Loved this place, nice food and atmosphere. Even ate my egg white and not eaten one of those for years!

The beer that I had was dire! Absolutely disgusting, I couldn't drink it and I don't like confrontation so I left it and walked out..... I'll never go back there .

Me and my now wife had our wedding breakfast and reception at the bluebell. The food, staff and setting were perfect. We had so many compliments from our guest's about the venue and their food with some saying they will return for a meal in the future. Everything from start to finish was exactly how we wanted and some. Couldn’t recommend enough!!

The Wobbly Wanderer was here with a friend as our usual watering hole was too noisy. We have both known the Pub for well over 40 years. It's very well kept and the beer is cheaper than our usual haunt. It's quite a busy venue which is a good sign.

Rubbish The carvery was horrible it was cold And all overdone We weren't told there was only carvery available. 1 of our party of 12 had nothing to eat As he doesn't eat meat or veg Asked if they would do him a plate of chips NO. Very unhelpful Won't be going back. Wheelchair access a joke it's a fire door With a mat over it. Bad service spent most of there time behind the till as our plates piled up

Arrived as a last minute camper van stop. Phoned ahead and confirmed and all was ok. Arrived at 5pm. The staff were so friendly, letting us park wherever we needed, and despite being fully booked offered to find us a table later. However being a Saturday, Sun shining, full of families and kids playing outside we decided not to push them further. Therefore we asked if we could have food and take it to the van. Not only did they accommodate, they offered to bring it directly to the van. It was hot and delicious. Every member of staff have been amazing, despite being super busy, couldn’t do enough for us. Pub is lovely in side, very friendly atmosphere, in a beautiful setting with stunning views. Plenty for the kids to do with a large play area and lots of outdoor seating. The meals were really generous in size. Very good value for money, being in a reasonable price range. No wonder they were flat out. We can’t praise this pub highly enough. The staff are a credit to the management, and the restaurant/bar is superb. Thanks for having us. Would definitely come again and highly recommend this place.

Really reasonably priced carvery at £11.95. Food looks pretty ordinary but tastes really nice. Restaurant area is a bit like a cross between a church hall and a canteen, but there's plenty of space, which is great as it's (rightfully) popular. Staff are nice. I would certainly go back for the carvery next time I'm up that way.

Service very slow waiting over 40 minutes for our food and pub not that busy, steak pie over cooked or been under a lamp for a while burnt on edge and very hard crust

Lovely place, first time I've been here, always wanted to come here as i love the location. The meal I had was absolutely delicious, cooked very well and a good size. Service was good. Staff very friendly..Will definitely return. Highly recommended. Thank you so much.

Fair range of pub food, cooked to a good standard

Great food, great service and well priced

Been left poorly the next day after drinking here, and to clarify, it wasn’t a hangover… there’s been a few times now where I’ve called in for a single pint or a couple after a dog walk and been left feeling very ill after drinking the Guinness here.

We are new to the area and we went to Blue Bell Inn for their Sunday carvery. It did not disappoint. Quite possibly the best carvery I’ve had. Portions sizing was perfect, could ask for more meat or veg etc if you wanted. We’ve recently seen they do Quiz & Bingo on a Thursday evening which we will be attending😊

Friendly pub in an old building

Made a telephone call on Monday 22nd April and booked an evening meal for 4 for 7.15pm on Wednesday 24th April. Arrived at 7.05pm to be told that they had stopped serving at 7pm and everything had been put away so no meal was to be had so we had to find another pub for a meal. Can't anyone in this country get anything right ? It would help if the times of serving meals where added to the website as well as just the opening hours. A poor show.

Delicious food and always great beer here. The staff are lovely and the buildings are beautifully kept both inside and out. Outside, there's a nice beer garden and a covered wooden decked area which is lovely on a summer's evening with the "Crooked Spire" of Chesterfield visible in the distance. The log burner makes the inside toasty in the colder months and the low ceilings, oak beams and pretty lighting create a lovely atmosphere. The Blue Bell Inn is definitely worth a visit.

We booked 3 weeks in advance for Sunday roast after reading all these reviews.2 pm was our slot but no table was available for us so we waited a good half hour and still no table,we had to sit in bar area in the end.Sorry to say but the food is not the best around Chesterfield for £12 per person.Very small portions of meat,beef cut tissue thin, my wife had to ask for a extra slice,chicken 2 slices the size of a digestive biscuit quiet dry,pork was just a few chunks dropped on my plate,the stuffing was tiny an tough,mash very runny and the plastic wrapping on the spoon was disgusting not sure why it was there,the roast potatoes were just par boiled in a inch of oil no golden crisp as they should be.The lady carving should have a hair cover.👩‍🍳..Many thanks to the young lady who tried her best to get us seated.

