Stopped here onway to birmingham airport for a carvery, was really nice, staff were friendly it was quiet and value for money highly recommend

Waitress greeted us on arrival and gave us good service The beef however was awful Very fatty and chewy, served by the most miserable chef I have ever encountered .

We had 3 carvery’s, desserts and some drinks. Great food & pleasant staff. Very happy with my experience there. Can & would recommend this when I return to Birmingham.

Disappointing experience - meeting a friend over to stay from Holland, who was staying with relatives in Sheldon. Having eaten here previously we arrived on an evening when an offer was valid and the place was absolutely packed. I queued to book before she arrived supported by a wheel walker (zimmer frame with wheels). We were told it would be a 20 minute wait for a table and the waitress would come and fetch us when one became free. I waited at the bar to order drinks which we had. Then a young man came to fetch us and rushed off at speed to show us our table up steps in a tight corner that even I couldn't get into never mind my friend with a walker. I asked him to slow down and said the table was completely unsuitable. Thankfully another diner said we could have her table as she'd finished so we waited for the table to be cleared away by another waitress. The young man had disappeared! This table was still up stairs but on the entrance part rather than up the top in a corner. The young man clearly was oblivious to accessibility requirements, spatial awareness or mobility restrictions of customers. My friend asked if he could put the walker somewhere safe but he did not tell her where it was. We queued for the carvery for a long time and had to wait for a change of shift in the server, wait for roast potatoes and meat. The food was plentiful but having sat under lights for a long time, carrots, cauliflower and other veg were completely dry. We had a dessert followed by a pot of tea and the waitress who served us those was pleasant and friendly. By then the restaurant had quietened down considerably but our experience on arrival and then failing to take needs of older less mobile customers into consideration despite the receptionist having seen that neither of us were thin spring chickens was a real disappointment. We also had to go looking to find the walker at the end of the meal which was a bit concerning. This seems to be a training issue more than anything so hope this can be improved.

This Toby Carvery is attached to the Travelodge so it's very handy if you're staying there. I was impressed with the kindness of the lady who survived us. One of our party has a mushroom allergy. We came for breakfast and although it was buffet breakfast the chef kindly cooked the food separately to avoid the possibility of cross contamination.

Its been a while since I visited the wheatsheaf in sheldon, I had a very nice carvey, tasting fresh and well cooked. The usual excellent service from the staff.

Always have a great lunch here. The turkey was beautiful and my grandson said his roast beef "was the best". Have been here for lunch on five occasions and have always had a warm welcome whether with friends or family.

Sadly not impressed after our second visit.this week. Our first time, we arrived just after 19 am So at 9am we where earlier today , yet the buffet layout was still poor. I'm not sure if the Yorkshire puddings or the pasta was left out from last night, or part of the breakfast buffet this morning .The platter of bacon was just a dried out lump of bacon strips, certainly didn't look appetising, so I gave it a wide berth. The beans and tomatoes , were in need of topping up , before they to dried up the same as the bacon had. The hash browns, where do solid, when cut they shot off the plate in multiple directions. I would be mortified if I ever found out, that my staff were putting what I've seen twice this week out for service.

Me and my partner had a lovely meal here on Friday afternoon food was great the chef was very friendly and helpful we was also served by a lovely lady called leanne so polite very helpful a lovely lovely lady 🤗

Awful rude service 15 minute wait before staff arrived..when did rude loud girl,told to wait when asked to add another child to booking told to get drinks from bar,,asked table number said we didn't have one as of yet, Order drinks then to be rudely and loudly be girl this isn't tje bar this is restaurant bar, pointed at bar which a window divided...6 pounds carvery for 6 people..turned out child age 5 paid 6.50 as not on deal?. Vegetarian wasn't offered any meat alternative. Food mediocre staff need training in customer relations..management in jeans...Awful wouldn't recommend..misleading information

Pleasant experience had at this branch with friendly attentive staff, a very clean environment, and some delicious food. Would return here again if in the vicinity.

Went to the Toby Carvery Sheldon today to be created by Nova, she was extremely friendly and helpful! checked on us often and made us feel very comfortable. She has a very bubbly personality, places need a lot more waitresses like Nova.

