We have used the tea room quite a number of times in the past,we went there on Saturday afternoon about 1545,picked a table and food and went to order,2 adults and a child afternoon tea,it was now about 1550,and was told sorry,we stop taking irders at 1530?!?,at this point I said thank you very much and left with my family. Why are they open until 1700 and stop taking orders at 1530?!? It wasn’t as if we had asked for hot food, which I could understand! Was very disappointed,on the up side we found a very nice place on the way home who did manage to do a very nice afternoon tea for us,so all was not lost!👍🏻

Well this cafe is very friendly and the people are lovely - that’s very important to me The decorations are in keeping with the theme and the people who work there try to keep an atmosphere with retro music There is seating outside too The problem for me was the selection of food and drink offered In fairness the jam with my scone was lovely as was the clotted cream but.... menu advertised wraps there was no wraps, menu said chicken and bacon they ol y had turkey and bacon, the turkey is Bernard Mathews wafer thin too. They had no cold drinks from the fridge, no ice, no coke etc People couldn’t have been nicer but really think just a few tweaks and this would be a perfect meeting place. They don’t take card either Overall It is a place I’d like to go but think a few changes would go a long way

I visited before twice and was impressed by the delicious food, high quality service and historic feel in the cafe. My last visit was disappointing, in the past it has always been table service but this time we had to queue up with our menus to order at the bar like we were in a chain pub not a cafe. Our food arrived quickly but seemed rushed and not as good as last time. I ordered Welsh rarebit but a plate of cold toast with a small pot of lumpy cheese sauce was at the side. Felt let down as I was hungry and could have made this at home for half the price. The waiter was a youngish boy who wasn't sure how to deal with customers expressing their opinions and he replied in a huffy teenage fashion. Hope this place remembers what it was like when it first opened because over time it seems to be losing its friendly atmosphere and charm

Amazing place. The staff were fantastic and the food was even better. So much choice for afternoon tea and was allowed to mix and match to suit our needs. Homemade scones were out of this world!! Defo will be back.

I visited these tea rooms with my husband based on Trip Advisor reviews which made them sound amazing. Firstly, if you are expecting traditional tea rooms, you will have a surprise. This is a 2 up, 2 down terraced house. It has a vintage feel to it but it is very cramped. The staff were very friendly and promptly showed us to our table after ordering Afternoon Tea for 2 from the counter. The food arrived and comprised of 8 triangles of our chosen sandwiches, crisps, salad, a scone and a chosen cake each. I had ordered ham and tomato sandwiches but was so disappointed to find they were made with margarine and not butter. I only use butter at home and had to swap with my husband, who had ordered egg mayonnaise, as I couldn't eat them. When the owner asked if everything was ok, I mentioned the margarine and she seemed rather surprised. She said there was a cost element involved in using butter. The scone was delicious but also served without butter and the home made cake was also yummy. The pot of tea was made with a tea bag and you only receive one drink. Usually with Afternoon tea drinks are kept topped up. Whilst not an unpleasant experience we won't be returning. Travel a couple more miles and experience a real afternoon tea at either Alfreton Hall or the Hardwick Inn for the same price!

Thank you to The Vintage Community Cafe at Clay Cross for our fabulous afternoon tea yesterday. I was lucky enough to win it on a Facebook competition and was very excited as I've been wanting to pop in for ages. We were instantly welcomed and looked after through out. The food was delicious and the tea plentiful. Scones were freshly baked and scrumptious and the cakes heavenly. The coffee cakes, always a favourite, had liqueur in the icing. Definitely recommend a visit here and I will be back asap.

Lovely little place, all vintage decor and staff were dressed in vintage style. Afternoon tea was £8 per person and was good value for money. You got loads the staff were extremely helpful and polite. The venue is small so it would be difficult to access with prams etc.

The tea room is decorated in 1940's style and the staff are dressed to suit. We shared an excellent ploughman's lunch. Having been in many times, the welcome and service have always been very good.

A little gem of a place, set out in true vintage style, rustic tables, bunting, even the male staff wear flat caps, it's great. The food is great with something for most tastes, eggs benedict wonderful. Gteat vintage crockery. Will certainly be returning.

Wow if it's vintage you're after then this hits the nail on the head!! Bunting, vintage chintzy China, atmosphere ... This place has it all in bucket loads!! Where do I start on the food?!! Superb selection of freshly baked cakes .. in large portions! The luxury afternoon tea is certainly that!!! Luxurious!!! Macarons, cakes, cream scones, tartlets and sandwiches.. absolutely delicious!! I have also attended a prohibition night, with female vocalist which was lots of fun and finished perfectly with cocktails in the courtyard on a beautiful summers evening! Well worth a visit!!!

The vintage tea rooms is such a refreshing change from the run of the mill chain coffee shops. Situated in a converted store room next to the bus station the place is one of Chesterfield's hidden gems. The afternoon teas are now a regular treat when pay day comes. Be warned though - it can be very busy, but if you can get in it is well worth a visit.

Been here a number of times and although its a bit of a round trip it is well worth the journey. A very friendly well run café with a touch of nostalgia and a bucket full of interesting things. Although it is a tea room they serve the best coffee in the area and the food is excellent.

The Vintage Community Tea Room has now moved to 20C High St, Clay Cross (behind the electrical retail store), and the transformation is outstanding. This must be the hidden gem of Clay Cross, if not Chesterfield. You will be blown away by the decoration and the delicious cakes and tea. Enjoy your afternoon tea in the courtyard, if the weather is kind, or in the beautifully well thought out tea room indoors.

Terrific tardis of a building which hides a stunning tea room with staff dressed to the hilt, home made goodies and brilliant ambiance. The retail part is mostly furniture and vintage style mainly but good prices and some lovely pieces. We had the ploughmans lunch for two which was fab.

Went to the vintage tea rooms today for the first time. Wow! It's like Barker and Stonehouse, but without the pretence of vintage items. Lots of the items around the place are actually vintage ( an old practika camera, leather saddle etc), heck , even the old leather chesterfield settee we sat on was original. We had coffee, a pot of tea, and two cream scones and jam, all for about £7.40. The service was super and the tea and sundries were superb. I will become a regular here. The best in town.

Went for lunch with a friend after having driven past and seen the sign outside and really wanting to try it. Beautiful place - we had the afternoon tea, which I HIGHLY recommend. You get to choose from a big range of teas served in vintage china and it comes with scones, clotted cream, jam, strawberries, cakes, sandwiches and salad. At a bargain price of £12 for two people.

The lovely lady who ran the buntin course couldn't do enough. I was a buntin virgin and she had so much patience and time for each and every one of us. Drinks were served throughout the day and then after making the buntin we had tea and cake which was absolutely lovely. Overall an amazing experience and I can't wait to come back!!!

When I stepped into the Vintage Community it was like stepping back in time. No noisy hustle and bustle of modern day cafés and a warm and welcoming greeting from the suitably 1940's styled hostess. Complete with beautifully delicate Vintage china and a delicious range of cakes to indulge in, the entire experience was truly fitting to it's Vintage name.

Delicious food and always great beer here. The staff are lovely and the buildings are beautifully kept both inside and out. Outside, there's a nice beer garden and a covered wooden decked area which is lovely on a summer's evening with the "Crooked Spire" of Chesterfield visible in the distance. The log burner makes the inside toasty in the colder months and the low ceilings, oak beams and pretty lighting create a lovely atmosphere. The Blue Bell Inn is definitely worth a visit.