Lovely place. The carvery was 10 out of 10. Pricing is the best around. The only slight negative was the portion of stuffing was very little but other than that I would highly recommend.

Not up to it's usual standard. Roast potatoes, yorkers and coliflower cheese weren't up to scratch. Suspect it was due to being so busy so may be better when they start having roasts on a Wednesday as well as Sunday.

Had a steak and ail pie the pastry was so old and hard had trouble breaking onto the pie out of 10 /2 I give it. The apple pie and custard was very nice. For the dinner it's self very mediocre.

We go every Sunday for a carvery with different people. Staff are brilliant and food is always good and generous meat servings.

Absolutely beautiful period building turned British pub. Great choice of draught beers.

The bar dates from the 1400s and has a cosy atmosphere. There is a sympathetic yet contrasting modern restaurant extension which serves a regular pub menu but to a high standard. Pizzas look made on site, the pie was a slice rather than a microwave ping version. Service was friendly and efficient, but it wasn’t busy during our visit. I’ll be back!

Ordered a pint of John Smiths and 2 Double Baileys. Ordered this 3 times. The first and third order were £2.40 more than the middle round and the measures of Baileys were significantly less. The bar staff refunded the difference for 1 order but we were still short measured and overcharged overall.

We had the Christmas menu and food was beautiful. Service was fantastic. No complaints at all. Would certainly recommend 👌

Been here with daughter and wife me and wife had fish and chips the daughter had lasagne the food was amazing had sticky toffee pudding that was amazing too and that's not all the electric went off now not many people know this but there's a legend in the blue bell the blue lady it says just before she appears the lights flicker and go out unfortunately she didn't appear but it was in the day Anyway the blue bell is well worth a visit the food and staff are amazing 🤩🤩

Wonderful place, had my mums wake here, they really looked after us and the food and service was excellent. The function room is large and modern..definitely recommend this place

I haven't been here since a funeral some years ago so my friend booked it. A very dated pub that allows dogs 🐕everywhere!! So it was a bit off putting when went in but the girl that served us was very helpful and quick. We were definitely not disappointed with the food,it was really good and the chips 🍟 were really nice!! Very reasonably priced as well. Very lovely lunch and we will be back again. 👍🏻👍🏻.

Just been to the Blue Bell for a Sunday Carvery. And it was really good couldn’t complain about anything on my plate at all and the price was few good. Well worth the visit just one small complaint it was very hot in the dining area. I noticed a few people complaint how uncomfortably hot it was. But apart from that I will definitely be back

I had fish chips and peas husband had fish and chips and daughter had chips and lasagne it was lovely we enjoyed it and the pudding was nice we had chocolate Brownie and ice-cream and it was fantastic we had a very cheerful waitress and we will see you soon

Hopefully this was just a bad day as I'd previously heard that the Blue Bell was an excellent place to eat. We went for a family meal (7 Adults & 2 Children and got served 2 steak meals cooked the wrong way 'round and an Adults chicken meal that was dry, fortunately I had the Scampi which was cooked really nice, with homemade chips and garden peas. All in all an ok experience but would have liked to have enjoyed it more Would definitely go back as like I said hopefully just a one off

The food is always absolutely lovely. Been several times, it’s always a safe bet for a good meal and had various things off the menu and it’s always been spot on (especially the Brie wedges). I like the old style decor in the bar area and it has a nice atmosphere. I prefer the quiz here as I actually have a chance of getting some questions right (!) and the chip butties are a nice touch. Only reason for 4 stars is my strong preference for the bar area as opposed to the restaurant section as I find that area lacks a bit of atmosphere and feels a bit clinical where more could be made of that with time

Well what has happened to the Blue Bell .There's no atmosphere whatsoever and bar staff didn't make eye contact too busy on her phone . Mum nd Alan had 2 of the lunch menu their starters were OK but then came main course. I had Dirty fries well it came Theresa's suppose to be sour cream cheese sauce and pulled pork there wasnt any of them instead came fries with style bacon bits Mums gammon was very underdone really but cooked very gristly. All chips we rather burnt .We always loved going her but I'm afraid to say we'll be giving it a kiss for a while .

Excellent homemade food at very reasonable prices

What an excellent pub the blue bell is! Evie who works behind the bar is very friendly and welcoming, ruby who hosted the quiz is very polite, Lyla is very helpful and has a bright personality. All the other staff are very chirpy. I will definitely be back!