Popped in to celebrate a birthday with the family - very warm welcome and lovely service from Nova. One of the party is now vegetarian but the range of vegetables etc on offer catered very well. We were offered desserts and extra drinks but didn’t have the room !! Great visit with very personable service.

Absolute bar tender control!! These guys are unbelievable but Lisa went above and beyond which made my experience one of the best

Like other people, my colleagues and I were caught out by the parking ‘charge’. Two cars and 5 teachers had a quick catch up last week and it has resulted in two tickets.‍♀️ Previous posts say there are ample signs but we genuinely didn’t realise that this was the situation. None of us were aware there was a console to log our registrations in at the door we entered the bar ‍♀️ And the bar staff (who was a past pupil) didn’t refer to it or ensure we were aware! Hopefully our tickets will be overturned as we were legitimately in the bar…..it’s a pity as the industry was closed for so long customers may have forgotten protocols!Our tickets are 5 times the cost of the rounds

Well, where do I start? The Happy Meal was my favorite. My only issue is it seems to be busier than St Andrews on a Saturday (Not difficult I know), but the Food is substantial and I always end up feeling like "a pig in a blanket" ;) afterwards.

Went here on Sunday about 6 pm, the meat was ok the rest of the food was all dry and baked to a crisp under the lamps, don’t waste your money here to many bad experiences here

Although it looks an absolute dump from outside, the carvery was plentiful and fresh. Staff were friendly. The place needs some work done on it, Why on earth wasn't this done through the forced closure during pandemic ? Lot of graffiti and broken parts outside which does not make it very welcoming.

Good cheap carvery. Plenty of meat, leeks in cheese sauce felt like the leeks needed better cleaning. Food was simply OK. Nothing to rave about. Staff looked harassed and overworked but were still polite and pleasant and helpful. Was a good meal and cheap.

We came today for breakfast for the first time to this restaurant having been to a couple of others in the past. We were greeted enthusiastically by Georgia who was a fantastic waitress. Nothing was too much trouble and she checked on us a few times to make sure everything was ok. The range and quality of food was great and excellent value for money.

We normally use the malt shovel which is another Toby carvery but they were fully booked so we travelled the extra distance thinking it couldn’t be that different. We were wrong.No hellos, no how are you today? Just greeted with a slightly angry and very stressed sounding host with “have you booked?!”Yes we had.After a few huffs and puffs we were seated and served by a pleasant lady who took our drinks order and told us we could go to the carvery when we were ready. Queued up for 25 mins in the line with about 10 people in front of us, then we received our meals, Extremely thinly cut meat, which we soon realised was because they were running out of it. We realised this was the issue when the lady from the welcome station came round the line of people, counting us as if we were kids on a school trip. Then said there should be enough. I took my plate, that felt like it was pebbledashed underneath, only to see that it was actually just filthy. cancelling bookings, because of no meat. Looking to see if there was enough meat left on the station to accommodate 2 ladies that came in.Telling people they could have vegetarian food, But let’s be honest nobody goes to a carvery for a mushroom do they? We were gutted that we didn’t enjoy our visit as we were so looking forward to it, we wished we had of just not bothered.

We arrived at the carvery and were met by two staff ,they were extreamly helpful and very friendly , the food was excellent , good choice hot and served with a smile , i would just like to make a special mention for Katie she checked several times to make sure everything was ok and we had everything we needed with out being intrusive , she even bought my partners meal to the table as he had a walking stick .

Highly recommend this restaurant. Food is great from their breakfasts all the way through to the desserts. The carvery is definitely one of our favourites and Staff are fantastic, hardworking, friendly and very helpful. I wanted to make my daughters 18th birthday as special as I could during the pandemic, Gail and her team went above and beyond in helping me do this and provided a great start to her day by decorating her table before her arrival with banners, balloons and even a card. Breakfast of course was delicious and the staff continued to give their excellent service throughout our visit. Thank you Gail and your team.

