A great place. I ordered the baked camembert and didn't say I was allergic to chilli. When it arrived, it had what looked like chilli pepper on top. When I asked, it had. Despite this being my fault, they immediately replaced it with a plain baked camembert. I was so grateful. And the cappuccino was amazing.

Absolutely wonderful welcoming family run cafe with lovely views of the village and plenty of seating. We stopped off here on our way home from a break in the Peak District, I’m so glad we did! The breakfast menu is plentiful with something for everyone, the food is absolutely beautiful, well presented and great portions. We ordered salmon and avocado toast and a granola bowl, a must try is the home made granola! I didn’t think anyone could make granola SO tasty! everything was perfect. The coffee is great, as foodies we took some cakes away with us and I’m so glad we did! Really tasty selection, the blueberry lemon and carrot cake were SO good! We fully plan to make a special trip to come here again in the future! The owners are really lovely.

First visit to the newly-refurbished cafe, now the only sit-down place in Tidza except for the pubs. Good coffee and toasted teacakes, pleasant ambience apart from some noisy muzak in first few minutes. Cheery staff and quick service. Will go there again.

What a lovely place, in the centre of Tideswell. There's plenty of seating, with a few tables outside, by the entrance. The staff are very welcoming, and the service was very prompt, we thought we would have had to wait a while because the cafe was full - always a good sign , but we didn't. The menu is very good ,ideal for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. The quality and quantity couldn't fault, very good value. We set the day up by having the Tidewell breakfast before going for a day's walk, thoroughly enjoyed it . The cakes looked very inviting, with a good choice - maybe next time.

I visited Tideswell Lounge while out on a bike ride in the Peak District yesterday (02.08.2024). A lovely small village Bistro type place with a warm atmosphere inside and an excellent shaded seating area outside. Or if you're not fussy and want to take in the vibes of the village like me you can just sit on the wall. The selection of meals available was spot on. Personally I was in dire need of a piece of cake. I chose the Coffee & Walnut, it was delicious. The place is pristine, quirky but trendy and modern set in an exceptionally beautiful old stone built town. The staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful. It's a family owned business with all hands on board. I was lucky enough to meet and talk to Andy the owner and his son. This wasn't a planned visit I was looking for somewhere to top up my water bottles and have a minute. I'm very glad I found the lounge. I can highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. Especially cyclists for their coffee and cake top up! There's plenty of room outside to keep an eye on your pride and joy. 5 stars from me and I will definitely be going back. 😊👍

The coffee since it’s changed ownership is still really good if not better. I’ve been twice. The homemade scones are delicious but I find £3.50 for a scone and butter to take away overpriced. For example The National Trust cafe charge 2.40 for a bigger scone and they’re also made in house. Cakes are fine at £3/£4 but scones are cheaper to make. In my opinion £2.50 is enough for a scone and butter then £3.00 with butter and jam. £3.50 or £3.75 with jam and cream. Thanks

Walked in on a Sunday morning, no clear instructions on what the setup was (whether to wait for a table etc.) Stood around awkwardly until eventually a waitress walked past and I asked her if we could sit at a table (which hadn't been cleared). She was polite and cleared the table, but no further instructions on where you order and no menus on the table etc. After some time we went up to the counter and ordered two rolls - one sausage, one bacon. Wait was long and sausage bap had a hair in it. Other half was unhappy that his bacon roll had no butter in it. The waitress brought some out but it was so hard it was unspreadable. Overall wouldn't rush back.

I visited this cafe many times when it was High Nellies and it was fab. Now it has new owners it's totally different. If you want coffee or tea with 'a little something sweet there is very little choice as the scones or tray bakes seem not to be available at coffee time. The cake available is very over priced and too big to have with one cup of coffee. The staff were always so polite and attentive. It's the same staff now but they have a different attitude altogether. Apart from one they don't have the same work ethic as before and have lost their friendly customer manner. My order failed to appear at a time when the cafe was virtually empty. After a reminder it finally came 40 minutes after the order was placed. It was brought by the new owner who didn't even apologise for the delay and seemed quite annoyed. There might have been a problem I didn't know about which affected her behaviour but I was a customer and she should have been more professional . I felt uncomfortable and am reluctant to repeat the visit for now. My advice is for the whole staff to be more professional .

