Once again The Crispin has pulled out all the stops and made a family occasion a most enjoyable event. Many thanks to Lydia, Hayley and Paul! Twelve of us met for a birthday lunch in the function room, which had been beautifully set out for us. Excellent catering by Lydia (fantastic starter platters!) and delightful friendly service by Hayley and the team all contributed to a memorable gathering. This is a most welcoming pub. Highly recommend. Our thanks to all!

Attempted to book for 19.30, asked if we could come at 19.45 instead. Ordered food almost immediately and finally got the meals at 20.50. When asked at 20.40 where the food was, informed there had been a lot pf orders (no other tables were served in the meantime) and that the duck takes 20 minutes. On arrival the duck I had asked for as pink was well done and the ‘Boulangere’ potatoes inedible. I returned the food, uneaten and left hungry at 21.00. Avoid at all costs.

Delicious food, excellent value, in a traditional pub setting. You can't ask for much more really. While the pie wasn't ready when I ordered, the lambs liver was an excellent 2nd choice. A great portion size, with 3 good sized slices of liver. Having cycled past the pub many times and seen it to be popular based on cars in the car park, I'm very happy to have found an opportunity to go. Hope to return!

Been here dozens of times over the past half dozen year for both drinks and food. Went in last week after some months and food was very poor. Service was even worse. Never again will my family or I step foot into this pub. Funny thing is my wife and daughter were talking with some villagers the day before and they didn't come straight out and warn them, but they let it be known they don't go in there and give their custom to the other pub in the village. Now I can understand why. Shame as we have spent a lot of money in here over the years.

Horrible experience left the pub with my son in tears! We have always stopped at this pub every year when we come to Derbyshire and have always had a lovely meal and enjoyed the hospitality. After ordering food we waited for it to arrive my sons meal came out and we all looked at each other in shock at the size of his portion 2 burn chicken goujons and 7/8 chips when we asked staff about the portion size they told us it was normal and 3 staff members continued to argue with us even the chef came out . We ate our food and went to pay where the manager continued to argue as I explained my disappointment in the size of the child's portion. We will not be coming back as something has changed and the place is not as welcoming as before we would have quite happily spend hundreds of pounds in this establishment but after today's experience I will not be visiting again all over adding a extra chicken nugget !

Don't bother ordering food from this pub, the staff were very rude and argumentative. We have been to The Crispin multiple times over the years for food, but it appears to be changed hands to a new family member. We waited nearly an hour for food and one of our meals we ordered was a child's portion chicken goujons and chips, when the meal arrived to the table we were all shocked at the pathetic two small burnt chicken nugget sized goujons and seven greasy chips. When asked if everything was ok with our food we said the child's portion was tiny and asked if we could have an extra goujon or two. The staff responded "no, that's all you get". Two waiting staff and the "chef" came out to argue about it with nobody offering to make things right unless we paid for more chicken goujons. One of the landlords also completely unwilling to try and make things right. Disappointing food and appalling service that never used to be the norm at this pub and is in complete contrast to what we are used to having in this area. For the sake of a single chicken goujon they have lost out on hundreds of pounds of our future business.

Lovely pub and quite unique. Stopped off for a Sunday roast on the way home after a few days in the Peak District. At first I was a little dissatisfied that they were only serving chicken roast but it was one of the best chicken roasts I’ve had and exactly what we needed. Chicken and potatoes were both on point and the little sausage was a nice touch. Staff were also really friendly and accommodating with the food being great value for money. Sadly no photos, but we tucked straight in which shows just how good it looked and tasted.

Ordered drinks and 5 main courses for a family birthday meal. Only 4 meals arrived after quite a long wait. Eventually told by unapologetic owner that he had made a mistake and only written down 4 orders (made excuse he was tired). We had to start eating as food was only luke warm so birthday boy had to wait. After 10 minutes, he was given bread and pate. After we had all finished eating, his meal arrived and he had to sit and eat on his own. When we came to pay, owner said I have not charged you for bread and pate (which we had not ordered) but had charged for everything else! Horrible service throughout which ruined the birthday meal.

Good range of beers, wines and other drinks, Loved the home made food, great to see something other than burgers. I have recently been diagnosed with a dairy intolerance so the chickpea curry was absolutely delicious with rice and popadums. My partner had the steak and unicorn pie, the unicorn being an ale they sell …we laughed with the friendly manager as I’d thought it might be horse meat! The pie was proper home made not processed and the steak was melt in the mouth , absolute quality and fresh veg too . We spent a few nights in Great Longstone, we ate one night at the White Lion when we arrived, one at the Crispin after a long day and then ate at the cottage the final night. The reason we spent the second night at the Crispin was purely logistics based, the White Lion was the closest pub when we arrived. However, we soon found out the Crispin was about 3 minute ls walk away so after a short hike we ate there before collapsing for the night. We ate in the garden, we chose from the normal menu but there were specials, the garden was peaceful and outdoor heating was available. There is only the main entrance into the pub so a small walk around the building to get to the garden. The bar staff and servers were friendly and it was a very comfortable environment, we arrived not long after opening so not a long wait, the food was good, I had a mixed grill which I always have and it's always a mixed bag, but everything was cooked well. Would revisit.
