Always had good quality fish n chips from Shaws but on this occasion the chips were very greasy and had a terrible after taste.

First time I’ve been since the new owners took over and will definitely be back. Had a big slab of homemade meat & potato pie (they’re not shy with the portions) and the chips were spot on. Proper comfort food.

Great fish and chips but slow service. Last two times I’ve visited waited 25 minutes for fish and chips!! Staff not the quicker movers either.

Had the steak and onion special was 10/10 would recommend will definitely be back if mine town again

The shop atmosphere was relaxed, staff interaction was pleasant and food was delightful. An all round good service. Not to mention very clean. Thank you.

Decided to be generous and give Shaw’s 3 stars but 2.5 would be more accurate as 50% of the time the Fish is tasty and flakey with crispy batter, and the other 50% it’s wet slop wrapped in toilet paper. Test your luck, roll the dice. Will it be muck, or will it be nice? 🤡

All the food was fresh, with large portion sizes. Staff very friendly 😊 thank you, we will be back

Each and every time I go to Shaws, its professional from start to finish, the thinking lady (I'm sure she'll know who she is) is always polite and lovely to chat too. Now back to the food, we always order the 3 mini fish special, it's the best fish and chips I've ever bought. 10 out of 10 for us. Keep up the good work guy's.

Had large fish and chips,enough to feed 3 people, they were very delicious ,next time I will just have small cod special and will still take some eating.

These are by far the best fish and chips in south Sheffield. They are very careful and patient with the way they cook the food. Can't say the wait times for the food is as good as the food but it means the food is freshly cooked and somewhat worth the wait.👍👍

Food is average at best, staff inside are clueless as to what you asked for, long wait times for you order. Been here a few times now to see if it was just a bad day but no, it's every time. Don't bother.. go elsewhere

Always been my favourite fish and chip shop, but today the chips were terrible, they were cold dry and appeared double cooked, I really hope things improve there, feeling disappointed, gladly things have improved, last few times I've been the food has been exceptional, so hopefully just a blip

Cod lovely went just before they shut at 9 on Tuesday

Oh goodness.. I've just waited 25 minues for a small Cod Special. There were only 4 people in the shop waiting for their order so there's really no excuse for the delay.... Except for the staff who were woefully slow and didn't have enough sense to get the little orders sorted quickly while waiting for the larger orders to be cooked and instead processed orders in strict order and waited around for these to be cooked and cleared before moving onto mine. The food is ok, can't say any better than that as the fish and chips had been hanging around already cooked but not served. Get your staff and processes up to scratch..

I feel I must review shaws as I have done in the past.in recent times I have said its the best but over the recent times it has been sold and there are new owners running it still under the name shaws I have given this place three goes now and that's it I won't be going back really poor now so after going there for many years disappointingly that's me done

Not local to the area, called in for fish n chips, service very good , food even better great chips , nice white fish, and the batter was crisp, and tasty, definitely new chippy for when we're camping next time

so dissapointed, how can the best chippy in the area go downhill. I understand it has new owners - why spend a load of money buying a very sucsessful business to then drop the winning formulae? Just visited tonight, 18:30 so shoudl have had to queue. There was one person waiting, this shoudl have rung alarm bells. Fish - very average batter - nice but far too much, probably to make the fish look bigger? chips - attrocious - the dog had a few and walked off, I tried to eat a few but the stench of old oil was just too bad. They were limp, cold and tasted dreadful Curry - chip shop curry, hard to get wrong. What a shame a great chip shop has been ruined.

Went for lunch today absolutely rubbish. Cold chips fish was shocking. Never again It’s gone to pot since Richard left.

Just had fish and chips here absolutely horrendous...fish wasn't cooked and was off poor quality and chips were cold and left a terrible aftertaste obviously reheated! Avoid at all costs...

