Amazing! Everything about this hotel was perfect. Lovely area, the hotel was beautiful, the rooms were so lovely and extremely clean. The food was amazing. The staff were so nice and helpful, I literally don’t have a bad word to say about this hotel. Would 100% recommend and would without a doubt return!

Outstanding. Superb. Superlative food which excites all 5 tastes. Sweet, salty, sour, (minimal bittter) and umami. The service is top class. Georgia and Josh and Alastair and all the staff were great. The zero five recommendation was wonder. All our requests were met with cheerfulness. The snacks are a lovely start. The starter hot pocket was generous. The lamb done just slightly more than pink was delightful. Every single accompaniment was top notch and tasty. The rhubarb dessert, a work of art. What a thoughtful touch with the Bakewell tarts on the Americano coffee. Then trying to light the fire. Nothing too much trouble. A memorable meal and we will be back. Mm

The plus was undoubtedly the staff who were polite, efficient, highly attentive. The room was ok but a soft mattress never helps me personally. Breakfast was very very good, but the wifi was shocking, and the bathroom quite cramped.

Had a lovely lunch in the restaurant with family. The gentleman who served us was very good, giving us advice on a desert wine which was an excellent recommendation. The staff in my opinion make a big difference to your experience. We will be back.

We were two couples there to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We ordered cocktails on arrival. We were also asked for our wine order before we had even seen the food menu. We enjoyed the food we ordered although we did feel rushed throughout the evening. A little more attention to noticing when wine needs pouring. When paying those sort of prices I think it’s fair to expect the staff to notice the small details.

Perfectly Scrumptious Gluten Free Afternoon Tea. Our well behaved dog was made very welcome in a special area reserved for guests with dogs. Lovely, professional, friendly, informative service .The setting is gorgeous we will be back . I can highly recommend .

A gorgeous festive poochfriendy stay again at the Rafters at Riverside House. Such a special hotel, the food, drinks, décor and location just stunning. The staff are truly wonderful and you feel right at home! Isla received a royal welcome as always, with a welcome pack on arrival, treats from the staff and sausage for breakfast! The Festive Afternoon Tea was INCREDIBLE! I will dream of the Cheddar & Sage scone forever! We enjoyed two flights of Festive treats – The Savoury and then The Sweet with a bottle of Champagne and a selection of tea’s. The Mince Pie Macaron and the Coronation Turkey Turnover were UNREAL! Breakfast was super delicious as always! The best eggs royale you will ever eat! Special thanks to Elliott, Zoe, Georgia, Jamie and Tom. Can’t wait to see you again soon!

First visit for us and pleasantly surprised, excellent food and wine , great service, nice ambience. May seem a little pricey but definitely worth it Personally Recommend fish dishes but rest of our party had meat dishes and were just as impressed Highly recommend

This was our second visit having been earlier in the year and been blown away by the food so we returned for an overnight stay with friends. The place itself is lovely, really cosy and the perfect venue for a cold winter night. The room was excellent, can’t fault it at all and had everything you would need for a relaxing break. The staff are really friendly and helpful and finally breakfast was absolutely yummy and plentiful. Unfortunately the evening meal in the restaurant didn’t live up to expectations and was well below the standard from our last visit. Don’t get me wrong it was still nice but a bit lacking in flavour and the main was way too salty. Don’t get me wrong this is a lovely place and we would probably come back but I don’t agree with the comments that it’s deserving of a star. We ate at a one star restaurant in London last weekend and Rafters doesn’t compare food wise. In every other way it definitely does. Obviously just my opinion and I’ll be happy to be proved wrong next time 🙂

Honestly I’m amazed this place hasn’t got a Michelin star. Met the owner Tom and bought his cookbook too which is excellent. Fabulous meal. Taster menu never failed to excite or delight. Lovely staff. Pity we couldn’t stay that night. Will definitely be returning soon to stay. A must for any foody. Go. Enjoy. 10/10

Had a wonderful sunday lunch with friends, 2 had starters fish with cheese tart looked amazing, they said it was fab we all had beef for lunch, it was so tasty and cut like butter, plus the cauliflower cheese was yummy, roast potatoes so crispy. We found space for dessert/ cheese, 2 shared 8 pieces of cheese and accompaniments, one just wanted ice cream I opted for almond dessert, yummy and so pretty. The wine we had was very good too will definitely visit again soon

Really enjoyable 2 night stay at Rafters, Riverside. Would highly recommend to any foodies in the surrounding area or beyond for a Michelin style fine dining experience. The staff are extremely attentive and hospitable which made for a relaxing few days. The food is exceptional. A real treat and perfect for a celebration; birthday, anniversary or special occasion. Will definitely return again and would also recommend the restaurant in Fulwood (same owners) for a fine dining experience in Sheffield!

