Solo comimos una vez allí, pero habíamos jurado que si estuviéramos en el distrito en el futuro sería nuestro lugar al que ir. La comida en nuestra visita estaba bien preparada y bien presentada, y esperamos volver. Qué vergüenza para ellos.

Good food if pricey. Service mixed but it was only days before they closed down. They shut the kitchen at 8pm so we were told no dessert available. Shame.

Such a shame these guys haven’t hit the mark. The meal we ate would have just about passed if we’d paid pub grub prices but rock hard butter, tasteless terrine, balsamic glazed everything...cold over-cooked steak burger, over cooked fish, bizarre combinations, didn’t even take the cap off the wine never mind pour it. Paper napkins and no finesse of any sort. Staff were largely abrupt (except one lovely bubbly lady).

Took my mum for lunch today to celebrate my new job. The charcuterie starter was on the whole very nice. The balsamic in the oil would be better seperate. The herb butter I would swear was margarine not butter. The steak main was ok. The steak was flavour less and lots of juices were swimming on the plate I can only assume was due to the meat having not been rested prior to being served. Creme brulee was delish as always. No need for ice cream on the side. Merlot was cold not room temp. Sophie our waitress was sweet and attentive as was another lady who was smartly dressed, dark hair. Maybe Manager. All in all a shame. Not worth the 70 odd notes i paid!!!

I ordered a chargrilled chicken sandwich which didn't taste anything like. It had been pan fried and was still shiny in parts from the fat plus it was covered in lots of black bits. These looked as though they'd come from the pan itself. I can't imagine it could have been that much black pepper as there was no mention of it. The chips-jenga, were soggy and didn't have a pleasant taste. The dollop of rocket on the plate was wet and uninspiring. If you want to make a success of this pub, at least get the basics right. The staff were pleasant but there was no check back during the meal & only a passing enqiry as the plates were collected at the end of the meal.

From the outside, The Brook is a large stunning mock Tudor style building set apart and on its own. When you walk inside it's like entering a grand hotel, so spacious and the interior design is stunning. My friend is a regular there and recommended it so strongly I had to see for myself. We were warmly welcomed and for the duration of our stay, we were very well looked after by the attentive staff. We had "The Pie" which I must say lived up to its reputation. A generous succulent Steak & Ale pie full of tender chunks of steak and encased in a hand raised crispy hot water crust pastry, tasty beef gravy and delicious creamy mash with a selection of fresh vegetables. It was worth traveling for and I will certainly go again.

We are local to this restaurant so thought we'd give it a try since it had just re-opened. The lady on the bar was extremely welcoming, we were a little early for our reservation so had a drink in the bar before being seated. The refurb that the pub has undergone is lovely however, that's the last good comment I can make in this review. We booked for 7:30pm our order was taken quickly but it took until 8pm until we received our starters. When they did arrive we had to send back, my partner ordered the pigeon breast which was so over done he could barely cut through it. As we wanted to eat together I asked to send my starter back and receive another when the new pigeon was ready. After 10-15 minutes we received our starters again which we did eat due to being hungry but we had the following issues with: scallops were cold and the pigeon still overcooked and we chewed on a piece of shot. When we raised the issue about the shot the waitress apologised and went to speak with the kitchen who just said it was normal due to the pigeon being wild, now I accept that fact but there really should be a warning on the menu or at point of placing your order for this dish. While waiting for our main course we witnessed several complaints about the food and serve and one table in particular received their meal but we're waiting a further 10 minutes for the accompanying sauce to arrive, another table of actually left before eating any food because they'd waited so long for any food to arrive. We waited over half an hour for our main before we decided to call our loses and leave. We really wanted this place to be our local go to place for eating out but unfortunately we will not be going back.

This is the first visit since becoming The Brook and what a lovely surprise. As you walk through the door it is warm and welcoming and the young lady behind the bar was just as welcoming. The food was excellent. Liver and Onions for my husband and I had the pear and blue cheese tart which I understand is made to order. Both meals were visually pleading and tasted even better. The young waitress was very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Definitely would go back and definitely recommend. Only reason a 4* and not a 5* is I feel we should have been told tart was made to order and therefore our meal would take a little longer. Didn't bother us as we weren't in a hurry but just felt it was a point to mention.