5 of us dined here on Sunday with 4 having the carvery with one opting for the seabass salad.Firstly the carvery. Whilst it all tasted OK, the meat side was so disappointing, I have never known such wafer thin sliced meat and the smallest serving I have seen. I even commented to the chef who passed it off as a joke.I am also unsure of the value in getting a member of staff to carry your plate from the serverie to your seat. It actually adds a person into the chain of getting your food to the table.Secondly the salad. Firstly there was no seabass and salmon was offered as an alternative. The salad came after we had all sat down from a long queue for our food and was very disappointing. The menu described red and green peppers, red onion, courgette, dill, butter and lemon. However it came very bland with no seasoning or dressing and with just lettuce, cucumber and tomato.In general a very disappointing experience.

Staying in the next door hotel we had breakfast here.Service was fast and polite, price was reasonable, but the buffet self service has gone, and the food tasted old and very much kept warm for too long.

Sin embargo, no entiendo realmente el nuevo sistema. ¿Por qué hacer cola para recibir comida y luego esperar a que los camareros lleven a su mesa? Entiendo que las reglas son solo para el servicio de mesa, pero seguramente esto debería significar que en realidad no haces cola en Carvery en primer lugar.

Came for lunch on a Monday afternoon, under the new rules everything was perfect. Everyone was very lovely and followed the rules accordingly making our visit feel very safe. Thankyou everyone who was working, especially the smaller manager :)

Al leer, Toby Carvery estaba ofreciendo un 50% de descuento durante las dos primeras semanas de septiembre. Reservé una mesa el 2 de septiembre. La mañana de mi llegada leí dónde estaba disponible a través de una aplicación. Al no tener una aplicación, llamé a Sheldon y me dijeron que, siempre que hubiera reservado en línea, solo necesitaba traer el número de referencia para obtener el descuento. Anoté el único número en mi reserva de confirmación y al pagar la factura se rechazó diciendo que era el número equivocado. Después de explicarle la conversación telefónica a quien supongo que era la directora de turno, me dijeron que no podía hacer nada. Dije que esto era repugnante después de verificar todo contigo, rechazaste el descuento. Al salir, la camarera se despidió en tono sarcástico. Creo que esta es una práctica muy aguda de Toby Inns y, habiendo escrito en su página de quejas, no han tenido la cortesía de responder. La única estrella no se trata de la comida, que era muy buena, solo el servicio.

Excelente servicio de nuestros waitesss. No podía culparla. Sin embargo, el asador fue caótico, una larga espera, con un mínimo distanciamiento social. Una vez que llegamos al asador, todos los chefs se fueron y regresaron después de 5 minutos. Uno maldiciendo al otro chef. No profesional. La comida era buena pero podría ser mejor en varios aspectos.

Me encanta venir aquí, la comida es la más sabrosa de todos los asadores de Toby que he visitado. Lo único que diría como crítica que me desanimó un poco, por lo tanto, 3 estrellas fue que visitamos este domingo, ya no se nos permite servirnos a nosotros mismos y lo que queramos se sirve en nuestro plato, lo cual está bien, pero el chico jugar nuestras verduras (parecía joven y bastante nuevo) era inmensamente tacaño con el tamaño de la porción.Apenas conseguí puré o coliflor (quería más después, pero no estaba seguro de cómo funcionaba ya que no se explicaba nada) Entiendo que prefieren dar menos que desperdicio comida pero me dio un tamaño de niño y soy un adulto! No me fui con el estómago lleno, por así decirlo. Mientras que cuando llegué ante un tipo diferente (se puede decir que tiene más experiencia) fue muy generoso con el tamaño de las porciones y eso es lo que me encantó, no tuve que volver a buscar más y simplemente disfruté mi plato de una sola vez. Quizás enseñarle a este nuevo chico porque parece nervioso por poner demasiado en un plato, pero al final pone muy poco. De lo contrario, gracias por una hermosa visita :)

I had a meal with my family here yesterday, I didn’t plan on eating as was going to another meal later that day but the food just smelt and looked too good - was definitely worth breaking the diet for- gorgeous, the beef in particular. Choice was amazing, especially given the time’s we are in. Staff were attentive and couldn’t do enough for us! Very hygienic and safe, everyone was well spread out and there was a lovely ambience. Will definitely be returning!