Sunday lunch Beautiful venue but the food is nothing special,the starter I had consisted of half a carrot and a bit of dressing,mains ,roast beef was excellent but roast potatoes obviously precooked and tasted like it ,as did the Yorkshire puds , very underwhelming ,can only conclude that the reason they had empty tables on Sunday is the value for money is not good

Superb stay with superb food. Such a fantastic Restaurant with Rooms. The staff are so welcoming and friendly which shines through in the service. If you haven’t been you won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait to return and enjoy this wonderful place

The restaurant is located in a beautiful historic hotel. We had booked a Sunday lunch with family (15/10/23). We arrived to a lovely warm welcome from the reception staff. The friendliness and professionalism continued with the waiting staff. The food was fantastic and catering for gluten free was no problem at all - supberb. We all enjoyed a wonderful meal in a wonderful restaurant.

Delicious food, lovely setting, comforting seats but even more so than all of that, warm, friendly staff that really did make the experience all that much better. At this level of dining + location, the service can be very stuffy but this wasn’t. Thank you to all the waiting staff for your welcoming warmth and fantastic sense of humour and thank you to the kitchen for the brilliant food, we will be back!

This is the fourth time we have visited the Riverside and would highly recommend it. The food is exquisite. A fine dining experience but with a relaxed atmosphere. We were made to feel extremely welcome. Salmon gravalax, fillet steak, blackberry cheesecake mousse (pre dessert) and chocolate torte - divine. This is an absolute gem of a place. We are a relatively young couple (late 30s/40) and would recommend this for a romantic yet relaxed fine dining experience.

My jaw hit the floor when produced with the bill. Seven pound ten pence for the smallest archers and lemonade I’ve ever seen. We came for Christmas dinner, and had turkey and bacon roulade. It was tough as old boots. Had the waffle for pudding which was excellent.

We were cold and thirsty and saw a sign outside this picturesque and cosy hotel. Morning coffee with biscuits £3.50 ish. The decor is very tasteful and we were tempted to stay for lunch . Excellent coffee decaff in large cafetiere with thick shortbread bicuits, possibly homemade,

We stayed at the hotel and decided to have the dinner rather than go out in the evening. (See separate review of the hotel). Dinner was three courses at just under £50 each with a choice of 3 items for each course. No a la Carte when we would have preferred simply to eat less. Also, though there is an extensive wine list, no mention of wine by the glass.,When we asked, a glass of "rose" and then "red" were produced, though no indication of price.Having chosen what to eat, we were asked to sit in the hall room and given some nibbles. After a few minutes shown into the dining room. There was only us and one other couple and for some reason we were seated very close to them and, as there was no music (which we normally do not like) we had to talk very quietly. Sitting the couples further apart would have been more thoughtful.The food itself was good, though not outstanding, and we felt that had there been a choice of just two courses, it would have been better value for money.

Fourteen of us enjoyed a very nice lunch to celebrate my sister's birthday. Very pleasant staff showed us to the Courtyard room which is a nice private dining area. There was a good selection of drinks & we had two very good bottles of wine, both under £24. We ate a nice selection of nibbles while waiting for our starters all of which were delicious & large!! Main courses of beef, fish & duck equally as good & we all managed to eat the lovely desserts as well! Finally coffees, teas & excellent selection of petit fours rounded off this smashing meal. Service was spot on and the hotel itself feels very welcoming and cosy so hopefully we'll be visiting again but will stay next time

Greeted and invited to review menus in the very pleasant drawing room. With Two Course lunch and a bottle of wine ordered, we were seated.Lovely dining area, quality all round and the food didn’t disappoint. Risotto and Smoked Salmon mousse followed by Fish and Chicken mains. All excellent.Adult environment, relaxing, good people around, with good serviceVery impressed and would strongly recommend.

