Saturday lunch with partner on a long weekend in Bakewell. Lovage food is pretty much what you'd expect of a Michelin starred place. At lunchtime it's really a "tasting menu" only in name, since the five courses include some hefty nibbles and a tastefully small soup course. But it's all outstandingly good - notably for me the beetroot course. And the non-brownie brownie at the end, which I wasn't really looking forward to, was gorgeous. Interesting and enjoyable wine flight as well, served by a knowledgeable and friendly sommelier. We would have preferred to eat in the evening but couldn't get in so went for lunch instead. We've never been so pleased to have a noisy table of 10 in the same dining room. Without them it would have been just the two of us in a good-sized room and - much as I adore my partner - a near-zero atmosphere experience. Must be lovely when full (also like my partner - boom, boom).

We have been regularly coming to Bakewell to shop for several decades, usually incorporating a light lunch or afternoon tea as part of the day. Our first choice for food used to be Bytheway’s, but alas this shut a few years ago, and we have been working our way round the many different cafes & pubs in the town to find a new favourite. We went to the Lime Lounge for the first time today, and it is certainly now high on our list. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, the extensive menu, dominated by all-day breakfasts, filled rolls and paninis with gluten free and meat-substitute variants along with a selection of cakes and pastries was ideal for us, and at what we thought was a very reasonable price. The food was of very good quality and in generous portions, and we left well fed and happy, and will certainly return.

Ezri, Callum,Amy & Hannah at the Bakewell pudding shop have always gone out of their way to make every visit a memorable one. A visit to Bakewell is never complete without a visit to the pudding shop. On one occasion Hannah went into the stores to find the box of coffee and walnut cake when it was finished in the counter. Such a dedicated and wonderful team.

I do love The Rutland Arms and visit quite regularly. When they get it right here, it’s unbeatable, and they got it right when four of us visited for a family lunch in December. We all chose different main courses and, apart from my slight disappointment that the kitchen had run out of apple sauce to accompany my roast pork, everything was spot on. One of our group had roast beef, one went for the fish and chips and the other person chose coachman’s chicken. As well as the perfectly cooked veggies that were served with the dishes, we shared a couple of portions of cauli cheese and it was all divine. My roast pork was tender, lean and melted in the mouth as, apparently, was the roast beef. Prior to our mains, two of us had the carrot, coriander and coconut soup, served with lovely crusty bread, and it had the most gorgeous flavours. I loved the croutons, too, which were lovely and crunchy on the outside with a nice softness inside. Timings were perfect, with just the right amount of time to relax between the courses when I could savour the utter deliciousness of the soup. The other three managed deserts, one crumble and two crème brûlée, and, although the latter is my all time favourite dessert, I was stuffed to the point of thinking I’d need to be rolled out of the place if another morsel passed my lips! Service was faultless. With drinks and 10% service charge, our bill came to just under £166 which, I felt, was excellent value for money. It really was a perfect family lunch.

During our recent visit to the restaurant, we had the afternoon tea for three individuals. However, upon arrival, we discovered that we had inadvertently forgotten our vouchers. Despite presenting an email and photographic evidence of the tickets, we were told to pay the full amount and subsequently incur additional expenses for recorded delivery to return the vouchers, thereby seeking a full refund. In comparison to our previous visit, the tea selection this time was significantly less than half. Notably, we were provided with standard white teapots, last time being more decorative, identical to the cups. While these observations may be considered minor, the culinary offerings were exceptional, and we found no aspect of the afternoon tea that we would wish to alter. Nevertheless, we acknowledge that the restaurant has room for improvement in certain areas.

Definitely worth a visit for a Sunday carvery. Owners are so welcoming but equally their staff, young and older were so welcoming, polite and friendly. Portion sizes huge but as a roast potato enthusiast could have done with more than the one we were given. Give this place a go if you want real Bakewell hospitality and delicious produce.

Everything you want from a countryside tea room. Great beverages, home made cakes, great service and delightful old world charm in a stunning garden location. Our new favourite tea room. Last visit we were joined by a special guest who’d brought his lunch in with him

Went for a family lunch as reviews were good - disappointed. Lovely woman behind the bar, clearly short staffed for the busy between Christmas and new year period. They didn't have 2 things we wanted on the menu but it was a long while after ordering that we found this out. One veggie option which was supposed to be risotto but was actually dry rice not creamy which risotto is supposed to be, with small chunks of butternut squash, without the parmesan and sage mentioned in the menu. Burger had weirdly thick and undercooked bacon. Turkey sandwich advertised as hot was cold. Shepherd's pie was very good, cod goujon sandwich was fine. I hadn't the heart to mention all of the things as lady behind bar coping on her own was so nice and clearly working flat out. Place is a bit shabby could do with some basic TLC. Loos lovely and immaculate.
