The very best food and service. We love it.

Read the reviews of the three horseshoes and had to try it. It really lived up to expectations, I had ribeye which was succulent and even though I’ve a hearty appetite I couldn’t finish it all. My hubby had fish and chips which he also thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were friendly and the service was very good. Will definitely be back.

My husband and myself visited on a Saturday night which was very busy and expected to wait a while. Wrong! The service was fantastic and the food delicious. If we are back in this area again we will make this are first port of call . Excellent

One of our favorite pubs in the area, mostly for Sunday lunch in our case. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food very good and the prices very reasonable. Don’t order the large Sunday lunch unless you are as hungry as a miner coming off a 12-hour underground shift!

Excellent food. We made a mistake and had starters which were absolutely delicious. We were unable to finish our main course. 4 of us eating and all the food was fabulous and plentiful. Definitely recommend this restaurant. We had to go back 2 days later to try the other meals on offer, which we were again delighted with. The staff were friendly and efficient and the prices were very reasonable. One restaurant you don't want to miss.

First-time visiting the Three Horsehoes and it won't be my last! My friend and I had a lovely meal here last night (I'm still full!), we pre-booked a table as we weren't sure how busy it would be. The menu is extensive and we struggled making our final choices as it all sounded delicious and we were spoilt for choice. We finally decided upon Steak and Ale pie and chunky chips and beef stew with Yorkshire pudding. Very generous portions, my pie was huge. We then managed to fit in a dessert- I had brownie cheesecake and my friend had the jam sponge and custard. Again delicious and homemade. Amazing value, food, friendly service. We will be back!

I rang the 3 Horseshoes today and asked if they could fit my husband and I in for lunch as we were cutting it fine for lunchtime cut off. Not only did they let us order our food over the phone, it was put in front of us within 5 minutes of arriving. Fantastic customer service and as always the food was amazing. Highly recommended

The food was excellent and great value too. The staff were attentive and polite, couldn't do enough. Highly recommend, it won't be the last visit we make.

The Staff were very good and kind, and helpful, but the food was nothing to shout about, small, medium or large dinner which was basically the same not a great difference Yorkshire pudding very hard, like the stuffing, the price was rather high, for when it's vertually half at any other time, and the lemon meringue was certainly not homemade, so I have to say not the best, sorry 3 Horseshoes for a bad review. But it wasn't...

We did two for £18 for lunch, the food was good home cooked style. But the portion sizes are huge. The staff are very pleasant and obliging.

If you go down into Clay Cross, you're in for a big surprise! Pubs serving food at this quality and standard are hard to find. As a family of 5 having 5 totally different dishes all served ontime and hot would be a headache for most chefs but they served up perfectly. Everything from the decor, customer service to food presentation, quality, varied menu, and price is without a doubt 5star stuff. Well done to the Three Horseshoes team. Only complaint is for the poor patrieons sitting near the front door-the slamming shut door can be of-putting. Mould needs sorting in the men's bathroom. Really enjoyed our Sunday roast. Good price for the portion size you get. There are three sizes small, regular and large/mixed meat, we had a small plate which was sufficient.The staff are friendly and efficient. It is popular and can get busy. We go quite often for a Sunday lunch and haven't been disappointed. It's not 5 star dining or trendy but if you're looking for a decent tasty meal it's a good place to go.

Many thanks to Craig and Mark Cathy and Millie and all the staff who made my husbands 70th birthday a night to remember. From the comfortable surroundings, atmosphere and excellent friendly, professional service,to the excellent food FULL MARKS! A party of 19 was dealt with with with ease. All our food was served with none of us waiting, no mix ups, hot and very delicious as always. Nothing was too much trouble, and Cathy and Millie worked so hard to make our evening special.

My 2 sisters and I called in on the off chance, as we hadn't booked on a Saturday lunchtime. We were found a table and I am so pleased they did. Last Friday (31.5.2024) I was part of a party of 7 who met for tea at the Three Horseshoes Clay. Everyone had chosen different meals off the menu but all were delivered seamlessly to our table piping hot. Nothing was too much trouble for the polite, attentive, pleasant young staff. Congratulations Craig on the high standards you have set to create a warm friendly atmospheric meeting place! See you all again next month!

Located not too far from our hotel. Free parking in evening opposite. Service was fine, mains food was tasty but portion sizes a bit too much for us, but probably ok for others, as previous great reviews have shown.

I went for the first time Monday and had full english breakfast- wow!! I didn’t even nearly finish it but not for want of trying. So hot and fresh when it came to the table. Went for lunch today to see how the lunch menu was and absolutely delicious! Homemade and super tasty. Even the cheesecake was clearly homemade. Coffee smells wonderful and was lovely too and staff are just super friendly and full of smiles. Looking forward to coming to sample the evening menu soon. Thank you to the whole team.

Unlike any other visit I’ve had over the years, this one was quite disappointing. As a late mother’s day treat, we chose to dine for lunch at the Three Horse Shoes. We ordered from the grill. Our plates arrived with items of food missing which were listed on the menu. I had to call the waitress back over to question the dish and prompt the missing food. (£19 gammon stacks) As I’m a very frequent diner at The Three Horse Shoes, I am aware that the quality of service, as well as the presentation of the food is usually impeccable! Overall this particular visit did not feel enjoyable and I was let down on a special occasion for my mum.