We had a good evening meal here. The place is full of wood panelling and is very traditional but is not stuffy. The service was friendly and the food arrived very promptly indeed. There is an excellent wine list with fair mark ups.The food was generally good but there are one or two better restaurants in the area. That said, my main dish of lamb with root vegetables was wholesome and perfectly cooked. We will certainly return, partly because of the old school charm and value- 5 courses for less than £50.

Friendly reception, professional service and lunchtime menu excellent value for money. Sat with a drink in the comfortable lounge whilst choosing our lunch. We dined in the restaurant, had three lovely courses and a glass of reasonably priced wine. Would recommend.

We went there for a Mother’s Day lunch, and I have to say, we were thoroughly disappointed. The starters were nothing special, my partner had a tart with a lemon dressing – wasn’t so much of a dressing than raw lemon juice and rind – Yuck. The contents of the starters were swathed in bagged lettuce leaves. The meat was ok, but the yorkshire puddings were the worst I’ve ever tasted, and the steamed vegetables came mixed together in a big bowl, with a lovely puddle of water in the bottom. I was hoping for parsnips, roasted carrots, but no – honestly, you may as well have been in a canteen! Notably absent was stuffing – so disappointing as that's surely one of the best parts of a roast. Worst of all was the service, with lacking atmosphere running a close second.What ever happened to putting music on in the background? I’m sorry to say that the lady that served us just doesn’t have the finesse and charm to work in an establishment like that. She made us feel uncomfortable with her manner and as though it was all a little bit too much effort. All of our toes were curling underneath the table. She really tainted our experience of the Riverside. You could employ local waiters/waitresses studying for their GCSE’s at Lady Manners; and they would do a better job. The bill came to over £200. If you work hard for your money and want to spend it enjoying a memorable culinary experience, please please don’t go to the Riverside!

Went to the Riverside for lunch yesterday (Sat 28 Oct) and had an excellent time. A grade 2 listed building, in superb surroundings. The food was excellent quality and exceptional value (<£20 for three courses (each, obviously). If you’re feeling energetic there is a superb walk over the fields to Monsal Head, which can be extended into a circular route back following the river. We will defiantly be going back to the Riverside, and next time I think we’ll stay the night.....

Visited Riverside for an evening meal with my sister and our husbands. Beautiful setting and beautifully furnished. We arrived before our table booking. But did wonder if we had upset the lady that's was waiting on us. She was enjoying being rude and sarcastic with in minutes of our arrival. To a point that we were debating leaving and trying somewhere else. But we stayed and glad we did as the meal was fantastic. The 3 ☆ and for the meal and surroundings only. Shame that the waiting staff (could have been the manager) was just oddly rude. Very defensive and basic lacked people skills. Couldn't face another experience in her company again. I'm more than happy to give details to the owner if they wanted more feed back.

Popped into The Riverside Restaurant on the off chance of getting afternoon tea, The staff were really friendly and even though it was close to the end of the day, afternoon tea was delivered within minutes. Lovely atmosphere.

Our son and his wife took my wife and myself to this restaurant and we were very impressed . It was a first for my wife and myself though not for out son and daughter in law; exceptional in every way; good welcome, drinks on arrival whilst perusing the menu which wasn't overwhelming in choices but offered an excellent range. Excellent comprehensive wine list, and we had a house red which was most enjoyable and good value. The food was presented superbly and was of excellent quality. Couldn't fault the experience and we would imagine it would be a lovely place to stay too!

Un trío de cordero con un cordero kofta era excelente y las pintadas envueltas en tocino ahumado también excelente. Mi postre de crema brulée blackberry estaba delicioso. Las raciones son buenas y no tienen espacio para un campo de queso pero hay algunas opciones interesantes de queso. En general, disfrutamos de nuestra estancia y el servicio amable y sin pretensiones (muy agradable que nos dieran un café mientras leemos la prensa). Esperamos volver en un futuro no muy lejano.

Lovely location for great Sunday lunch with attentive staff. The restaurant stepped in to fit our family group of 10 in at short notice and we had a lovely room to ourselves. Delicious food, nicely presented and decent portion sizes, all at a reasonable price.

