suited for the job they were doing. Hope this helps anyone else reading this. What a shame,lovely place,lovely memories 😒

We had our wedding at Weddings on Pudding Pie Hill on 20th July 2024 and absolutely loved it. We fell in love with the venue and the views and instantly knew it was the one. Throughout the whole process, Craig and Lynne have gone above and beyond. From finding and sorting the tipi to answering each and every question we had, the team were fantastic. We had an outdoor ceremony (luckily the weather held out) and Deb was a fantastic support for my disabled dad. We had a ham roast sharing board for as our wedding breakfast and it was genuinely the best wedding food we've ever had - all the guests agreed! We had an absolutely amazing day and couldn't have asked for more.

We had our wedding at The Fox & Goose on Friday 12th July, and everything was absolutely magical from start to finish. We chose Pudding Pie Hill because we got such a lovely and personal vibe from Craig and Lynne when we came for a viewing, and they did not disappoint. Throughout all the planning, the service we received from Lynne was amazing. She continuously went above and beyond to help us design and bring to life our dream day. We were fortunate to have an outdoor ceremony, with a tipi reception. Lynne and the team worked tirelessly in the run up and on the day to ensure everything ran to perfection. We received so many wonderful compliments on the venue, the food and the service from our friends and family. What made Pudding Pie Hill so special is that they gave us the freedom to create a wedding day that was truly personal to us, anything that we wanted, they helped us find a way to make it work. They then handled everything so effortlessly on the day, so that we didn't have to think about a thing! Thank you so much Lynne and Craig and everyone else for making it the best day of our lives.

Had our wedding here on Saturday and couldn't have asked for a better day. Lynne was amazing and co ordinating the whole day for us and nothing was too much trouble. We decorated it ourselves the day before, it was a lovely relaxed day. Food was incredible we had a hog roast and BBQ there was plenty to go around. Had a great day! Thank you for everything

Attended a wedding. Expensive booze

Had a really disappointing experience that I hope they learn from. Because we didn't order immediately when seated it took over half an hour to take our order even though we were only one of two groups in the dining area. We waited another half hour for our starters and then cancelled our food and left. Poor service. Poor communication. Didn't like the fact they felt it appropriate to move tables directly behind us as we sat waiting and set up for another party, which was loud and disruptive and I felt was quite dismissive about our dining experience. It's a lovely venue and the pictures of the food look great but my experience was poor.

wow what a venue! we had our wedding here on 6th June 2024, from the moment we booked in June 2023, Craig & Lynne couldn’t do enough. The venue is beautiful and had everything we needed for our medium sized wedding. Right up until the day before our wedding they catered for all of our needs, changing things, making sure that we had our perfect day. The team was on it from the moment my husband arrived, they guided us through the day and everything was perfect, nothing was to much trouble. It went so smoothly and it was down to the team. The afternoon tea for our wedding meal was perfect, the display of the afternoon tea was lovely. We had the hogg roast and BBQ for the evening and all the guests was really impressed. I would also like to thank Debs, Jack & Ben the staff working that day. Professional team who made you feel so welcome. Craig & Lynne thank you for making our day so special, it really is a superb venue, you have a fantastic team and we really appreciated every minute and without you it wouldn’t have ran so smoothly

Lovely cosy pub friendly good views over Derbyshire

My wife and I visited this lovely clean Inn for my birthday treat organised by my daughter and Lynn the manager. The table was booked for 6.30.On arriving it was very quiet but of course it was quite early evening. The lady behind the bar gave us a lovely greeting served us drinks and the gave us the option of seating, as it was quite a cold evening we chose to sit near the wood burning fire. We indicated that we were ready to order, Lynn presented us with the menu and we both selected the Lamb trio. Lamb fritter, a miniture pan of shepards pie and lamb joint. We didn't have to wait very long before the food arrived my goodness the plate looked delightful, complete with 2 large pieces of lamb joint carrots, green beans and luscious gravy. I have to say that this was one of the finest meals I have had the pleasure of eating in many years. The lamb was cooked to perfection and slightly pink, the shepherds pie tasted beautiful and even a simple fritter tasted very special. In addition to having a fabulous meal perfectly cooked the Manager Lynn could not have been more helpful, checking to see if everything was ok, a real professional in the true meaning of the word. We live in Derby about 40 minutes away but I would definately make my way to the Fox & Goose should we be in that area. Highly recommended. A big thank you to Lynn for helping my daughter to arrange this surprise and to the chef for making my birthday surprise lovely.

