Lovely independent bakery. We had 2 sandwiches to take away. They were very good. Ciabatta and top quality fillings for a very reasonable price. The sausage roll was amazing. Friendly service. Will definitely return when in the area again.

Excellent bakes. You are not allowed into the bakery currently, however the staff do a brilliant job of telling what's available and describing the options. We had a cranberry and pistachio slice, a cinnamon roll and a focaccia bread. We were really happy with all three and will hopefully be making another visit this week. They also sell local jams and chutneys, we have bought some but not tried them yet.

2 x scone/ rock cakes as described . Very dry and in edible the birds enjoyed them . 2 x cobs . Very chewy and again dry . I didn't like the reception of having to shout from a doorway to the ladies and feeling like i had the plague as i was handed my goods . All with no one wearing masks and gloves to handle the items being handed to me . ?? Where was my protection that one of you could have the covid 19 germ and pass it to me on the bag . Will not be going back . I was really looking forward to fresh made bread and cakes but they where dry and really felt like 3 day old bread . Very unhappy at how I was made to feel today . Everyone else isn't treating people like this . Had better receptions from other shops in the area . This is only one not letting you go in . For the cost of 2 cobs and 2 cakes I could have gone and fetched from the supermarket for less . I was really looking forward to having home made fresh bread and cakes . Very disappointed

People come from miles around to buy bread from this shop! There a good reason, because it’s worth it! They use a sourdough starter for the bread, so only sea salt and no sugar is added. The bread is made with assorted flavours and some are quite inventive. All are delicious. I’ve tried everything they make. Seedy whole meal being a favourite. Ciabattas, focaccia, brioche! Had the lunchtime munchies on our visit to Ashbourne today. Always looking to find the gems and found one here at the Bakehouse. I decided on a mini baguette cheese and onion which I have to say the filling was a delight not just a bland slab of cheddar but a creamy cheese with diced mmm Spanish onion. But the bread oh the bread obviously created by a passionate crafts person. Tasteful crust with moist airy dough I'm going for. The Master Baker advised me of the magic ingredients of 3 types of flour I'm sure blended with pixie dust. In a world of bland homegenized cheap tasteless cardboard offered to us these days my lunch today was from bread heaven. My wife advised me her bagel salmon and cream cheese was a off the chart taste sensation. Be advised the Bakehouse is the place for your luncheon requirements when in Ashbourne. Thank you lady from the land of the PCH for your tasty fayre.

If you are a visitor to Ashbourne and have never tried the Bakehouse, I would urge you to go and try some of Lisa's excellent breads and pastries. There are always plenty of samples of bread to try with good olive oil and balsamic vinegars available for dipping. My favourites are the bagel, cream cheese and smoked salmon sandwich accompanied by a cup of some of the Bakehouse's excellent coffee; an almond croissant to follow with another cup of coffee; cheese straws and a summer fruits Danish to take home with a loaf of one of one the excellent sourdough breads. For my wife, Lisa will prepare one her small tomato and onion foccacias; truly delicious. Just to make sure what I want is available, I 'phone in a basic order first thing. For me, bread does not get better than this.

Lisa promised that she would bring back bagels and she is lady of her word. On Thursdays and Fridays a variety of bagels is available either to take home or to have with a filling. For me, my Thursday morning treat is to have a delicious poppy seed bagel sandwich filled with cream cheese and smoked salmon - other fillings are available - accompanied by a good cup of the Bakehouse black coffee. And to take home? A couple of almond croissants, a Danish pastry, a spelt loaf or perhaps a Country Boule. The choices are many and all of them excellent for Lisa provides the real taste of proper bread.

There are several places that serve good coffee in Ashbourne but only two that serve great coffee and Ashbourne Bakehouse is one of them. Furthermore, the bread and pastries offered reflect not only a wide choice but also excellent quality. As if that was not reason enough to visit there is also a variety of breads to taste, freshly made sandwiches and coffee to take away and a fine selection of condiments. Excellent food, great coffee and a delightful atmosphere, especially for those who have time to stop and chat. Lisa and her team have got it right. And one last mention; Lisa baked the the best bagels in Derbyshire, maybe the best in the Midlands, possibly even the best in the UK. I am looking forward to her baking them again next Spring. Bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon(other fillings available) and a cup of freshly made, slow filtered coffee: heaven.

The focaccia is unlike anything I have tried before, light and flavorful, a meal in itself! The gluten free options are wonderful as well, and just as tasty as the non gluten free. I admire their commitment to make hand making bread the old fashion way, without electric mixers, and slow fermentation. The flavor and quality is stunning!

We have been here many times and spent hundreds of pounds over the years but we won't be going again. We were celebrating our anniversary and booked in advance making it clear that one of the party is GF due to a severe allergy. We arrived to find one male server who clearly was unable to cope as he was doing the bar as well as serving on the tables. We had to sit in the bar to start without being offered a drink then were taken to our table but despite reiterating my allergy I was served gluten containing bread which I had to point out. It was taken away and replaced by molten GF bread followed swiftly by a sirloin steak in what purported to be a peppercorn sauce which, although tasty, contained lots of unexpected herbs and was extremely watery. We were asked if we wanted a side and were sold a cauliflower cheese which chef bought to our table pointing out that it contained GLUTEN!!! At no stage did anyone apologise for selling us a side that was totally inappropriate. Nor did they enquire if everything was satisfactory. When we came to leave a miserly 10% was knocked off the bill which included the gluten containing cauliflower cheese! You'd have thought the least they could do was subtract it from the bill but no they charged me for it! So in reality the 10% after subtracting the cost of the cauliflower cheese came to an allowance of less than 2 pounds! Needless to say I was not impressed and felt the servers paltry allowance for what he called the gluten fiasco was wholly inadequate and really added insult to injury.

my dad has been buying me the pawtucketville since i was playing t-ball. i'm 20 now, and i go all the time. whether it's after a long over night shift or when i'm randomly awake when they're open! they remember me and my dad and ask about him almost everytime i'm in! very awesome people! and the food is absolutely phenomenal