Impeccable Sunday lunch for an absolute steal of a price. Service excellent as always. Love this place and always recommend!

We came here today for a Mothers Day meal and were not disappointed. The Sunday lunch was delicious - the best I’ve had in a long time. There was 8 of us including 2 children. It was very busy but the staff worked hard and tried their best to make sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be visiting again. Thanks

Absolutely amazing experience, I used to go to the Market Pub for a fancy meal when living in chesterfield town and I wanted a new place similar when I moved to Clay Cross but not only do I find the food even better here the bill at the end was only half the price!! We had 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts and 3 drinks and it only came to £65?? For the quality of the food that is incredible! I've had more expensive meals at Pizza Hut and Three Horse Shoes is like fine dining... Definitely my go to for a meal!

Work meet up for breakfast, all had a breakfast, plenty of choice all cooked to our requirements, lovely food and friendly staff, very busy but didn’t have to wait long for our food. Thankyou we will be returning.

Walked in with my wife this morning at around 10.30am for the very first time, and received a very warm and friendly welcome from the lovely young lady behind the bar, she was at our table within 2 minutes to take our order, which is very rare in most other places. The breakfast was amazing, and those sausages are to die for, we absolutely loved them, I actually struggled to finish the breakfast, and my wife pinched my last bit of sausage 😲, she said she thought I needed help lol. We will be back for sure, and we can't wait to try dinner there. Amazing place, dont hesitate to pay a visit 😉👍 UPDATE !! Okay so we went back yesterday 5.2.24 for my pre Birthday meal, I had the trio of sausages, which I couldn't resist after having them for breakfast a few days before, see above. My wife had the home made lasagne, which she informed me was the best shes had in her life, and trust me she's had a few lol. Both meals were absolutely top class, and it won't be long before we return. You seriously need to go and check this place out, I guarantee you will not be disappointed 😉👍

Went in for the usual Thursday night quiz night and it was as good as ever. Great service from behind the bar and Mark provided the entertainment from behind the mic.

Pie night experience was great, choice of 6 pies as well as normal menu, hand made pies were delicious, my wife not a fan of the pastry (as she’s always on some weight loss crusade) but I thought the shortcrust was excellent and made the pie, I had meat and potato which was tasty and cooked superbly, my wife had Lamb and mint which was also tasty but she felt the filling was slightly chewier than mine , but as I pointed out, they were 2 different pies . I have never had a bad experience here staff friendly, accommodating and attentive to all our needs, food excellent value for money and superb quality. I would highly recommend it

Came here for breakfast with a friend this month. Breakfast was lovely, nice size, filling and the best part is you can choose what you like on the breakfast. As opposed to set menu. Plenty of choice . The taste was nice, flavourful. The staff are friendly. The decor is tired however it looks like the pub is under renovation.

Happened across this place while I was lost in the Peak District so stopped for some lunch absolutely lovely food, nice staff, cozy pub.

My meat lasagne,garlic bread chips was delicious,cheese and bacon burger was great,husband had rump steak was brilliant.all meals had lovely chunky chips all the food was very hot.

We are sightseeing with the family in the area and I went to dinner. It's a lovely pub and very welcoming. All the food was very good! The dishes are big and with all the extras you want. The service was very kind and attentive (thank you!!!) Just as we were leaving they were preparing live music, too bad we couldn't stay, we'll have to do it again 😊

We had a truly enjoyable experience here for my stepdad’s birthday. Three of us had rump steaks, all cooked to our liking. I opted to add a Diane sauce to mine. I was expecting a small pot but I was served what could only be compared to a gravy boat, and I could not put it down! Other members of the party ordered hunters chicken and a tikka massala. They catered both chips and rice for the curry, not even batting an eyelid at the request. The service was impeccable, they truly deserved their tip. I have recommended to friends already and will certainly be returning. Special shout out to Cathy, whom we have known for some years but treated us all professionally regardless. Thank you so much!

Our group Christmas meal today was fab. The food was piping hot, nicely presented, plenty of it , tasty, with first class service, very cosy , great atmosphere and very friendly staff. We would 100% recommend it .

Visited here for lunch for the 1st time yesterday, Saturday 9th Dec, with my husband & cousin. The outside of the pub is a bit ordinary, it's at the end of a terrace of small shops & other pubs but the inside is lovely, well...

We came for our works Christmas party as it was recommended by one of our girls. We all had the 2 or 3 course Christmas menu, the starters were meals in themselves! Most had the turkey and trimmings and all commented how nice the food was, I had a salmon dish as I had a Christmas meal the night before and it was delicious, piping hot and lots of it. The sweets were also generous portions and delicious too. Service was good and staff polite and helpful. Great evening much nicer than the Christmas meal I had the night before at a highly rated country club in the Midlands!

Our go to Sunday lunch spot. Great value and good quality food. Very tentative friendly staff. Recommend to book in advance as it’s quite popular. Deserts are a must.

Our first visit but we were well impressed. Only a short wait for a table. A small but good range of draught beer.

A good range on the menu and everything cooked perfectly. You'll need a good lie down after a meal here as the portions are generous. There is a good choice of hand pulled draught beers.

I had a list of eating places around Darwin forest, I looked and ticked the ones I thought were ok when I came to yours I gave “ the three horses” 2ticks, we had a lovely meal there.