Nos dieron una cálida bienvenida de Jo que nos enseñó a nuestra mesa muy bien distribuido junto a la ventana en un pequeño restaurante. La habitación era encantadora y cálida. Nos cuidó con ollas de té, scones, sándwiches recién hechos, pasteles y té caliente - una fabulosa gama de pasteles, con los habituales cuajada y una variedad de mermeladas. Hace más de 10 años desde que visité el Hotel & Restaurante y stills sigue siendo un lugar muy especial con chimeneas y asientos cómodos en un entorno elegante. Parece lujoso, tiene algo de encanto anticuado pero logra bienvenida y obsequiarle con una comida maravillosa. Sin duda lo recomiendo para té de la necesidad de reservar con 24 horas de antelación. No cabe duda de que volveremos otra vez.

Fuimos una familia. Nos dieron una habitación para nosotros, lo cual nos gustó ya que las pequeñas para hacer sus finas sin irritante a los otros huéspedes. La comida era muy buena, no puedo opinar sobre el precio que los padres pagamos. El personal era excelente y muy amable con los niños aprendiendo a nombre de mis hijas en un instante y abordar como persona. Disfruté de mi tiempo allí y la comida le agradezco mucho.

My friend and I went in for morning coffee. The atmosphere was very relaxed and peaceful. The staff were very friendly and attentive. It would have been a lovely place to have a meal if we'd have had time.

My wife and I went for an evening meal there having seen that they accommodate vegetarians. The food, staff and setting were all very good. The price was probably a little more expensive than we'd normally pay for a similar experience but nonetheless we both enjoyed it. The pre-starters and pre-deserts plus treats with coffee made for a great evening.

Llevamos a nuestros amigos que estaba de visita en Derbyshire por primera vez a este restaurante para almuerzo y tuvimos la peor comida jamás. A lovely hotel in a lovely setting. We stayed for a long weekend and treated ourselves to dinner. It was expensive (£45 a head) but the whole ambience and quality of food was second to none.

Tuvimos nuestra primera cena de aniversario de boda aquí mientras estaban de vacaciones en el Peak District. El servicio fue excelente y la comida deliciosa. Las opciones de menú están bien y las porciones de tamaños son más que suficientes hasta el punto de que se lucha a través de postre pero es demasiado bueno para pasar. Nos gustó mucho el aspecto del menú cuando llamamos por la mañana tarde y reservaron una mesa allí y entonces.El menú de 3 platos de excelente relación calidad-precio, y disfrutamos de nuestra aperitivos en el salón elegante, admirando las acuarelas fabulosa de zorros y hounds, mientras saborea nuestra VM. El aperitivo de salmón ahumado marinado en remolacha era delicioso. Me encantó la bollería caliente conejo, y mi marido el risotto pea garden (un poco grande parte, aunque), y nuestros platos principales de rape y el cordero eran muy buenos.Estrella del espectáculo fue el jengibre y almendra con salsa de caramelo salada y una bola de helado de vainilla muy buena crema, que compartimos: qué postre inteligente y delicioso!El servicio era atento pero para adentrarse relajado. Sin duda, volveríamos si en la zona.

Nuestra familia viven lejos aparte, así que decidió reunirse a la misma distancia para el almuerzo para celebrar un cumpleaños. El viaje tardó 1 horas 15 minutos para cada uno de nosotros.La primera impresión fue maravilloso. Hermoso lugar, maravilloso entorno menú encantador. Nos alojamos en el hotel como una pareja y comimos en el restaurante. Fue una noche de sábado y bastante vacío. Fue realmente tratando de ser elegante pero no sacarlas de allí. Sería mejor que guardes cosas un poco más sencilla y conseguir lo básico de cocina justo. En vez de eso, pero con los componentes individuales complejo, que se encuentra a tan sólo no bastante hasta la marca que estaba tratando de ser. El personal era realmente intentando duro y muy atento.

Disfrutamos de la comida aquí hace un par de semanas. El personal era muy amable, la comida era muy buena y locales y además el precio era justo. La única crítica es la falta de sillas para sentarse para un pre-cena beber - 2 de nosotros tuvimos que soportar hasta otros comensales fueron llamados a través. Recomendado.