Fabulous venue. Traditional feel as you step inside to a clean country pub with nicely stocked bar and friendly greetings from staff. A snug area with real fire working in the cold days makes it all the more inviting for a longer linger. Outside in the warmer weather is lots of outdoor seating and a children’s play area with large carpark. Through to the orangery with fabulous country side views for a relaxing meal. Staff were polite and nothing too much trouble. We had a Sunday lunch of Derbyshire roast beef ..not to be missed it was amazing with a giant Yorkshire pudding! As regular visitors through the seasons and years we have never been disappointed with anything. Everything cooked perfect and to eat out is a treat and a pleasure at the fox and goose for us.

We came here for a couples dinner (8 of us). It was a stormy night and it was lovely to be greeted by a roaring fire. The menu has a good variety of tempting food. I had the salmon scotch egg which is something I'd never had before. It was beautiful. I had surf and turf for my main. Here is where my only criticism arises. My steak was medium rare (I'd ordered medium) and my wife's was rare (medium rare was ordered). We mentioned it to the staff just to let them know. The service was excellent. The beer was well kept (Theakstons). The atmosphere was friendly, quiet and relaxed. I would definitely return. This could easily have been a 5 if not for the aforementioned steaks been cooked to our preference. 4 stars. Thank you to the excellent staff🤝🏻

Family gathering for a birthday, great atmosphere and food. Staff accomodating and pleasant. But ideal to just drop in and chill to.

Good Sunday roast. Were a party of 10 and all enjoyed the meal. Roast potatoes could have been a bit more roasted rather than "boiled" and meat gravy instead of veg gravy would have been preferable, but every other element was spot on.

Lovely country pub with excellent food. Staff are friendly and attentive. The burgers are excellent. Overall atmosphere is great. Sat near the log burner after a cold and wet walk, it was bliss

Wow !!!!!! this is our local and they have changed the menu slightly we have always thought it was excellent but today the Chief had excelled even further we had fish and chips compliments to the chief it was truly amazing thank you so much x Lynn and her team as always provided the very best service they are the best thank you so much xx

Absolutely superb country pub, very warm welcome, great service, the fish & chips were to die for, all the extras, gorgeous fish cake extra, mushy peas & chipshop curry with bells on … woodburner, great music & atmos, service was so friendly, polite & very efficient … the place in Derbyshire to go to … highly recommended 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We had our wedding here on the 16th Feb 2024. From booking the venue to having our big day Lynn and all the team was amazing.nothing was too much trouble.we was allowed in day before to set our wedding up but some things couldn't be put out till the day. So the team did all this for us.the wedding day went amazing and the food was out this world so everyone told us and didn't each much myself. Everyone said how great its all been and staff nothing was too much trouble. Lynn is one of the nicest people you will meet and so helpful. The only downside to the day was it had to end. But we loved it.mr and Mrs Toy

Went for a meal a few years ago, loved it so much we've been back many times. Always friendly, warm and welcoming. We even had our wedding in the function room upstairs (pictured)

Disappointed with unfriendly, slow service for our Sunday lunch. No greeting on arrival. Was placed on a table and had to ask five minutes later for a menu. The waitress staff kept looking in the room and leaving or attending to other dinners. We had to keeping asking to place our order, request a dessert menu, request the bill etc. We felt like we were being a nuisance. The food was ok but not worth £16 for one carrot, one parsnip etc. Desserts are priced at £6 each for a sliver of cheesecake. We felt ignored and was very disappointed with the experience. We won't be going again and would not recommend this place.

First time we'd been to the Fox and Goose on hearing good things about it and a reasonable priced menu. On arrival we were greeted by Captain Charisma himself and ushered to sit on a table in "no mans land" until our table was ready. At this point we assumed that it must be busy and packed out, so we sat and waited a while until we were called through. Eventually we were told our table was ready, so were escorted through to the conservatory, an empty conservatory!! We were the only table in there!! The older waitress was very polite and took our food order. Eventually starters turned up and went down a treat. However I had to get up to tell the staff we'd finished and were ready for mains. Unfortunately this lack of service continued with the younger waiting staff and I had to get up on 3 more occasions to prompt them for table service! The food was very nice overall, but if the management can please ask the younger waiting staff to be a little more attentive, it might save the frustration of future diners having to endure nearly 3 hours of being there like we were! Not sure we'd go back, based on the lack of service.

Visited here for new years day lunch and was very disappointed. Attended at 1pm, got our food just after 2pm. I ordered the bacon burger, which is accompanied with salad, chips, onion rinds etc. It arrived, chips were fine, the burger however, no bacon, no salad no onion rings, it looked like something you'd get at a fairground and for £16.95 RIP OFF. I was not impressed and won't be returning to eat sorry.

