If I could give this place zero I would! Went for Sunday lunch, portions were small as the servers chose how much food to give everyone! This included gravy, which is a personal preference on the amount. Stuffing was undercooked. Very little choice on drinks, Guinness was from a can and no alternative offered for allergies. Very expensive for what food and service we got. Will not return again!

We had a pork cob and 2 cups of tea. It was an awful experience that cost £11.60. What a rip off! The pork was dry and tough and we couldn't drink the tea which tasted stewed. A total waste of my hard earned money. Never again!

My parents and I stumbled on this little gem by accident and boy am I glad we did. My father (96) was experiencing difficulty walking and the entire staff including the owner went above and beyond to help him. I didn’t eat, but my folks had a meat cob. I’m sorry my appetite wasn’t up to par because the carvery looked amazing. Thank you so much for everything you did for my dad. I have never experienced customer service like that before. We will be back and will be raving about all of you and your lovely establishment to our friends. Highly recommended.

Awful, avoid at all costs. Ran out of breakfast items and stopped serving breakfast at 11 instead of 11.30, rude staff using foul language with eachother, terrible organisation, had two separate queues for different food items, not accommodating to one of our party who is vegetarian. Waste of time and money.

Living in Bakewell, we are fortunate that we can visit the Farmers Feast regularly. In particular, we enjoy the Sunday carvery, which is excellent. There is usually a choice of four meats together with a selection of vegetables, including new and mashed potatoes. There is a good selection of deserts, which are also superb. The staff are very friendly and it is no wonder that the Sunday carvery is very popular. Booking is advisable.

4 of us nipped in for a breakfast - full English. Served quickly, friendly staff, great food, great price. Cappuccino with it was lovely. A very good service by the staff, everything was right and nothing too much trouble - e.g. I like my eggs well done - they did them exactly as I like. No quibbles. I also wanted a take away of bacon and sausage bap - again, no problem (not like another place where they refused to do two after accepting they did). Excellent all round, will go again.

Visited the monthly Farmers market today. Whilst there we called in the cafe for a bacon roll and a drink. We noticed on the menu chalkboard that they had down that they was serving Beef, Pork and Ham dinners amongst other things at lunchtime. My husband said he fancied having lunch at the cafe at lunchtime so we decided to hang around. As the Market was very poor and seriously lacking stalls compared to previous visits we were finished very quickly. This left is having to kill several hours in poor weather until it reached lunchtime. We returned to the cafe and my husband went to order food. He was told that they weren't cooking vegetables today but you could have a pork and stuffing roll. We'd already had a roll at breakfast so my husband left it. We weren't the only people disappointed. Several couples and families were complaining as they left too. The chalkboard menu had not been changed to reflect the change in available nor was there any signs anywhere explaining that they were not doing meals. We hung around and wasted nearly 3 hours thinking we would be able to get a cooked meal. Very poor communication, I don't understand why they simply didn't do the right thing and put a notice on the chalkboard both as you enter the cafe and the one behind the counter. Three hours wasted for absolutely nothing. Disappointed doesn't even cover it.

Called in for a coffee at the weekend and although the place was clearly still busy the queue didn't seem too bad. It turned out I was in for quite wait, apparently due to a great deal of confusing about the order of the customer in front (she only asked for a couple of sandwiches drinks and snacks). Eventually I got my coffee which was very disappointing for the price (£2.50). For that I expect something along the lines of one of the big coffee chains. What I received was sadly not a good as a petrol station Costa machine. The one redeeming feature was that they serve their coffee in proper mugs, not disposable cups. From an environmental point of view this was really nice to see.

I can't comment on the food which did look nice however what a disappointment! After a very long journey my father, myself and my two sisters finally parked for our day in Bakewell. Cold, hungry and uncomfortable we decided to eat before walking round. On entering the cafe we left our Father to get a table whilst we went to the ladies room! Whilst queuing we were confronted by a man who we assume to be the manager/owner who asked us if we were eating as he only had 1 toilet and as we can imagine they need to be cleaned and he can't have any one just coming off the street to use them. We began to explain that our Father was getting a table but he rudely interrupted us to rant over how we should appreciate his predicament. To be honest we were so stunned we didn't respond. We were so upset and embarrassed we couldn't eat there, so left!

I visited here with my 2 year old son as it as somewhere we could sit down for lunch whilst the farmers market was on. I ordered a children egg on toast for my son and it came as a piece of dry toast with no butter and a rubbery, hard fried egg. I questioned how much I had been charged for it and the lady serving me said it was £4 as all children's meals are £4. I said that it hardly compared to sausage, chips and beans which was also a children's meal and she just shrugged. Considering an egg cob is on the main menu at £2.25, I feel that they are seriously taking advantage. I definitely won't be going back.

Good selection of meats and help yourself to the vegies, then select your sauce at the end of the carvery, depending on what meat you choose. Quite busy on our two visits, but the Ladies who serve are on the ball and know what they are doing. Would we visit again, certainly. Now to address the title of my review. It seems to me the Farmers has a bit of an identification "difficulty". It's like a large Staff Canteen type of a place, but it's a Cafe or is it a Restaurant.