En una visita a Sheffield llevé a mi madre a comer el domingo y nos recomendó el restaurante Riverside después de haber visitado con amigos. La 4 almuerzo de campo era una buena relación calidad-precio y la calidad de la comida era excelente. Todo era casera y excepcionalmente sabroso y la comida estaba terminando con excelente café y pastelitos. El personal era muy atento y la carta de vinos también era muy abundante. En general un almuerzo muy agradable en una ubicación estupenda, lo recomiendo!

No era nuestra primera visita a este establecimiento.Parte del Riverside House hotel es muy cómodamente amuebladas con áreas separadas para beber algo antes de las comidas, comedor (2) y después de café/té de comida. La primera y última tienen chimeneas de leña y el ambiente es muy acogedor y el personal.Mi esposa y yo estábamos reunidos con un primo mío y su esposa tras una pausa de un año o algo así, y había mucho actualizarse para hacer más de una espléndida precio fijo de tres platos. Tras las bebidas en la zona del bar, nos acompañaron hasta la zona trasera del comedor. La comida no podía ser criticada; mi hígado salteado de terneros de patatas con verduras, era excelente.En general una comida agradable en un entorno espectacular.

Decidimos reservar el Riverside en Ashford para nuestra Boxing Day almuerzo después del caos bullicioso que es día de Navidad con la familia.El servicio era impecable, amable y atento, pero nunca ser empalagosas. El personal hizo todo lo posible para ayudar, esperábamos y discretamente identificados, abrir las puertas para nosotros (uno de nuestro grupo es un usuario de silla de ruedas) y todo funcionaba como un reloj suizo.La comida era excepcional. Los Mince pies eran caseras y llena de fruta, mientras que el café era precioso y caliente.Nos quedamos muy contentos con nuestra decisión y tenemos pensado volver a alojarnos en el hotel la próxima Navidad.

Este lugar es inigualable en cuanto un restaurante para almuerzos.Mi esposa y yo hemos venido aquí muchas veces en los últimos 5 años, aunque hemos probado otros lugares supera este lugar a todos.El servicio es rápido y amable, la comida es de primera categoría y el entorno es muy agradable. Todo esto a un precio muy razonable.Nunca hemos una vez ha decepcionado con ningún aspecto del Riverside Hotel.

Three courses for £16.99! Homemade Tomato Soup, Pork Belly and pancakes, winter fruits and Vanilla Ice cream to finish off. The Riverside lunch menu Monday to Saturday has to be one of the best deals in Derbyshire for fantastic food, location and ambiance.

Nos pareció que el Riverside es un lugar encantador y el servicio excepcional. Por desgracia, nuestra té de la tarde no era la mejor. El pan era bastante duro, los pasteles muy similares en sabor y tartas de té tostado frío no son atractivas. Un amigo y su esposa invitó a ocho de nosotros a unirse a ellos para un almuerzo de celebración de cumpleaños en el Riverside - la primera vez que he estado durante más de 30 años.Hay varias zonas de comedor, dando la impresión de comedor privado, todas bien amuebladas y diseñadas. La zona del bar es bastante compacto, especialmente con el mobiliario substancial, pero teniendo en cuenta que es una zona de tránsito para los huéspedes preparar para comer, es adecuado.El servicio desde la llegada hasta la partida era excelente.Presentación de la comida, calidad y cantidad eran excelentes también - y una buena selección de productos variada al otro lado de la (limitado) variedad de menú de comida.Fue bueno también para ser perturba por tanto tiempo como nos hubiera gustado después de la cena.Podemos recomendar el Riverside para el almuerzo.

It's a lovely hotel to visit but becoming a bit tired in places... something we found quite nice if that makes sense.

Conocimos a unos amigos de aquí para el almuerzo de domingo. Era nuestra primera visita. En general, fue una experiencia muy buena. Nos sentamos en las pequeñas pero agradables jardines disfrutando de una copa y algo para picar. Entonces le acompañará a una habitación bien equipada. La habitación era elegante y complementado con muebles antiguos.El servicio era rápido y eficiente. La comida ( porciones más que adecuado ) estaba bien presentado un sabroso.En general, fue una buena experiencia y estamos pensando en volver.