Visited yesterday for a family meal, Sarah welcomed us at a safe distance and escorted us to our seats. Very quickly offered us drinks and got them. The meal was very lovely and we all enjoyed our experience while at the Toby carvery.

What an amazing place. We was greeted by a lovely lady called Sarah. She ran through all the process of ordering our meal. She also ran through all the Corona safety measures that are in place. I was very impressed with the layout to keep us safe. The drinks and food was first class, fresh and piping hot off the well stocked carvery deck. The staff were lovely, Sarah catered for all our needs. You could see she really loves her job. Polite and very professional. I would highly recommend this restaurant and definitely will be calling again.

The staff were welcoming and explained their safety measures regarding Covid 19. We were shown to a table and was reassured that sanitising and extra cleaning was in place. I really enjoyed being served the carvery instead of helping myself. The portions were generous, in fact I requested smaller portions. We were made to feel very welcome and safe and I would like to thank Gail for her friendliness and professional attitude and making us feel confident in our visit.

First Carvery since lockdown lifted. Went with my brother and was dismayed to see no beef dripping roast potatoes on the Carbery deck. George and Russell were so kind and made them especially for me. Felt really valued and special. It made my day. Thank you!!

First trip out with the family since pubs reopened little nervous but had nothing to worried about the whole experience from start to finish was brilliant. The host we friendly talked us through the track and trace process had everyone sanitised there hand before being allow in the restaurant. My first dining experience since lockdown, I have to say from the moment we arrived we was greeted by the host gale who asked us to sanitise our hands and promptly showed us to our table.Our server was Courtney who was very friendly and practised social distancing throughout. We was greeted by the chefs who introduced themselves they are the friendliest chefs I have ever encountered, Russell talked us through the options and ensured we had plenty on our plates, Jake was the other chef on duty who was equally efficient.The whole experience was excellent we will definitely be returning we’ll done to the whole team on today for making us feel welcome and safe

Was served by the wonderful Sarah and Gail at the door, top notch service asking for our details during this mad time (COVID-19), would also love to say I was served by a waitress called Olivia. One of the best waitresses I’ve ever been served by, and what a pleasure it was.

Went on 8th March about 5 15,there was a long queue at the food which wasnt moving, we was eventually told they were running out of food ,every time they filled it up it was empty in minutes ,the state of the hot plate was another thing disgusting, wont be returning any time soon to many bad experiences here

Appalling service and food. No soup of the day, dried out vegetables and potatoes and no Yorkshire puddings. No treacle pudding either! This was all in the middle of the afternoon when everything should be fresh and available.

Don’t like leaving poor reviews but people need to know. Staff so miserable and borderline rude, no ice, no smiles, only one typically behind the bar whilst the rest were out the back. It’s a shambles. There was one lady bar staff member who couldn’t have been more kind but she was up against it with her miserable colleagues. Honestly I wouldn’t touch the place with a barge pole. We were not alone in asking to be given a quiet table because very loud music was being played in the bar, making conversation difficult The food was as you would expect from a Toby Carvery, plentiful and tasty. A nice bottle of wine and some scrumptious deserts completed the meal

We visit our local Tony carvery quite a few times threw out the year but after this experience we will not be in a rush returning. On our arrival we was made to be kept waiting to be seated for over 5 mins I couldn't understand why as it was a quiet Tuesday night in the restaurant, when we finally was seated and placed our order we went to queue for the carvery, to say we was disappointed was a understatement, the meat looked dry like it's been sat there all day the beef was as tough as my boot! There famous Yorkshire puddings were that hard and stale we couldn't cut threw them along side the roasties, the mash looked like it was made with smash was tasteless and lumpy, the veg looked like it had been been sat there to dry out under the lights all day, I've never seen carrots that dry and wrinkled like that before and then it came to the gravy, the pots where nearly empty and what was left looked like dirty water! The gravy was just thin and well like I say water! We never got a courtesy check we ate what was edible as we was hungry and asked for the bill, when the waitress came to collect the plates that's when we was asked how our food was, I could understand this if the place was busy but as I say it was a quiet evening. All in all it was the worse carvey I've had and the mid week treat really wasnt worth the journey or the money we shall not be returning!