Used to visit when it was High Nellie’s and was awesome- visited lots of times and always happy with everything . New owners and staff and now it’s a different matter. Visited February 2024 and found a very over-priced menu and smaller menu, none of the very popular Waffles/ pancakes anymore. Ordered brunch just scrambled egg on toast and beans on toast- took 35 minutes to arrive, when asked where food was staff were very rude. Finally got the meals and pitiful portions- 1 slice of bread with a bit of warm scrambled egg on, the other meal was not what was ordered, complained and had to explain what was ordered, staff took I it back brought it again- wrong again when my friend said it didn’t matter didn’t want the meal after all the time it took and being wrong twice, the meal was put forcefully on the table and left there. Asked for a refund as the meal was not touched/ eaten as not what ordered and the staff member refused and was very rude. Will definitely not return, and be warned if something goes wrong customer service is appalling. The staff need a bit of training in customer service and communication.

Saturday morning 10am, empty or almost empty. Good food, coffee and service. The potential is great, drinks aside the menu is mainly overpriced and somewhat limited. Would keep returning if the menu gets a bit more creative (as it was when it was Nelly’s). Eg Oatcakes? Pancakes? Waffles? choose from a list of toppings? Also some more basic cafe food at affordable prices would be great. Fancy sandwiches are ok but only if you’re happy to pay £8.50! Would really benefit from some basic £5 toasties/paninis etc for those who don’t need or want their sandwich to be so expensive or come with a salad. Good luck to the team, we really want you to succeed.

Dog treats were available for our pooches who came with us (very dog friendly). We had very moist and generously sized cakes and scones, and I must say the coffee is exceptionally nice (I am very fussy with coffee). The independent cafés seem mostly to offer the best service and this was no exception. The staff are friendly and free of drawings upon their person. The coffee was very good and the establishment has a air of calm about it, which could cause you to easily outstay your welcome. The decor made it feel very English with the attention to detail in its furnishings and decoration extremely pleasing. There were a number of pretentious customers, who I gathered to be locals and their conversation made me chuckle because they all seem to consider themselves experts. The village is totally free of yellow lines and parking didn't seem to be a problem, I assume that the lack of warden patrols is all down to it being inhabited by the idle rich. Nevertheless there is some interesting architecture here. Unfortunately High Nellie's Cafe has now closed down like so many other businesses that are closing every single day. It reminds me of what Thatcher did to my country, Yorkshire in the eighties.

Where to start? The overall experience at the Merchant's Yard was excellent. The place has a fantastic atmosphere, with a nice bar area and a comfortable seating area, with table generously spaced. Personnel is very friendly and attentive, cannot fault them. We sat at the bar initially for a drink and the opportunity to browse the menu. Once we were ready our drinks were carried to the table, without even asking. We ordered scallops and duck breast as mains, both outstanding! Puddings, cheesecake and treacle tart, were equally delicious. Considering the quality of the food the price is extremely reasonable, and this applies also to the wine. I really do not know where the negative reviews are coming from. We will be back for sure!!!

After recently visiting Rafters, we had to try Rafters at Riverside. We decided on a Sunday lunch for my birthday. Myself, my husband and our 6 year old son were looked after by Alistair and his team, and we couldn’t fault a single thing! The service, the drinks and the food were all outstanding. It was without doubt the best Sunday lunch we’ve ever had, and our son absolutely loved it too. The wagyu beef and the Yorkshire pudding with a hidden surprise were delicious, and the children’s menu was fantastic too. We can’t wait to come again!

Booked a table for my husbands birthday on recommendation as we are not from the area...Very disappointed!!!...Ordered starters and my sons arrived with a hair in!!!...Got sent back to be replaced but we had all finished our starters when his arrived.... My husbands main arrived with fries that were cold!!...Again sent back.. Member of staff came to the table when the new fries had been replaced for HOT ones to ask if he was now enjoying his fries!!!!...RUDE.. We had planned on having sweets as when we booked they had said his sweet would come out with a candle etc but given the above we decided to pay and leave as the evening had been very disappointing and ruined...I did speak with the manager who apologised and spoke with the chef who waivered our drinks and same Member of staff (who asked about fries, informed us that the starter with the hair in had been taken off the bill!!!...definitely needs a course in customer service as was made to feel by her that we had no reason to complain....Our bill wasn't cheap!!!)....I don't write reviews but felt compelled to as a birthday meal was ruined