Fantastic service both before and during the lunchtime meal by an attentive, friendly and extremely professional team. Thanks to Damian and Jayne in particular for accommodating us but also for re-opening our local favourite venue which to date has shown a return to the high standards we had come to associate with the Brook / Inn at Troway / Black A Moor as it has been over the past decade. The weather was snowy so the largish pub was quite quiet. Three of us ordered the liver and onions from the “Light Lunch” menu and it was delightful; well cooked liver and the portion size was spot on. My wife went for the Cumberland sausage and mash which she said was very good. I had a couple of pints of very good Belgian Blue, and the Eaton Mess for pud was great. Visited over the weekend after their move from cock and magpie , the place is a lovely venue but needs a little re think, the lighting is way too bright and needs toning down the tables are too large and seating in bar area not very comfy to sit for a while . We were immediately greeted and staff were lovely although it took some time for drinks and menu. After choosing the charcuterie platter we were slightly disappointed the bread which was dry and cold and the chorizo quite thickly sliced with only the addition of prosciutto ham and few olives with a nondescript onion chutney. We fared better with mains my pork belly and scallops was lovely with crisp cracking and a tasty mash although the scallops could have been seared better. My partners surf and turf was overwhelming in size with a decent steak and scallops and prawns well cooked and tasty, again scallops could be more caramelised ? Were scallops needed ? Prawns would be better in a garlic butter ? Veg was ok.

My friend always the very much traditional had the cod and chips and pea puree , thoroughly enjoyed on both occasions . Leaving no room for puddings thank you.The pricing structure in my opinion is spot on , for all the surroundings , exquisite quality food and the service.Keep up the good works. We shall be back soon.Anne W

Although the waitress was lovely when I asked her for some more veg she said we would have to pay extra we knew the price was 16.50 each for the meal didn't bother we all thought it extremely strange it was empty when we walked in. Wish I had read these reviews before as I wouldn't have bothered!!Atmosphere was zero, there is no children's menu, service was the slowest I've ever experienced, the beer was sour (and I do mean sour) and the food was rubbish! Not one single redeeming feature and a total waste of money. Management should read some of these comments because they are all spot on accurate, will indeed be closed in 6 months if nothing changes. Just had lunch at the Brook, (previously Inn At Trowey) food was horrendous, ordered a club sandwich which should have included smoked chicken, bacon, fried egg and hand cut chips. The sandwich was stone cold, the smoked chicken was a couple of thin slices of cold garlic sausage, the bacon was too crisp, think it was the stuff you buy ready cooked in packets. dry white sliced bread poorly toasted plum tomatoes were ordinary tomatoes, hand cut chips were cheap frozen french fries, and no fried egg. Didn't pay for it. The worst club sandwich I have ever had, £9.99. Don't go near the place its a joke, and it wont still be there in 6 Months.

We came here as a couple to try the pub under its new ownership. My first impression was that the staff have had very little training, the lad that served us struggled with the till with no one to help him. A pint of San Miguel and a small Diet Coke (less than half a pint bottle) £6.50! We asked for a table and then we're left to find where to go ourselves (luckily we have been before so we knew where to go)I ordered fish pie & my partner had bangers & mash, we were left with the menus on the table after ordering which I found a bit strange.A few things on the menu were strange, a sharing stater - baked Camembert & bread etc £15! But then a sharing charcuterie board was under £10? Seems like the prices were the wrong way around. Our food - I have to say the food was lovely, apart from finding a fish bone in my fish pie - very off putting. The sausage and mash was lovely with the Hendersons in the gravy. Could do with a portion of veg with it though. The waiter forgot to ask us for sauces etc but I could see he hadn't been trained to & a young girl waitressing was doing her best to help him & she was brilliant from what I observed. Overall my general feeling is more time needs to go into training & having a senior member of staff on the floor would definitely help. The pub is done out beautifully but the staff need training - we will visit again as it wasn't the staffs fault & the food was lovely.

We used to love coming to The Troway and thought we'd give it a try under new management. Disorganised young staff left us standing 5-10 minutes for our booked table. We were only allowed to choose from the Sunday menu . Both my partner and I chose the pork Sunday dinner. It was cold and the pork was pink/bloody. Sent it back and received a new meal without much improvement. Prices are now higher than they used to be for less quality - 2 lunches and 2 drinks for £35.50. Wouldn't recommend nor will we return, especially with competition like the Mossbrook Inn down the road. Disappointed.

