Everything you want from a countryside tea room. Great beverages, home made cakes, great service and delightful old world charm in a stunning garden location. Our new favourite tea room. Last visit we were joined by a special guest who’d brought his lunch in with him

We stopped here for breakfast on our way home, and so glad we did. A warm welcome, lovely home cooked food in a wonderful setting. Worth every penny

Super little pub with warm cosy log burner, old leather sofas and low ceilings. Fairly priced beer/lager. Food expensive but very tasty. Friendly staff. Dog friendly inside. Big outside area for summer. Will definitely return when we are next here.

Whenever I am in Matlock for the day I like to come here, especially in Winter. It is a proper pub with cask ale, wood burners and low beamed ceilings. If you're seeking refuge from the wet and cold, there is no better place to be. It's warm, cosy and comfortable, and the owners have always been kind and friendly. In summer there is a garden out front with a few benches and a wonderful view into the valley.

A very friendly, accommodating pub with good beer and food that managed to take our large party of 18 and still allowing for individual ordering while also providing a very reasonable price. They even let us have some use of a large room that gave us the opportunity to have a relaxed atmosphere with young children. Highly recommended!

Superb Al fresco breakfast in a lovely courtyard right in the heart of this ancient historic village. Quality of ingredients was superb, the tea was delicious and the environment was delightful. I would heartily recommend