We were visiting Chatsworth House for the Xmas decorations and staying over near Baslow. As we got married at the Fox and Goose in June we thought it would be great to have a meal there. Craig and Lynne welcomed us like old friends and it was a lovely touch. The meals were lovely and the beer spot on. The pub snug is the most comfortable and atmospheric area and we love it. The rest of the staff are friendly and professional. Despite having a busy full pub Craig insisted he took us back to the hotel and it was very much appreciated. You guys are fantastic and run a professional set up while clearly caring about your customers. Andy and Liz

The Fox and Goose is our local restaurant and we always go for Christmas meal every year but have to say this will be the last one. The last 2 visits have been very disappointing, meals were missing elements, cold or not well cooked. We had to queue to get drinks making it harder to all eat together as they wouldn't let us order st our table. The food was subpar and having to pay upfront for it all I was extremely embarrassed as I had booked it. I felt really sorry for the staff as they were obviously understaffed with the girls running around but were extremely polite and helpful. Sorry but think you need to up your game before we come back.

Food is excellent 👌 Service was prompt. Very busy and we ate late on a Sunday afternoon. As a result various items on the menu were unavailable, which was a bit disappointing.

Up marker dining. Good food, freshly cooked. Good service from 2 young attentive waitresses. A bit noisy but understandable with a birthday crowd partying. Good experience and booked for Christmas.

The place is small, and food is not that great

Called in for dinner, found a good selection of beers, had a pint of Guinness, really good, we had dinner with a good selection on the menu, food was excellent, staff are very friendly and helpful, very welcoming, definitely recommend this place, very large car park so no problems with parking, fantastic views over the moors. Ideal setting for a great day. Would very much recommend the Fox and Goose for that something special.

Delightful place, good food, friendly staff

We stopped off at the Fox and Goose yesterday for lunch. The outdoor space has a good sized play area and there was also a bouncy castle which kept our kids happy while we waited for our food. We were warned of a half hour wait because they were busy but it unfortunately took over an hour to arrive. When it came, the kids' meals were very basic and the burger burnt. The fish and chips meal was also pretty basic and not particularly tasty for what we paid. Not recommended. If you carry on a few minutes west, you'll find two other pubs close by which are worth trying instead.

Ate here on a Saturday evening as staying at the Lambs Glamping place round the corner. Nice food, I had something from the specials menu which was great. Kids food also good quality. Nice atmosphere and really friendly staff. Lovely pint too!

I just finished my wedding here well I have to say I am extremely happy it was everything and more that we wanted,the views amazing the selection of drink on offer perfect, but above and beyond was the staff especially Lynn and the young girl working with her behind the bar they we so helpful and constantly working with a smile on their faces I work in hosptality and I see when staff genuinely care about your experience I would recommend them to anyone. Recently attended a wedding there, by hekk, nearly £17 for a pint of IPA and a single Gin and Tonic! Nice venue but be prepared for London prices for drinks!

Pop in for lunch Friday on our way back home with friends the ladies ordered the salmon my mate the rabbit pie and for myself the fish and chips.The girls food came and was edible but as for the rabbit pie totally overcooked the chips were greasy as for my meal the chips were swimming in oil the fish was burnt the bill was credited will not be visiting here again

Disappointing I am afraid. My wife and I turned up at just gone 12, thinking it would be quiet. There were no staff to be found when we walked in and a couple sitting at the table. We asked them if it was open. After a few minutes the manager I assume walked in and said hello. He then proceeded to go behind the bar and answer the phone and then stood there. I had to ask him would it be possible to get a table for two and he said yes of course. I briefly looked around, it was not clear if it was tableservice or pay at the bar. I asked him how does it work? He laughed obnoxiously and said “well you find a table and you sit down”. I then asked do we pay at the bar or is it table-service and where are the menus? To which he replied, I will get you a menu. We ordered bruschetta for starter and fish and chips for main. The bruschetta was very small and bland tasting. The fish and chips, the fish was beautiful. However, the chips were soggy and some borderline burnt. They never checked on us to see if the food was alright, they never asked if we wanted to refill our drinks. For supposedly table service it was poor. Staff were hanging around at the bar. The kitchen staff were coming in and pouring themselves a drink. So in general, we did not feel it gave a good impression.

OUR WEDDING AUGUST 2023 Ya Know, when you get past the silly cakes, the pretentiousness of wedding favours, the boring speeches that no one wants to hear and hours of small talk between rarely seen, shirt tail relatives like aunt Maureen who's never had a good word to say about anyone, what remains is two people. Lynn, Craig and the team at the Fox & Goose, never lost sight of that. This , Bride & Groom before all else attitude enabled us to have our day, just as we wanted. Simple, elegant, no fuss and above all else, a bit of fun ! Thanks guys we had an amazing day. Here's to keeping it simple..... Cheers.