I ate here with my family in July to celebrate my birthday. The food was delicious and the pub is in beautiful surroundings.Staff wasn't overly attentive but was still polite and helpful. Had some altercations with the bill when we was about to leave. Quickly highlighted that our waitress had taken a card payment for £30 but only imputed £3 on the till, leaving the overall bill £27 even though everyone's card receipts added up to over the total bill. Waitress seemed unsure about this and had to call a manager but had problems finding him / her. We waited around 15 mins, before we had to leave and left contact details for the manager to get in touch if they needed our card receipts.Never heard from anyone which I believe was poor customer service, expected a phone call to apologise for the inconvenience. Since this visit I also found out if dining on a birthday with 6 or more people the birthday girl should receive a free meal / fizz / cake. I checked the T&C to this and we had met all the requirements but was never made aware of this offer even though it was very clear to all staff this was for a birthday... Birthday balloons, birthday cake, presents etc. I was a little annoyed to find this out after.I believe the Inn at Troway has recently closed and re opened under new management.I will be returning to give this place another whirl and hope new management and staff are what this place needs!

Popped in here for a quick lunch. Had the chicken ceasar salad and the sharing platter. The clue should have been in the title - ie sharing platter! der! Platter was lovely very tasty, but way too much!Salad - as you can see from the photo, lots of lettuce. To be honest would have preferred a smaller plate and less lettuce, was like wading through a forest.. there was chicken in there but buried under all the lettuce. The dressing was thick and gloopy and barely there, I had to ask for some more to make it less dry.All in all, quick efficient service, nice food, we have been here lots of times before and its great for what it is, nothing special, just good bistro pub food.Great parking, nice deck outside with lovely views, nice conservatory to sit in. Lots of local hand pulled ales. Staff are very friendly.

Went here at a last minute spontaneous decision rather than cook at home because it was late. We had waiter service here which was good. I ordered the steak burger and the food came pretty quickly. When it came at first I was a bit alarmed as some blood was running out with the juices but obviously with it being a steak burger that's ok. I took my mind off the blood and started eating, it was very tasty and full of flavour. Everyone else enjoyed their meal as well and it all looked good. A nice selection of deserts too. Definately worth going 'in' at the Troway.

We enjoyed our visit to the Inn at Troway on a Tuesday evening. We were greeted in a friendly manner and had a drink in the bar. The barman suggested a nice local beer to try, which we did happily. The waitress who brought us our food was efficient and there were no problems. The views from the beer garden are fantastic, although we didn't actually notice this till the way out. Definitely something for next time

I took my wife here for a nice meal as we were staying nearby and wanted a great pub meal. Having researched a few places in the area, this pub won and so we head down to check it out. We were both amazed at what we found. The views from the pub car park were incredible. It was a full on view across the rolling hills and in the post rain sunshine it gave us both a great start to our experience. We were offered a nice table in the part overlooking the view and it was fairly busy for a mid-week meal, but when we got our food we understood why. Living in London and being foodies, my wife and I have high expectations and this really did meet them. The meals were very well presented and mine tasted even better. I asked for a recommendation on a local ale and was given one which I later went to make a visit to the brewery (that's how much I liked it). My wife was less of a fan of her main meal as I think she had expected something more spicy (it was a lamb kofta dish which was a special for the day), but enjoyed the rest of her meal.Overall, I would say that for anyone in the area or visiting the Peak District, this is a must see. We unfortunately were too stuffed to try their house speciality pecan pie and had hoped to go back the next day, but unfortunately our plans changed, but we will definitely be making a trip back at some point in the future to give it a try.

I visited with a group of work colleagues for dinner. The decor is very nice and views are stunning. The menu had a good selection and all of our meals were very tasty and obviously good quality ingredients. The downside was the rudest waitress I have encountered, her manner was unhelpful, disinterested and quite sarcastic. I would not visit here again and would serious suggest the waitress involved considers a career change!!

Thank you! This was def one of the nicest meals we had at this restaurant (and we have been here many many times with some good / average and very poor experience) It was nice to see somebody in charge of personnel and the service and to ensure customers where happy and treated correctly even after an issue was raised!Smoked salmon started was lovely (the poached egg could have been better) and the hake main was delicious! Liver pate was nice - could have come with some butter and beef brisket was enjoyed a lot by my partner (I found it a bit dry) ...... Still not sure if everybody should get some bread and dip to the table as we where missed again - one table next to us got it - the other one also didn't get it - so no idea! Gin menus needs to be back on the tables please!