I visited Shaw's for the first time since it was taken over, the server was pleasant but the atmosphere in general was quiet compared previous, the batter on the fish was lovely, very crisp and light however the chips were very dry and had a strange after taste to them so I couldn't finish them. I liked the original Shaws, as I can struggle with some oil blends and I never had any issues following these, as they used their own family recipe blend oil, however I now need to find a new chippy 😔

Always considered this Fish & Chip shop the best in the area, we went for our usual mini fish special and how disappointed we were, the chips had obviously been warmed up, they were cold, dry and tasteless, the fish wasn't the usual quality and even the mushy peas were poor full of pea shells, how can a food establishment go down hill so fast

Dreadful. Chips were tastless & were like mash potatoe. Fishcake was also terrible. A big disappointment. I've heard they are under new ownership. This used to be one of the best chip shops around

Enjoyed my fish n chips last night.. portion was plentiful.. I ordered fish n chips, a fish cake (for the dog), a bag of scraps and a can of pop all for just over a tenner.. good value in this day and age

Big problem with order?lack of communication wrong order Very costly mistake Items taken back 1 minute after collection after noticing wrong order owners I presume stated would not take back would not resell due to time it was 4pm very unhelpful Will never visit again due to lack of customer service? The fish and batter isn't cooked as well as 3_5yeqr ago was outstanding but the last twice I'd give it an average but still GOOD

We decided to try Shaws again after being under new ownership. Food is still cooked to order, so be prepared to wait. The portions are huge but unfortunately the fish had very little flavour. Not sure if we'll be revisiting

With the new owners now firmly settled in my opinion is that the fish & chips are now better than ever. The batter is lighter & the small fish is larger than under the previous owners. People are always wary when someone new comes in and takes over an established business. Certainly no worries here. Keep up the great work.

Love this chippy only go now and again .Called tonight had fish special but the fish was very flat and not alot of chips . I bit into the fish and cut my gum as the batter was so hard . Not like it was last time I called

This fish and chip shop has gone downhill might have changed ownership both our meals had been cooked previously and warmed up over £12 not be going back

We were camping locally and wanted an easy evening meal after a long days walk. Found this local fish and chip shop via Google. The shop was clean and the staff very pleasant. Nice fish and chips, but personally would order smaller portions next time as the fish were rather large and so was the portion of chips. Sadly we were on the wrong day to benefit from the meal specials , but would definitely re-visit

The chips were nice , but they were ready for closing so obviously not much was left in the hot cupboard , my son wanted a battered sausage , but they don't do them , so he just had a large chip shop sausage , they are more like giant hotdogs , but he said it was nice , not my usual chip shop we were just passing through and on our way home after visiting a friend in the area .the staff were friendly the shop was clean and tidy .the prices were reasonable especially due to the cost of living prices at the current moment .

What's happened with this takeaway? It used to be the best fish & chip shop in the area, has it changed hands. We got a baby fish meal which we waited ages for, think they forgot to put them in the fryer and the portions were definitely smaller, had bones in which in 8 yrs of going I never had that before at Shaws. Chips weren't nice either. Think it's time to find another F/C takeaway now if this is the usual standard.

We had Shaw's last week as we haven't had it for a while and fancied a treat. I wondered why it was so quiet when I walked in. Only one person waiting. To be told that it had been sold on 6 months previous. The fish was extremely soft and it wasn't cod. All cooked fresh but afraid we won't be returning.

Has shaws changed ownership?!!. The chips were lovely!!. The gravy and curry sauce stone cold and lumpy and the fish cake was terrible !!. What’s happening it used to be the best chippy in killamarsh!!.

Says open until 9pm arrived at 7:30pm to find shop closed?

I have been getting the pie special for about a year and always felt full and satisfyd after now they have new staff and the portion's have got smaller if this doesn't get better next time I will be going elsewhere

Small chips £1.70 for half as much as what you would get at admiral and then I paid £5.80 for a large cod that looked like a goldfish. Less than half the size of an admirals fish and more expensive. Never going back here it's an absolute rip off all under the guise of "traditional" unless you're on a diet and got money to burn don't bother.

Chips was amazing but the fish was vile I ordered the large cod in which the batter was very thick and soggy I ordered around 12.15 so I imagine that the fish had been sat since the shop opened? Cook to order is the way forward.

Best chippy round these parts imho- we drive past another three to get to it! Unless you have a huge appetite go for the 'small' portions because their small = large in most other chippies I've been to. Pies are home made and very nice they are too.