Primera visita para nosotros, amigos habían sido antes y lo disfrutamos.Un casa Georgian House hotel encantador del país en el bello pueblo de Ashford en el agua. Las comidas se sirven en varias pequeñas salas de comedor dando un íntimo ambiente. Después de nuestro almuerzo café se sirve en un salón que contribuyó a la sensación de estar en un hogar privado.El menú era acogedor, con una buena selección de campos y la traducción a la placa no era en general decepcionante aunque los postres podría haber sido más emocionante. La comida era sin embargo una buena relación calidad-precio y buen servicio relajado.La lista de vinos era impresionante aunque uno maravillas cómo un hotel pequeño puede administrar una extensa bodega.Sin duda volveremos para una cena y con esa bodega tal vez una estancia de una noche.

Precioso entorno junto al río, preciosa casa, buena comida, habría tenido un 5 estrellas, pero para una de las camareras. Uno era encantador y no podría haber sido más servicial, la otra, brusco a punto de ser descortés, necesita volver y aprender lo básico de servicio en este maravilloso lugar para comer.

Reservamos el hotel y restaurante para un fin de semana y comida familiar sorpresa para mis padres 80 cumpleaños. El personal hizo un fin de semana entrañable y especial para ellos . Tuvimos una cena sorpresa el sábado por la noche para 16. Nos dieron una habitación comedor privado y dedicado personal. El ambiente era justo lo que queríamos. Nada era una molestia.Incluso no he comenzado en la calidad de la comida. No es barato, pero impresionante. Maravillosos sabores, gran presentación tan bueno como cualquier otro restaurante en el extremo superior del mercado. Todo lo que puedo decir es un enorme gracias.

Nos sentamos en una mesa agradable de la ventana. Hubiera sido agradable haber tenido a la carte" para el menú siete platos como la comida sería demasiado para comer en dos noches consecutivas. La elección era buena y hay para todos los gustos.Los alrededores eran hermosos con un cómodo salón y un bar separado . Como no había muchos huéspedes comedor era difícil tener una conversación informal pero por lo demás la experiencia fue muy positiva al chef ejecutó la comida bien, la lista de vinos era muy completos y el personal muy atento.

We had a meal at this restaurant for my wife's 50th birthday. Really great food friendly service. Very quiet on our visit only 3 other couples but staff very attentative, quality food . Recommend if you have a special occasion.

Nos alojamos aquí por una noche en octubre - tuvimos problemas para encontrar la puerta principal y luego el aparcamiento (está en la parte trasera). Se han mencionado en varias ocasiones que habíamos reservado mediante LateRooms - si no puedes reservar directamente en línea que esperas. La habitación estaba bien, si algo pequeña - propbably actualizado en 1970 si el estilo de principios de 1900 y realmente necesita otro. La habitación era jamed llena de - panecillos dulces, frutas, jerez (Sherry de bebidas que estos días?) y muchas otras cosas. Nos dijeron que era una cena 7 platos gourmet experiencia en 45 libras por cabeza, el precio no nos importó pero no queríamos un 7 platos lo tomas o lo dejas- nos coulld ni siquiera 2 campos del espectáculo que ofrece - nos dijo que nos gustaría probar otro lugar y nos dijeron que el Bear WS no había mucho, ni de las armas aparentemente Ashford y nos recomendaron en el hotel hermano Monsal Head. Así que probamos el Ashford armas que era excelente.El desayuno era un poco raro, que se sentía como estar en un Agatha Christie 'que dun todo" - camareras entraba por servir lo que parecía ser una breakfasr buffet sin el buffet.Supongo que este ritmo siempre está lleno y se libra atraen a los 'gris' que podrán disfrutar de un deja vu Chatwsworth con experiencia y a la puerta que probablemente no tienen mucho que hacer para sacar 'em. No es un parche en el Cavendish y donde a veces el precio puede ser la misma que la del río, pero la experiencia es incomparble.

