Lovely little tea shop. Coffee cake was delicious although enough for two 😬 Victoria sandwich unfortunately was stale but it was replaced without question. My big concern was the incorrect use of masks. If wearing under the nose you might as well not bother. It is also important to not keep touching the mask and if you do sanitise your hands before touching anything.

We called in as there were 2 window spaces available in a corner which looked very appealing. We had been here quite a while ago and were happy with things then, not so much now. Like the other review made yesterday, we had to wait 15 minutes for our order to be taken and another 10 minutes for the drinks and a brownie to arrive. My heated sausage roll took nearly another 10 minutes to arrive. In all fairness, the drinks and food were excellent and good value for money. One more area that needs attention is leaving cakes on the front counter uncovered. A big no no, particularly in these extreme health conscious times

Visited Ashbourne today and as we've been to Dillon's for a coffee previously we thought we'd pop in. Mistake. We waited 15 minutes for the waiter to take our order and nearly 10 more for the drinks to arrive! Lovely coffee shame about the Bakewell Pudding cake. Quite dry with hardly any 'cherry' filling. Apparently the chocolate cake faired better. Disappointed with the whole experience. Probably won't be popping in again. 😟

We paid 2 visits to this tearoom during our short break as the food and service was really good. Out 6 year old was suitably entertained by a selection of toys they gave to us and for eating mushrooms my boy got some chocolate. Also the cakes were amazing! This place is clearly popular and can get very busy so you can’t always get a table but if you can it’s well worth it for the food alone! A very family friendly cafe.

Every time I called in Ashbourne I used this tea room. Excellent young staff. Today I went in at 10 minutes to Four and before I got my foot over the threshold a woman, who was probably the owner, stated “we are closing in 5 minutes - sorry” The tea room was probably2 thirds full and people were sitting eating meals which looked like they had just been served. So my cup of tea was obviously out of the question. One of the patrons looked at me and shook his head and turned his eyes towards the heavens in disgust It was just rude and lazy. Never seen the woman before. I feel very let down as I always recommended the place. Still there are a great many tea rooms in Ashbourne who are grateful for your custom. Don’t bother with this place, I certainly shan’t.

I have visited Dillons on many occasions, but after our visit today I know I will never go back or recommend it to anyone I know. The service was very slow, and when the waitress came to take the order, she was abrupt and not in the slightest bit pleasant or welcoming, one of the dishes was the wrong one and the chicken on it had been microwaved to the most disgusting taste! The waitress then started to argue with us, waving her arms about and behaving in a very aggressive way! Both my daughter and myself were stunned, and just packed our things up and just left. I'm not sure if it has changed hands, but it does not bode well for it given our experience in there today.

Have visited often in the past- when there were really helpful staff. Not so today- the afternoon of 20 January. We called in at 3.15:1 There is a sign saying please wait to be seated- but none of the staff bothered to adhere to that or look at us.2 We sat down - and after 15 minutes with NO APPROACH from any member of staff we walked out. To be honest the staff were so not on the ball I don’t think they even noticed.3 Three members of staff were evident but too busy chatting to people they knew. What has happened? What a disaster area.Went to Costa!

First time I've managed to get in here yesterday. What a treat. Has a standard menu with choice of hot and cold food. Note the specials board by the stairs. Chose the omelette from the specials board. Two fillings for £6.50. Had cheese and mushroom and rates as one of the best I've ever had. The ham and mushroom chosen by the wife got the same response. Salad accompanying it first class. All the food coming out looked very tasty and enticing. Number of tempting cakes at the counter if hot drink and cake is your way to go. Staff very friendly and good. Well worth a visit.

We were in Ashbourne for the day and picked this place after a brief walk around the town. On walking in we noticed that a number of tables had reserved signs on and we had the choice of one table. we sat and witnessed others who came in after us being turned away as they had no seats available yet throughout our stay no one sat in the reserved section. we were there for breakfast and had Eggs Benedict and Scrambled Egg on toast with Coffee and Tea. Eggs benedict was ok but the hollandaise tasted like it was prebought. scrambled egg was fine. Took some time for the staff to take our order and the service was slow. Cant really complain about the food but in all honesty wont be rushing back!

We have visited Dillons on a few occasions recently both as a couple and as a family, The staff were really friendly and although it was incredibly busy one of the girls immediately came over to clear and clean a table for us. On the first visit it was just myself and my husband and we both had coffee and cake. The cake slices are really generous so we had two plates and shared a slice. While we were rather we noticed a couple having the afternoon tea on the old fashioned stands which had a selection of cakes and sandwiches. We decided that this would be a lovely treat for our children so we decided to return a few days later to treat them. They absolutely loved going in to a traditional Tea Room and having what they called a “posh lunch” and cant wait to go back. The staff were more than happy to provide them with squash and tap water as our children seem able to drink for England. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Thanks.

Visited between 9.30 and 10 today. 2 members of staff were friendly but busy doing nothing for a lot of the time. Did they serve us quickly? Yes. Were they polite? Yes . The fair haired lady spent time on her phone in full view of customers and the dark haired lady chatted with 2 different lots of customers at length as she obviously knew them- about tattoos and where to have them and then about what colour to have her nails done. I have visited several times before when management have been present and this type of behaviour has not been happening. It just doesn’t give a great impression of what is a fabulous local place to eat. Just wanted to give constructive feed back to a local business. Great food is not the only way to keep customers coming back.

