Arkwright Arms in North East Derbyshire

A warm and Friendly welcome awaited us, we had booked a "pitch" for our motorhome ahead of our visit which was brilliant, quiet and we chose to have Electric Hook Up for £10 which we were more than happy to pay as excellent value xx We had booked a table to dine in the restaurant and we weren't disappointed oh my word the choice of ales and ciders was phenomenal!!! All the staff were absolutely brilliant, friendly and helpful and the decor is beautiful. We ordered Hunters Chicken and a side of onion rings ...never seen onion rings as big !!! The meal was excellent. We'll definitely be back soon for another overnight stay and next time we plan to sample the Sunday Lunch. Highly recommend this gem of a find for motorhome stopovers xx

Fantastic Beer! the staff are lovely they weren't doing food on a Monday so we got a takeaway they supplied us with warm plates and eating irons thank you Arkwright Arms. P.S we have had food on a previous stay and it was fab.

Choices of beers very friendly bar staff and nice atmosphere to go with it

1st time here. Good food choice & portions - stuffed & great tasting. Had sausage & mash (meat version & vegetarian). Clean, friendly, range of beers. Dog friendly.

Thanks for the friendly welcome, unfortunately we couldn't try the food on a Tuesday, but we could try the dark (learned, not black) beer. We were able to stand without electricity for free. Thanks

What a lovely country pub. We used their motorhome stopover service (call first). Inside pub is clean and nicely decorated and has a good atmosphere with good local following. Staff were lovely, made us very welcome. Food was great pub fare, we both had pie and chips. Really dog friendly people. We had a lovely first night of our tour.

What a great pub! Stayed here overnight in my car camper (which they allow, seem to appreciate the advance call). Friendly staff & a great selection of beers inc. non alcoholic Good sized beer garden too They had a private function so food wasn't available which was a shame but just bad timing for me, I'll definitely have some next time.

Great place in the countryside to have a stop and relax. Good choice on craft beers and ciders, great atmosphere, really nice service!

Large roadside pub set in a somewhat isolated position, but with easy access from the M1. Inside it's a fairly traditional affair with three separate areas around a central bar. On that bar there is a good selection of ales, mainly from local, independent breweries such as Whim or Thornbridge, so it's no wonder this is a favourite haunt of the local branch of CAMRA. The main menu is on a blackboard so varies from day to day, and has a good range of interesting selections which are quite reasonably priced - I opted for an excellent Lamb Tagine. They also offer some more snack-type food options such as sandwiches, loaded chips and simple, inexpensive burgers, from a fixed menu.

Stayed at this pub overnight in our motorhome. We had a meal in the restaurant and it was delicious and so fresh. Would recommend this pub because the meal was so good. Staff were very friendly and helpful a great experience all round. Amazing.

On a motorhome tour from South Wales to Derbyshire and Yorkshire and after 1 week in we found the Arkwright Arms for a one night stopover and what a lovely find. We paid £10 for EHU and the pitch was free where we ate at the pub. The ladies behind the bar were very accommodating and helpful and with such a very clean tradition pub which served lovely food of traditional fare and with some dishes in thier own unique style and very good value for money. The pub was also very well attended by the locals and it reminded me of pubs of old when I was younger where it really felt like the centre of the village. Thank you ladies, you may see us again on our journey home.

Lovely big pub, good atmosphere and nice food. Staff are really nice and helpful. We parked our motorhome here for the night as well, only had to pay for electricity. Generally good value and worth a visit.

Come here for food a number of times, always superb food and lots of choice on the menu! The prices are very reasonable and portion sizes very generous! Staff really friendly and accommodating. Big outside seating area and also dog friendly, couldn’t recommend more!

First time here & loved it! Food was delicious & a huge portion for a very reasonable price, lovely coffee too. Will definitely be returning soon!

Probably the best burger I've had in years, battered chicken with jalapeño, black pudding and chorizo. Wierd but my epic mix. And the staff are outstanding

Nice pub, good selection of beetrs (no guiness) had jam roly poly, would be 5 stars but were a bit stingy with the custard.

Lovely food and plenty of it. Took our 2 Grandsons aged 14 and 17 for first time. They never stop eating, but we took a doggie box home today!!! All fresh cooked food and staff are great. Definitely recommend

We stayed one night in motorhome agreed arrival between 7-8 with dogs. On arrival 6.50 told no food from 7pm. Had driven 5 hours so back to van beans on toast. In pup fir drinks before bed. Good night sleep but not sure we would be back. Landlady uncaring. Obv do not want the business. Lost our on £60 spend.