This is a wonderful pub and restaurant we took my mother in law for lunch yesterday it was a very warm welcoming environment we had a wonderful 3 course meal that was very good the waffle 🧇 was a little over on the dessert for me but everything else was amazing and best of all they allow dogs into the pub I was babysitting my daughters dog so it was great it's in a lovely spot tucked outthe way at the top of there carpark. the bk of the pub has a patio eating area to that leads onto an old cemetery for the 1800s which is beautiful and very interesting the staff couldn't have been nicer will definitely be going bk again What an asset to North Wingfield

1st time visiting the Blue Bell Inn. Went with family members. Picked it because it was dog friendly and had good reviews. We were not disappointed. It was in a lovely setting. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. The food was very good. I would definitely recommend it and would go again

I have only just recently started to come to this pub and I would just like to say what a lovely place!!! The staff are absolutely amazing and very welcoming. I would like to give a very special shout-out to the girl who does the quiz what a wonderful lady she makes it very fun and exciting and very polite towards everyone :)

Lunch time, so very quiet. Nice staff and the food was lovely. Dog friendly.

Have been numerous times and I like the place and the food. However some of the staff on the latest visit were a mess. The girl who reads out the quiz is repeatedly a bit useless - why they have her do it I do not know. There was then another girl with presumably her male friends in there who were loud and obnoxious with feet on the table. But it was she who came into them to tell them some gossip about one of their friends getting ‘a semi’ whilst having some massage! Disgraceful in the presence of a couple of younger teenagers and a child that were in earshot out with their family

The best value for money lunch we've had in ages. We got the impression that quality is of order of the day. The pub itself is well laid out and spotlessly clean throughout. A bonus for me was none alcoholic lager on draught, also large car park. Well done to all concerned with the pub.

Such a gorgeous setting for a pub lunch on a sunny day! Helpful bar staff and the food was tasty (especially the chips). However, it was REALLY disappointing to find there was only ONE vegetarian (and NO vegan) options on the menu !! Yes, the only thing I could have to eat was a cheese and Branston wrap with chips and salad. Meanwhile, there were well over 20 meat and fish options. Would love to visit again but won't be doing so whilst there is literally no choice in things I can eat ! Pretty much every other pub/eatery I've been to has at the very least 2 veggie options. To add veggie sausages as a choice (with mash and peas) doesn't take much if you're already serving sausage and mash, for example. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Found this on a drive out, by accident really , but what a find. We decided to have a 2 course lunch option at £12.99, lots of different choices and big portions too. We will definitely return as I have eventfully found (after years of looking ) the perfect steak and ale pie there 😀great value for money , with professional friendly staff in a nice spot with outside space for when it’s a bit warmer .wish we d found this sooner

Pretty poor. Mashed potato you could use to fill in the potholes on the road was replaced with severely overcooked chips. Gravy from packet mix that was a jug of gelatinous lumps. Lovely tasting steak pie slice spoiled by dried up overcooked sides from being reheated. Very disappointed 😞 On the bright side a good pot of tea and young staff were lovely and polite and very attentive quickly made amends after complaints.

Nice pub restaurant very clean smart furniture and decor. Staff very professional and welcoming good choice of food on the menu nice outside area and nice views. A very nice place to visit.

We only popped in for a quick drink to see what it's like as we're moving to the area in a few months. Looked lovely, as was the girl behind the bar. The only downside is that there was a terrible stench of urine when I passed the men's toilets to go to the female loos. My husband said it didn't actually smell the same in the men's loos so not sure where the smell originates. Apart from that, it seems like a lovely pub and restaurant so we'll definitely be back when we move there.

Didn't have any of the 4meals we wanted, no steaks or mixed grills, or scampi only really had fish and chips and we weren't overly impressed especially for the price. Despite having no food after we'd booked in 3weeks prior the staff were all lovely and made up for abit of a let down birthday celebration. We've visited here since 1990s and sadly I don't think we'll be returning again after this. Ihave rated the Blue Bell Inn because they want to start and train bar staff better at pulling a better pint pint especially real ale . We went the other day i had a pint of Chatsworth Gold and half of lager which when we got a table it had gone flat 😅 only to be taken back and to my wifes dismay put in another glass and topped up with a different lager. Then when we got home home only having had 2 drinks a piece i started being relly ill vomiting. Just to say it will be a long time before i go back again

I am a regular customer,however, after visiting yesterday I was shocked at the behavior of the customers there were children running wild all over the place rolling about on the floor they were at the bar. The children were climbing on the furniture and had...

Bar staff friendly, the larger was flat, she did change glass still no better .should be good drink when when you paying £5 a time