We arrived at a busy time it is fair to say, so the halfway landing area by the kitchen door and loos held the only available seating. Having regularly visiting this cafe in the past both to dine and drink on the last few occasions I have visited with friends I can’t help but feel the standard has gone downhill. Elements such as butter portions were lovingly presented in side ramekins and have now been replaced with cheap butter portions; the sauces are now dispensed into a ramekin straight from the jar instead of the lovely jam pots they were served in; and on my most recent visit one member of staff dispensed Sainsbury’s basic jam straight from the jar for all the customers to see. With the food at such a high standard using local produce and the coffee and tea being one of the towns best, it is a shame to see a cafe loose certain features which resulted in it being one of the leading in the coffee shop filled town.

Not impressed at all. Food was average and service began friendly enough, until the waitress said the kitchen were unable to make my 5 year old a boiled egg (menu says ‘eggs of your choice’). The staff continued to disappoint me. Slammed down cutlery, took away plates when people were still eating, took away tea pots that still had some in! Very uncomfortable. This is a great little independent which seemed very busy. It was lovely that you are offered a table which rarely happens now. The waiter and waitresses were busy taking orders and delivering them to the tables in a very timely manner. The food menu looked good but we were tempted by the large selection of homemade cakes. Indeed, we struggled to choose as they all looked so good. To go with the cakes there is a comprehensive selection of teas and coffees. It was a pleasant change to have loose tea when I asked for green tea as so often it is bagged green tea. This café/tea room isn't luxurious but it is very homely and welcoming. These tea rooms are in what used to be our favourite bookshop in Ashbourne, and now a favourite place to have a drink or snack. We had a warm welcome and were lucky to get a window table at lunchtime, we must have arrived at just the right time as it was very busy and while we were there people were having to be turned away. The tea rooms are on the main street so it was great for people watching while we waited for our food and drinks. The service was pleasant and unhurried and there was a great choice of unusual teas as well as a good choice of different types of food, from cake and snacks, to substantial main lunches. It is quite a small tea room and the back room, up a few steps is a bit dark, but that is the only drawback. The waitresses got our order right, and the food was good. The place was very, very clean, with tables cleared promptly. A good place to visit.

We decided to try Dillon's for breakfast on our last day in Ashbourne, and we were not disappointed. We had a fabulous breakfast of porridge followed by smoked salmon & scrambled eggs on a fresh Derbyshire oatcake.

Took Grandson to the JCB Academy Induction, daughter and I went off in search of somewhere to eat and get a drink, after finding parking we took a walk around the town and came across Dillon's, a small establishment not far from the market, we were politely asked to go to a table and a waitress came over and we ordered Full English Breakfasts, nothing exceptional but well cooked and very tasty, served fairly quickly as it was only about 09-30 am, I did comment to one of the staff that it would have been just that little bit better if Black Pudding had been included and was thanked for the comment and advised that they were considering including it in the future.

No matter what time of day you visit \Dillon's there's always a warm welcome, lovely atmosphere and great food. They also do take away drinks and scrummy cakes as well as more filling meals and snacks.

There’s not too much to say about the place. And average cafe in the centre of Ashbourne, with OK food. Nothing too special. The atmosphere isn’t as good as some places I’ve been and it was cold inside, but in fairness it was minus 1 outdoors and they were having new stairs put in. It was clean and the staff friendly, nothing to note about the food.

We stopped of in Ashbourne on our way to Leek, and found this lovely coffee shop, with a great selection of food, especially the cakes, my favourite was the homemade Battenburg, and the coffee was great, very good service, and friendly staff.

Lovely coffee, delicious smoothies and hot chocolate, great service and very reasonably priced. Half the price of Costa and double the quality.

If you’re in Ashbourne or indeed the Peak District you should have breakfast or at the very least cake & coffee at Dillon’s! This cafe has a laid back atmosphere, a fantastic menu & amazing selection of cakes & really great friendly staff. We will be back & would highly recommend.

Waited about 20 minutes for order to be taken. Couple next to us, who came in after us, were served a meal in the mean time. We had ordered a pot of tea for two and two cheese scones, which we asked to be warmed up. Eventually we were served our tea and two cold scones. Asked for them to be heated up. Waitress took them away without a word and returned to plonk them down heated and with butter, again, without a word. The same waitress was having an argument with a dissatisfied customer on his way out. It was a cold day and she was holding the door open to continue the discussion with him. This didn't reflect well on the establishment. I noticed one or two other members of staff who actually smiled at their customers, but on the whole, I'd say this place would benefit from some training in customer service and organisation.

What a great location, very happy/helpful staff and spotlessly clean. I visited for cakes and coffee and the unusual choice of cakes was a refreshing change. I would make a point of visiting again if I go to Ashbourne.

I pop into Dillons often. The staff are truly lovely. The cakes are home baked and creative and cappuccino is the best here. It's relaxed in here and has huge windows to people watch

Stopped in Ashbourne briefly for refreshment and found Dillons to be just what we needed . Pleasant atmosphere and staff . Our baked potatoes were fine but I was nearly defeated by the generous portion . Perhaps I should have asked for one of the speciality coffees ; my Americano wasn't that impressive . The cakes looked good too but we had 'no room' for them . Would certainly recommend for a light lunch .

The food was dreadful and expensive. Can’t say it any plainer. Schnitzel was burnt and poorly presented. Pasted was soggy. The very worst was the waffles which had been microwaved and were solid! Just the two us for a birthday meal with one drink each and it cost £91!