Fuimos a cenar, mi hermano y mi cuñada alojados en el hotel. Gran ambiente relajante con vistas al río, un encantador restaurante con excelente menú equilibrado, personal amabilidad en sí con bebidas, cena y café. muy completa lista de vinos a precios razonables. en general ofrece una magnífica, relajante lugar de comida en idílico entorno, la comida y el personal que están decididos a por favor.

sabes cómo nuestras vidas pueden ser prisa, apoyado por medios electrónicos y con la constante necesidad de pensar en más de una cosa a la vez? ... aquí podrá disfrutar de la tradicional, largo, familia domingo almuerzo en calma, su exhuberante arboleda pero no opresivo comfort. El hotel dispone de algunas habitaciones públicas encantadoras (tuvimos un buen aspecto) y rodeado de antigüedades bellamente cuidados, disfrutamos con paneles de roble y un precioso jardín nuestro grupo de cuatro a tres el almuerzo del domingo con platos de comida bien presentada y bien cocida con servicio discreto y amable. Me sorprendió para recibir una pequeña botella de jengibre cerveza en vez de cerveza de jengibre que mezcla con mi whisky pero que era el único error. El almuerzo fue una buena relación calidad-precio y, en general, una experiencia agradable. ¡volveremos!

Nos hicimos amigos allí para el almuerzo recientemente. Como ninguno de nosotros había estado antes, pero había visto el hotel y su entorno encantador, todos estábamos deseando a la experiencia. fue una experiencia pero no nos será repetir. Nota a la gerencia:1. No Park huéspedes recién llegados en el vestíbulo del hotel y dejar sin un menú o una bebida.2. Cuando finalmente Dole los menús, proporcionan una lista de vinos al mismo tiempo.3. sonrisa y decir algo hospitalario.4. tren que los camareros en los protocolos de esperando en la mesa es decir que no recoge los vasos de agua de diners cuando llenarlos y deberían tener en cuenta que es el "host" y servir al último.5. no haga que sus clientes "una oferta que no puede rechazar" tales como " ¿le gustaría sus cafés en el vestíbulo?" sólo porque quiere llegar con sus propios planes. no quieren ver o escuchar la ama de llaves y su aspiradora salir en dirección a sus todavía cálido asientos.6. No deje sus clientes esperando para pagar y dejar en un edificio desierto ahora. Está a sólo 2,30 de la tarde.7. decirle al chef que hay más de una ensalada en el mundo y, mientras que él está bien, no necesariamente que acompaña cada plato.8. ¿Por qué elegir poner su almuerzo huéspedes en lo que debe haber sido los barrios antiguos de personal? La habitación es oscuro y tiene el ambiente de un semi-sótano con aquellos high,ventanas pequeñas con ninguna vista. El nombre del lugar es Riverside pero nunca imagino que había cuando estás comiendo una comida allí.en general es un decepcionante y bastante deprimente.

My kind of place where if taken would be really pleased! Spent my first night of married life here, simply wonderful. Been here many times since, great food. When I eat here, I remind myself that. Food really can be this good. Sometimes I forget.

I ate there on 13th March with some family friends. The food was out of this world, the service unobtrusive and above all the atmosphere was quiet. We were able to have great discussions and the really the proprietor could not have done more for us if we had been royalty.I have read other reviews on this page and it seems that many people expect a small hotel to provide the same facilities as a chain. At Ashford they have their own way of doing things and it isn't cheap ! But I feel that I had the most enjoyable meal I have had in years !

Ashford on the Water near Bakewell is a beautiful Villiage. Whilst there yesterday, my wife and I decided to take advantage of the two courses for £12 offer for lunch at the 3 star Riverside House. The setting looked idyllic in the autumn sunshine. Perhaps we should have chosen to eat outside, as inside was decidedly gloomy. The term waiting for God sprang to mind. Lunch was served in the conservatory, with no view whatsoever. The main dining rooms may have a view of the river, which would have been an improvement, but we were not given the choice. Lunch itself in our opinion, was very average, nothing to write home, or, tripadvisor about, but for £12 we would not have complained. The bill showed a bar cost of £16, which seemed a lot for what we had had. When I asked about it, I was told the lager, ( very ordinary ), was £6 per pint. I can not imagine where they got this price from. I can only hope they put the consderable profit towards a hotel face lift.

We had arranged a double wedding for my two daughters at this venue. On arrival of the wedding guests the staff were unresponsive and it was a bit shambolic. The decor in the room used for the ceremony lacked atmosphere. The meal was served in a surly manner and although my partner had duck, and I had beef they were similar in they were both tough. I told the waitress and we were supplied with steak knives!. Both meals were returned almost in tact but there was no apology or refund. I did not take the matter any further so as not to spoil the girls wedding day, but as I was footing the bill it spoiled mine!