Very poor roasters had to wait 10Minutes for food and when the roast potatoes came out they were still white and not cooked through. Roast beef was fatty and horrible. Ice machine not working - no apologies from the staff. Yorkshire’s were goodPlace was was empty for a Friday night. Says it all Won’t be returning

Arrived and was seated by lovely lady (Pauline) very chatty a credit to the place. Nothing too much trouble. We got the drinks and went up for food, all good as Toby's are famous for. Chef not that friendly had to tell him I didn't want the lump of fat at the very end of the joint which he was determined to give as my portion. He was clearly not pleased when my partner said absolutely not. He then proceeded to start the new joint. Partner wanted beef and as it was a new one asked if the joint was well done or not. He said all the beef was well done there always. So went with the gammon. Anyway guess that's his way. I wouldn't have him near the public !!!! Veg all great good selection.When we got back to our table the lovely couple said was the chef okay. Seems he was abrupt to them too.DO NOT LET THE CHEF PUT YOU OFF Probably the cleanest Toby I've ever been in and up and down the country I've had a few. Once again Pauline made our visit a good one and hope to see you again.

We hired a room at the wheatsheaf Sheldon for our son's wake which was a very traumatic time for us the manager I think her name was Sarah was so kind and really understanding of our grief and the food was absolutely wonderful we had a lot more people come back than we expected although we catered for 50 people and that was not a problem for the staff at at they just put more food out we also had the cakes at the end which everyone said was delicious i would just like to say to all the staff thank you for making our very sad day better for us we were so grateful.

On entering the Toby we are greeted by a lovely women who asked if we had booked? We had not. But this was no problem, she smiled and asked us to follow her. She found us a lovely table and immediately offered us drinks and said our waitress would be over soon. Sure enough Tia came over and introduced herself. She asked what we would like and even checked if anyone had any dietary requirements. I thought this was a great touch! On to the main event! The carvery was a lovely young lady with blonde hair and glasses. She was very happy, smiley and chatty! Moving down we began to choose our vegetables. I was really impressed with the selection available and how lovely everything looked. Lastly gravy stand and then back to the tableThe food was amazing, warm and very tasty! Tia popped back to check everything was okay and if we wanted more drinks. We all commented on how nice and fresh the food was. We finished up our meals and again Tia came past to collect our plates, she offered desserts and we decided we were too full. She quickly brought us our bill and stood having a chat and laugh whilst we paid up.Honestly this was the best visit to a Toby, we come here a lot but this visit was special. There seem to be new staff in and they all seem lovely. I will definitely be back! Please say Thankyou again to TIA!

Terrible avoid and be careful of parking charges scam. Went in for a quick drink with family ended up having a parking charge as a result of poorly signposted parking charge.

We have visited the Wheatsheaf Inn twice in the last few months for Sunday lunch , On both occasions we have been really impressed . All the staff are really friendly and helpful . The food on the carvery is excellent too, everything is hot and cooked very well indeed . As a veggie it's great as I get a bigger plate and can pile on all the veggies I want. The menu choice , if you don't want the carvery , is very good too with about eight veggie choices. Our waitress, Courtney , was lovely really friendly and efficient . It's the closest to a proper home cooked Sunday Lunch we've ever had in a restaurant and we will definitely be back .

Wow... christmas day made easy!

Went to the toby cavery for a nice meal which was average which was fine as to be expected but when i went to the bathroom it smelled disgusting like it had not been cleaned in months dirt every where it really turned my stomach to the point where i will not be going there again i will be telling everyone i know please sort this out

We attended the Wheatsheaf Sheldon for a pre booked family Cavery lunchtime meal,on Sunday 15th December.