Parked here for the night to break up a long drive home. The staff were friendly, really lovely and accomadating. Sadly we didn't get to try their food as they weren't doing food that night however they did allow us to bring fish and chips in from the local chippy. There was a warm, welcoming atmosphere, friendly locals, good conversation. The place looked nice and clean. There's ample parking a great, if slightly well worn, play area for the little people to run around too. Outdoor seating available, very reasonably priced and also dog friendly. I would recommend The Arkwright Arms and happily stop there again. 😁 Oh and the wine was perfect!

Always a good selection of beers cider gins etc, it's very good pub food, clean and tidy everything from a chip butty to a full meal local pies. never had a bad meal or left feeling hungry, staff excellent. check opening times as they do vary.

Stopped over in car park in the camper. Had dinner and some cider, of which there was a good selection . 😋. Service was friendly and attentive and all for a good price . 👍.

We went in here last night. Such a cosy old style traditional pub. It’s lovely inside and massive. The staff were very friendly. A good selection of alcohol especially the gin. Thank you so much ladies we’ll definitely be back again. We couldn’t rate the food as we went in, in the night time. But we’ll definitely try the food sometime. Always happy to break a journey up, this pub 3 mins from M1J29a. Good range of beers and real Cider/Perry for passengers. Food available at set times. Recently voted Chesterfield Camra pub of the year 2023.

Our first time here, good quality food, generous portions, the staff are very friendly and chatty. They have an extensive list of ciders and real ales. Will definitely be returning.

Our first time stopping here in our Motorhome,stayed for two nights, didn't need EHU so it was free to stay as long as you eat and drink in the pub, they do have EHU at £10, have an outside water tap. fairly flat carpark, no chocs needed. A bit of road noise during the day but is quiet at night. The pub has a huge selection of ciders, real ales and cask ales, we had a meal on both nights, the food was delicious, good portions, very friendly staff, nice and chatty. We don't have a dog but it is very dog friendly. We will definitely return.

What an absolute gem! Food was good and the portions were huge. Lovely, lovely beer on cask as well. 100% going back.

Great place to stop over with the motorhome

Great place for an overnight campervan stop. No food last night, Tuesday, but menu looks good and very reasonable. An excellent selection of craft beers and traditional ciders all very reasonably priced. Bar staff very friendly. Would definitely recommend for campervan stop, although a bit of traffic noise as next to a busy main road.

Absolutely brilliant place, by far my favorite place to eat out or go for a drink in chesterfield. Cathy and all the staff are fantastic

Absolute gem, keep passing this place so decided to pop in, couldn't see any cider on tap so I asked what they had, the lady behind the bar said take your pick from the board behind you, i was amazed at how many different types of cider they had. As soon as i read through the list there was one i had not had in many years and that was a famous welsh cider called Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon, this is a must have if you like a nice dry scrumpy cider!

Great stopover close to M1. Yes, there's traffic noise but earplugs fix that, and after 11pm traffic is virtually non-existent.

Only nipped in for a latte, which 2as very nice. The food menu looked really good so may be returning soon for some food

Went for Sunday lunch with a group of work colleagues, we were made to feel really the welcome, the food was excellent, every mouthful a pleasure and reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and helpful, highly recommend, we will all be returning for sure.

Stopped in our Motorhome on the way up North on a trip. A great “find”; lovely & clean interior; super staff & welcome; friendly locals & a smashing selection of well kept beers on offer -including gluten free options. A rarity. Dogs made to feel welcome too & we enjoyed it so much we stopped off again on the way back home! It will definitely become a “go to” for us.

Large graveled car park, though only 2 EHU, good price, staff friendly and welcoming, good variety of beers, excellent food at reasonable prices. I would highly recommend and will be back.

We love it here. There is always a good choice of real ales and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Large outdoor area for the kids to play in when the weather is good. Snooker room and restaurant at the back.

Really enjoyed my tea here last week. Good value and quality of food. The chips are amazing. Good selection on specials board. Looked like there was a good selection of beers and ciders (was driving unfortunately). Would definitely recommend and hopefully go again