We decided to stay at the Riverside House Hotel prior to going to a family party. When I rang to book I was a little put off by the cool attitude of the woman taking the booking and in view of previous reviews wondered if I was doing the right thing in making the reservation. When we arrived we were given a warm welcome, shown to our very nice room which whilst small was well furnished and had lots of extras such as a decanter of sherry, fruit, chocolates and home made biscuits, tea and a cafetiere of coffee, The room was warm and the bathroom excellent (although it did turn into a wet room after a shower!) We went to the lounge to read and have a cup of tea which was promptly served in a friendly manner. Later we had an excellent dinner beautifully served. Breakfast was a delight and again beautifully served. Everything about the hotel was good, professional and cosy. An excellent experience..

We stayed here for three nights in darkest February, it was warm, comfortable, friendly and a thoroughly good experience. the breakfast was really good and the rooms and beds jolly cosy!! with some nice touches- fruit, sherry, lovely biscuits, ground coffee and even bathrobes. We would go there again.

I read with interest the last review as we had a similar experience at this hotel. We arranged to spend the weekend here with two old friends who live far from us. The hotel was very pretty and the food good (but possibly not as good as the manageress kept telling us!!). The bedroom was good but quite cheaply done but the shower was done as a wet room although you had no choice but to soak the whole floor when using it!! The strange part of our stay was the manageress who went out of her way to give us her loud opinion on everything (quite often when we were not speaking to her). On the first night they ran out of halibut and my husband had an alternative, the second night fish was still off and there was no alternative. This seemed a shame on a small and unvarying menu. The hotel seemed to be very short on any beers we wanted to drink and all in all we felt as though the manageress found us a complete nuisance. The hotel and drinks were expensive ( I think from memory our two nights came to over £400) and it is a pity she was not more accomodating. When we were giving our order to the waiter for instance she strode over and took his pen so she could take the order for her wedding party!! Very odd but very entertaining for us as she was so quirky! I had throught it a good place for friends small wedding but am not so sure now.

Finding a high standard restaurant for a special celebration is always tricky, especially when it's your first visit. Set in the quaint, picturesque Derbyshire village of Ashford-in-the-Water, Riverside House is a lovely old building, full of character - at least as far as the decor goes.Although Riverside House wasn't local for us, we are prepared to travel for good food. Although I had phoned earlier to say we would be a little later than we had originally booked, when we arrived, were met with the most chilly reception, and the manager had to "check with the chef" if it was still OK to serve us! Had we travelled all this way for nothing? We had booked after all, so they knew we were coming! Anyway, once we got the green light for food, we were hurried into choosing our drinks, and then directed to our table by a half-mute, robotic waitress, before we had even finished our aperitif.The robot brought our starters, with clinically rehearsed lines. There was only us and two other couples dining - the others were clearly staying at the hotel, so in theory it should have been cosy, but with absolutely no background music or anything to give a little atmosphere, everyone's conversation was reduced to a low mumble against the clatter of cutlery, making the whole place feel cold, unsettling and unwelcoming.Fortunately, the food was fantastic. Everything was cooked to perfection and presented delightfully, clearly worthy of their AA awards. If only we'd felt welcome and able to relax in order to fully enjoy it.We finished our meal in a deathly silence and went back into the lounge for coffee and homemade chocolates. Two drunken youths staggered into the bar, trying to persuade the manager to let them have some beer. Once he had finally managed to usher the idiots out, he lightened up and suddenly the place became warm and relaxing, with us engaging in friendly and humerous conversation - and even the robot started talking! If only we'd seen this warm and friendly side on our arrival. After a delicious meal, we finally felt welcome and at ease - unfortunately it was too late and we would have to shortly leave.Overall a frustrating visit. We went for the food, and the food we got was, without doubt, top quality. However the staff need to be more human and welcoming, and the place needs some background music - something classical perhaps or non-intrusive; something to at least provide some ambience and atmosphere while you enjoy your delicious meal.A place serving food of this quality should have more than just three tables dining. Maybe we caught them on a bad night, but 2 customers or 20, everybody should be made to feel welcome in a place of such standard. Hopefully a return visit will change my opinion - I would certainly go back for another meal, hoping for a warmer reception.