We went to the Toby Wheatsheaf Sheldon carvery at 7.30 pm, Friday 13th Dec. The four meats were lovely, pork, gammon, turkey and beef. The beef was tender and flavoursome. There was a very good variety of food including stuffing, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, fluffy mashed potato, sprouts, creamed leeks, carrots, peas, red cabbage, and cauliflower. The carver was a young, very pleasant chatty gentleman. There was no queue at all. You do have to put your reg number on the screen at reception. The girl that served us at the table was very nice and friendly. Parking is free. It was a very enjoyable meal and a good experience. Very good value at £7.29. I would definitely recommend this carvery at Toby The Wheatsheaf Sheldon.

Warm reception from the manager on arrival, but never saw our waitress until we wanted our deserts. Only to be told the ice cream machine was broken. Was not asked if we wanted starter or a second drink, or if the meal was ok. Carvery chef very nice, food good quality and hot.

I understand that you get what you pay for and the carvery is inexpensive but the service was so slow several people in the queue nearly died of old age. Having one server on a four meat carvery is bad enough but the poor bloke had to keep leaving to fetch supplies from the kitchen. He was later joined by someone else but at this point the line up looked like someone was giving away free tickets to a Rolling Stones gig. My feet were sticking to the floor and the loos were grubby. However when we eventually got the food it was pretty good and the server (Young Guy with a dark beard was jovial and trying his best) Maybe a mid week visit would be less stressful. When you are going to be busy have plenty of staff.

Queued for 40 minutes, staff kept disappearing from the counter adding to the queue.

On Saturday the 9th November me and nine of my friends went to the Toby for a reunion meal/birthday celebration having booked a table some weeks previously. It took over 15 minutes to get severed at the bar because apparently they had run out of glasses!! We then had to queue to be shown to our table and after 20 minutes had to ask a member of the serving staff to come to out table as no one had come over. We then queued for the carvery only to be told they only had beef left as the turkey and pork had run out, it was only around 8.30pm!!! The small piece of beef would not have served us all and there were still people queuing behind us. When we asked staff what alternatives they had they seemed very disinterested and the manager was worse, basically all he could say was he been there since 6.30am and it was very busy. We left with no food and no real apology. It was a very frustrating, disappointing experience and despite the fact that me and my friends have been going there for over 10 years for celebrations I doubt we will be going again.

Cannot fault the food. Totally amazing. But service very slow for ordering starter/pudding or drinks. I had a dirty fork & table very sticky. Ladies toilet, what can I say. 2 out of order & one had faeces on the seat & flies flying around.

First time having the Carvery here, can't complain about a thing and the staff were so helpful and attentive. Went back the next morning the the breakfast, good quality food and again brilliant service

The Sheldon Cavary was a very good place for us the meal was terrific and the staff were polite and very helpful.The place was clean and most welcomeing

Man on desk greeted us with friendly welcome so helpful as my husband on crutches let us sit where we wanted. Food lovely plenty of choice meat so tender waitress friendly brought bill as soon as we asked we love this carvery for lovely food welcome and atmosphere would recommend

Went with a friend for a lunch time carvery..Whilst not over generous with meat there was a lovely choice of vegtables..We chose a syrup pudding for desert and was disappointed very small portion and no taste of syrup....

I come in alone some days for lunch and the staff are always friendly and helpful and never let me feel lonely and cope really well when it’s busy. Food is nice and hot and I never have a problem.

My friends and I came in on Friday night for a few drinks. The staff were amazing and obviously were working very hard. After smelling the amazing food we decided to stop and eat. The Carvery was fantastic and great value for such massive portions. Thank-you so much Toby Carvery Sheldon!

Just received a parking fine through the post. i stopped one lunchtime 11 days ago for a quick lunch.

Not Well patronised, Carvery menu with very little alternatives, examined the carvery , Baked meat, sad / stale Veg. luke warm gravy .. Not Impressed .

Good food good service and good price friendly and helpful The manageress Kate was welcoming and Georgina the waitress was lovely

Visited the weatsheaf today was seated straight away it was very busy, kylie served us she was lovely so friendly and helpful I have visited in the past and the service was poor but can't fault today well done kylie great customer care skills

We arrived en route to the airport and we were looking forward to a roast Sunday lunch.

Warm welcome as usual from all of the staff. A very nice meal, good quality hot food. Quick service from our waitress Kylie. Couldn't ask for any more.