We used to visit the pub fairly regularly when it was called the Blackamoor.Had a meal There back in May, my wife had salt & pepper squid as a starter and seabream, I tried the garlic mushrooms followed by lamb shank. The food was cooked to perfection and the service warm and friendly and at the right pace. The visit today with our friends phoned this morning to book a table in the conservatory. Arrived on time, warm welcome by the staff had a drink in the bar prior to sitting down for the meal. We ordered our food starters salt & pepper squid for me and our male friend the girls ordered smoked salmon and tiger prawn linguini. The squid turned out to be battered squid rings which seemed just like the frozen type you buy in the supermarket and over cooked ie tough. The girls starters they really enjoyed them. Main course my wife and our female friend ordered of the specials board seafood linguini, our female friend ordered Chicken, our male friend ordered seabream i choose the piggy mixed grill the seafood linguini came cooked with chilli (not advertised) my wife cannot eat chilli it causes a painful reaction in her mouth ,no problem the dish was changed straight away without any qualms ( had to wait while it was cooked without chilli), my mixed grill was one of the poorest I have ever had thin pork chop and thin gammon both very dry and small piece of chorizo which was burnt thin slice of black pudding and I mean thin, cocktail 3 sausages supermarket type and 1 sausage not as good as the supermarkets the egg and chips were OK. Our friends and my wife enjoyed their food with the exception of the squid, I did not enjoy any of my meal. I did not wish to complain as being out with friends, I was reluctant to make them feel we had taken them to a restaurant that served poor quality food.I have given four stars as our previous meal was very good . The location is fantastic and the staff warm, welcoming and friendly. I will go back to the place as one bad meal will not put me off this restaurant.

We used to visit here regularly although it's probably about 18 months since we've been and we were really disappointed. Other reviews on here seem to suggest that the quality and service is much reduced. The menu had barely changed and although there was a good selection of 'special' mains on there, none particularly took my fancy. Oh and being pedantic there were so many spelling mistakes on the chalk board it looked very unprofessional. It was fairly quiet which made the constant stomping round of a sour-faced woman (I'm guessing manager) so much more obvious. I opted for the sausage and mash with Yorkshire pudding and onion gravy. The pudding tasted as though it had been cooked, frozen and then warmed up as it was pretty tough. The sausages were nice tasting but the gravy spoilt the entire dish. It was sticky and unbelievably sweet, more like a marmalade than a savoury gravy. Hubby opted for a steak and ale pie which tasted ok but barely had any filling. Both our meals were so hot it seems as though they had, at least in part, been microwaved. The desserts were better except the shortbread was far from being 'short' but the creme brule was good. It's not somewhere we'll be returning to in a hurry. It's a real shame as it has so much potential.

We visited the Inn with two Spanish customers. We were warmly welcomed by the waitress who was really helpful. Five of us dined out and we all had a great meal. The appetisers of crackling went down well along with the salt and peppered squid. Mains were a split of burgers, pie and linguine. No complaints from our party. We were well and truly full. The local beers went down well with our visitors as well. Overall it's a reasonably priced menu, not the cheapest, but the quality and quantity are more than adequate. Thanks.

Not really a great experience this time. 4 of us visited. we had starters which were quite nice. Main meals - Steak pie was just a dish with a suet pie lid on top - although it was apparently quite tasty. My burger was greasy and the chips not up to the usual standard. Service was slow despite the place being almost empty. Were served a board with pieces of bread on and a dip by a waiter who mumbled something as he plonked it on our table and left!!! 1/5 for service Im afraid ! There was some sort of fire in the kitchen as these was a thick smell of smoke which was quite off putting which was rectified by the waiter only when we asked what had happened by him opening the windows behind us.The place lacked any atmosphere - not good for a bank holiday Sunday. They could do with cleaning the toilets too - paper towels all over the floor....Other places near here do much better these days Im afraid.

Stunning view in a well presented eating area. Staff are extremely helpful and polite. The food was tasty and good sized portions. Like a previous review the pie would have been better on a plate as although it did look nice it was awkward to eat but very very tasty. Puddings were also very nice. Will definitely visit again. Well worth a visit.

Have been many times, recently on Sunday afternoon and had reserved a particular table. Attentive staff soon sorted out our nibbles for starters and 4 different mains. I had the Brisket which was perfect and came with mash, others had various Sunday roasts although there was no mash only roasts. All thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will return. One small criticism, the bar guy was a not really that welcoming and a bit surly and has been on previous visits, a smile might help, maybe I'm nit-picking

Arrived here after a recommendation from a friend and was generally impressed, both had nice meals and service was fine only bad thing was the amount of things on your plate, I'm not sure when you have a pie you need the pie in its pot, the peas in a gravy boat and the chips in a small bucket rather than all just on the plate to mix together.

Nice pub set out in the countryside between dronfield and eckington. We visited late evening on a Tuesday night and the pub was quiet, but were greeted with a friendly staff and given a choice of any seats/tables. Pub is a typical pub from the outside but is nicely decorated and cosy inside, there is also a conservatory attached to the rear of the pub for seating which is nice during the day as the views are lovely but you can't really see that at night. The food is mostly pub grub and is slightly more than average price i'd say - however the quality is very good. I had the braised beef which was large and tasty and my fiancé had the pie and roast potatoes which was also very good. We've been here a few times and will definitely return.

Visited with my mum as we had the opportunity to have lunch together and being in the area on what was one of the nicer sunny Spring days so far this year we decided here would be nice regardless of how great the food was. We were both pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food was and by the generous portions, so much that I didn't eat anything else that evening, chips were just how I like them! A pleasant view in a relaxed pub with good food - would recommend.

Staying in Middle Handley for a few days and our host recommended this pub/restaurant for an evening meal. Four of us went and enjoyed the food and the panoramic views. My partner and I had the veggie main and the sticky toffee pudding is wonderful. We had two servers during the evening, one more polite than the other. Cost £80 including a tip which I thought was quite good value for money. Had a lovely evening and would return if and when in the area again.

Been to this pub twice recently. Very nice decor and the view if you can get a table in the conservatory section is lovely. The food is good and reasonable value albeit nothing incredible. Recommended for a casual pub lunch in a nice setting.

Came across this place as a party of 6 looking for a place to eat on Easter Monday at 12 noon. Met by a very pleasant lady who was more than happy to move tables around for us even though they were going to be busy with bookings. The table she gave us was by the window with the most amazing view which was wonderful. The menu was extensive with a variety of options and was affordable and the food was good, no complaints! Will definitely be back! Thank you to all the staff!

This was our first visit for many years and we were not disappointed. The menu offers a range of foods to cater for all tastes and the price of the food reasonable. Additionally they have a specials board which all appear very tempting. The serving team were very good, giving us time to order and ensuring we had drinks when we needed them. The food when it arrived was cooked very well and well presented. Will be going here again

Although really busy, we were shown to a lovely table in the conservatory. The staff were very attentive. There was an offer on of fish meals for £10 inc a drink. We both had fish, chips, mushy peas, bread and butter with a glass of rose. It was cooked well. The chips were hand cut. The whole meal was perfect. I loved the Pete McKee art work on the walls. My friend has been loads of times and has never been disappointed. I will definitely be returning.

Three of us ate an excellent lunch this Good Friday. Service was attentive without being over bearing; whilst waiting for our main meal we were served with complimentary bread and oil/balsamic as well as our drinks. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. Top end pub prices but worth every penny. Lots of choice including daily specials and "chippy Friday" selection which was a real bargain at only £10 for the meal and a drink.

We love it here, its local, the food and service are good and have been loads of times, though visited again after a few months break. Came here for a late lunch and there was a new menu. Lacked the 'oompf' of previous menus - especially the specials board - it just wasn't as exciting as usual and seemed a bit formulaic . The quality hasn't gone down, so that's good !

Delicious food and always great beer here. The staff are lovely and the buildings are beautifully kept both inside and out. Outside, there's a nice beer garden and a covered wooden decked area which is lovely on a summer's evening with the "Crooked Spire" of Chesterfield visible in the distance. The log burner makes the inside toasty in the colder months and the low ceilings, oak beams and pretty lighting create a lovely atmosphere. The Blue Bell Inn is definitely worth a visit.

We have used the tea room quite a number of times in the past,we went there on Saturday afternoon about 1545,picked a table and food and went to order,2 adults and a child afternoon tea,it was now about 1550,and was told sorry,we stop taking irders at 1530?!?,at this point I said thank you very much and left with my family. Why are they open until 1700 and stop taking orders at 1530?!? It wasn’t as if we had asked for hot food, which I could understand! Was very disappointed,on the up side we found a very nice place on the way home who did manage to do a very nice afternoon tea for us,so all was not lost!👍🏻
